Are you in need of the perfect face to compliment your costume? Look no further for there is everything you need to doll yourself up here with a colourful take on tonight's theme. How about turning your face into a skull. We recommend using the endless supply of paint (which glows in the dark by the way!) provided to do this instead of your wand. Unless you wish to sport a skull face for good, of course...
That isn't the only fun we have over here. Your imaginations are free to run wild with our sugar sugar skull decorating, which you can take with you and eat when you are finished decking them out. There is also a table full of colourful paper for those of you who wish to make your very own marigolds. Add your marigolds to the display, put them in your hair, or give one to a special friend.

He had to admit it: this place looked pretty awesome. Before it was just a dusty old dungeon room that nobody used, but now it was in full fiesta mode. Needless to say, the he and the prefects had outdone themselves. And now he had every excuse to pull out his costume, which he had been DYING to wear since Hallowe'en was on his mind over a month ago.
Clad in a black pin-striped suit and a bat-like bow tie, Frankie found himself hanging out by the crafting station -- more specifically where all the face paints were. He had managed to change his hair from blond to pure white, though his face was lacking the skull look he needed for the night's festivities. Painting ones face was hard to do without a mirror.
The Head Boy glanced around the room, looking to see if Hady was amongst those that had shown up to the Tacowe'en party already. Her artistic skills were needed.

She was here. The only thing that had kept her from being there earlier was her makeup. It had required a LOT of time to get done or well mostly done. Everything but her face had been taken care of. Sure she could do it herself but why? That's what the face painting station was for and she was going to make great use of it. Mhmm.
So after making a very quick tour through each area that the Prefects had decorated making sure all was in place Hady made straight for the crafting station. By the time she reached it she realized she wasn't alone, a wide smile forming on her face at who was there. "Incapable of doing your own makeup Jack?" she teased softly coming up behind him and brushing her fingers against his as she moved around to be in front of him. "Want some help?" The boyfriend had to know she would have no trouble helping him with the face painting. It was time to prove her art skills.

Gaston was not usually one for loud, over-the-top costumes, but in this case he'd make an exception. After all, it was Tacowe'en! Looking around the room, he noticed everybody was in costume and felt a little less self-conscious. He probably would've stood out worse if he didn't dress up! And at least his costume wasn't as out there as some of the ones he'd seen so far...
For tonight's festivities, he was dressed as the Beauty and the Beast character who shared his name (more for the students' enjoyment than anything else, as he detested the character), with one slight variation. He'd opted for something with longer sleeves than the original outfit to hide the burn scar running down his left arm. Luckily this costume had been fairly easy to put together. He already had most of it lying around in the back of his closet, and he didn't have to change his hair or eye color to look the part, though he did charm his hair to make it long enough for a ponytail.
Gaston's eyes scanned the room. The prefects had done an amazing job with the decorations... and well, everything else too! He could hardly tell this place was normally a dungeon. The thought crossed his mind to award points to all four houses for their efforts, but he wasn't sure if he was allowed to give points for something like that. So for now, he decided to settle for congratulating the prefects as he saw them.
The Charms professor made his way to the crafting station. But what should he do first? His costume didn't require face-painting, and he didn't know how to even begin to decorate a sugar skull. His eyes fell to the paper marigolds, and an idea occurred to him. But were the professors even allowed to use the craft supplies or were they there exclusively for the students? Oh well, he supposed one wouldn't hurt...
He picked up a sheet of orange paper and tried to neatly fold it into a flower shape, but it wound up looking more like a sea anemone than a marigold. Wow, paper crafting was certainly not his strong suit! Of course, he could always just pull out his wand and transfigure the paper into a flower, but where's the fun in that? The idea was probably to do it by hand, rather than by wand.
Oh well, maybe a kind student would turn up and show him how to make a paper flower... or at least he hoped so!

Tugging a bit on her attire, particularly around the waist area that was a bit more form fitting than the seventh year was used to, Paige made her way around the party looking for something to occupy here time...and distract. Brian would be meeting up with her eventually, team Auror being in full effect, but until then...
"Hello, professor," Paige greeted the Charms professor with a shy smile as she eyed the colorful paper in his posession and picking up a few pieces herself. She tended not to work with tissue paper, mostly because it did not keep it's shape the way parchment did and most of the time she was paper folding was to change her letters into flowers and send them off, so she turned it over a few times in her hands. "Who...are you dressed as?" If he didn't mind her asking.
Picking up eight sheets of paper and laying them one on top of the other, because she was feeling making a rather large marigold at the moment, the Hufflepuff began methodically folding them accordion style, pressing down firmly after each fold.

Cynthia could not resist the urge to participate in such a cultural celebration. Plus, she was in a festive mood as evidence by her butterfly wings.
She found her way down to the dungeons and over to the craft table. She picked one of the sugar skulls up and examined. This seemed to be a well thought out event. Kudos to the Prefects that worked on it. She grabbed some pink and began to decorate. She softly hummed to herself as she worked.

Gaston was still trying to figure out how to fold the sheets of tissue paper into something remotely resembling a flower when a voice startled him. His head whipped around in the direction of the sound, causing a few strands of hair to fall into his eyes. He knew he shouldn't have charmed his hair to make it longer!
He smiled brightly as he saw Miss Skeeter, one of his favorite students. He probably shouldn't be playing favorites this early on, but let's just say saving his life had quickly put her in his good graces. His eyes widened at the sight of the girl's costume. Whoa, she looked so different with pink hair! No need to guess who she was dressed as... "Good evening, Miss Skeeter," Gaston greeted the Hufflepuff, "or should I say Miss Tonks?" What a creative idea for a costume! Certainly more original than his idea of dressing as the cartoon character who shared his name, at any rate... and he appreciated the homage to the historical figure.
He blinked dumbly at the girl's question. She didn't know? That was a surprise; and here he'd half expected her to take one look at his costume and start singing the Gaston song! Oh Merlin, not the song! He'd heard enough of that song for one lifetime! Oh well, maybe Miss Skeeter was a pureblood and hadn't grown up with muggle things... "I'm Gaston, the villain in a muggle movie called Beauty and the Beast," he explained with a sheepish chuckle. "Not a very original idea, but I thought it would be a fun in-joke for those who know he shares my name."
Gaston watched closely as Miss Skeeter picked up several sheets of paper and started folding them. He tried to copy the way she was folding and managed to produce something that looked better than his first attempt but still in no way remotely resembled a marigold... not even close to being good enough for its intended purpose! Come on, get it right, Gaston! he inwardly berated himself. At the rate he was going, there wouldn't be any paper left for the students to use! "Excuse me, Miss Skeeter?" he said, turning to the Hufflepuff girl. "Would you mind teaching me to do that? I'm afraid I'm useless at it!"

Just please never inform this Hufflepuff of such favoritism, professor. It would likely fluster her into oblivion.
"Skeeter will do," she laughed. Mostly because she was positive she would forget to answer to the name Tonks. "Professor Myers had us dress up for his lesson as well...but I only did the hair then..." For purely selfish reasons that she was embarrassed to admit to, especially to a professor. "I promised Brian that I would put more effort in for his...I mean their...event. He ought to be along soon as Alastor Moody." They had considered coming together as Tonks and Lupin, mostly to poke fun - affectionately in her case at least - at people who constantly assumed that they were an item, but had decided against it ultimately. Moody was a bit more fitting anyway. "I admire her spunk and assertiveness, the actual Tonks I mean...and based on what the history texts have written about her." Her strength as well...it was something the seventh year aspired to as she tried to chip away at her timid shell. "Suppose...if I was going to go around pretending to be someone else for the day...I wanted it to be someone I wouldn't mind being like...or more like..."
Because Paige Samantha Skeeter would be the sort of person to put as much thought and existential theory into something as simple as a Halloween costume. Think...and then rambling on about it.
Oh? OH! The lightbulb went on in the seventh year's head and visible so by her outward expression. Paige wasn't terribly familiar with muggle things, growing up in a mostly pureblood environment until her mother had remarried a muggle - but her step brother was not the Disney loving type, so introduction to that had only come recently and only by overhearing certain Gryffindor girls. "Capitalizing on coincidence is plenty original, professor," she laughed. Although she had purposefully avoided her own, which was of no coincidence but a matter of bloodline. "I've only ever seen pictures from the textbook...but I believe I've spotted a few other characters from that film walking about...no doubt you'll be right in the thick of a musical spectacle in no time."
Still only on step one of her marigold, Paige had just removed her wand from its sunflower yellow holster to cut along the ends when the professor spoke to her again. "Oh, sure professor," she chirped. "It is actually quite simple...not as tricky as origami at least." Did that mean she needed to start from the beginning? Probably. "At least...this is the method I know with how to make them." There may have been other intentions but the supplies were here so she was rolling with it.
Unfolding her tissue papers and smoothing them out a bit, she looked back to the Charms professor. "Crisps folds," she nodded. "Accordion style." And she proceeded to refold her papers once again, which was incredibly easy considering the creases were so firmly present in the paper still. "Then we need to use one of the green pipe cleaners to wrap around the middle to hold it in place and act as the steam."

As soon as Olly got to the Tacoween event, he made a beeline for the art station. That was pretty expected. Olly loved art. He really liked face painting, and this was a perfect day for it. Lots of people needed face paint on Halloween. Olly's own costume was already complete and it hadn't needed much face paint except some to make his skin look paler and his lips look redder. It was pretty easy and not much of a challenge. Olly planted himself at the art station. If anybody wanted some face paint he would be there. In the meantime he picked up one of the skull cookies and started decorating.

Blaise had nothing against Halloween, in fact, he loved it. The only shame here was that he'd have to spend it at Hogwarts again. After three years of it, he would be damned if he sulked through another one. There was no point. Halloween was meant for candy and costumes and friends. Just watch him pretend like he was anywhere else.
First step to enjoying this was face painting and cookies. Granted, he didn't NEED any to go with his costume but when in Rome, yeah? Somehow he was bound to find colors that matched his William Shakespeare getup. He liked the fluffy feather a lot. It matched his quick quotes quill that floated along next to him.
"Hey Ollie." The boy flopped down next to his friend. "Those any good?" Referring to the cookies, of course.
Rather than reach for one, he turned his attention to the marigold display. Clara would like one he was sure. He could make her one.

Bentley's crafting skills laid entirely with his camera and extended a bit to finding the right frame for his pictures. That was it though. He didn't make things or was even interested in making things but this was where his cousin was, so this was where he founded himself.
He gave a nod to Olly and stopped next to Blaise.
"whyyyyyyyyy are you at the craft station? I didn't know you were any good with your hands..." Bentley made a face at Blaise.

Nat wasn't at the craft section to really make anything. She wasn't very artistic and she was wearing a mask so facepaint wasn't something she really cared to do. No, Nat was there because she wanted to see what was over there and when she saw the Sugar Skulls she decided that she'd give it ago.
"So we just decorate them and then eat them?" What was the catch, were they filled with a potion for the trick of things? She glanced at the Head Couple and smiled. Her band mate wouldn't do that and shew as sure Frankie didn't have a mean bone in him. So yes, just decorate and eat.
"How are you liking Hogwarts so far?" New librarian and all, she figured she'd ask.

Gaston laughed along with the Hufflepuff girl when she said he didn't have to call her Tonks for the rest of the night. Not that he would've minded, of course... it was just easier this way. Oh, so Paul let the students wear their costumes in his class? Why was he not surprised?Granted, he still didn't know the Herbology professor very well, but he'd heard he had a flair for the dramatic (and for crazy costumes!)
"Well, you certainly did a nice job on your hair," he complimented the girl. He was impressed by her charmwork... and even more so by what she had to say about Nyphadora Tonks. He remembered borrowing many books about the Second Wizarding War from the library during his time at Beaubatons and being fascinated by people like Nymphadora Tonks and his own favorite historical figure, Hermione Granger-Weasley. Finding out that Tonks had been killed by her own aunt had been a rather traumatic experience for him, though; he was terrified of Bellatrix Lestrange when he was a boy! To this day, he still couldn't understand how families could turn on their own like that! "Well said, Miss Skeeter," he said. "I agree; Nyphadora Tonks was an amazing woman. I always felt sorry for her son, though. The poor child, losing both parents at such a young age!" He couldn't even begin to imagine what it was like to grow up without a mother and father!
The Charms professor's head bowed, sending a few strands of black hair that escaped his ponytail spilling into his eyes. This line of conversation was making him sad; he needed to find a distraction - and fast - before he spoiled everyone's fun! What was it with the Hufflepuffs and these touching tributes to the fallen? First the toast to Headmaster Botros at the start-of-term feast, and now Miss Skeeter's homage to an iconic historical figure. Did they get some sick enjoyment from tugging at his heart?!
The distraction he was hoping for happened when Miss Skeeter's expression changed suddenly, as if understanding had just dawned on her. So now she remembered who Gaston was! Or at least he assumed she did, judging from her expression. Maybe the longer sleeves on his costume had thrown her off... or maybe it was simply because his own personality was such a stark contrast to his Disney counterpart's. If he had a galleon for every time someone told him he wasn't much like the other Gaston... "Thank you, Miss Skeeter," he said. He still didn't think his costume idea was very original, but it was kind of her to say so!
Gaston's eyes scanned the room for other Beauty and the Beast characters. The girl was right! So far he'd already seen two Belles and a Beast - er, Prince. Now if only some students would show up as enchanted objects, they'd have the entire cast! The Hufflepuff's next words made him laugh out loud. "To be honest, I'm surprised I haven't already been in a musical spectacle," he said. So far this term, not one student had bothered him with that awful song. This was a new record! Well, he supposed it was only a matter of time now...
He paid close attention to Miss Skeeter's instructions, watching intently as she made the folds. He was determined to get it right this time! he grabbed a few more sheets of paper and slowly but surely folded them accordion-style, just the way she showed him, pressing down firmly after each fold. Once he'd finished folding, he grabbed a green pipe cleaner and carefully wound it around the center of the paper flower. There, that looked much better than his first couple of attempts... but he still wasn't sure if it was finsihed yet. "Is that it?" he asked. "Or are there more steps?"

Olly had a point there. Cookies were always good, especially if he was right in assuming these were put together by the elves but that didn't stop him from lowering his marigold material in favour of assessing his friend's reaction to the treat. Good? Very good? He had to try one good? Naturally, he'd need to know for himself so at the boy's verdict, Blaise reached for his own cookie and bit into it. "Very good." He decided.
The Gryffindor shifted in his seat at his cousin's approach, scoffing at his words. "I happen to be VERY good at this craft business." Blaise affirmed, lifting his work so far. If you squinted...and dimmed the lights....and spun around really fast it DEFINITELY looked like a marigold. If you didn't...it looked like a lump of colourful paper.
He lowered his 'creation' at Olly's suggestion. Face paint. Funny how he'd forgotten that was probably one of the main activities at this table. "I don't think anyone would protest to us redoing his face--even if it's only for the night." And a mocking smile was cast at Bentley. That was for insinuating that he might have been rubbish at this making things business no matter how true it was proving in the moment.

The librarian glanced over and nodded in response to the question. "These ones, yes. You can eat them. Given you use edible decorations" she elaborated. She suspected the last bit didn't need to be said out loud, but went ahead and specified anyway.
Cynthia considered that question momentarily. "It is about what I expected." she answered honestly. She, like a good librarian does, researched much before accepting the job -- including the horror stories. All in all, the potential downfalls seemed worth it.
"How are you enjoying the term so far?"

I haven't actually tried one yet but they are cookies so I'd assume they're good." Now that he was wondering about it, he wanted to try one immediately. So he stopped decorating the one he was working on a popped it in his mouth. Even though it didn't look the best it was still covered in frosting so that was what really mattered to make it taste good.
"Good," was his answer. Of course it was good. But Olly still wanted to decorate one so he grabbed another and started on it. He glanced up when another boy joined him and smiled. "Hey Bentley. Looking for some face paint?" The question was for both of them, actually.

Was he looking to paint his face? The answer was no. Bentley was here to hopefully see a Chloe and hang out with his friends a bit but that was it. He shook his head in response to Olly.
Wow weren't they adventurous today, trying food that had been out before they got there. Who knew what was in it. Bentley watched as his cousin, like Olly bit into the cookie.
He looked at the 'thing' that Blaise made. "That looks like something a garden gnome vomited up."
Ha ha ha, very funny.
"I'm pretty sure plenty of people would protest thanks. I'll spare them the agony of covering up my face."

Wow....
Natalia kind of just looked at her. Did she really think she wouldn't know not to eat crafts? For a moment Nat wanted to pick up some paste and pretend to go for eating it just to see what the woman would do. "Got it no eating things that you aren't suppose to eat." Could she hear the sarcasm that was going through her voice? The almost seventeen year old (tomorrow to be exact) just kept glancing.
So personality didn't seem to be the librarians specialty it seemed since she was a bit quiet or maybe full of herself? Nat went and grabbed some edible decorations to start decorating her sugar skull. Pink and teal icing seemed to be the best idea she could think of at the moment.
"Term is term. It's going alright. Things haven't been too crazy all but Peeves and his sidekick." She really couldn't stand the pixies at this point. If they came back near her she'd probably do squash them under her foot.

Even though Blaise claimed to be good at crafting, Olly wasn't sure if he believed him. But he gave him the benefit of the doubt because sometimes people could surprise you. He just watched while he frosted his second cookie as Blaise attempted to make one of those paper marigolds. And it turned out...interesting. Olly laughed and elbowed him. "Very nice."
He kind of wanted to try his hand at making one of those marigolds. But he had to finish his cookie first before he could move on to something else. He was done frosting, though, and moved on to the sprinkles. It was looking even more delicious than the second one, even though he was pretty sure it would probably taste the same. This time he did care about presentation, though.
It didn't seem like either boy wanted to get their face painted, which was too bad. "I'm good with a brush," Olly said. Bentley seemed pretty opposed to it though. It was fine. Olly was pretty preoccupied with his cookies at the moment.

Something that a what...? "Rude." It was a marigold, it looked like a marigold. "You've been spending too much time with your eyes behind your lenses cousin. It's starting to affect your sight." As in, how could he NOT see the work of art that this was? "No worries, we'll have Auntie Rhea send you some specs. Fair warning, I'll never not call you Four Eyes after." It reminded him of Davie. He missed his friend.
Olly here was a better sport and a more preferred critic--even if he'd only been humouring him with the compliment. Blaise gave a wide, dimpled grin. Glad at least someone knew how to lie. "Thanks mate. I'm giving it to Clara. She'll love it." Why wouldn't she?
The Gryffindor snorted at his cousin's protest. "Chloe doesn't counts as 'plenty' people. She's hardly one. Take my advice, let Olly paint you a new face. You'll look better for it and he's good with a brush." As was just said.
Basically, there was no way Bentley was leaving here tonight without a painted face. It was all in the name of fun. Where was his Halloween spirit?

Chloe was THRILLED when her sister agreed to be Poison Ivy this year. Ever since she was five Chloe had been some iteration of Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, but the older she got the more people jumped on that bandwagon. Lots of Catwomen here. But she didn't do Selina Kyle for the leather and shoes, no she did Selina Kyle because she was a PARAGON of feminist values. A hero of hers, to be honest. And so this year she had finally gotten her sister to join in on the fun. Gotham Sirens the pair of them. They were only missing a Harley Quinn but there was always next year.
The only thing that Chloe was not THRILLED about was the way that Clara presented her Poison Ivy. The body paint to clothes ratio was not ideal but she would take what she could get from her sister. Personally, Chloe was VERY clothed.
She tugged on Clara's arm and whispered, "More paint for you?"

" Oh don't lie to him." Bentley protested. He was sure that the Slytherin boy was just trying to be nice but really it wasn't necessary. "It's just Blaise, you don't have to be nice to him, he's not very nice to anyone else really." He sighed and gave a pitying look to his cousin.
"Blaise it looks like throw up...honestly."
And how come at this place nobody ever did, fruit smoothies or fruit platters or you know...anything he wanted to eat. Bentley was sure that he just never grew a sweet tooth...that or his mother bewitched him to have a distaste for sweets for the most part. Unless it was Auntie Cameron who did the baking...yum...he could always go for some of her cookies.
Blaise got an elbow.
"I'm not just talking about Chloe thanks." Rude.

Clara was not entirely thrilled about the idea of dressing as someone she knew little to nothing about. Some character called Poison Ivy? From what Chloe had told her about this villain apparently, she was really cool & was a big supporter of plants, like Clara was, so it didn't take too much convincing for the fourteen year old to give in to dress up as a pair with her sister. Even if the redhead originally had it made up in her mind that she was going to dress up as Helen of Troy because she was so great, like Clara, so it only made sense! But again, Poison Ivy sounded interesting enough.
That was until she found out about the character's choice of clothing, which was usually very scarce might she add. So you can imagine how new this was for Clara to be wearing what she was wearing to this party: a halter top, really short shorts & knee high boots, all decorated by herself of course. After it was all done & she had finally put it on, she felt much better about it, mainly for the purpose of her ability to move freely. Not to mention, she thought she looked awesome in her costume as well.
But anyways, she was about to take a look around at this interesting theme of a party, when she felt Chloe tug on her arm asking her about more paint. "More paint?" She blinked at her sister before looking over her frame, "Do you really think I need much more? The fumes from too much paint can be toxic you know."

She blinked at her sister before looking over her frame, "Do you really think I need much more? The fumes from too much paint can be toxic you know."
"Yes more paint," Chloe insisted, "To cover up your exposed skin." The fourth year was all about body positivity and was sorely against body shaming but she was also a raging hypocrite. And so, on her sister, she wasn't so sure she wanted all of that out in the open. Like, hello, Earth to Clara. People could see you.
And they were twins. Which made the seeing bits even more uncomfortable for a Chloe.
So more body paint. Stat.
She dragged her sister over to the table and looked for more green paint. Poison Ivy could also use some gold, too. She wasn't much of an artists herself but she could do makeup. And this felt like the EXACT same principle.
Natalia kind of just looked at her. Did she really think she wouldn't know not to eat crafts? For a moment Nat wanted to pick up some paste and pretend to go for eating it just to see what the woman would do. "Got it no eating things that you aren't suppose to eat." Cynthia admired her completed sugar skull before taking a bite from it. Not too shabby. She nodded as the girl talked. Yes, good. She understood.
She nodded. "You mean the fiance?" she asked with a hint of an amused smile. Who ever heard of such a thing? She made a mental note to suggest their story as inspiration for any young would-be authors. A Ghostly Love Story. That would sell.
"The pixies have been quite problematic as well." she added. There had been a few that had gotten out into her library recently.
