Does an older student want to play with us pretty please? :3 Skylar was missing Professor Draper now more than ever. At least Draper wouldn't have treated her like a five year old saying that cause she was 'younger' she needed to ride with an older student. Did Hernandez not realize how she'd grown up around creatures and was fully capable of mounting her own. Just cause she was smaller, didn't make her less capable than someone older. She's ridden a mundane horse before. Chewing her lower lip, the twelve year old surveyed a moment or two the various creatures before choosing one of the chestnut-brown Aethonan ones and made her way over to it, smiling politely at it. "Hi there," she smiled, inclining her head towards it out of respect. "May I pet you?" She asked. After a brief moment to wait to make sure the horse wasn't about to run away or worse - attack her - Sky took a confident step towards the horse and stroked its mane. "You're a sweet one." She commented decisively, figuring she could safely ride it without an older student if there was none around. Where was her brother or Noelle? They were fourth years and would ride it with her if she wanted. Hady too, probably. Even though she was still sure she could do it on her own and no doubt she would if no one offered to accompany her 2. Mounting 3. Finding balance and positioning your legs 4. *doesn't even know what post number anymore* SPOILER!!: lmao XD we're just taking a beating today. Thanks Genny Paige felt her stomach drop and her face paled instantly when Genny looked as though she were about to fall off. And Hattie...stop...don't...no...no reminders about how HIGH up the Gryffindor was please. The seventh year had finally pulled herself to her feet and would rather not sink back down to the ground. Although it seemed as though sinking into the ground wasn't going to be the issue...but leaping out of the way to avoid being trampled may be. Her bum still a bit sore - but still clutching the wing she had collected in her hand - Paige was about to leap backwards when the younger Hufflepuff blocked that option. Or, well, it was still an option but she was likely to fall ON Hattie and squish her. She DID end up sort of spinning them out of harms way and..no...no high fives were given. "Genny! Careful!" she cautioned. "S-Slow down and land! Pull on the bridle!" And could she NOT look so happy about all this? |
Post 3 Rula allowed Sunshine to fly as long as she possibly could, really not wanting it to end. But soon most of the other students were landing, so it was probably getting close to the end of the lesson. Weird how that could be both a good thing and kinda sad too. She pulled on the reins gently, and the Aethonan turned himself toward the ground, descending swiftly but carefully. And once he reached a complete stop, Rula gave him a quick stroke on his neck and murmured, "Good boy," before dismounting. "You fly so well," she told the horse, petting his neck again. "Thanks for letting me ride." Sunshine snorted a little in response, and Rula smiled. Text Cut: Steps |
Post 4: SAD ABOUT LANDING! With everyone beginning to land, seeing as the sky was clearing of horses, Liv tried her absolute hardest to stay up in the air. NOPE. She wasn't ready yet! THIS WAS WHAT FREEDOM FELT LIKE, but with nudging from the older girl behind her... Well, she couldn't deny that it was time for this to come to an end. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. She waited for her partner to pull on the reins so they could land, but it seemed like the girl was leaving this bit to her. WELL, THEN. Never fear, Olivia knew how to do this! Pulling the leather straps taut, she firmly tugged them back towards herself. Just so that it left no room for questioning. It wasn't an immediate response, which was understandable since the horse was so big, but they were definitely making a descent. Slow at first, but then faster and faster as the ground seemed to rise up to meet them. THUD! Usually not one to get queasy about these things, Liv felt the strangest urge to throw up. Perhaps it had been the jolt of landing. Either way, she didn't feel as though could actually get off the horse just yet. Because....just wow. Her Gryffindor mind was BLOWN. |
Post 2 Once she stroked her Aethonan as much she felt necessary to gain more confidence with it, Skylar gave it another stroke, and then carefully mounted it, similar to as she'd done many times in the past with mundane horses. Positioning herself on the horse, and readjusting herself she was comfortable, she felt natural on the horse. Holding the bridle and reins, she glanced over at her classmates and surveyed a moment from the height of the horse as she adjusted and accustomed to just sitting on the horse and waiting. Feeling the beating of horse's heart beneath her legs, she smiled and felt herself synchronizing with it. 2. Mounting 3. Finding balance and positioning your legs 4. Holding the bridle/rein 5. He led the way to the small Aethonan, still holding the carrots in his hand he'd been bringing over when Hernandez introduced the next part of the lesson. "No name yet that I know of, but definitely a guy." Pretty easy to tell, after all. "Hey bud," he said, proffering his hand full of carrots. "Just like I promised, here they are. Oh, and I brought a new friend. This is Kitty, you'll like her." He stroked the horse's mane with the hand that wasn't currently holding the remnants of carrots. "So.. I picked a shorter horse because I'm so short. But," he hated to admit this, "I still think you should get on first. I may need a hand." Yeah, he could mount off one of the mounting blocks, but still. |
Post 3 ^_^ As she felt herself getting comfortable with the Aethenon, Skylar also felt herself feeling anxious to fly again. In her mind, it was similar to flying a broom, which the adrenaline rush she might get from it, had her anxious to take off into the air already. Squeezing the horse gently with her legs, she grinned as she held on tight, feeling the horse kick off into the air. "EEP!" Using her the reins to help herself control the direction of the horse, she pulled on them gently to land only a couple minutes after flying around overhead because well, everyone else seemed to be landing too. Though she definitely wanted to come out and play with the winged horses some more on her own time, if she was allowed, because flying. But in the meanwhile, her two minute ride around in the air would have to temporarily satiate her desire to fly. "Thank you," She whispered when the horse landed, as she swung her left leg over to the right side of the horse and practically hopped off the horse, landing on all fours. Mission accomplished, all on her own. See, she knew she could do this. She'd ridden a horse before and a broom, so this was just like a combination of the two. 2. Mounting 3. Wrapping up ^____^ Quote:
Looking at his watch, Jordan noticed that it's time to wrap up the class. TIME'S UP, CLASS!!" He announced to the whole students, amplifying his hoarse voice by casting the sonorus charm. "NOW ALL OF YOU SHOULD LAND AND DISMOUNT FROM THE HORSE." Oops, he still had his voice amplified. "Thank you for coming to today's class. If you guys still want to try the horse riding or playing with them, just come to the barn." He announced. "Class dismissed!" OOC: sorry to cut out the fun, guys! But thank you for attending the class. I will leave this thread open for a few hours so you guys can dismount from the horse and say goodbye to them. |
Question for the professor Quote:
"Well... um... thanks anyways, Kitty. Maybe we can try working together some other time, I guess. Only if you want to, though!" he added hastily. He never wanted to impose himself on anyone. Because he was just a little first year, after all. Prefects could definitely do better for themselves. "Well, bud," he said, addressing the horse. "It's been really fun. Maybe some day I'll get to ride you anyways." It wasn't the horse's fault, after all. Finn kept stroking its mane, not wanting to leave yet. Oh, he had an idea. "Excuse me, Professor Hernandez," he said, trying to get the man's attention politely. "I never got a chance to ride my horse. You see, I was having trouble finding an older student to partner with." Certainly not the man's fault, just unfortunate. "So I was just wondering if there was ever going to be another chance for me to ride any of them, sir." Please say yes please say yes please say yes! |

He offered a hand to help her slide off the horse, "Think you'll be alright?" He concern showed very clearly. |
Juno, hearing the Professor call out to them that it was time to finish class, gently pulled on the reins to get Gemma to fly back down. "Sorry that we couldn't stay up longer Kat!" Juno called out to the younger girl. This horse really flew beautifully. Once the landed, and Gemma completely stopped, Juno dismounted. "Need help getting down?" She asked the younger girl. Juno put her hand out for the younger girl to take it so that she wouldn't fall getting out of the saddle. "Thank you for being my partner by the way. I really appreciate it." She gave Kat a big smile. This had been an awesome class! |

Now she only needed to wait until the flying horse would stop and stand still so that she could get away from it as fast as possible but she was hesitant to do so, she didn't wanted to make a fool of herself by throwing up the second she stood back on the ground so she counted to then before speaking and moving at all, sure that her face still must be white. "I'm fine now that we're done with it" spoke Leesha slightly shaking and than she did something she wasn't doing often to others too old to be her friends and offered him her hand while smiling weakly. "Thanks for not letting me fall" she said, knowing full well that she would have made a fool of herself without his help during this lesson. |
Post.... 5? XD The Escape of a Flying Horse Text Cut: Paige and Hattie xD sorry The closer she got to the ground with her arm extended like that, the clearer how scared Hattie (who was now only partially visible) and Paige looked. "NO, DON'T WORRY, I GOT THIS!" She called out to them seconds before the horse swooped right next to them and then shot vertically up to the sky in a surprising move. Genny, with only one hand holding the reins since she was prepared for a highfive (thanks a lot for not doing it, by the way, Puffies) rotated on the horse's back in that second he changed directions and let go of the rein to roll off his back and fall those three meters on top of her friends down on the ground. It wasn't the most graceful landing, but she DID land soundly. Her head did buzz a little from hitting the girls but other than that she still had her grin on her face because, "BEST. RIDE. EVER!" The Gryffindor scrambled away from the girls to her knees and hands on the ground. "Did you see that????" DID EVERYONE SEE THAT??? Quote:

with a question to the professor here at the end ^^ SPOILER!!: genny pls XD And now it was raining Gryffindors. One Gryffindor, actually. And once again Paige found herself knocked to the ground this lesson - knocked and squished it one wanted to be accurate - but at least Genny was off the winged horse now and safe? Safe physically and safe from trouble it seemed as well since the professor was not scolding. Thank Merlin. That was a rhetorical question...yes? "De-definately did," she laughed drying in response. Definately saw, definately, panicked, definately felt relieved now. Pulling herself up and helping Hattie up as well, Genny was already off running before Paige could do much else...and then class dismissed. OH HER FEATHER! Checking around her, Paige found it still in one piece and unbent despite things and carefully tucked it away in her pocket. "Professor Hernandez?" Paige inquired, moving shyly in the man's direction as she as still feeling sheepish about her inability to participate. "Could I, um, perhaps learn grooming techniques for winged horses sometime?" Up close and personal look at their feathers with the potential to collect more. She had...a bit of a project in mind for them. |

Hadleigh smiled, the wind blowing in her face, hair flying around. The feeling was amazing. It didn't matter if she could fly on a broom, apparate, or change into an animal. Being up on a creature such as this one was completely different from anything else. She took in a deep breath simply enjoying the ride. "They're very responsive and attentive as well. They listen to what they're told." Usually. It was all about handling as well. If he wasn't afraid then he had more control. All to soon however they were landing, the lesson was over. Their professors shouts had confirmed that. The winged horse touched down smoothly enough onto the ground and Jace got off first. Taking the boys out stretched hand Hady slid off the horses back as well. Once on her feet she let go of Jace's hand to give the horse a few pats and a quiet 'thanks'. "You did an amazing job for your first time." She smiled. "Oh no, no. Sammie is my cruppie I adopted him last term from Professor Draper." Not a winged horse but still loads of fun. "It was fun working with you Jace, I'll see you at 8 at the barns," Hady told him warmly before going to get her things. Slinging her bag over her shoulder she gave a wave to Jordon. "Thanks for the lesson Professor!" |
*declones* :3 Quote:
Once Hady was on the ground, Jace followed suit and patted the Abraxan as his way of saying thank you. He did feel majestic while riding on it, and the feeling of elation didn't escape him. The feeling of being in control of something as huge as the Abraxan was definitely something to remember...and something that he would like to relive sometime soon. "Thank you. I did the best that I could." he said slightly bowing his head towards Hady. Jace wasn't completely comfortable with receiving complements, and it was definitely something he should work on. "Arigatou gozaimashita, Hady-san. I will see you soon then. And Sammie." A crup? He was never allowed to have a dog when him and his brother were younger so being able to pet and look after one this weekend made Jace more excited. With a wave to Hady, Jace went on to collect his things as well and bowed to Professor Hernandez on his way out. "Thank you sensei. I'll come visit the barn soon." Because winged horses! With a light jog, Jace headed out of the enclosure and went straight for the Library. He's got a lot to write down from his flight experience. |
Owen agreed with Sammy that Tenacius would be the one to hold the reins. Less accidents if the winged horse didn't get confused as to who among the three of them was really steering him. "Yeah. She's right." And off they went. The abraxan was trotting along, slowly at first, like it was trying to adjust to the additional weight of the three of them. Tenacius pretty much showed how expert he actually was with this, while Owen made sure they were rear-end safe. The badger then began to add pressure to the abraxans sides like his companions and held on tightly as it gained momentum and finally took off. "Wohoooo!" Quote:

This was amazing! Henry had waited so long to ride a winged horse and it had totally been worth the wait. It wasn't too unlike broom flying, but still different at the same time. Pulling the reins slightly to guide him, Henry flew their horse a little further out towards the lake. Hopefully Miranda was having as much fun as he was. They weren't in the air much longer when he heard the very loud voice of Professor Hernandez. Aw, they were done already? That was disappointing. But hopefully he'd be allowed to ride them again outside lessons. Henry flew him closer to the class area, looking for an open space on the grounds before he pulled back on the reins to guide their Aethonan to the ground. Luckily this horse was obviously used to riders because Henry wasn't sure he could guide him into a smooth landing being his first time. But the horse eased onto the ground, slowing down to a stop. The boy carefully dismounted from the horse and gave him a few pats. "Thanks for the ride, that was fun!" he grinned. He'd have to ride this guy again. Going to find his things, he picked them up and headed over to the professor as he began to dismiss them. "Uh, Professor, I was wondering.. Does that horse already have a name?" He pointed out the Aethonan he had just ridden. He was just wondering plus it would make it easier for him to know which of them to ride next time. Also.. "And would I be allowed to ride him again? Outside of class, I mean." |
*just because Liv wants to see these horses again*... Once she was back on the ground and NOT feeling like she was about to lose her breakfast all over the place, she'd made her way back, putting her notes away and digging around for her water bottle. NOT like flying a broom. STILL BRILLIANTLY AWESOME, but kinda disorienting at first. Guh. Chocolate. She needed chocolate. Helping herself to a muggle chocolate kiss, she popped it into her mouth, shouldering her bag. Instead of leaving, everyone seemed to be asking questions about returning for more time with the horses. Yea, Liv would've been down for another ride, now that she understood what to expect. Well, professor? Olivia waited for his response before heading out to her next lesson. |
Class was over? Nat knew it was getting close but look at all the horses did she really have to go anywhere else? Couldn't she just stay here the rest of the day and play with them? Turning to Azura she smiled, [b] "Thanks for being my partner, you really did great. Maybe we could fly again sometime."[/b[ Azura was going to do just fine flying by herself, but flying with someone was always more fun. Turning she gathered her things and walked over to the professor. Since he never said if she could help with anything after class or not she figured he got it and she'd just head to her next class. "Thank you so much for the great lesson professor. I'll be seeing you in the barn soon. If you ever need me to do something you could leave a note for when I come in." Since she was a daily regular she wouldn't mind if he had specific things he wanted done. |

She kept them spiraling just so they could enjoy as much flying time as possible. Probably the wouldn't get long. Quote:
"Brace yourself, it shouldn't be a hard landing but here we go!" Aaaand... there! Icarus trotted from air to ground and slowed to a stop within a few steps, then Char went ahead and did the stroke-between-the-eyes trick again to get him to kneel again for easy dismounting. Did Cassie need help getting off of the Aethonan? |
Quote:
Just a little rougher than an airplane landing but all students and Aethonans were soon safe and sound and stopped on the ground. “Nice Icarus,” she said stroking the winged horse. Even before Cassie could think of jumping down, Charlotte was working on getting their mount to kneel once more. Better move for it was less distance to cover. She slipped her one leg back over the horse’s back and saddle before letting go and jumping to the ground, stepping away so the other girl had the room to follow. "Thanks for the flight, Icarus," she told the horse, giving him a good rub before speaking to Charlotte. "And thanks for the help. See you around." With that, the Ravenclaw taking her leave to grab her belongings to leave. |

Yesssiiir! "No, sir. I was curious about being able to come back some other time, but you said we could." With a smile, she hefted her bag higher up onto her shoulder. "Thank you for the lesson, Professor. I hope your others are as fun as this one." With another smile, and some more waving she trekked off to her next lesson. |

The Hufflepuff's eyes widened, her moral compass in complete jeopardy and trying to weasel her way out of not gaining some unnecessary karmic debt for lying to a professor...but if there was something she was good at it was taking words literally and, technically speaking, the man had not asked her specifically about how her ride Genny had certainly enjoyed it...sooooo... "Riveting and enjoyable," she replied through a gritted smile as she got her backpack back on. "Thank you, professor. I'll make an appointment with you sometime." And then, before her conscious could make her word vomit all over him like had happened every single summer at Scribbulus, she offered the man one last fleeting smile and small wave before heading back towards the castle. Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaafe. |
