It was no secret that Rooney's favourite part of a duel was the bowing beforehand. He hated the attention that came with the rest of it and he also hated that his brain and wand worked against him and turned him into this duelling bully that made girls cry. And then made him cry afterwards. It was really a vicious cycle that he secretly adORED. THE THRILL. THE FLOURISH. OH THE EXCITEMENT. The fifth year did not need that sort of power handed to him as well as his badge. Actually, maybe his favourite part was just ALL OF IT.
Professor Hirsch was going to love this, wasn't he? Disgusting.
The Ravenclaw bowed before his opponent, another Hufflepuff ugh, and got himself ready. He didn't need much time, because as soon as he was assured they were both in position, he began with his wand pointed at his opponent and cast immediately. "Colloshoo!!" Hey, he was ensuring that the dope over there wasn't going to be running away from the next spell he sent his way. The Scorching Spell came literal seconds later and Rooney was already rather pleased with himself and bouncing on the balls of his feet, eagerly awaiting everything.
Not sorry.

Although this wasn't Silas first duel in combat before, he had anticipated this moment since the day he joined this club. Silas prepped to get ready for his turn up in the arena. Stepping into position, he bowed back in return before drawing his wand at the ready. Silas smirked, expecting the first offensive attack to be cast upon him as soon as the match began. Huh. One of the few important things he learnt from all the training he had was to never underestimate his opponent skills. It seemed that the Ravenclaw prefect had forgotten all about that. He cast the finite before Bronwyn second spell hit him and quickly cast the Extinguishing spell on his dancing fire next. It was rather much too weak, to be honest.
He couldn't help smile before casting the Featherlight charm upon himself. Oh, and the Ears to Kumquats counter-spell towards the Ravenclaw. Simple but effective nonetheless.

Rooney cursed quietly at his wand and dived to the floor as the spell came his way. He felt the rush of air as the magic went past him and threw himself back up onto his feet with a wiggle of jazz. "UNSTEADY YOURSELF, MAIDEN!" Yes, he knew his opponent wasn't a girl, but it was all in the fun and he was grinning wide to make sure it was evident. "Magicus Extremos!!" And because the Hufflepuff before him was good at avoiding spells sent his way with a simple bunch of flopsy wopsy boring boringo, Roo added another spell.
He was copying Miss Charlotte, you see. The whole one-two thing she did. He knew her strategy in and out, or so he liked to think.
"FURNUNCULUS!" Boom boom boom, beat that badger boy.
Actually, no..don't beat that. FAIL AND GET GROSS.

Silas avoided Rooney's 'powerful' throw spell by reflecting it back to the Ravenclaw prefect. "Protego!" Did he just call him a girl? Had his appearance changed somehow during the duel? Silas lips quirked up into a small amused smile. It didn't provoke him in the slightest, but it did make him wonder if Bronwyn had taken a liking to his face. It was no secret he wore his beautiful face proudly. And this beautiful face would not like it if they are covered with pimples and boils. No Sir! And so, he simply ducked in time before the spell could actually reach him. "Fulgari!"he cast back his own offensive spell.

Crud. Rooney wasn't expecting the other boy's shield to send his spell caveering back at him and it caught him off his guard. In fact, so much off his guard that as he was thrown through the air, he span and landed flat on his stomach, nose bashing against the floor. "Owwwwwwwww" And a big bunch of swears as he wiped his hand under the nose. Blood. Oh man, not what he needed... With a groan, Rooney left his nose to trickle blood as there wasn't too much flow to it and he went back to his duel in enough time to catch the second spell sent his way. "PROTEGO!" He shouted, giving his wand a wave and thankfully watching the magic bounce back and disperse nearby.
Phew. That had been good timing.
And he was still a little bit annoyed about his nose bleeding and nothing seeming to work against this guy, so he was planning at least fifty strategies to test out. First one was in motion as of NOW. "HERBIFORS!" Rooney realised that he was louder than usual with his casting, but honestly was putting his all into each of them in hopes that they worked. As that spell went in the direction of the Hufflepuff, he sent the next one immediately after. And by immediately...it was immediate. Barely a second between both of the wand movements...and actually, if someone hadn't been paying close attention, it would have looked like he had cast them seamlessly together. "FUMOS!"
The dark cloud of smoke grew bigger and bigger until it was exactly what Rooney had hoped for it. He hadn't used the spell in a duel before, and typically only used it to make his dorm mates wake up in darkness. But this was good enough.

Silas blinked in surprise when his spell knocked Rooney backwards, causing him to face plant onto the floor quite literally. Was the boy's nose bleeding?! Oh no..."Hey, are you alright?" concerned for the Ravenclaw prefect. Shouldn't the Professor stop the match and attend to his injury? Apparently not. Rooney kept on shooting spells back at him immediately after. Silas managed to avoid by ducking quickly. Thanks to his featherlight charm, he could avoid his incoming attacks without breaking a sweat. Suddenly dark clouds surrounded them and he couldn't see. Uh oh, not good...there was no way he could get himself out from this. What should he do now? Oh...he had an idea. He cast the disillusionment spell upon himself. Once the smoke dissipates...Silas would be no more in sight.

Unsteady yourself, Maiden? Hirsch stared at his Ravenclaw Prefect in disbelief. Was this some new slang that was going around that he wasn't aware of? Or some new tactic to unhinge your opponent? Regardless, the man was confused.
But the duel continued and he let it continue, even if he really wanted to step forward when the boy started bleeding. Sure, cuts and bruises were to be expected from this club but it didn't mean that he liked to see it happening to his students. So, it continued in a dramatic fashion, because if he got caught in the crossfire, the situation would probably be a lot worse.
Speaking of the crossfire, it had to come to a stop so, when the time was up, the man struck up the shield. With the coast clear, he moved forwards and straight towards the Prefect himself. Sorry, Anakin. "Rooney? Are you okay? Do you need anything?"
