Professor SPOILER!!: Professor OHHHHH MYYY GOODNESS!!!! All four of them were amazing looking!! she wanted to go pet them all and give them treats. Moving along with the crowd Echo stopped and listened, pulling out the notes that she made she held up her hand "Professor, that one" she pointed to the white colored one.. "is a Grabian" she kept moving along... "Aurora.. which is a pretty name be tee dubs" oh she was oh so funny. "Abraxan" she was drawn into that one it was just so huge. "Preseus is an Aethonan" her eyes went over to the last one "The last pretty winged horse which shines so bright for being so dark in color is a Thestral" she knew that she could see it, an Aunt passed away and the whole family was pretty much in the room. "Would we be able to feed the Thestral? its the first one ive seen and id like to experience it more?" she knew it was a sad thing for her to be seeing this winged horse but it was also beautiful.. she wanted more interaction. |
Cassie was trying to keep up with everything that everyone was saying but she was more than a little grateful when the professor had the given suggestions that had been correct appear on the chalkboard. Much easier for her to copy down into her notes under the subject heading of winged horses, adding the man’s own words onto the end for further reference. Four different kinds…interesting. She, for one, would have to take the word on other people as to where thestrals might be as she hadn’t seen death personally. With the last stroke of her quill, she hurried up to her feet to follow as directed. Her parchment and quill still in hand. It was then when she got there that she spotted the three winged horses that they found there. Maxine…Aurora…Perseus…and Sinatra. Yep, she definitely didn’t see Sinatra. As for identifying the type with the name, Cassie listened as her classmates attempted to them, following along with glances between each horse and what was written in her notes. Everything seemed to be right. |

Hold the phone. Did Mason just get in trouble for READING a BOOK? Scandalous! Finn looked over at Mason and mouthed sorry, dude! to him. Rotten luck, in trouble for furthering your learning. Quote:
And good thing I didn't guess Pegasus, he mused. I would have looked like a stupid first year. Which of course he didn't want to be. The stupid part, at least. Ohhh, field trip? He followed the crowd and then watched the professor's wand wave. Finn let out an audible GASP. "[B]Woah![/I] Those were so COOL! He didn't even hear the part about the professor asking them a question. He just kept staring. And yep, his mouth might have been hanging open a bit. Quote:

The winged horses were amazing, and Katy wanted desperately to pet one. Or ride one. Or FLY on one. She wiggled around in her seat. There was no point offering an answer now, not when so many of her classmates had already made the exact same guess Katy would have made. She'd rather think about the thestral. She'd never seen one... still hadn't, even though she was excited to learn there was one standing right here in front of them. Eagerly, Katy lifted her hand and waved it carefully in front of her, almost as if she believed the thestral was within petting distance. It wasn't. They'd get to pet the thestral too, right? |
Taking a bit longer than the rest to write everything down as her journalistic instincts were pushing her to add more information than what the professor had on the board, Paige ended up in the back of the class as they made their way over. By the time she could actually SEE the winged horses in question, answer after answer had been given as to which belong to which breed and thus the seventh year simply jotted down a few notes regarding their physical appearance. Her blues eyes affectionately studided the aethonan, granian, abraxan each and her fingers tingled to be able to reach out and stroke their feathers and compare their texture to that of owls. Despite her fear of heights, which made flying completely out of the question, she had a somewhat misplaced admiration for winged creatures and often felt jealous of how effortlessly they made flight seem. Effortless and freeing. Squeezing her way a bit more towards the front, hoping that she could peer close enough to at least be able to see the patterns on their feathers more closely, Paige's eyes were drawn to the final breed and her heart dropped down to her stomach. Yes, she had heard the professor say there were four - and she of course had assumed that one would be a thestral - but she had never before laid eyes upon one. And now she could. Of course she could...after what had transpired at St. Mungo's over the summer. And it was tragically beautiful. She heard very little else of what was going on around her, eyes transfixed by the skeletal creature before her. So much so that she ended up dropping her quill and parchment once and had to scramble to pick them back up before someone accidentally stepped on them. But for the most part her eyes remained, mostly unblinking, on the thestral. |
Juno raised her hand and patiently waited to be called on. She knew Esme would be super excited to see all these winged horse breeds, even if they were unicorns. When she was called on she answered, "Maxine, the small beautiful grey winged horse is the Granian. Then Aurora, the large white winged horse is the Abraxan. Then Perseus, the middle sized and chest-nut winged horse is the Aethonan. And, of course, as you said, the Thestral, Sinatra." She gave a small smile. She really loved horses. Her family owned a stable in Paris. They didn't have winged horses or unicorns or any other magical horse but they had the equally as majestic every day horses. She loved them all the same. |

Everyone else pretty much answered the question, it was pointless to repeat what they said so she approach where the professor stood next to the horses, having her eyes on Perseus. Awwwwww. |
Abraxans drink single-malt whiskey? Wow. That winged horses know a decent drink. Not that she know anything about single-malt whiskey mind you but she's pretty sure its a very expensive drink. Thestrals are carnivorous? Notes. She would make sure to stay way from that particular winged horses because she didn't want to be it next meal. No thank you. The Slytherin first year quickly copied down the note on the chalkboard to her notebook before she followed Professor Hernandez. And out of nowhere there were four winged horses in front of her. FOUR!!!! Now she's VERY excited! She made sure to give each of the winged horses a small waves when the Professor introduced their name. But she can't see the last one. Thestral? That's the carnivorous one right? Carnivorous and Invisible too? WICKED! They got to pet them right? Right? RIGHT? Which one is which? Umm...She was pretty sure Aurora is an Abraxan based on the little note the Professor gave them earlier. |
No water? That was strange, what animal wasn’t drinking water? With a frown she made a few quick notes to make sure that she wasn’t forgetting anything because, well… This all still sounded so strange to the first year. Just when she was done with taking notes the professor said that they needed to follow him but… Secretly she didn’t wanted to get too close to those winged horses, she didn’t liked them at all! Suppressing as shiver she followed but frowned when the professor introduced a horse she couldn’t see, what was going on? Was he playing a trick on her? Secretly she looked around her to see if she wasn’t the only one who didn’t saw the last horse and indeed, some other students too were looking searching at the empty air, just like Leesha. “Great, a invisible horse” she muttered to herself. At first she just didn’t had liked the horses, but now she absolutely hated them, they gave her the creeps! “One of them is invisible, that is different” muttered Leesha softly, looking suspicious around her, trying to spot the invisible horse or to at last hear a sound to know if it was still where it was supposed to be! |
Question-ish plus catch up :) Mhm... so what did winged horses have? Vivian didn't want to answer because... that was obvious. They had WINGS and they were HORSES, thanks to those two who suggested the answers. But she couldn't help but smirk a little. Haha. Clever. But you couldn't deny it because it was TRUE, so they definitely owned that question. Text Cut: Proffy! The... different between the horses? And one of them was a thestral?! Vivian actually perked at the mention of the horse. She'd never seen one, but that's probably because she'd never seen or experienced death. Or what. That's how you're able to see them, right? Shame, Vivian really wanted to know what they LOOKED like. She didn't want to believe mere drawings. She wanted to see them with her own eyes, but well... the expense was a little bit.... nah. Whatever. "I can't see the other one, Sir...." Vivian said. "Wh-what does Sinatra look like?" Because she was curious, really. Besides, it would benefit the rest of the class, yeah? How active in class and thoughtful of her. Vanya would be soooo proud. |
Henry listened to all the information but he did not feel the need to write it all down or take notes. Nah, he knew this stuff, or at least some of it. And the other stuff he'd probably remember. Maybe he would. He was much more interested in the practical application anyway, and... they'd be doing that today? The only thing that he was really surprised by was the mentioning by the professor that Abraxans couldn't drink water at all. He had never heard that and also wondered what they'd be drinking in the wild, like that one girl asked. But maybe the professor would explain. More information about Ministry classification and the like, but Henry kind of zoned out there, his eyes searching the area and his attention distracted. He was just really hoping they'd be able to ride them today, so surely Professor Hernandez was bringing them out for class. The professor barely had the words out of his mouth when Henry hopped up from his seat and followed him to the other side of the yard. Still no horses, but... oh! YES! Henry grinned as the professor lifted the disillusionment charm to reveal three of the winged horses. He glanced over at Owen who seemed just as excited. "Sweet.. think we'll get to ride them?" he leaned over to whisper to his dorm mate. His eyes landed on each one as they were named. Oh.. was there a thestral too? Henry would have to take the man's word for it as he couldn't see those types of winged horses, which always sort of made him wonder. Sure he had read the textbook description and had seen the illustrations, but how did he know they weren't completely made up? And yeah, he knew enough about winged horses to know who was which, but as literally a hundred people already answered that question, he didn't feel the need to say it aloud, though he did think the added descriptions Clara provided were pretty cute. Instead, he impatiently waited for class to move on as he watched the three he could see and bounced slightly on the heels of his feet. |
The sight of notes making there way onto the board Hady leaned over grabbing her page. Pulling out a quill and sheet of blank parchment along with a notebook she got to taking down everything on the board. It was mainly stuff she already knew, yes, however this was the year of NEWTs and everything would come in handy she was sure. When she was done she laid her quill down focusing her attention on the professor as he continued on. The introduction of three winged horses were happening. Names were listed a long with a fourth. Sinatra. A Thestral. Whatever the question was that was asked went somewhat unheard as her hazel eyes focused in on that one. Yes, the others were beautiful but there was something about Sinatra that drew her in. Could she work with that one? Please? Right now, she wasn't even considered with that fact that she was able to see him and most of her peers couldn't. What had happened a few summers ago didn't need to be spoken about. |
Bentley flashed a smug smirk at his cousin. Was there really anything else to say about winged horses though? Nothing else was relevant as far as the fourth year was concerned. Also based on the professor's description, it was fairly obvious which winged horse was which..for the three he could see anyways. He'd save himself the hassle of guessing by just taking notes. It wasn't like he could depend on Blaise's quill to take good notes. |

And for the second question... "There are some theories that saying about Thestrals resembled the remnants of the persons that died in front of another witch or wizard. Usually those who could see the thestrals had witness a death of a loved ones, or an unforgettable one and accepting it." Well, witnessing a death is obviously an unforgettable experience but it's not just a random death, you know? That's what his professor in University said. "But there is no exact proof that the theory was true. The experts are still studying about that." Right now it's still a mystery. "And for the relations of bad omen and seeing thestrals, I think because some people thought that witnessing a death is such an unlucky thing so they kind of avoiding it." Quote:
"I have shown the picture of thestrals on the board, a friend of mine did paint it." He spoke to the Slytherin girl., pointed to the board. "As you can see there, they have a bat-shaped wings, charcoal colored, skeletal body-like and reptile-like face." Jordan explained to her. Quote:

.................... "It looks like all of you guys have identified the winged horse correctly." He spoke to the class. Well, that was not that difficult. Every horses had different characteristic. "I have some treats for the horses here." He pointed out to the sacks full of apples, carrots, corns and grass, a barrel of single-malt whiskey with some buckets, and also a big bucket of meat for the thestrals. "I give you some time to get know them before we move on to the main activity, feel free to pet and feed them. You guys need to remember that they needed to be treated by respect." He explained to the students. So please, no insulting or doing bad behavior to the horses. Oh, and also.... "I forgot to tell you that those four are not the only horses around here." Jordan cast the spell to lift off the disillusionment charm and.... More winged horses appeared. Have fun with them, guys! OOC: This is the mini activity before the main one happens. I am not gonna limit your post count so feel free to interact with the winged horses as much as you want ^^ I will post the main activity in 20-26 hours (depends on when I will arrive from work). Any questions/concerns, just nudge us  |
More talking around her finally snapped her out of her small daze. Hady blinked a few times pulling her gaze off of the Thestral and back onto the professor. She had missed most of what was being said but it appeared that he was simply replying to whatever answers her peers had given. Nothing important had been missed hopefully. A charm was lifted and many more winged horses were revealed. Usually this was the case in such a large class size but it made her smile none-the-less. Slowly her attention returned to the beautiful creatures standing before them, though she was still listening this time. Different foods and single-malt whiskey and such. Got it. Yep. They were allowed to interact with them just so they were respectful. Tis' all was good. Hady put her things back into her bag and rose to her feet slowly. She made her way over to a bucket that contained bits of meat and took a small bit of it ignoring it's feeling. Her focus was on the Thestrals, not the meat in her hand. Walking over towards one of them she stopped a few feet away standing both still and quiet, arm stretched out with her palm up offering the bits of meat. She was going to show no harm and allow the large black beauty to come to her. As it inched closer she remained where she was unmoving until the meat was taken from her hand. A small smirk formed on her lips and her free hand moved forward to gently be placed on the winged horses side where she ran her fingers back and forth the smooth skin. "Amazing...you're simply amazing..." she murmured under her breath more to herself then him. |
*joins Hady* They get to feed them? Even the Thestral that he can’t see? The gear in his brain started to move and was just too excited to get his hands dirty that he forgot about taking more notes. After stuffing his things haphazardly into his bag, which by the way was highly unusual of the boy, Jace got up from his seat and went for the meats to feed the horse that he can’t see. Holding up the small bucket in his hand, Jace watched the Head Girl feed air...and could not help but feel jealous that she can, probably, see one. Quietly, the Ravenclaw stood beside the senior student and just opened and closed his mouth. “Uhm...hi?” he said to the badged Slytherin and gave her a shy smile. “Can I...can I try feeding Sinatra too?” he continued, his voice laced with all the awkwardness in the world. “I...I can’t see him though.” He said looking up front, holding up the bucket of meat in his hands. It didn’t take long for the bucket to move...and its contents slowly being devoured. Small eyes grew big as saucers in astonishment...and just pretty much watched the chewed up meat travel downwards...and then it too disappeared somewhere in the middle. “Can you see him? Is he happy?” Jace asked the older girl. He obviously wanted to pet the creature but he’s afraid he might poke it in the eye or something. |
Oh boy, there are more! Blink blink, the first year held her breath for just a few seconds before she forced herself to breath normal again. Oh no, she really didn’t liked this lesson like she had expected she would. Horses! Flying horses! Reading about them was one thing, but she didn’t had expected that there was really going to be one, let alone more horses! Sighing she closed her eyes for just a few minutes. Okay, she wasn’t a stupid kid who wasn’t able to keep a hold of herself! No way! She was going to show that she wasn’t afraid of those horses, those FLYING horses! So she walked forward and looked at one of the horses, the smallest horse she saw but that ANIMAL made a sudden move and she very quickly stepped back, just able to NOT shout out lout. “STUPID, STUPID horses!” She hissed nervously. |
Sorry Raven She has more questions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the professor's words did little to quell Aslan's curiosity, in fact they only made her all the more so. She curled a lock of her hair around and around her finger as the professor spoke first to her and then to the other students. Unlike Professor Sokolov this new professor had less presence, and seemed less at ease. Although it was hardly the first CoMC lesson she had attended this term, it was the first time she had paid any sort of real note to... no, she had forgotten his name. It hardly mattered anyway. "Professor." She said again, standing from her bean bag. "where's the Thestral? Are there others here now?" Aslan tilted her head up at the teacher. she moved forward but made no conscious effort to move toward the Abraxans, Granians or the Aethonan. She eyed each horse carefully, committing their differences and likenesses to memory. Aslan turned back, knelling down on her knees as she searched her bag for the battered leather sketchbook she kept just in case. The professor wanted them to get the know the creatures and get comfortable, for Aslan in this instance it meant drawing them and taking notes. Returning to her previous spot, Aslan tugged an ink pen from behind her ear and began to sketch out an outline of first the Abraxan. It was an incredible animal, meant for strength rather than speed and yet it carried no brutish characteristics. Aurora. she reminded herself. "Do the other horses have names?" She asked. She assumed they did, but Aslan hated to leave things to assumptions. Facts were reliable. She sketched, moving closer to the Abraxan and offering the animal her hand to sniff or prod, or lick, Whatever they did to become comfortable with a witch or wizard. "Professor you mentioned being respectable to them. Is there a certain way you're meant to approach them?" She was thinking of Hiipogriffs, they way you were meant to bow to them. Unless he just meant being kind or something, in which case she would fail to be interested in his answer. |
So they could pet and play with the horses? Azura's eyes moved along the row of winged beasts, trying to figure out which one to go up to.. But if she was honest, she just sort of wanted to pet and feed the Thestral.. Which meant, trying to see if any other people were petting what looked like thin air. She spotted Hady and Jace doing exactly that and she wanted to join them, but then again she didn't want to crowd the animal. So she went over to the bucket of meat and picked up a few scraps and the went to look at the horses.. There were some gaps in the visible ones.. And Azura hoped she wasn't going to look stupid by approaching the gaps.. and talking to thin air. But uhh.. here went nothing. Also.. Let's hope there was more than one Thestral.. otherwise she would REALLY look like an idiot.. |
... Pet and feed them? He failed to see what this really had to do with taking care of them but Philipe walked up to one of the Thestrals. The fifth year year smiled and gently rubbed the horse's side. They really weren't that scary to him... but then again, one of his uncle's owned a dragon farm, so nothing really seemed scary to him compared to the wild dragon's he'd watched his uncle try to care for. Philipe glanced around, somewhat surprised to see other students petting the thestrals... He'd assumed most kids wouldn't see death, but he turned back to the horse and smiled, going to get the horse a piece of meat. Again, he was use to this kind of thing, his father had raised him around the horses, so unlike most who would be cringing at the feel of the meat or anything else, it didn't bother him. He went back to the horse and offered it with one hand, the other going back to gently stroking his side. |
Catching up. The third year was simply happy and excited, not only was she in her on of her favorite lessons. She was sitting between two of her favorite people as well. Sandwiched in between Hattie and Cornelius what could be much better? She grinned at Corn. "Nothing much, cutiepie." She managed a small smirk, he was really rubbing off on her. The winged horses had really became one of her favorite animals. Spending tons of time in the barn with them and the other creatures, had really given her a new sense of meaning in life, those creatures depended on her. She had been doing tons of reading up and research on them since the wingedc horses had became her new obsession. Her hand shot up into the air. "There are four different breeds of winged horses, Abraxan, Granian. Aethonan, and Thestrals" She added things she already knew to her notes and somethings that other students had added. Hoping up from her beanbag chair. she headed to the professor. Watching as the professor reveals the new winged horses, Yay! There was three of them and maybe there was a fourth maybe just maybe. If there had been a Thestral she wouldn't have seen it anyway. Guessing game! Katerina loved guessing games."Maxine is a Granian, Aurora is a Abraxan, and Perseus is a Aethonan." She nodded. oh so there was a theastral there too. Now they were free to roam around and pet and feed the horses. The Hufflepuff grinned ear to ear at this. Where did Cornelius get to? She glanced around for him, but soon lost her focus that moved to the winged horses. She walked up to one of them and put her hand out to pet his snout. "Hey there, friend. Are you hungry? Softly stroking his snout. |
Rula mostly tried to ignore a lot of the added discussion about thestrals and their...requirements to be seen. It kind of put a damper on her interest in the lesson, and she wanted to focus without too many other emotions ruining it. She couldn't see those creatures anyway, and she had no desire to. And now finally they could do something, interact with the horses. That would be nice. She set her things to the side for the moment, grabbed a couple apples, and walked carefully up to one of the Aethonans. "Hi there," she said softly, holding one of the apples out to the creature. "Want a treat?" The horse nudged her hand with his nose before taking the apple into his mouth, chewing happily. Rula smiled slightly, taking a few steps closer to stroke the horse's neck. |

"best day ever" even if she had to hold meat she didnt care this moment was going to be so special, not everyone could see them and she wanted to show her respect and of course fill their bellies. Moving towards the buckets of meat she grabbed one and headed to the thestrals. "they there guys" she smiled as she saw their noses moving, they could smell their snacks. "who wants one first" before she could do anything one moved rather close to her, she threw a piece and backed away, of course she wasnt going to want to get in the way of that but man look how pretty they were, so magical. |
They got to go spend time with them already?! Woah, he hardly knew anything about regular horses and now they were just set free to be with magical horses? Talk about intimidation factor. At first, Finn just sort of lingered behind a bit. He didn't want to mess this up and hurt the horses |
Cutiepie. Well. That left this cutiepie grinning from ear to ear. Even when the professor spoke, the boy grinned widely at the man in charge. Hernandez probably thought the kid's screws were on loose, but no. Katerina did that to him. Turned him...well...into a smiling lunatic. By the time he snapped out of it students were moving about and...Katerina was gone. BOO. He got the gist of it, though. They were supposed to interact with the creatures. Cornelius eyed them. He didn't want to get kicked by them. Cautiously, he approached one of the winged horses after having stuffed his robe pockets with food. "Nice to meet yah, I'm Cornelius Orion Baltazar, Prince of Falmouth. Who you be?" Of course, the winged horse didn't respond, it simply took the carrot Cornelius offered it. The Slytherin eyed the winged horse, debating on petting it, and when his fingers were near close to it's face, Cornelius pulled his hand back. NOPE. Those chompers on the horse were HUGE and Cornelius was not willing to lose his fingers over a lesson. NOPE NOPE. |
