Gaston sighed. The last duel of the term. Alright, let's get this over with! His mind was elsewhere as he wandered into the dueling arena, still brooding over the events of the Piffy reception. But he was jerked out of his thoughts when he forced himself to look up and actually saw who his opponent was. Well at least it wasn't... never mind.
A determined expression crossed Gaston's face as he refocused his thoughts. No matter what was going on in his life, he would not allow Viktor Sokolov to see him vulnerable! "Viktor..." he said, bowing to the other man. "Good luck."
Well, this was different! In the other two duels, Gaston had only used defensive spells, but this time he was the one starting off. It wasn't in his nature to harm another person, but he knew that every moment he hesitated was a moment he looked like an easy target. He decided to go with something that would put his opponent at a disadvantage but not actually hurt him. Pointing his wand at Viktor's wand arm, he cast a nonverbal 'Expelliarmus'.

Someone looked a little down. Viktor understood as well. He did not want to duel Gaston either. Especially when there were female Professors he could duel. Oh well he played along with Hirsch's wishes so far. Might as well follow til the end even though he could could understand what was amusing about.
Someone was being polite. Viktor nodded back to him and bowed. Oh merlin he hated the bowing. Still now he was waiting for Gaston. What was the Charm Professor going to do. At least dont make it obvious point a wand at him. Hopefully Gaston would not surprise him. He just non verbally made a Silver Shield. See he was still up and nothing wrong with him so now to have some fun. He did this before and liked the results. He created a ring of fire around Gaston just enough for him to move and dance then sent a scorching spell directed to him.
Have fun Gaston.

Gaston prepared to cast another spell, but before he could react, a ring of fire appeared around him. Oh no, anything but this! It was his worst fear realized! His heart raced, but his mind was blank. He was frozen to the spot like a deer in the headlights, his eyes wide and terrified as bad memories haunted him. His mother's kitchen engulfed in fire... frantically trying to put out the blaze... flames leaping onto his arm... He could still feel their burn, except this time it wasn't on his arm.
He suddenly realized these flames weren't a memory - they were real - and was jarred into motion. Wait, what? More fire? He inwardly groaned. A scorching spell... he might've guessed! "Finite incantatem!" the charms professor cried, aiming his wand at the flames. They vanished immediately, but it was too late. There was a burn running down his right leg.
Now that the initial panic had worn off, all Gaston felt was blind rage. Did Viktor know about his fear of fire? He was sure he did, though he couldn't imagine how he found out. Why else would he use those spells? Nice try, Sokolov, but I'm not going down that easily! he thought. A line had been crossed, and there was no going back. Now the runes professor was going to see a side of Gaston Marchand that only a handful of people got to know!
He stood shaking with panic and anger and silently berated himself for letting his opponent see... until an idea occurred to him: let Sokolov think you're an emotional wreck, then he won't see an attack coming! He allowed his hand to wobble slightly as he pointed his wand in his opponent's direction, but what his opponent didn't know was that he wasn't aiming for him. He was aiming a nonverbal Flagrate Curse at his wand. Gaston started to lower his wand, but he decided he wasn't done yet. He was going to fight fire with fire - literally! He raised his wand again and sent a nonverbal Incendio Tria toward the other professor.

Now this was a duel!
Hirsch stared at the duel as it progressed. He had been so used to seeing the simpler, less harmful spells being used that seeing a giant ring of fire erupt before his very eyes was an absolute delight. It was as if the man had transformed to a boy again and he was watching his favourite sport come to life.
Although, a part of him couldn't help but be slightly worried. The men could take care of themselves, sure, but did Viktor have that much of a vendetta against Gaston that he wanted to get the man dancing in a ring of fire? Really. That was a bit dramatic, wasn't it?
Things to talk about over a trip to the pub? Yes, he thought so.
"Alright alright," he called, striking up the familiar shield between the two professors. Thankfully because who knew what else the two would pull out of their sleeves as a way of fighting each other. "That calls the end of that duel. Thanks to both of you for coming. I have to say, that was an exceptional duel." Ring of fire and all. "Well done to both of you and congratulations, Viktor, for taking the lead in this round."
