Same old, same old in this classroom. Though this time the desks and chairs are all shaped in a horseshoe shape so he can get a better view of everyone and well to minimize the amount of talking. Just a little change to see what happens
Sokolov could be found at his desk throwing a charm in the air to himself.

Leon had a guess as to what a bindrune was.. but as he looked in his text book, it just seemed to be the process of binding runes together, usually two or more to make a rune charm. As one of his previous classmates had said..
Soooo..
The seventh year took to writing down his answers in his notes again.. Merlin he was beginning to be quite the note taker in this class..
His grey eyes snapped up as he listened to the question posed by his classmate. Yeah, that was a good question, also here was another..
He raised his hand and said..
"Also are there any runes that should be used?" He asked curiously. |

Okay Okay, obviously he asked the wrong question. But it was technically true that a bindrune binds a number of runes together. And Mr. Westwood did describe it accurately."Basically. though normal bind runes are formed of two or in this case three adjacent runes which are joined together. Three should be a rare case. Though your textbook makes it seem common." Wait a second, was Derfael talking about binders. Was he barely listening and only heard bind or did he hear right and just taking a guess at something that sounds familiar.
"Those would be binders and when did you ever have to use a binder?"
Unless his family did not like technology or something. He would not judge.
Oh, that was a good question.
" Any rune can be used in a bindrune or rune charm. It is just if you want an intent you will want to use specific runes. Also, one bindrune which you all might have seen. Any rune could be used, Mr. Kennedy. Just some runes work better with others and some won't work at all together. It's all about trial and error. Now an example though I don't know if its already extremely outdated or not. But"
He got out his wand and flicked it to the board

 "Berkanan and Haglaz are the runes in that one. Okay, today you will be going through your textbook's list of runes or if you remember them that's even better and trying to make your own. You won't have drawn it if you don't want to. Though I would be probably given points to an honest effort at a drawn one. But.. just tell me what's the purpose of the charm like is it a money charm or is it a charm for good dreams before a Runes Exam. Then just list three or two runes with properties you think would best suit the charms purpose telling me why they best suit it of course. No copying the ones already in your book. Unless you are using different runes and explaining your choices. There are literally charms for everything. Like this is the one."

Leon tilted his head a little as he thought of what rune charm he could make. There was already a protection spell in there.. But with everything that was happening at Hogwarts, and with so many loved ones that he had here..
He wanted something more specific..
He wanted to make a rune charm for the protection of ones loved ones..or perhaps.. a charm to tell if ones family was in danger? Something along those lines..
He started to skim through his text book to see what he could come up with and what runes would be best for his charm.
Oh! Perhaps protection and a healing charm, sort of like your own personal mage like one had in video games!

Derf was blinking at the professor's question to him. "Never?" Because he hadn't..but he knew what they were! Which was apparently NOT what they were actually talking about today...oops.
Bind runes. Not binders. But HOW did one bind a rune exactly? Just doodling it on a piece of paper hardly seemed enough to bind something together. If that was the case..he would write his and Abey's name on a piece of paper and bind them together. Debey! Or Aberf. The later made him think of the name Aberforth which them made him think of goats and how he STILL had a promise to keep to a certain someone not yet at Hogwarts...
Wait right he was supposed to be doing something. Picking runes. Three of them. To do something. Hmmmmm...
The first year's initial thoughts went to speech - but not in relation to his stutter and lisp. No, HE wanted a charm that could help him translate animal talk! Not just Mermish and Parsletongue variations of speech, but meows and squeaks and ALL of it! Although maybe he needed to pick a specific animal to start with..hadn't one of the runes had to do with cows? He could start with cows maybe...
Flipping through his textbook, Derf attempted to make sense of the lengthy explanations and eventually came to a conclusion - however horribly wrong ti may be.
