Juno wanted to meet all the new Professors and thought she would start by paying a visit to each one. Her first visit was going to be the new Professor Newton, who happened to be related to the older Professor Newton...at least that was the rumor going around the school.

Juno tapped on the door 3 times and then sat in a chair to wait for the professor. Hopefully she was in, but if she wasn't she would just come back at another time.

Working on the finishing touches on one of her lesson plans, Rosalyn smiled. It was good to get things out of the way slightly in advance though she could be a slacker a times. Came with getting carried away with things and being back at Hogwarts was definitely a distraction at times. Still, she made it her personal goal to work on lesson plans every day and she HAD worked on a bunch before the end of the summer holidays...

She really needed to talk to Rafael about that joint class at some point...

Musing to herself, she heard someone knocking on the door. Ooh, a visitor! How exciting. She put her quill down and headed to the door, opening it. She was greeted by the female Hufflepuff prefect. Juno was her name. "Hello, Miss Darcy," she said with a smile.

Art just HAD to visit the other Professor Newton. His dear Rosie. He was in the area, and thankfully the first floor wasn't too far to climb. Once he reached Rosie's office, he knocked at the door, then spent a few moments looking around the seating area.

Oh, the professor already knew her name! Well, that probably shouldn't be surprising seeing as she was a prefect an all. Juno smiled at her, "Hello, Professor Newton! I just wanted to drop by and welcome you to Hogwarts." Though...she was a former student...so it would be more of a welcome back than a welcome to.

Anyway, she hoped she wasn't bothering the new Professor. The woman just seemed very nice, and was the niece of the Potions master. At least that was the buzz around school.

Rosalyn didn't hear her uncle knock on the door for a very good reason; she had been down in the kitchen getting a snack from the house elves and in the process getting to know them better. It had been a while since she had a conversation with any of the creatures - not since she had been a student - and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to do so again. She would definitely make sure to keep in touch with them whenever she could though she would definitely be kept busy by her work.

Walking towards her office, she spotted Uncle Art looking around and clearly waiting for her. "Hello, uncle. Are you wanting to have some tea with me?" Hopefully she hadn't kept him waiting for long because she had gotten rather wrapped up in the kitchen and lost track of time. Unfortunately she had the habit of doing that.

Oh, a welcoming. How sweet. The Hufflepuffs definitely were a friendly bunch. Paul was awfully proud of his House, and for good reason too.

"Well, thank you, Juno. That's very nice of you." Even though she HAD gone to Hogwarts, it had been a while. Was always nice to have a warm welcome and quite a few years had passed since her graduation though Rosalyn still felt young. "Would you like to come in my office and have some tea? A snack?" If the girl didn't like tea, hot chocolate could be arranged.

Juliette was not one to really go around and introduce herself to Professors, but after the introduction of the new History of Magic Professor, she had a gut feeling that she needed to come speak with this woman. It was something about the name... she KNEW that name from somewhere...

Maybe her dad or one of her Uncles went to school with her? They always seemed to enjoy talking about the "old days" -- well, her dad did at least. She did not look THAT old though, so she felt that could not have been where she heard the name from.

She strolled down the corridor towards Professor Newton's office, and when she arrived, she noticed others were already there. She stood in the corner as she patiently waited for her turn to speak.

Art heard Rosie's voice and turned. "Hello Rosie, yes, absolutely," he said. He'd been meaning to drop by for a long time, and finally had the time. "How are you, love?" he asked, putting an arm around her shoulder for a little hug.

At least there were no students here, he could be himself and spend time with his lovely niece as an uncle, rather than a professional Professor to Professor conversation. Not that he didn't like having a new, Professional relationship with his niece, he was absolutely thrilled to have her working at Hogwarts, but he missed her as his niece right now. And that's who he wanted to catch up with. His niece.

Rosalyn smiled as she spotted her visitor. She hadn't had too many of them come by her office yet and company was always nice. Especially when she was trying hard to get to know the students. Unfortunately she still struggled with names but then that would be a problem for a while yet seeing how big a school Hogwarts was.

"Hello. How can I help you?" Did she have a question? Or was this a social visit? Either one was totally fine with Rosalyn.

It was wonderful to be able to have a chance to see her Uncle Art outside of a formal setting. Either way Rosalyn loved him, but it was better when they got to meet as family instead of colleagues. "I will make us a pot of our favourite tea!" she said happily as she hugged him. As to how she was feeling... "I couldn't be better. I had a bad headache earlier, but it seems to have vanished. Just spent some time in the kitchen with the house elves." Such amazing creatures.

"How are you?" she asked as she led the way into her office. Once inside, she set about putting the kettle on and putting together a snack for them. Mmm, scones.

Juno smiled at the professor. She really just wanted to say hi and welcome her back. Plus the professors little waiting area was getting full. "No, thank you professor. I really need to get back to my common room. We have a house party tonight and I need to get some classwork done." She smiled, hopefully the professor understood. "Again, Welcome! And I look forward to your classes!" Juno waved and headed towards the door.

Rosalyn had thought that Miss Darcy had wanted to stop by and talk for a bit but it was okay if she had other things to do; the Prefects had duties to perform on top of homework even if term had just started. It was very sweet of her to have stopped by to give a warm welcoming. Paul would definitely be proud if he knew about this. She nodded at Juno. "Well, thank you again for the welcoming. Have a good day." A House party sounded like a lot of fun; too bad she couldn't join in on the festivities though there would be other chances for her to have fun.

With a smile she watched as the girl walked off before heading back into her office so that she could get back to lesson planning.

If she had learned anything about proper etiquette growing up, it would be that leaving a room-sized area of space between you and someone else during a conversation was quite rude. That and not giving eye contact while you talk.

Rosalyn was in the mood for some fresh air after spending some time cooped up in her office doing grading. Even though the weather was rather cold now that didn't bother her all that much; winter was her favourite season and she would ALWAYS take being cold over hot any day of the week even though summer could be nice as well. Maybe she would go outside to the lake or take a nice walk along the pathways - one of the best parts of Hogwarts in her opinion. Seemed like that wasn't about to happen, however, as there was a visitor in her waiting area.

It was nice to see that she wasn't intimidating because really she DID try her best to not be and her personality was more on the easy going side than anything else. Rosalyn wasn't one to be very strict or unpleasant unless pushed to it. That name though... that gave her pause. Not the Juliette part, obviously. It was the McDean bit that gave her pause.

Maybe it was merely a coincidence though the name wasn't SUPER common or anything. Rosalyn was just going to play it off as not being anything super important though she was now rather curious. "Nice to meet you, Juliette and thank you for the welcoming. Do you want to come in for some tea and a snack?" It would be no problem and student company was always nice.

The third year just looked around the seating area, every single seating room was different and varying from professor to professor and the Scottish boy really noticed this over the last two to three years that he had been at Hogwarts. Bradson looked up as soon as he heard Professor Newton's voice.

The third year stood up and smiled at the woman. "I don't know, I'm just bored and need some social interactions." His song wasn't going all that well at the moment.

Oliver finished his breakfast quickly and nearly ran over to Professor Newton's office. This wasn't something he did often (talking to most professors actually made him nervous) but he had been wanting to speak to Newton because she's pretty about something he had read in his History of Magic book, and who better to go to than the History of Magic professor herself?

He went up to the door and knocked a few times before taking a seat in one of the very comfy chairs. He picked up one of the magazines on the table and flipped through it, trying to calm his nerves before the professor showed up.

There was nothing wrong with wanting some social interaction with a Professor and Rosalyn was more than happy to have a visit from one of her students. She nodded at the young boy. "Sounds good. You can come right in to my office." Probably would be better to talk if they could both sit comfortably and have some snacks - if he wanted any that was.

Opening the door, she waited for him to enter. "Would you like some tea? I also can make hot chocolate. I have cookies as well."

I know that's not really about History of Magic.....but it's something you know about..." Sure, there were other professors he could have asked, including his head of house, but this was such a good reason for him to talk to Newton. "I-Is that okay?"

It was nice to see students inquiring into different careers. Especially when they still had quite a bit of schooling to go. Oliver would have NEWTs coming up in a while, so this was the perfect time for him to sort this out. That is if he decided to go with a magical career; many people chose to go down the more muggle route and that obviously didn't require outstanding test scores in magical subjects.

"Of course. I'm always here to help my students however I can. What do you want to know about teaching?" She would try to be as helpful as possible.

Oh hey! She was willing to talk to him about this even though it was pretty early in the morning. Professor Newton really was just so nice. Okay...but he hadn't thought that far so he needed to think quick.

The first question made Rosalyn smile even if Oliver obviously thought it was silly judging by his body language. There was no such thing as a bad question, however, and she was just glad that he was interested in a career in education. "I think it's very rewarding. Teaching allows you to share knowledge with others - and of course learn things in the process." Students could be teachers as well. "It can be a little intimidating at first if you're shy, but it doesn't take long to get used to being in front of a class." She herself hadn't had any issues with nervousness but there were a lot of people who didn't like being in front of an audience.

More could be said on the matter, but Oliver wanted to know about something else. "There is no need for extensive studying at university," she assured him. "Very good scores on OWLs and NEWTs are needed in the subject you would want to teach as well as patience because people who are just out of Hogwarts are too young to become teachers immediately." Basically there were no 18 year old professors. "Also remember that it is possible for a teacher to begin practical study of another subject if they decide to switch over to it." So Professors didn't have to stick to teaching the same subject for their entire career.

As Professor Newton began to talk about teaching, Ollie slowly grew less and less nervous, which he was beyond grateful for. "Yeeaah...I get pretty nervous sometimes. Especially if I'm talking to a large group." It had taken him about five years just to get comfortable answering questions in class, really.

And now he was actually learning more than he'd thought he would. He honestly never knew the whole teachers can switch subjects thing. But it didn't really make sense to him... "Okay, that's cool and all but what if I do really well in Charms and really badly in potions, so one day I teach charms, but then after a while I want to teach potions......I'd have to do something to make up for my bad score in Potions, right?" It was perfectly understandable that Oliver would feel nervous at times especially when he was talking in front of a large group of people. Rosalyn nodded. "I used to get like that too when I was younger. I think getting used to it by doing presentations really helped. I also find that it was easier after practicing in front of a mirror." Those were only two ways that could help with public speaking; of course there were more but everyone was different and what helped her might not necessarily work for him.

"Good question," she added before giving the matter a moment's thought. "Well, in that example, it would definitely be a good idea to study potioneering at university. I'll also note that studying in university isn't a bad idea even if it's a subject you're good at; I studied History of Magic there just to have extra knowledge. Not mandatory, but not a bad idea. Depends on what you're comfortable with. Definitely would recommend it when it comes to a subject that you don't feel you are the best at." Did he understand what she was saying? Or did he need some more clarification?

Also... "What subject would you be interested in teaching?" Just curious.

Marking was one of the more tedious parts of teaching as far as most people in the profession were concerned, but Rosalyn didn't have a huge problem with it. At least not when the assignments were more along the lines of posters as opposed to say essays. Fortunately she didn't assign too many of the latter, though she was stuck with marking them at the moment. And out of tea AGAIN. Sigh. She really needed to get some more, but for the moment she supposed that she would just use some of her Uncle's. At least it wasn't a long walk from the first floor to the dungeons.

About to do that, she heard a knock on her the door. Okay, looked like the drink would have to wait because there was a student who wanted to see her.

Reaching the door, she opened it and smiled. "Hello, Miss Delgado. How can I help you?"
