It was early December and that certainly meant that it would be a nippy morning. However, Kay had seen to it that her classroom was warm enough for her students. She herself had built a roaring fire at the back of the class in the fireplace. Once you have been greeted by Professor Stewart who is standing at the entrance, you enter to notice the whiteboard poised at the front.
The seating arrangement is set up as per usual: there was a path in the middle of the room with an equal number of desks and chairs on either side. Towards the end of this path, you’ll recognise Kaysha’s laptop and projector set up on a small desk which you should NOT touch.
There are no indications about what today’s lesson will be about as yet. Take your seat and feel free to chat a bit with your friends.
OOC: Heya, guys! Welcome to the first OOC lesson! I hope you have read the rules before posting. We will move on in the usual 24 hours. Please keep chatting to a minimum! Thanks! CLASS HAS STARTED!

Azura smiled as she watched Dorothy and the scarecrow interact on the screen and she settled down into her seat a bit more.. fully absorbed in the movie. She hadn't wanted any snacks but she thanked the house elves anyways for all that they were doing for them...
She cringed a little though as they moved through the dark forest and closed her eyes at the part of the trees grabbing Dorothy, but thankfully they got away! And hey! There was the tin man!
Oil can!
Azura giggled a little as she thought of it being chocolate syrup in the can. She wouldn't mind some of that being squirted in her mouth.. Also she remembered a bit if a fact.. that the person who originally was going to play the Tin Man was allergic to the silver makeup and they had to get someone new to play him!

Hey there was the color! It happened after the tornado scene, when the house had safely landed. Yes, she definitely was not in Kansas anymore. Olly immediately liked it better not that it was in color and not weird. And he was glad that she still had the dog, who was apparently a big part of the move.
When more singing started he was initially a bit way because sometimes too much singing was boring. He hadn't really enjoyed the first song. But this one was much more upbeat and there was a lot going on. A bunch of munchkins were coming out and singing. Okay that was pretty cool. There were so many different things that he could focus on and it held his attention really well. Maybe he wouldn't mind the rest of the songs.
They was going to watch the movie. Katerina did a little happy dance in her chair. She did go ahead and put her things away so she wouldn't mess with anything. Not that she was going to do that her complete attention was going to be on the move.
Kat took some cookies from the house elves, You always had to have some kind of snack when you watched a movie. It was a must, She settled down and got comfy. Warm classroom, fussy socks, snacks and a movie. Could this lesson get any better?
OH NO The tornado was coming. TAKE COVER. She watched as everyone ran around getting eveyone and everything to safety and Dorothy and Toto running home only to get into the house, and get knocked out by a piece of the house and get sucked up into the twister.
OMG. She wondered if that was really like how it was inside a tornado?

Olly crossed his arms on his desk in front of him and rested his head on his arms. That was a pretty comfortable way to watch the rest of the movie. There wasn't too much singing, and he was glad for that. The rest of the little tunes that did happen were pretty catchy and he didn't mind them. The rest of the characters were pretty cool. He decided that his favorite was the tin man.
He was scared when the wicked witch took Toto. He wanted the dog to be okay but Dorothy was trapped and it didn't look like she'd be able to get out of that situation. But her friends came to save her so it was alright. Even though the cowardly lion was scared, he went along to save Dorothy. They were all good friends. And it made Olly wonder what houses each of those characters would be in if they were real and went to Hogwarts. Heh. He thought the cowardly lion would probably be a Hufflepuff.

The movie seemed to be over and Dorthy was back at home. You were in it and you were in it and you... Yeah she had those type of dreams before, thankfully the potions kept dreams away most of the time. Turning her eyes back to her parchment she figured she better finish....
SPOILER!!: lala
Kelly,
Okay so I'm sitting in Muggle Studies. I'm assuming you are in here somewhere, but I got here late. Next time make sure I'm ready to go in time. Anyway did you see me fall? I can't even deal. At least it was dark so if certain people were in here they didn't fully see me face plant the floor. Can you believe we are watching this movie? I just don't know how anyone even likes it. More important thing though. Since the bloody music room is locked and it doesn't seem we can get in, where are we going to practice now. Should we try the room of requirement or maybe just our dorm room? The room of requirement might be best then we can have instruments.
Also remind me to tell you later about Miami and Cal things. I thought things would be different now that I'm back, but I feel like some things have just picked right back up again. Not the awful things, but the people things. Oh and I still haven't told you about Alex, make sure I tell you about that too. I still can't even deal with that. Maybe I need to talk to Zay, but I but Zay so much that I'm afraid he'll be the next to stop being my friend.
Well anyone the movie seems to be finally over so I guess I better end this and get it folded. Meet me in our dorms right after dinner.
She started folding it up into a little football shape so that she could easily pass it to Kelly without anyone else knowing. Slipping into her robe pocket she turned her head looking for the professor to see if they were able to leave now that it was over or if there was more going on after.
Happy endings were a must for Kitty to like a movie, and the Wizard of Oz did not disappoint. Dorothy would get to keep Toto and she recognized her frieNds from Oz in her friends from the real world. The credits rolled across the scene and the inspiring music began to play.
Kitty clapped enthusiastically. "Thank you for the movie professor, that was really fun. We should watch another movie next time." She looked around for the house elves to thank too.
"What was YOUR favorite scene in Wizard of Oz, Professor Stewart?" Kitty asked curiously.

Most EVERYONE was completely newbish to the movie experience, obviously. And she was personally annoyed at Blaise and Genny both for talking as much as they were. Sure, the movie speakers were quite loud, but the undertones of their voices were still audible, like a low rumbling sound. SHUSH, you two. RELAX... and simply enjoy the brilliance that was this film. Also, the brilliance that was Ms. Judy Garland.
.....And GOSH, it always annoyed the blond at how everyone seemed totally persistent in ignoring Dorothy's pleas for help against Ms. Gulch. That awful woman. Liv could relate, obviously. It was hard dealing with adults. They always thought that everything they had going on in their own lives was of the utmost importance. More important than anything that could be happening to anyone around them. Ugh! Liv felt frustrated for her. Never failed.
....AND HER SONG.
As Dorothy lead into the first notes... 'It's far, far away....Behind the moon, beyond the rain....'
So not to disturb other movie goers, Liv quietly sang along to each note, everyone word... but in more of a whispering tone; unlike she had at the beginning of class. Ugh, it never failed to inspire the feels deep within. The imagery it provided was just lovely, and Judy Garland was, without a doubt one of the all-time great songbirds in history. The way she could make each word sound like a dream...
Olivia had teared up slightly...and wasn't at all embarrassed for it.
Sniffle, sniffle.
.... and, OF COURSE, that led into Ms. Gulch popping up to ruin everyone's day with her nastiness. UGH. AWFUL WOMAN. Liv was positive that, had she been in that situation, she would've set that mean old lady's shoes on fire. Just... HOW DARE?!

Now that the movie was finished she wondered if she could see Kelly in the room. Her brown eyes scanned the room, but it was just too dark. Maybe she'd see her after class, but Nat wasn't sure she had even come. Usually they sat together, but she knew that she had been late.
Sighing she went back to her chocolate frogs and brownies she had gotten from pips. Maybe he still had some popcorn. That sounded good as well. Sipping some of her drink she kept watch of the class to see what was next.

While the professor actually made sense Tak still didn't understand how a really old movie would help HIM understand current Muggles. He had grown up around Muggles. He respected and understood them. So this class really did nothing to him. He was trying to pay attention though, and so the third year had rested his head in his hand....and then perhaps had fallen asleep

Katerina was totally tapping her feet and And now Dorothy and Toto was off down the yellow brick to find the wizard of Oz. Little did they know the adventure they were about to have. You know it was always better to watch a movie that she hadn't seen before. It was a good thing that she loved this movie.
Hey scarecrow, hey. It must be hard to walk on legs made of straw. She laughed the scarecrow was so silly. So now he was going to join them on their journey to the emerald city to find the wizard. Pfff if it was only that easy to go find a brain. She would go find one from some people. Opps that was a very unhufflepuff thought there.
Hehe apple trees throwing apples at them. Those apples should not be eaten, Kat was pretty sure that behind the scenes the wicked witch had poisoned those apples. And now the tin man. Yeah, so now the more she thought about it the tin man was her favorite character or one of them at least one of her favorite.
The wicked witch, ding dong the wicked witch is dead. okay okay not yet not yet. But there she was and she warning them.
Lions and tigers and bears oh my! lions and tigers and bears Oh my
There was the lion, the cowardly lion, quite possibly the silliest character of the whole movie. Now the four of them, and Toto to where going to find the wizard of Oz. Four new friends and a dog on a journey to find a wizard, what could go wrong, right?

Olivia could say, without a doubt, that some of her favorite parts of the film came as soon as it switched over from the black and white. In bright, beautiful technicolor, MUNCHKINLAND was introduced, and with it... awesome music. Just, catchy brilliant songs. EXPOSITION, musical style. It gave the Gryffindor LIFE, to be honest.
".....and Kansas, she says, is the name of the star."
Practically vibrating in her chair, the struggle was real not to bounce up onto her feet and actually begin performing this entire scene. It just so darn catchy... AND THE MUNCHKINS SINGING...
".....which was not a healthy situation for the Wicked Witch...."
Clearly, but that could be called karma, you know. Like, if you did bad things, bad stuff happened to you in return. Olivia wasn't sure if she really believed in this concept, but she'd heard about it loads from adults in her family. Because in general, adults thought they knew everything. Again.
".....And she's not only merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead."
... Meaning she was dead. Very, VERY dead. Never coming back again, basically. But, OOH! Another favorite, which was just a small aspect to this entire scene... The Lullaby League and the Lollypop Guild! When she'd been younger, Liv had always been a little infatuated with them because the Lullaby League entered into the center of the crowd en pointe. To be honest, it'd only encouraged Liv to want to dance en pointe that much harder. And... Well, the Lollypop Guild carried humongous lollypops (or the one in green did, anyway). This really explained itself, if you asked her. #CandyObsessed
".....And in the name of the Lullaby League, we wish to welcome you to Munchkinland!"
CUE THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST... and the thievery of the ruby slippers right off her dead sister's corpse. Really, the woman hadn't even been dead a day... Relatives. Well, Dorothy wasn't a relative, but you could understand the necessity that she have them instead of Ms. Gulch, a la green!face.

Char continued to watch not quite knowing what was going on but gradually finding herself invested in the fairy tale element of the movie.
Ooooh look a metal man!
..... What was he saying? Oil can? Char wished she could tap Dorothy on the shoulder and let her know the can was right th-- oh she found it! How weird was this? He didn't have a heart? Like the warlock with the hairy heart maybe?
But he seemed like a nice person to her! Not like that horrible so called good witch that wouldn't even give the other witch her own sister's shoes. What was fair about that?
Char found herself more and more engrossed. What would happen next?

Haha. What could go wrong? Mmmmm pretty much everything.
As the movie went on things started to go down the ultimate show down between the good witch and the wicked witch. With Dorothy, the scarecrow, the tin man and the lion, oh and Toto too right in the middle of it. Whoa this is getting good. This would be the part where she would aggressively be eating popcorn, with her eyes glued to the movie.
So the group was so SO close to the Emerald City, But the wicked witch wasn't going to have that. The wicked wizard made a field of poppy flowers make them fall asleep. Can you imagine if flowers really did make you go to sleep? Katerina would be sleeping for days with as much as she was around flowers. But the good witch came to save them by waking thing with snow. YEP frostbite those poppys Glinda. Hehe.
So now back on the yellow brick road, they finally made it to where the wizard of Oz was. The were met by of course more munchkins, and a horse of a different color. WHOA . That was cool, the horse changed colors. She wanted one, she was going to write her parents for one. Kat keep acting like she had never seen this movie before. Where they there for a spa day or something? That was really what in seem like there.
So they finally meet the wizard of Oz, who couldn't.... more like wouldn't help them unless they bought him the wicked witch's broom.
Adventure on the yellow brick road part two.

((I'm sorry that the resonces are so minimal. In real life I have never even seen the Wizard of oz so...I'm going on with what I've heard from others...))

Jonas sat back after he had downed the rest of his hot chocolate. A warm stomach plus a fire was not a good combination when you were trying to stay awake! But he couldn't help himself as he laid his head on his desk. No...have to stay awake. So instead, he opt for sitting back in his chair. But...this wasn't working. He grumbled and silently raised his hand to have the professor walk over. He needed to step outside for a bit to wake himself up.
When it was finally over it wasn't like hadn't seen a hundred million times before. Okay not that many times, but enough times that, now she was really starting to wonder if all of that was actually a dream. It was weird and quite possible. Dreams were a weird and informal thing. If the movie and book was a dream. It would make since.
Dorothy was in the middle of running away when the tornado hit, she was worried about her aunt. So the dream or the time she was in the land of Oz she wanted to get back home to make sure her aunt was safe. She wasn't sure why but it made her think a lot about dreams now. She would have to go look up stuff about dream interpretations after they got out of the class.

Post 3: The Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion
Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese
Bye, munchkins! Goodbye!
... and off on down the yellow brick road Dorothy went, dancing and singing her little heart out. Sure, one could easily start out this way, all full of excitement and energy, but it could also run out pretty quick; considering what ones stamina looks like. And that appeared to be a very LONG road, you know? Liv had been dancing ballet since she was three years old, and not even her own stamina could've kept up with it. So.
It was almost blasphemy that Olivia hadn't taken the house elves up on their offer of snacks and movie!time goodies.... BUT SHE WAS ENGROSSED, you see. More of her favorite scenes were coming up... Okay, honestly, the entirety of the movie was her favorite, but that was truly beside the point. Of the three songs belonging to Dorothy's companions, the scarecrow one always made her want to sing along, and as it began, the Gryffindor tried her very best to keep a lid on her musical urges, but... Well, she was a tried and true child of the theatre! It was fruitless pursuit... Especially when Dorothy's small part began...
"With the thoughts you'd be thinkin'... you could be another Lincoln, if you oooonly had a braaaain." Liv wasn't even sorry. This was her lifeblood! Also, the costuming in this movie was simply A+. That facial makeup on the Scarecrow was so realistic looking, that one could easily think he truly was a man made of straw. And A+ acting, as well, because the dancing and shaky, sloppy motions were so perfect for the persona he'd taken on! It never failed to impress this one, needless to say!
".....We're off to see the Wizard, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz...."
Thankfully, she'd regained her facilities enough NOT to belt that one out. Hehe, but just know that it had been VERY HARD. Also, the Scarecrow was super smart to think of insulting the trees to get them to toss their own apples. So, clearly he had somewhat of a brain. Ideas didn't just come from your stomach, you know?... Although, how very funny would that be? If you had to feed your tummy to get ideas. Though, she supposed you did have to eat to get your brain working, as well. Food was just awesome like that.
....AND THE TIN MAN!
Again, she didn't really believe the bit about him not having a heart. If he couldn't feel affection, then he never would've been able to call Dorothy a friend. One couldn't have friends without feeling things for them.... Or maybe that was just her. Heh, it was all very confusing, anyway. She tended to love all her friends, therefore... er, you know...
"Oil can. Oiiiiil caaaan."
Imagine holding up an axe for a whole year, though. His poor arm. But apparently the Tin Man wasn't too sore and what have you, because in the next few moments, he was dancing around and singing (with the help of more oiling, mind you), which had more of her favorite parts! There wasn't any vocalized singing from her this time, but she did grin very widely with the "Wherefore art thou, Romeo?" line... Ah, the dramatic nature of it all. Olivia loved them.... but also, why hadn't she and Roo thought to branch out into Shakespeare yet? That would be something to discuss.
.....AND CUE THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST, AGAIN! Featuring an Incendio! spell.
Lions, and tigers, and bears, OH MY! Lions, and tigers, and bears, OH MY! Lions, and tigers, and bears, OH MY! RAAAAAAAAR!
... and, of course, the Cowardly Lion was trying to fight people right away. Liv could never take him seriously, but it only added to the comedy of his performance. For that reason alone, it was more than acceptable!

Katy was quite happy to eat her popcorn and drink her cocoa and occasionally hoot at the screen... mostly because she was lost and didn't quite get the appeal of this over-dramatic mess. But there was food and people were all talking all the time, and they didn't have to take notes.
Best class ever.
And then that sugar-and-spice-for-brains Liv started singing along. It wasn't like the movie was good enough for Katy's attention not to wander to trying to snag popcorn kernels in the curls of her stupid hair. Take THAT, Liver-and-onions.

Ooooh the poppies were so pretty! Charlotte was pretty sure, if it were her, she would want to run through a field of poppies herself, but not because of the apparently emerald castle in the distance, more for the sheer joy of it.
Oh but look, they were falling asleep.... Or at least the living characters were. Char didn't honestly think much of the hag's magic if she could only put the living to sleep and not find a way to stop the others. And really at least it was sleep and not death. Poppys could kill couldn't they?
She mused on this as the adventure continued, ooh'd and aahh'd over the color changing horse, and generally tried to puzzle over what Oz had given them. He wasn't a wizard at all was he?
Also she thought it was pretty mean to melt the hag. She had only wanted her sisters shoes!
It wasn't until the end when Dorothy pointed it out herself that Char realised it had been the same people in Oz.... wait, so it was a dream? Oh.... That was disappointing. Hmmmmm.
.... She really wanted to read the book now!

As he walked around giving students the food he was happy that they seemed happy. "You are welcome masters. Pips can give you more if you like some." As he turned to another row he heard master Henry say about popcorn.
"Pips can get it. Pips go get popcorn for masters." He set the tray down and popped way.

"Pips sorry ma'am, he didn't mean to honk his nose loudly."
Wait, Pips was going to get him some popcorn just because he asked? That was pretty awesome. In fact, the little elf popped away before Henry could even say anything to him. And he was back just in time for the colored (and best) portion of the movie. Not in Kansas anymore, Toto.
"Aw, thanks, Pips. You're the best." He grinned at the house elf and took the bowl of popcorn. Yep, he was the best house elf as in his new favorite. The fourth year chuckled as the elf honked his own nose, and Henry turned his attention back to the movie. The munchkins and their welcoming songs to Dorothy were mildly amusing.

As the movie carried on, the Gryffindor found herself slipping further beneath the magic that was brilliant acting! For example, like when they'd ran across the field of poppies and had quite suddenly been put to sleep... It was simply so good. The Cowardly Lion had been especially convincing after the snow had arrived. And the horse of a different color! Olivia would've sworn magic had been used on it. Had witches and wizards been working in the muggle firm industry around this time? Or was it just a clever technique employed by film studios?
ALSO THE MAKEOVERS. Dorothy looked much more fabulous with her hair down. And the Cowardly Lion with his new hair bow and curls. Very avant garde!

.....AND, AGAIN, CUE THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST! Stalk much?? Teasing, teasing. She was easily Olivia's favorite character in the film, even though the horse of a different color came in a close second.
...and the meeting with Oz, which she'd always found to be slightly bullying and rude. Even more so after the reveal of him simply being a normal man behind a curtain. It could be considered disappointing, really... but in her very honest opinion, the best films had high points and low points. So, it didn't bother has as much as it might the next person. She could appreciate all the wonderful music and acting to cover up any stupid plot points. Hmmm.
Once they were on their way to defeat the witch, Liv took a moment to stand and stretch before retaking her seat. Too much sitting made her restless, you see. Her attention didn't like to be too focused on any one thing for too long, but this was almost over and then they'd be moving along to their next lesson of the day. This wasn't one of the more exciting parts, so, as she usually did, her attention drifted slightly... but not for long, as soon enough, a bucket of water was being thrown in the Wicked Witch of the West's face.... and she was "....MELTING..... WITHERING IN AGONY. Yes, much painful.....SO MUCH DRAMAZ.... "Oooooh, look out! I'm going! Oooooh! Ooooooh!"
Poof.
Wicked Liv of the West was no more.....
Kay had clapped rather heartily when Olivia reacted to the movie. Now that it was over, she simply had to tell the girl her thoughts. "Ms Phillips. Might I just say that you have quite the talent for this sort of thing. You sing rather excellently and your acting is quite captivating to watch.'' Call Kay 'impressed'!
"That concludes the lesson for today, everyone! I hope you enjoyed ot even if it was a just a bit.'' She knew she couldn't please everyone and wasn't going to try but Kay would feel as though she did her part if the students just had at least a little of a good time. Olivia's constant singing throughout the was one of those rewards. "Kindly put your cups on my desk so that they can easily be collected. Also ensure there are no cookie or other crumbs left at your desks. Thank you all so much for coming! Feel free to take some extra snacks on your way out and to thank the elves.''
OOC: Thanks, you lot, for attending! I shall leave the class open for a few more hours in case you want to post your charries leaving but note, any posts with reactions to the movie after this one will NOT be counted for credit.
Kay had just taken a bite of her cookie when the honking happened. She jumped a bit, the sound being unexpected. A moment of blinking and staring around at her students happened before Kay realised it was Pips who made the sound. She laughed very quietly. "It's quite fine, Pips.'' She expected the elf was just happy about being able to help Henry with the popcorn.
Kaysha couldn't help but beam. Certainly Kitty had enjoyed every bit of the lesson. The woman stood up and once the credits were done, she powered down the laptop, switched the projector off then readjusted the lights.
"We surely will, Ms Valentine.'' Seeing as this was such a success, there was no doubt that she would be doing another move sometime later. "Oh, mine would be when the Wicked Witch was melting. As a young girl, I would make my dad repeatedly play that scene. I remember cheering for Dorothy.'' She smiled before moving on.

The movie finally finally ended. Jonas really did enjoy it. It seemeed like he was the only one who did.
"Great movie professor" Jonas said after cleaning up his mess. He then found his way out of the room blinking his eyes at the sudden brightness.
At this point in the movie, Blaise could no longer be sure of what he was watching. Sure, he got the CONCEPT behind the movie but Merlin's soggy beard was he the only one who realized how easily half this stuff could have been avoided--and how laughable it was to expect the merry band of misfits to successfully carry out a rescue mission based on everything else the movie had shown? For all their good intentions, life didn't work that way.
The shoes...he would liken to the Elder wand for the sake of his own sanity but sweet holy kneazle killing for a pair of shoes? Couldn't she just....make another pair....? Or....remove the feet? That would kinda be like disarming, wouldn't it?
The Gryffindor didn't have much time to ponder this however, as Genny went on to explain about theatres being outside on floating screens. "Muggle theatres? Floating screens? I didn't know they could do that sort of thing." Floating...was typically magic, wasn't it? That was something to ponder."I've never been to a theatre either but now I'm thinking I'll need to visit one during the summer." This class didn't count as a theatre. Hardly. Not even when the elves brought popcorn that he would also be having none of.
Merlin, he'd only looked away from the screen for a moment and now the witch was melting. What...how.....why....? Huh? "Do you think we should even question it at this point?" Melting. Wow. Right then.
The action in this movie sucked. It was simply terribly. Genny sat there with a what-the-fudge-was-going-on face directed at the screen. Thank goodness she had fun company or she would've gathered her stuff and left. Aaanyway. The floating screen theaters were totally a thing. "They could. They have electricity. It's almost like Magic but it makes sense." She said absently because the company on the screen were running away from monkeys and the 'evil witch' was holding her broom and running after them. "That is an insult to every broomstick in the entire world, past present and future." Like??? Ew??? That was NOT how their broomsticks looked like.
... wait, what did Blaise say?? "We can visit them together." She blurted out spontaneously. It'd be unfair if he went alone without her when she was the only who told him about it. Her dark brown eyes found his and tried to convey that sentiment.
Then the witch on screen screamed and Genny's attention was quickly stolen away. "Melted??? From water??" Just no. She scowled at the motion pictures. "This movie is so offensive to wizards." She shook her head at Blaise's question. "Not gonna question it anymore, nope." The movie was quickly coming to an end. And that good witch that looked like a badly dressed bride? Yah, SO not what good witches looked like. Genny gave her a disgusted look. "I'll be darned if they thought good witches looked like that, too." Ew! Too pinky and dumb for Genny.
There's no place like home, was one thing Genny could be on board with... if it wasn't uttered in that way. But alright, whatever.

"Ugh finally." Genny did smile at the professor when she ended the lesson. It wasn't like she was the one who wrote and directed the movie so it wasn't her fault the movie was generally offensive to wizards and broomsticks. Turning to Blaise, Genny's smile remained on her face, "I had fun watching this nonsense with you today, Blaise. We should do that more often." Her things were in her arms now, "See you around!"
