IC Date, Place, Time: Friday October 28th, 2pm, Divination tower classroom
Entering up through the trapdoor you are met with the usual tea lounge classroom layout. The 50 or so circular tables along with cretonne covered arm chairs and fluffy blurbs in strong colours are scattered around the classroom. The lighting is provided by the many lamps on the tables that give off a weak crimson red lighting. Having taken into consideration her students well being Professor Vance has toned down the scents and warmth slightly for this class.
The cupboards along the tower walls are closed shut, but on top of them several big glass tanks rest full of hundred or so slug individuals in different colours, sizes and forms with and without shells that are all moving around in their current habitat.
On the blackboard behind Professor Vance's desk a big poster of a slug has been pinned to the board.
As the students come up through the trapdoor Laurel points to the glass tanks on top of the cupboards with a sunny smile pursing her lips. "Come on in and take your time to peek into the many glass tanks. Once you have explored them all to your hearts content then please take a glass jar from the cup boards below the tanks and select one slug for yourself that will be your companion for the remainder of the lesson and find yourself a seat. None of the slugs are off the flesh eating or fire variety so there should be no danger. They can be slimey though so be creative with how you lift the slugs without injuring them. If you have any problems then let me me know." With that said she moved across the classroom to stand by her desk.
OOC: Hello everyone! Welcome to Divination Lesson 2! Come on in and peek around the glass tanks and then select ONE slug and place it into a glass jar which your character brings with them back to their chosen seat. The slug of choice will be your characters companion for the remainder of the lesson. I will move on/start in approx 24 hours from this post.
"Sorry," Kitty replied meekly with a guilty smile as she was admonished for screaming. She would have to try to control her voice volume to avoid startling professors in the future. Still, she felt elated at the professor's confirmation that these slugs were the exact same slugs that she had helped collect before.
She listened as the other students explained what they thought of slugs. When no one else was speaking she raised her hand. "In the Muggle world , slugs, and snails, are used to say to symbolize slowness. Like, 'you're moving slower than a snail.' I haven't heard the expression used so much for slugs but slugs are snails are often confused with each other by people who can't tell the difference." That wasn't a diss on anyone.
"But personally," Kitty continued. "I think a better symbol would be what Olivia said, moving at your own pace, just being yourself and not caring if someone thinks you should be going faster."

She couldn't help but agree with Paige. Anything that involves these slimy ugly things wasn't going to end well for the sixth year. "Thanks so much for the help though." She was appreciative. Hearing the professor she looked a bit sheepish. "Paige was very nice to help me out with that part so I didn't have to pull out my wand." See what a great leader Paige was and she didn't have to touch them at all. If she could help it she would be not touching them the entire class.
Listening to the professor as she started, Nat looked at the slug. What was the snails shell saying, because obviously she just mistaken and said slug. No biggie just a quick change in words. "Maybe depending on how many circle lines are in the shell tells its age and life span?" How that worked in divination she wasn't sure so she wasn't going to try to answer that.
Jonas had no idea and he wasn't one to be in the mood for talking. Even the professor called these snails slugs. Like seriously? None the less, Jonas resided his hand to speak.
"Maybe the diffferent shell designs tell us about a certain future? Like the lines on our palms?"
Jonas was the first to speak up. Listening Laurel responded after he had finished. "Very interesting suggestion Jonas, we can definitely look at the spirals design in the same way as we read the lines in our palms. The shells design is supposed to tell us about evolution and changing life cycles so you are on the right track."

"Professor, they are the universal symbol for SLOW." Like really say your as slow as snails in any language and they'll know exactly what you mean.
Tenacious was next and his suggestion amused her but Laurel didn't show it instead she responded. "It's easy to think that since they move so slow, but they move slow and steadily for a reason it is to teach us that there are no shortcuts in life so it's better to be slow and thorough than fast and sloppy."

Laurel had seen Juno trickle in with the others and thus to her as she gave her answer. Smiling at the prefect she said "You are right Juno the spiral on the slug can represent a person's journey through life from when we are born to when we die and are reborn."

Oliver spoke of next and his question left Laurel a little confused but she tried to give a good response anyway. "Perfection? I'm not sure what you are trying to get at here Oliver but slugs and snails are communicators and wants us to be in touch with all our senses to be and feel whole, maybe that could be perfection. Laurel noted that Blaise was just happy with listening and bonding with his companion rather than contributing with an answer of his own. She hoped he'd contribute with his perspective/an answer later on.

Olivia spoke up next. Expanding on what Tenacious had offered up earlier. Laurel responded to the lioness with a smile. "Yes, you might be on to something there Olivia. There were just a few more hands in the air. Paige spoke up next Laurel nodded at the badger and responded. "Yes, I brought up that point earlier. Snails and/or slugs have the ability to bridge the gap between the mundane and spiritual and physical and mental. It is what makes the strong tools for divination and other spiritual practices. To move at your own pace, and just be yourself no matter what anyone else thinks or does I like so much mbetter as a symbol."

The last hand before she moved on belonged to Natalia. She listened to the snakette's question and then answered with a smile. "It is certainly possible since they like trees can live a long time and a trees age and life span you determine by counting age rings so i assume you can count circle lines in order to tell the age of a snail."
Flipping over her notes with one hand as she gathered her thoughts, Laurel stopped her snail from falling over the edge of her desk by plucking it into a glass jar.
Smiling broadly Laurel said "Thank you Kitty for making me aware of something which made me realize that I've done it too in this lesson and have probably confused many of you in the process.
Snails and slugs are easy to confuse and that is what i did when i showed you all a poster of a snail and then gave you all slug companions meaning slugs without shells. So this lesson isn't just on one or the other but on both snails and slugs since they are so intertwined in divination as a whole and in this lesson forward."
Laurel paused to let students process for a few moments before she recapped and moved on. "Snails and slugs are the universal symbols for steadfastness and stability and that we should learn as some of you suggested to not rush head first into things but to take the time to think before you act. Fast doesn't isn't always equal thorough and correct, you know? It is something you should all consider when you study no matter the subject that taking short cuts doesn't always pay off in knowledge."
"The spiral on the snails shell symbolize evolution and our physical and eternal journeys through all the stages of life. It can also be as someone mentioned a way to calculate the age of a particular snail but I can't say with 100% exactness if that is something proven and tested by muggle scientists. Snails and slugs possess incredible strength and are believed to be healers of the body, mind and spirit. The Native Americans for example let slugs crawl around in their mouths when they had toothache since the slugs mucous works as an anaesthetic and thus heals."
"Would you all be willing to let a slug/snail or any creature for that matter crawl around in your mouths or on your bodies if they could heal pain, sickness or an ailment you are suffering from or teach you something about your immediate future?" It was important to ask Laurel reasoned given what they were soon doing.
OOC: Last question before the hands on activity. I will be moving on in approx 24 hours or later depending on snow and that i'm closing at work tomorrow.

Hooray! She had gotten a question right.
And in Divination no less. That was more Paige's subject and of course the older Hufflepiff girl had so much more wisdom to say.. Azura really was in awe of her and she made a mental note to ask Paige for some help with this subject.. Maybe some tutoring? Az could easily provide baked goods! Hugs? Trip to Paris? Sugar quills?
The raven haired Ravenclaw was brought back to focus as the Professor spoke about letting slugs crawl around in their moiuths..
Fwoopers that did not sound pleasant.. But if it helped with pain.. she tilted her head a little at the Professor's question and she bit her lip a little in thought.. Finally her hand went up..
"I think I would be willing to let any creature, other than a snake crawl around on me. Even if a snake could save my life by being on me, I'm not sure I would let it! I'm afraid of them. " Sure her friends knew that. But not many other people did.. and Azura didn't like to give away a weakness, but there it was..
Let's hope no one used it against her.

Well that could be something a Gryffindor could learn from innit, slow and thorough versus fast and sloppy? The latter very often a Gryffindor occupational hazard. Now of course if he can just get used to consistently pulling fast and thorough then its a win win right? He thinks so anyway.
But ohhhh did pretty Prof just ask them if they would let the slugs crawl all over them? In their mouth even?? He winced for a second before giving way to infectious laughter. "Are we gonna let them crawl all over us Professor Vance? I'd be ok with Jabba crawling all over me!" That sounded weird but hey its accurate. "Im not sure about letting it crawl into my mouth though, because what if I end up biting or swallowing it? I've had escargot before. Escargot is actually pretty yummy...." So there you have it, he was actually more sickened with the thought that he could accidentally eat his new pet than the thought of creepy crawlies making like a dentist checking for oral hygiene.

Slugs and snails.
Snails and slugs.
They did bear a resemblance to each other so it made sense they were related at least in some way. Cass made a note of their connections and the fact that they were interchangeable in the topic of today’s lesson. And in their divination uses as a whole, or so Professor Vance had stated. She was just beginning to wonder just how they were and would be used.
She listened carefully as the professor continued, the Ravenclaw jotting down the occasional note from what was mentioned. And while Cassie wasn’t too weirded out by the creatures, she made a face at the practices of the Native Americans. EWWWW! She drew the line at letting them touch her lips, let alone in her mouth having free rein around her tongue and teeth and oh so close to her throat to accidentally swallow.

SNAILS OR SLUGS IN HER MOUTH?????
OH HELL NO!!
Nat sat there inwardly freaking out. She glared at her snail that was in the jar, it was going to stay there. YEP! No snail in her mouth. That was so gross. Why would anyone do that. She was so glad Cal wasn't in the class, because she wouldn't be able to kiss him again if he put one of these gross things in his mouth. Okay she would still kiss him, but he'd have to use mouth wash first.
Watching and listening to the other students Nat just sat there trying to figure out reasons to leave. Could she just get up and walk out? Maybe fake sick, yes sick could work. If she needed she probably could puke on a student. That was something she could make herself do, right? Hmm this was a thought, but she couldn't get over that the professor was really asking about putting one in their mouth.
"There is no way I'm putting one of those in my mouth or even on me. It is happy in the jar right now." She didn't know if it really was happy, but didn't really care either.

Flash seemed to be doing pretty well so far. He was exploring his little glass jar. There wasn't much to explore but he was pretty slow so it took him a while to get from one place to another. Flash didn't care that Olly really had no idea what was going on in this class. To be honest Olly didn't really care either, he was used to have no idea what was going on.
"I wouldn't mind letting any creature crawl on me, but I don't think I would let it in my mouth. The benefit would have to be really good." It would have to be nothing short of a life or death situation.
She was glad her answer on snails and slugs was helpful to Professor Vance. It could be confusing, and Kitty wouldn't have known the differences between slugs and snails herself if she hadn't spent so much time in her mom's garden back home looking for worms. Worms she loved, but slugs for some reason just grossed her out - and her garden had plenty of both.
"EGH!!" That was Kitty's involuntary, instinctive reaction when she heard the story of Native Americans putting slugs in their mouths to cure toothaches. "Sorry," she said guiltily, aware that she had already been admonished for one outburst in this class. But "Egh!" wasn't her final answer, no - no, she had to put a little more thought into it than that. After hearing a few of the other students answers she raised her hand. "If I was dying or seriously wounded, then I wouldn't mind a slug crawling on me or even inside in my mouth. If they could make me immortal then I would also be okay with iut. But I'd never let one of these things into my mouth just to cure a toothache. There are other ways to do that, and as long as it doesn't hurt TOO much then it wouldn't be worth it. I mean, if I had a small cut the last thing I would do is put a slug on it. Eck!" She shuddered just thinking about it.
"What about you Professor?" she asked curiously. "Have you ever cured yourself with slugs?"

Allowing a slug inside her mouth? Um... Well, that couldn't be as bad as it was being presented as. But also.... there were worse things? Didn't people suck on toads for some reason or another? Olivia couldn't have rightfully said, as she hadn't really paid much attention when that documentary had been on the tube. Her summer babysitters usually insisted on watching that boring stuff.
Eh.
"Aren't leeches used to heal things?" It wasn't really as question, as Olivia knew that, yes, they were indeed used for medicinal things. "I've had those placed on my skin before." And no, she wasn't going to say why. That was between herself, my mum, and her healer. "It really wasn't that bad."

Fun. slimy fun.
Peeves turned visible and started laughing as he went over to the tanks.
"LOOKS LIKE SOME STUDENTSIES COULD USE FUN"
He grabbed a couple snails and slugs and started flying around and dropping them on students

OOC: Last question before the hands on activity. I will be moving on in approx 24 hours or later depending on snow and that i'm closing at work tomorrow.
Paige felt a bit sheepish after the professor's reply, fearing that the woman may think she had not been listening properly since she had shared something a bit similar to the contents of the lecture..but the Hufflepuff have merely been seeking to expand on that information. Offer up a reason as to why this bridge existed - at least according to some theories. Cheeks flushed, Paige bowed her head and instead turned her attention back to the slug still crawling across her palm.
.........which, well, did answer Professor Vance's question now, didn't it?
"There is a lengthy history of them being used for such purposes," Paige said upon raising her hand. This was right in her wheel house given her history of healing courses. "Some tribes in America would use banana slugs for wounds in mouths to heal a toothaches...and their secretions do posses mysteries properties that even healers today continue to study...like the slime's influence on wart reduction and why slug parts and their mucus are used in the potions we brew."
And clearly...at least externally, Paige was perfectly alright with them crawling all over her. As her little companion was doing on the back of her hand now.

Paige Samantha Skeeter had had quite enough of all this and she was as patient a Hufflepuff as the came. The knives at the start of the term being thrown by Miffy had been horrible and beyond forgivable as far as she was concerned - and why she was paying no attention to this whole wedding business - but this? Not the placing of slugs and snails on people so much...but salt on the poor helpless things? It was sadistic and inhumane - death by dehydration...while fizzling up in your own mucus...honestly...
Reacting first, however, to the creature that had been thrust upon Nat, Paige was out of her seat faster than you could say shrivelfig. "It's okay! It's okay...I've got him," she assured frantically while grabbing it from her shoulder. Yes, partly because she knew the Slytherin would freak...but it was said freaking out that had her concerned for the creature's well being.
"Protect the gastropods!" Paige declared, pointing her wand towards the tank and administering a strong shield charm on it so Peeves couldn't torture more of the poor things.

She was just sitting there minding her own business and glaring at the snail when she heard that voice. THAT HORRIBLE VOICE! Why were these stupid things still bugging them. Did the adults in this school not know how to handle two poltergeist. Before her eyes could even lift she felt it on her shoulder.
"OH MY GOD!!!!!! AHHHHH!"
Shrieking was happening because it was on her. THE SLIMY THING WAS ON HER. Thankfully Paige was there and got it off. She was breathing heavy and out of her seat. Her wand was pulled. "GET OUT PEEVES" She didn't care if it was a class or not. She was over these two annoying the hell out of her. "I hate these slimy things to, but salt isn't going near them." She didn't like them but she didn't want them dead either.
"Remember that fun charm Professor Primeaux taught us? Get away from the slugs and snails or it will be used again." Yes she was threatening the annoyance, but fight annoyances with annoyances right? That's what they were taught at least.
H
Her eyes went to her robes, was that slime on it. DID THAT THING SLIME HER???? OMG OMG OMG OMG, SHE HAD SLIME ON HER ROBES! It was going to get in her hair being on her shoulder and she just couldn't deal with that.

Did the professor really just ask if they'd put one of these disgusting slimy things into their mouth or allow them to travel through their bodies?... Ummm... No Thanks!
Randa recoiled at the prospect of such a thought... Regardless of whether the snail or slug was full of healing properties... Just the thought alone was making her queesy... It was the most revolting thing she could think of really.. To have a nasty dirt dweller in her mouth...Miranda's answer was quite simple... " I don't care what it does.. I wouldn't put that thing anywhere near my mouth..."
And she wouldn't either... Maybe in a life or death situation.. But even then she'd probably find the task hard to do...
Just then Peeves flew in and started causing a scene. Before she knew it slugs and snails were sailing through the air and onto people... One even bounced off her cheek, " Eeeek!, Peeves!! Omygod.. that's nasty!", she squealed as she wiped her cheek with the back of her hand..glaring up at the naughty poltergiest.
Fun. slimy fun.
Peeves turned visible and started laughing as he went over to the tanks. "LOOKS LIKE SOME STUDENTSIES COULD USE FUN"

Laurel was about to respond and move on with the activity since it seemed like the majority of her attending students were totally against having a slug crawl on their bodies. For those who weren't comfortable with the idea of a slug inside her mouth she'd reassure that that wouldn't be need at all. Laurel knew she couldn't ask that of her class.
She had just opened her mouth to speak when the last entity that she wanted to see in her classroom surfaced in front of the slug and snail tanks and started to lift up and toss the poor gastropod souls around at the students. Eyes narrowing Laurel pointed at the poltergeist and shouted her temper rising. "PEEVES, Stop this INSTANT! I need the students and those slugs and snails unharmed! If you get out of here right now I promise I won't tell the Baron about this little escapade..."
To the student's she turned next and ordered "Protect each other and your little gastropod friends. You can use magic if you need to!" This wasn't certainly not what Laurel had seen in her crystal ball when she had scryed this lessons fate.
OOC: Have fun reacting to Peeves! You can still jump in and catch up if you want to participate in the lesson and isn't playing already.
Oh great Peeves was in here. Wonderful. Just wonderful. And he was dropping slugs! Weeh! Jonas hid his slug under the table before Peeves could see it.
"GAA!!!" Kitty shrieked in disgust as Peeves flew into the classroom and dropped not one but TWO slugs right on her lap. "Get off me!!!" Even as she screamed she was already brushing them off her. They fell to the floor completely unharmed. "Wingardium Leviosa!" The slugs were lifted from the floor and placed back into their jars.
Shaking, the Ravenlcaw prefect stood and advanced towards Peeves. "You are so going to regret that Peeves!" she shouted angrily up at him, drawing her wand.

Charlotte was kind of in her element? Ok so she couldn't divine things and didn't have any knack for the mystic arts but snails and slugs and all of that? SHE LOVED THEM they were so misunderstood! Snails were better of course but she wasn't going to hate on slugs just because they weren't lucky enough to have pretty shells!
She stuck her hand up.
"I probably wouldn't mind too much, professor, but wouldn't it just be easier to harvest some slime and apply that topically?" And that would take care of the gross factor that a lot of people apparently had trouble with.
And then Peeves showed up and Char's eyes went wide. SALT? He would be so cruel as to use SALT on the poor creatures? Char's own wand was out in a second and she cast a few cushioning charms around, hoping that if any of the slugs or snails that were dropped or thrown would at least not be damaged in a terrible way. The poor things!

Azura bit her lip a bit as she preheated for the next part of the lesson when suddenly Peeves was there and throwing slugs at people! Ughhhhhh!
She aimed her wand at the snail cages and cast a shield charm over ithem, trying to make sure that the little critters were safe from the annoying Poltergeist! What was with this year? She sighed as she aimed her wand up at Peeves and said
"Skurge!! " She was trying to learn here Peeves! And slugs were pretty interesting so could they get back to the lesson?

Nat was still standing FREAKING out over her robes and the slime that was going in her hair. UGH UGH UGH... this was just ridiculous. She was thinking about just storming out and being done today. If she stayed she'd have to eventually touch the creepy things. So her answer was leaving, yep, she really didn't want to see the slimy monsters die, but at this point peeves was the biggest problem and she wanted far away.
But before she could even take a step she heard two students using the charm that the professor had taught them. Oh she wasn't leaving now. To see Peeves jump around being zapped and annoyed right back. This was going to be good. Her wand was out as well and she was ready to have some real fun.
"Skurge" He might have gotten away near the stairs, but she had been injured at the time. Now she was focused and her head didn't hurt. She was ready for the Peeves getting paid back entertainment.
After wiping the slime from her face she took to the underside of her table... The rest of the class was on their own as far as she was concerned> She watched as somer of the other students started pulling their wands and casting... Oh good.. they had a handle on it... She decided it was better she watch and observe... This way she could remember the spell later...
It really was quite a scene ... Slugs and snails flying and falling onto people and into hair and Peeves loving every second of it... she couldn't help but giggle seeing this all transpire... She really did love school.. There was rarely ever a dull moment and the weirdest classes always had a way of growing on her as they went on...
Oh look at them all scream as slugs and snails touched them. It was great. Some needed to learn better insults. But then Vance has to bring up the Baron. Ruining all his fun. Those hexes were annoying but well she was being the wet blanket. "No Salt Then" Peeves had one last good laugh at all the studentsies before getting annoying at these spells hitting him. It was time to make his exit.
He threw the last of the slimies he had in his arms into the air and flew out of them room cackling.

Harvey made a face at the Professor's question. Snails in his mouth? That was soon gross!
"No way, not in my mouth!" he said quickly. Otherwise it would be find. But not in his mouth. Nuh-uh.
And then Peeves appeared. And wreaked havoc, as Peeves usually did.. Harvey watched him make snails fly all over the place, and heard the Professor tell them to keep their snails safe. He didn't exactly know enough magic to do that, though.
So he did the only thing he could think of.
He put his snail in his mouth, and waited for the chaos to end.

Olivia was just minding her own business.... chilling and staring at her own red snail dragging itself around the bottom of her jar.... WHEN SUDDENLY, PEEVES APPEARED.
O.O
.... and he was slinging slugs at people, which Liv didn't mind as it wasn't at her. At first. Merlin, the sudden shrieking and shouting in the Divination classroom. Spells were being slung around and an older Hufflepuff girl was shouting about protecting the snails. There was suddenly too much going on for her mind to compute. Too many loud noises and such. So, carefully picking the sudden slug in her hair out, the blonde Gryffindor regarded it in the palm of her hand for several moments. It was electric blue.
"This has been a series of unfortunate events, I say." Olivia was talking to the slug, yes.

Smiling reassuringly Laurel said to Azura. "That's good to hear, and I can promise that you will not be required to have a snake crawl around on you for a reading since they can be poisonous." And the last thing she wanted was to have to get the healer to come and cure her class from snakes bites.

So there you have it, he was actually more sickened with the thought that he could accidentally eat his new pet than the thought of creepy crawlies making like a dentist checking for oral hygiene.
It was hard to not let Tenacious infectious laughter effect her too. She didn't giggle she just smiled a little broader as she nodded. "Yes, you are going to let your little companions crawl over your arms, not your whole body." Shaking her head Laurel said "You won't need to let the slug anywhere near your mouth, so you don't need to worry about biting/swallowing or even getting eascargot from the experience."

Turning her attention to Cassandra next she could totally understand the young girl's uncertainty and hesitation. "I can reassure you that you won't need to put the slug into your mouth. The only part you'll need to have the slug crawl on for the reading would be your hand and arm. You touch creatrues in CoMC class so this won't be much different." Hopefully that answer would ease the girls feelings.

Hmm this was a thought, but she couldn't get over that the professor was really asking about putting one in their mouth. "There is no way I'm putting one of those in my mouth or even on me. It is happy in the jar right now." She didn't know if it really was happy, but didn't really care either.
Natalia was having a little freak out. She could understand where she came from since she hadn't been very pro snails, bugs and critters at that age either. She had gotten past it though. Turning her gaze to meet Nat's she said "You'll need to rethink that if you want to get full credit in class sweetie. If its any help the only place you will need to put your slug on is your hand or arm." She'd have to ask Jordan if the students got this way in his class too at the prospect of having a creature in proximity of their bodies.

Oliver spoke next and was actually taking it all in stride and not having a minor meltdown at all. Relieved Laurel said with a nod. "Good, and I'm off similiar mind.
Kitty and her outbursts. She sadly couldn't help them it seemed. This time Laurel was mentally prepared though and accepted the apology. "That's a sensible approach to what we are discussing. A slug won't be able to give you immortality or heal bad wounds, but maybe a tooth ache at best." Shaking her head she said smiling "No, and I doubt i ever will since we have many other potions and medicines at our disposal that'd cure cuts and sicknesses a lot better than a slug could."

Eyes turning to Olivia she nodded "That is correct! Leeches can be used for medicinal purposes since they can suck out blood and pus and can make a person's blood pump better if the circulation is off." Smiling she said "Then having a slug crawl on your skin will be a piece of cake." A leech stuck to the skin, a slug didn't.

There are probably many creature parts or creatures even that we can name here that can be used in the medical field with great effect but we shall focus on the divinatory aspect right now.." You need the slug to steer/guide the slime trail over your bare skin or you will only get a straight line and that won't lead to an adequate reading since then you'd only get good omens and that is awesome but not fully accurate."

After him she shouted "I lied. I'm still telling the Baron about this Peeves." And then some of those slugs landed on her fair hair and one even made slime droop down her face. Eek. After Gently pulling away the slugs from her hair and face Laurel surveyed the damage.

Harvey's immediate reaction caused Laurel to quickly reassure the boy. "That won't be needed sweetie i just asked that to see if you could consider doing it or not to get a grasp all your views and feelings." It was how she got past just knowing their names asking questions to get reactions.
"Is everyone all right? Are all your slug buddies in one piece?" Laurel asked worriedly as she looked on her own slug crawling around on her desk.
With Peeves finally gone they could move on and do what she had been looking forward to since the start of her lesson. Eyes on her students she said with excitement totally forgetting that she still had slug mucus in her hair and in her face. "Slugs sit on ethereal knowledge about both the past, the present and the future and now we are going to put that to practice by doing our own slug readings. I can reassure everyone here and mostly those who are hesitant that we are not going to put the slugs anywhere near or into our mouths today."
Lifting up her own slug from the table Laurel demonstrated. "What you are all going to do is put your slugs onto the bare skin of either your hand or your arm and study the slime line trail that it leaves behind across your skin as it moves." Pulling up her robe to expose her bare arm she let her slug down gently and watched it move for a moment and the straight slime line it left behind smiling to herself. Good things indeed.
With her other hand , she used her wand to make a list appear on her blackboard.

Pointing to the list behind her she continued "With the help of those meanings and those that you find in your textbooks I ask you all to get to work and watch your slugs slime trail over your skins. OOC: Activity time! As Laurel said you're going to let your charries have their slug trail over their bare skin and interpret the slime trail it leaves behind. You need to do 4 quality rp posts to get full credit for the activity. Asking the slug a question is optional and just for fun if you want it's not required for full credit. You have until Tuesday November 8th to complete the activity since i aim to close the lesson then. Have fun with this and be creative!
