Welcome to your third duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Jinx Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

Professor Hirsch will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the Dueling Club rules, the DADA rules as well as the SS Site rules.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 20th of November by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

Azura walked into the dueling ring and the fourteen year old stopped short as she saw whom she would be dueling against.
Olivia Phillips.
Azura's mind started to race as she looked at the other girl and she started to unconsciously touch her dark hair. She bit her lip a little as she tilted her head.. wondering about the Gryffindor and Jace.. were they like a thing now? Were they boyfriend and girlfriend? Would Liv mind if Az still hung out with Jace? Could she still hang out with him?
Azura could respect the fact if she didn't want her too. A guy with a girl best friend..
Did this mean that she and Jace couldn't be friends anymore? Would he even want too?
Azura was Ravenclaw-ing herself down into a spiral and she totally forgot that she needed to go first.. instead she just kinda bowed and attempted not to cry.. |

Olivia entered the arena in a much different fashion, truly EXCITED to be facing Princess Azula today. She'd found out beforehand on the announcement board, hoping to prepare herself for whichever opponent she was paired up with... because that was the smart thing to do. That was the type of thing that guaranteed success.
So... the blonde wasn't at all shocked to see the raven haired beauty standing across the way from her, also decked out in the appropriate dueling attire. She also seemed quite sad.
Was something the matter then?
Never losing her smile, Liv also bowed, prepared for a sneak attack; wand ready. These Ravenclaws, man. She'd had enough experience with them to know of their slick ways. Intimately.

Azura bit her lip as she waited for the Gryffindor to do something, she was hoping the other girl would aim something at her and she would be able to defend.. but no such luck...
Fwoopers.. She was really going to have to do this thing wasn't she? Azura bit her lip a little as she sucked in a breath. She closed her bright eyes for just a moment, attempting to center herself and stop the spiral she was caught it..
This was a duel.. Jace wasn't the type of person to just abandon her because she might have hurt his potential whatever she was.. in a duel.
She just needed to remember that!
She had been practicing so hard for this as well! Now that her auditions were over she had extra time for things and magic practicing was right up there.. as were non verbal charms..
Now she wasn't super great at them and could only manage to do first year spells, but thankfully a first year spell was all she needed! Sadly though she remembered just in time that she wasn't allowed to do a non verbal spell in dueling club because she wasn't a 5th year yet..
And so Azura aimed her wand at the pretty blonde girl and said in the softest of whispers "Colloshoo!"
To throw the girl off she also cast a quick and much louder "Obscuro!" She cast a feather light charm on herself and took a breath, she was ready to do this thing!

Olivia was completely oblivious to her opponents angst over Jacen Reed. See, she didn't see the problem, given that Azura had her boyfriend, Chris. So, surely she wasn't hung up over Liv showing interest in him. Friends should be happy for one another....right? She would've been, anyway.
Also, she had her eyes GLUED on the Ravenclaw and her wand. The rumor was that Azura fancied herself competent in nonverbal spells...and as a Ravenclaw, Liv felt that anything was possible; due to the knowledge that as a house, they were known to be crafty and overly talented. Actually, she could vouch for this, with Rooney, Corbin, and Casper in mind. Anyway, thanks to her continued scrutiny, the wand motion for.....something was happening and without thinking, Liv popped off with "Protego!" Not to rebound, but just to protect herself. Rebounding spells took a bit more thought and she was planning to get deep in the zone here. No time for all that. #Gryffindor
"Mollaire!" Battling the Obscuro! spell with her own Cushioning Charm, because it provided an invisible cushion barrier, she quickly turned her wand onto herself, shouting the incantation to make herself Feather-Light. Unlike others, this was a technique she'd learned through Charlotte Kettleburn directly. So, it was definitely secondhand nature at this point, and something she 'never left home without'. Basically.
Whew, her heart was racing, excitement and adrenaline taking hold of her lithe dancer's frame. Olivia had known this girl would be a good opponent. So, as a byproduct, it had made her more eager. It was always good when people could be evenly matched!
Shifting around on the arena floor, she whipped out with her wand, casting the Ears to Kumquats spell. It was Transfiguration and not at all her strongest subject, by far, but with it being lower level, she'd managed it a few times with success. Here's hoping!

Two Fealtherlight Charms cast in one duel? Was Charlotte Kettleburn watching?
An amused smile spread across his lips as he turned his head to look up at the stands. It was nice to see the influence from fellow students, especially someone who was advanced in their duelling abilities. It meant that they were learning something as well just by watching the duels take place or by working with a fellow student. It was all about that extra effort.
Nevertheless, he was interested to see how this duel would progress. There were two very smart girls who were both good at duelling but had different approaches to the competition as a whole. See? Interesting. And he wasn't disappointed with the outcome and the number of spells flying around consecutively.
What he was disappointed with, however, was the lack of time remaining with these duels. He would've liked to see this duel continue to see what kind of spells the two would conjure up but, alas, another pair needed to take to the stage. Sorry. The shield was struck up, making Miss Phillips's last spell redundant.
"Excellent! Really well done to both of you. There's been some progress here in terms of duelling abilities." Remind him to set them up for even harder duels next term, okay? As for now........ "While you've put up a great fight, Azura, it's Miss Phillips that takes the lead today. Congratulations!"
