Front Desk When you first enter the library, you notice a large desk to your left. Scattered across the desk are stacks of books in various stages of aging, as well as a few rolls of old parchment. While the stacks may look haphazard to an onlooker, the librarian knows exactly where everything is located. Posted on the front of the desk are a few signs. One reads "Be Warned, the Librarian is Always Watching." Another says "Tidy Foods (such as carrots) and Water are Now Allowed in the Study Area. -- Be Careful, Books In Other Sections Are Known To Be A Bit Bitey." Sitting cross-legged on a backless cushioned chair behind the desk is the librarian. She greets you as you walk in. If you have any questions or are looking for any recommendations, feel free to stop by the desk for a chat. Have you found a book you would like to borrow? This is also the place to stop on your way out. Acting suspicious? You may receive a narrowed eye glance. |
Jasper wasn't sure exactly what had brought him to the library. It was probably boredom. That and he didn't know where his friends were currently... Studying would have been something he should've tried to do. That was definite. But right now he just wasn't in the mood for that either. No... He just needed a nice book to sit down with somewhere. But then again, which book could he select. His eyes fell onto the librarian sitting at the desk. He considered approaching her for a moment... she'd definitely have ideas wouldn't she? But then again he might just be disturbing her while she worked. About 10 seconds later his feet had made up his mind for him, taking him up to the front desk. "Uh... excuse me ma'am?" the third year tried to give a friendly smile, one of his hands awkwardly reaching up to scratch the back of his neck. It was an awkward habit he seemed incapable of shaking. "Uh... I was just wondering if there were any fictional books here you'd recommend... preferably not muggle ones ma'am. If you're not busy of course?" He gave a soft, friendly smile at that, hoping that he seemed respectful. Just in case he straightened himself up a little bit, though he couldn't help averting his eyes. There was something very interesting about the wooden desk his brain had decided. |

"Absolutely. We've got a whole section." she said nodding. "Do you have a more specific genre in mind?" she asked. "Historical fiction? Romance? Mystery?" she asked popping out some ideas. |

Now what kind of a genre did he have in mind? He cringed slightly, probably visibly at the mention of romance stories. No thank you. Definitely not romance, his sister read enough of that rubbish for both of the siblings. "Mystery or thriller..." he commented after a moment, thinking about the types of muggle books that he usually read. "Please," he added on after a moment, shyly looking back down at his shoes. Manners shouldn't be forgotten. |

"You can start looking here. There's plenty of options." she said running a finger along the spines of one of the books. "The Centaur Code. Seeing Thestrals. What's That Noise?" she said listing off some of the more popular options. She then motioned to a nearby bookshelf. "If you prefer muggle books, try some of those." She then took a step out of the way. "If you come across an author that you like, I can always order more books." Which was something she strongly encouraged. She was hoping to have something for everyone in the library. It was, of course, possible that she'd missed some things. In which case, she wanted to immediately rectify that situation. |
