He had enough energy to get down to the lesson, though made no promises for how much longer it'd last. Leaning his head back against the bean bag, he glanced to whoever sat down next to him. A lopsided grin appeared on his face upon recognizing Paige.

Though hello's and how are you's were lost when the professor started the lesson. Awake he shall be! Sitting up in his seat, he leaned forward and peered at the photo. That horse was massive. And the wings were awesome. And that other Gryffindor was right, they were pretty to look at.

His hand shot into the air.

"They have different colors."

Oh look! Beanbags! She waved at her best friend Olivia, who appeared to be asleep and then waved to people she knew and didn't know before flopping down beside (Ace). "I always enjoy this class. Don't you?" She asked the curly haired boy.

So he finally made his way back to the beanbags, kicked up his cruiser into his hand and flopped into his seat. Right around the time that the Jenkins girl decided to join him "Eyyy Trixeh!.... its not a class to me, its chill time with the creatures." It just so happens that theres a side-lecture to all this.

SPOILER!!: Creatures Carer ^_^

OOC: I hope that no one will post his character late after this. Feel free to jump in and pretend that your students have been arrived early before. Just mention ONE thing about the winged horse that your charrie know ^^ and the class will be continue in approximately 20-24 hours after this post.

Well if the Prof think that Tenacius would love the lesson today-- he wasnt wrong! The second that image went up, the Gryffindor Ace bolted upright in his seat. If he wasnt awake already, he's SUPER AWAKE now "Abraxans!!" he yelled out gleefully. "Abraxans are huuuuuuuge winged horses-- Palominos actually...." he should know he has a pair growing and grazing in his backyard-ish "... theyre gigantic-- could grow to a size of an elephant, heck the baby one we have is about the size of our muggle car."

'Ooohh.. Winged horses... Miranda's friend Natalia had literally just been talking to her about them.. She looked over at her friend thought she saw a tenny smile creep across her face, but maybe not... the older girl was a hard one to get a real bead on... But anyway back to the posed question.... thinking on it for a bit and having only the most obvious of answers she decided to open her book and scan through what she could find.. while of course paying as best attention as she possibly could given that she was trying to read at the same time.....

Hadley had to bite her lip to keep from cheering. Winged horses were her absolute favorite. And now there was a whole lesson on them! Where was Alyce? Her friend from the stables. Was she as excited as she was for this lesson? Maybe even more? Hadley herself loved winged horses since before she knew they existed for real. Pegasus.

Of course Ace would mention Abraxans. Hads smiled at that. He was quite fond of his oversized flying horses. It was cute.

Hadley raised her hand. "They used to be called Pegasus in Ancient Greece. Why aren't they still called that?" She'd been curious after Drapes had adamantly corrected her seven year old self that they weren't pegasi, they were winged horses. "They also like apples." Sadly that was the extent of her knowledge, so Hadley lowered her hand and shut up for other more knowledgeable people to talk.

Before class started Azura smiled and waved at Jace and then grinned at Kitty as the Ravvie prefect came to sit next to her. She would have said something but class was starting and her attention snapped up to the Professor..

Ohhh winged horses!

Azura's hand went into the air as she answered his question. "There are many different types of winged horses, including Thestrals, they pull the carriages that bring us to school from the train station. They are also only visible to those that have seen death."

The last part was said softly. But it was still said.

<3 Hi!!! Sorry I'm late. Lalala.

Marsha couldn’t help but roll her eyes as she looked around at her fellow students. They didn’t understand that meaning of the term ‘early’... Early was getting up at 3am… or anything before her usual 4am anyway. Sitting down happily on Lance’s other side, she gave a small wave at Paige around him. Looking up, she caught Professor Hernandez’s eye and gave him a wave too. She’d already seen him this morning when she was helping in the barn after her workout - so it seemed stupid to say good morning again.

OH!!! OHHH!!!

Trying hard not to bounce in her seat, Marsha’s hand flew into the air at the question. She listened to the answers that came before her turn and patiently simply thought about the other details that she knew. When it was her turn she added; “Well, the fourth type of Winged Horse is popular to the United Kingdom, is chestnut in colour and is called an Aethonan.” Smiling, she looked down at her notes in front of her and continued to make a list of the properties listed by her classmates.

This was going to be an amazing class.

Wow. This professor already knew his name! Finn actually went a tad pink in the face.

The small boy wiggled in his seat with excitement as the class finally began. He didn't know what they would be talking about. He didn't even know the options for what they could talk about!

Winged horses, huh? Like Pegasus? he wondered. Of course he would never say that out loud! What if he were wrong?? So instead, he merely listened to what others were saying and marveled at how much they knew compared to him, a blank slate. The familiar feeling of inferiority threatened to engulf him, so he did the only thing he could at this point: take notes. The first year's hand was a blur as he scribbled furiously, trying to get everything being mentioned. His hand was going to be one big smudge of ink by the time this class was over.

Gosh, how on earth did you even spell some of these words? Thestrulls, Aythonins, Paluhmeenos, Abracksins, Bow-Batones, Graineans... There was going to be some serious one-on-one time between him and his textbook in the common room tonight, clearly.

Cornelius' hand shot up in the air. He knew things on this. His uncle Icarus was a magizoologist and dealt with all kinds of creatures. He once let Cornelius ride a winged horse. Boy, was that the worst decision ever.

"There are four breeds of winged horses, classified as XXXX by the Ministry of Magic." And they are AWESOME. Especially when you kick their rear end and they take off to the skies and your parents freak the Fawkes' out.

What a wonderful day, that was.

Daydreamer11 09-11-2016 08:50 PM

It was time for class to start and it didn't take long for Janelle to learn the topic for the day. Winged horses. Next stop to crups, like her Mikey, winged horses may just have been her next favorite magical animal. Janelle had her quill ready. She was anxious to learn everything she could about winged horses.

Question one was soon on the floor. You would think that by now, Janelle would know to put her hand up quickly.......before all the good answers had been given. Alas, she did not. Soooo now, she had to dig deeply.......again, for a non repetitive answer. Raising her hand, she thought of something that hadn't already been said. It was kind of an unimportant detail, but it was an answer. "Granians are grey in color." Everybody write that down.

Genny beamed at the professor and had herself a seat while she watched everyone else fall into a nice, tidy class outside.

Finally, the lesson started. It was about winged horses! Genny's hand shot up in the air instantly, "We ride them on our way to the castle! They're called Thestrals, and only those who've seen death can see them." The gloomy description did not match the Gryffindor's grin and airy attitude, but it was still correct. Probably.

Grrr..Meow 09-11-2016 09:25 PM

Ohhhhh the first winged horse that popped up in Echos mind was Pegasus... its in the greek mytholgoy but she was sure that they were real because well you know magic....

Raising her hand "Professor, there was a big popular winged horse called Pegasus, mostly common near Greece. more around the time of like........750-650 BC" she was sure she had read of story of it before. Something about a half human half god, but she couldnt put her finger on it.... funny that she remember the year that this horse was popular. its funny how the brain works .

Hey Ju 09-11-2016 10:02 PM

Matt GASPED as the image of a winged horse appeared on the board. What an AWESOME picture of an AWESOME creatuuureeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

He sat up straight away and was suddenly wide awake. "Oh, oh!!!" He exclaimed as he raised both his hands and tried bouncing on the beanbag, only to sink deeper into, which had the oposite effect he was going for. Oh well. ANYWAY. "They are MASSIVE and probably could like, crush all your bones if they stepped on you!"

And say WHAT?? Chewie had an ABRAXAN???? Matt stared at his friend with wide eyes as his chin dropped. He knew the boy was rich but, WHOA, MAN. AN ABRAXAN!!! "That is wicked!"

Bazinga 09-11-2016 10:22 PM

Henry got a chuckle with his words and a smile, but before they could talk anymore another boy sat down next to him. Hello younger boy friend of Henry. She gave him a smile but then gave a wave to her bestie Lily as she came in and sat next to her.

ALDF;JA;SKASFSA;DS;ADJACENT;K

Professor say what? They were talking about winged horses! She could have squealed with the topic, but kept herself together. Though she may have been a bit more bouncy in her seat. Her hand shooting up right away, but soon slipping back down as everyone else answered before.

But not everything was said and soon her hand was up again, "Professor everyone had great responses to your question, but Abranax wasn't mentioned by name. They are usually used as pulling and racing horses, though anyone owning any of the winged horses are required by law to do the disillusionment charm to keep them hidden from muggles."

Was that more then one thing? She just couldn't help it she was too excited. She wanted to stay they loved her singing to, but she kept that to herself.

Holmesian Feline 09-11-2016 10:47 PM

Professor Hernandez was prompt.

Cassie had settled into her seat after they exchanged greeting and had just glanced at her watch to see that it had come up to 9am and he began the lesson. No time for being lazy which made it a good thing that she wasn’t as tired and sleepy as some of her classmates appeared to be. As for mention of the professor’s favorite creature she could only randomly guess until a picture was provided.

A winged horse.

The Ravenclaw had to think on what to give as her answer. Especially once everyone else started answering cutting down on what she could give not really wanting to duplicate. It was then that she remembered something from over the summer and she raised her hand. “People compete in winged horse racing. There was some at the Wizarding games this summer.”

The term never tickling a sleeping dragon, it very much applied to Olivia Phillips, regardless of the fact she'd hadn't ACTUALLY done anything but get startled awake. "Circe Livvy." Blink. "Sorry about that."

The boy's attention returned to the Professor. "I'd like you to do neither, Sir." How was that not obvious? He wasn't saying he LIKED this hour, Merlin. Blaise took a few seconds to settle his nerves after the heart attack that was Olivia then he seated himself once again. "Midday lessons would be lovely--if you're taking suggestions." It sounded like it, mhm, because he obviously wasn't insinuating that Blaise should come earlier. It just ....just no. No thanks. No.

Winged horses. Right. Well. "They have wings." Funny that.

Bentley didn't mind early classes. He was a morning person after all so this was fine. He even snorted a little when he noticed that Olivia was apparently fast asleep on the bean bag. Was he the only one who could only sleep in a designated bed?

Perhaps.

Hmmm...what did they know about winged horses? He nodded aggressively at Blaise's answer.

"Very good point cousin. Also note that they are indeed horses. So wings as my cousin pointed out....plus they are horses." Like mundane ones but with wings.

Sonea 09-11-2016 11:09 PM

Oh no, how did the teacher knew that she had been hiding he rat into her pocket? She was sure that she had hidden the small animal well enough for anyone to notice! But... What could she do? She didn't wanted to cause problems already during her first year, not during her classes anyway, or... That was what she had vowed herself to try.

So the only thing she could do was nod to the teacher with a sour face while walking toward her seat and waited for the class to begin, already with her materials ready for use during the lesson.

A flying horse... That was cool! She needed to confess that at last. She even wasn't surprised anymore to find out that horses actually were able to fly, she already had seen such strange things!

Euhm, a question and a good one! She was tempted to answer that they could fly, obviously but she kept her mouth shut and tried to think about something else but... Well, she had actually no idea besides the fact THAT they were having wings and able to fly! Until today she even didn't had know that they existed! So she stayed silent.

PhoenixRising 09-12-2016 12:45 AM

Oh they were talking about winged horses! How cool was that! AND they got cozy beanbags to sit on. But Skylar was way to hyper to get all cozy in her beanbag. She sat upright and tried to avoid bouncing as the Professor introduced the subject matter of today's lesson: which it seemed was to be winged horses.

A lot had already been mentioned, but there was always more especially when the question was so broadly stated.

Bouncing only slightly as she listened to her peers, the second year thought about what she knew and what she read and finally shot her hand in the air when she had an interesting fact to mention. "There's a magical creature, hippogriffs, which have the hindquarters of a horse and the front quarters of an eagle. So the fact that they have wings and are half a horse, it kind of makes them winged horses." Sort of? Loosely? Maybe? Or maybe she REALLY wanted to fly on one, just once.

And mind you, 9 AM is NOT that early. They should've been lucky that he didn't start the class at seven in the morning.

Well...she kind of hoped that as well, professor. But she WAS here so...attendance was already had. Participation may be a bit questionable, however.

The seventh year offer a bashful and apologetic bow of the head accompanied by rosy cheeks as she attempted to get herself situated in her beanbag chair. Which really may as well have been a fluffy cloud.

Right...parchment...quill...not yawning.

Oh and hello Marsha!

And now that class was starting, the Hufflepuff hoped that the topic at hand would help keep her engaged. She was no magizoologist, but studying their anatomy had come up during her healer studies and she needed to be familiar with each creature and their magical properties for when it came to potions brewing.

Distracted by taking notes at first, Paige bit her lip hard and struggled to come up with a contribution to the class that was as insightful as some of her classmates. Still, her hand went up after a moment - or thirty - of hesitation. "The hair from their manes and tails possess magical properties that can be used for wand cores or in certain potions. I...believe the feathers from their wings provide the same benefits."

And really...she was trying SO hard not to laugh at the exchange between Blaise and Bentley.

So hard.

She needed to cover her mouth to do so properly, blue eyes back down to her parchment to focus.

Expecto-Penguin 09-12-2016 01:55 AM

Colt nodded to the Professor and thought ya know it would have been a smart idea to bring a thermos to class. He was def bring one next time. He was glad he could use magic to clean the coffee spills because if this was the muggle world he was screwed. He paid attention to the what he was bringing out. He squinted his eyes and he saw a winged horse? Hmm they were much beautiful in person. He remembered the winged horse named Pegasus in greek mythology. I don't think the teacher would be interested in that. He thought about facts he knew about them.

Welll....they were a horse and had wings. Thanks captain obvious. He muddled through his brain and then decided why not bring Pegasus up? "Professor I know there is a popular winged horse named Pegasus and I know he is from greek mythology and all butt they did help defeat chimaeras."

Boom. Score. One Point for Winchester.

Cassirin 09-12-2016 02:16 AM

Oh, winged horses? REALLY REALLY? Easy as pie. Katy perked up, in spite of how deep she'd sunk into her beanbag chair and now it made her essentially horizontal as she tried to take notes. Still... this girl was perked.

"Professor! Professor!" She wiggled around in her seat so she could raise a hand. "Winged horses can be found all over the world, INCLUDING at my house. They're good eaters, y'know?"

Lissy Longbottom 09-12-2016 02:47 AM

Some of the answers that her classmates were giving were SO amateur Scarlett had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. They had WINGS? Really? They came in different colors? What was this, muggle kindergarten? Geez. She raised her hand to contribute her answer, which hopefully Mr. Cutie Professor would find more...erm...intellectually stimulating than some of her peers' answers.

"They're one of the few creatures in our world that muggles acknowledge in their folklore as well. Although of course, they don't think they're actually real, just a myth," she explained.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 09-12-2016 03:21 AM

Rula wasn't too bothered by early classes since she was more of an early bird than a night owl, so she was alert and ready to write down some notes - though still not quite her normal, bubbly self. But that was fine. She didn't need to be in order to pay attention in her classes.

Winged horses were a great subject for this lesson too. They were very pretty, so Rula was looking forward to this one. She jotted down the facts other students gave that interested her, but otherwise remained silent since she couldn't think of anything that hadn't been covered by others.

Stefan 09-12-2016 06:33 AM

Sitting up straighter in his beanbag chair, Jace raised his hand and waited for his turn to answer. “Some breeders prefer single malt whiskey for their winged horses, particularly the Abraxan breed professor. I assume it’s because they grow to be larger than regular horses and are extremely powerful so their diet must be composed of something strong.” He was curious however about the other breeds’ diets. Little is known about the others, right?

Speaking of winged horses, will they get to ride one today? Groom it? Or at least...feed it? The idea of getting his hands dirty made Jace more awake this time. Hands on activities were the best!

TeafortheSoul 09-12-2016 06:58 AM

Well of COURSE Char knew things about winged horses, her family had a breeding stable after all AND it was how her parents had fell in LOOOOVE, being all Ravenclaw about the mash mix for the baby Abraxans they had been taking care of right HERE. But what could she contribute to the discussion? Char thought about it and decided to go with something simple, her hand raised.

"Lots of people race them, they're very fast. I think Granian racing is the most fun to watch, but Abraxan racing is the most popular."

Owen sent a quick grin to the girl who sat on Henry's other side, Nat, before answering his mate. "Yea, sure." Running in the afternoon was also great. Then all conversation began to cease as their Professor announced the start of class.

Today they were tackling....WINGED HORSES!! "Wooh!" Owen exclaimed, even punching the air because hello, winged horses. That was very very cool and he knew quite a bit about them because again hello, winged horses. Hand up. "One breed of winged horses, the Abraxan, they can grow as big as elephants. GRIN. Very cool, right?!
