This would be a fun duel! Charlotte was pretty sure at least, given her and Aslan were friends now and everything. Char arrived early and spent a few minutes bouncing around and stretching and getting herself amped up while she waited for the older girl. It was really too bad Daxton wasn't around to come and watch them, she was pretty sure he'd enjoy it a whole lot!

But here she was and it was time to get started.

"Hi Aslan! Are you ready?" Char went through all the traditional steps with paces and bows and saluting and then she got right into it, quick as a whip, shooting a stream of bluebell flames in Aslan's direction, the goal being distraction with the brightness - hopefully it wouldn't give her too much of a headache, and it wouldn't be any more than a hint of a singe, given that the bluebell flames weren't theoretically dangerous. Char followed up immediately with a quick Incarcerous, a one and two attack.

Char cast featherlight on herself immediately following her two-pronged attack, intending to use the moments that Aslan would be occupied with fending off her spells.

She didn't feel right. Nothing felt right and it was obvious in the weariness of Aslan's gaze as she stood before their younger girl in the arena. Before she had been excited and ready to duel, to challenge herself and (hopefully) change the way she used magic, but now? She just felt like... wrong. Wrong and she couldn't explain it. There was something pulsing in her veins that felt angry and red.

Frustration.

Cracking her jaw, Aslan gave Charlotte a small nod before taking the traditional steps. She was expecting the blonde to attack first and though that in itself could be an advantage- blocking was not something she'd mastered, so when the flames came her way Aslan could only let them hit her. They singed her blouse and bits of her hair, and the smoke rose up, but Aslan managed to keep her eyes on Char. She ducked down, the second spell missing her just barely.

She had no strategy this time. Rolling, Aslan didn't stand, instead she pointed her wand at Charlotte's feet and fired off a non-verbal levicorpus. and hoped that would hit or distract the other witch long enough that she wouldn't notice the dazzling hex Aslan quickly, but efficiently performed upon herself whilst still on the ground. This was fast. It would have to be fast if she was going to actually stand a chance against Charlotte. Moving quickly, the Gryffindor rolled from the spot she'd been in to a space behind the blonde, hopefully the spell would stick.

She thought quick- her strategy with Rooney had been to take away his voice- she could use the same here, but instead of casting silencio, Aslan shot cantis.

If that didn't work, she had some other ideas.

Char was very suddenly in the air, by the ankle, which was mostly surprising because she hadn't known Aslan could do non verbal spells so she'd been a bit slower than normal and not got any sort of shield up in time. She DID notice Aslan seemingly disappear though, even as the levicorpus grabbed her, and Char cast one of her newest spells, a tough one that her cousin Dmitriy Toussaint had taught her over Christmas, the Stealth Sensoring Spell, and then she right away shielded, still upside down, expecting another attack. She blinked as two things happen, one, a spell hit her shield and bounced back, and two, she realised that thanks the the levicorpus, despite being upside down, Charlotte was facing Aslan again, who was now behind her. Or behind where she had been before. However you looked at it, at the least, she could see her now, thankfully!



"Liberacorpus!" Char cast and found herself the right way up again, and on her feet, and she quickly backed up to put more space between herself and Aslan. Okay. Ok. She could do this. She could!

A duel between two Gryffindors was always risky but he was hoping that wit this duel, both duellers would gain the challenge they needed. Miss Kettleburn was beyond her years with this sport and Miss Evans needed a challenge from someone who was as quick on her feet as the girl was with her thoughts.

So, in short, Hirsch was proud of this duel pairing.

It was just a pity it had to come to a stop before long. He even glanced down at his watch just to make extra sure that the time really was up. It was a shame, really, because this duel was proving to be a good one so far. There were even some advanced, non-verbal spells used!

Sigh.

The shield was up and it was only when Miss Kettleburn's rebounding charm disappeared into the shield that he moved forward. "That was a short but great duel. Well done to both of you. I have to say, I'm very proud of the advanced spells used here." Very proud, indeed. "But, while you've put up a good fight, Miss Evans, Miss Kettleburn has taken the lead today. Congratulations!"
