Azura sighed softly.. She had already said how she felt about her number and she mentally cringed as Liv corrected her.. Yes she knew it was Mars! She had just gotten a little flustered! That was all.. She bit her lip and got to working on coping her notes from last class over to this one.. SPOILER!!: Az's notes And there it was.. the awful truth.. Steady, faithful and true.. She was a bloody Golden Retriever.. Woo for her.. She sighed softly as she listened about Destiny numbers.. Which she had NO idea what they were.. and quite honestly.. she was a little scared about it right now as well. |
sorry if i missed anyone <3 ”I know it sounds odd to say to write down the information form last class however with the calculations that we are doing today I wanted to make it easier for you to compare the information we pull today to the information you have with you now” he smiled and looked around at everyone before walking over to the board. ”now, we don’t have as many questions with this lesson as we have more work to go through.” he spoke as he wrote out his full name on the board and turned to the students again. ”now, with this class we are going to be focusing on our core numbers along with a few of the core companions as these can really give oneself a deeper view into yourself and how arithmancy may affect you.” Yes it was moving faster but that was because well, it was easier right? This wasn’t that hard. ”if you have forgotten your information please take this time to calculate your life-path numbers, again you can look in your notes from last class and copy them over.” he paused for a moment, ”with those calculated we are moving on to working with our Expression numbers, which by looking at chapter seven in our books we can see that we use our full name – first, middle – if you have multiple middle names like myself remember to calculate them out as well, and when each name has the numbers assigned to the proper letters we need to move on to the next bit which is to reduce the total number of each name down to a single root number.” he paused for a moment, ”again as we discussed last class if you have a master number remember to pull both explanations out as with this again we need to calculate evertything out – that being said if you get the number 33 as a final number write that down as your root as well as the number 6, and so on with 22, and 11.” he explained with a smile as he looked at his name on the board. Why did he become an arithmetician again? He quickly jotted the letter and number information on the board before continuing to write his name and the letter and number connections in his destiny number down on the board. SPOILER!!: number & letter information Rafael Joao Gabriel Tiago Carraro RAFAEL = 916153 JOAO = 1616 GABRIEL = 7129953 TIAGO = 29176 CARRARO = 3199196 ”now as I have my name out here – I am going to go on and reduce them down to the root numbers for each separate part of my name” he smiled. It wasn’t going to be too hard for everyone right? He thought they could do this, they had been doing so well all term. ”so class please calculate this out and remember to use all of the letters in these names, and for this we are using just your current name for the destiny numbers.” SPOILER!!: the info on the board (calculating his name out) |
Azura bit her lip as she looked up at the Professor.. She had already calculated her life path number so with that done it was time to find her destiny number! Her name wasn't actually a question due to the fact that Kennedy was still part of her name.. She hadn't really wanted to fully lose that part of her Father so she had made that another one of her middle names. So her current name was Azura Luna Kennedy Snow.. She just hadn't told many people about that.. She looked up at the board and then down at her parchment and took a breath.. here went nothing.. SPOILER!!: Az's notes Huh... Well that was new and interesting.. she wasn't exactly sure how she felt about it.. but she liked a few parts of it.. she definitely knew how to express herself through the piano.. did that count? |
Jace placed his old notes underneath a fresh parchment, and watched the professor do his computation. If anything, he was glad he didn’t have a long name. Having two names was unusual in Japan, but this could help him to know himself further. More information/name, the better, right? Just…not that ridiculously long like Professor Carraro’s. Once the professor was done, he went on to compute his own Expression Number. Hopefully, this number would make more sense than his Life Path Number. Otherwise, he’d just put this bit in the back burner for future reference. Or maybe never? Anyway, the Ravenclaw kept his head down and focused on his work. SPOILER!!: Parchment! The raven-haired boy could not help but smile at his work. Now, that’s more like it. The half-Japanese was all about brotherhood really, and he’d wish time and again that people would be kinder to each other. Harmony and peace are always hard to find nowadays, yes? The Ravenclaw placed his work down, and turned to see how everyone’s doing. “Does anyone need help?” he asked softly, so as not to disrupt the others. See? Helping. He’s on the right path. |
Brooklyn could have offered her answer as to her thoughts about her life path number. However, she’d stayed silent, just listening as the discussion continued. Besides, all she would have said was a decided ‘no, it did not’, so it was easier to just stay quiet. Plus, nobody would feel the need to bother her if she did so. Instead, she’d just occupied herself with the softest of tapping of her pen on the parchment on her desk, only shifting to write on it when they were instructed as to actual things. Not just notes that she hardly cared about. They hadn’t covered anything she couldn’t find already written down anyhow. Applying pen to parchment, she began by writing her life path number down, then followed with the information pertinent to the lesson. SPOILER!!: math is still evil ;) And yet another number that she didn’t feel described her at all. At least she hadn’t had to look up the description, though. It was right up there on the board, and it made her wonder if it meant she had something in common with the professor. |
Paige was feeling a little lost - thankfully her textbook reminded her that destiny and expression were terms used interchangeably for the same number - and kept wondering if she had zoned out of part of the discussion thinking about astrology. Had her thinking been...close? Core numbers? Good Merlin she needed to go back and brush up on this subject before NEWTs clearly. As tempting as it was to read right now, the Hufflepuff attempted to draw her focus to the calculations at hand. Which meant she needed to take several deep breaths as she wrote her name down first and then...numbers. All the numbers. MEEP! SPOILER!!: parchment And...well...that seemed accurate and scarily so. Assuming all her math was correct which the Hufflepuff had very little confidence in. Still, it pleased her greatly to see the word 'healing' in the description. Only solidified her choices after Hogwarts as far as she was concerned - although the last sentence did strike a cord with her, some poignant words said to her from a certain special someone that had felt like the truest thing ever said to her in the moment - and she was not quite sure as to whether or not that was a good thing. |
It was nice that Professor Carraro was asking them what they thought their numbers were and if it applied to them, that meant he agreed with her that you should have some say over your number and not the other way around. In her opinion numbers were more like guidelines anyway. Anyway, now it was time for math. This part was always fun: Kitty (3) 2 + 9 + 2 + 2 + 7 = 21 2 +1 = 3 DuGray (4) 4 + 3 + 7 + 9 + 1 + 7 = 31 3 + 1 = 4 Valentine (3) 4 + 1 + 3 + 5 + 5 + 2 + 9 + 5 + 5 = 39 3 + 9 = 12 1 + 2 = 3 3 + 4 + 3 = 10 1 - 0 = 1 Kitty read the description for one: ONE (1): Your mission in life is to cultivate the self and to become a leader. Your purpose in life is to be indomitable, take the initiative, be independent, original, innovative and take charge - all to develop your sense of self, your will, and your determination. Learning to stand on your own, think for yourself, and individuate your character, as well as new things, new ideas, and unique activities provide great opportunity for your to approach your destiny. You are destined for leadership - be it and teach it. Well. When she had first come to Hogwarts (and earlier in Romania) if you had told her she was destined to be a leader, she would never have believed it - she had been way too shy. Now, however, she was much more confident and had many friends and was even a prefect. Was she destined to be head girl? The thought sent a shiver down her spine. All in all though she was happy with her number. |
Basically if Kat didn't get something or understand it, she could quickly get uninterested. This lesson though was one big ball of confusion to her so yet, she had lost interest it. All she knew was to add up, things soon. She didn't understand how numbers told her anything. but for the most part they were right..... kind of. Soon she would end up in some crazy Katerina daydream. Which today ending up being falling flower pedals raining down, a dancing unicorn as she played a beautiful piano version of Pachelbel's Canon in D. What a lovely lovely day dream. Something snapped her out of the day dream and she realized that everyone was working on their work. The third year got to work adding up of name whatever it was called, anyway she was doing her work now. SPOILER!!: Notes |
Cassie had had to think to try and remember what she had learned about her number the previous class. And when she searched her notes, she was reminded she hadn’t been a clean yes or no on whether she felt the meaning fit her. However, the class was already moving on so the Ravenclaw did too, returning to her parchment for today’s lesson’s progress. Destiny numbers the topic of the day and what was written clear across the top of it. And underneath the third year proceeded to complete her math for the current lesson assignment. Getting the duplicate twenty-six and eights as before. It really was weird but oh well, not the matter for the moment. The end answer was. SPOILER!!: Notes Well that was definitely more of a clear connection. Spoke Ravenclaw loud and clear. |
Activity 1 ”now, as most of you have started calculating your destiny numbers I want you to go on after these and calculate the remaining core numbers,” he spoke in a bemused tone as he tapped the board and the instructions for the first part of the activity began to take form on the board. ”don’t forget to pay attention to each of the calculation and reduction methods listed in your textbooks, if you don’t have the information from last class I implore that you calculate your life-path numbers and also record the information on the vibrational numbers as the calculation method is the same for both.” he paused for a moment as he summoned his thermos from his office. ”with these calculations please feel free to ask any of the students or myself for aid if you feel that it is needed.” Taking a sip of his tea he added a soft almost soothing tone, ”after these are calculated we will be moving on to the next part of our lesson which will include a few more calculations as well as a discussion of the numbers your name or birth information depicts of you” he explained with a small smile. Quote:
ooc: class will move on in about 12 hours – I’m sorry for the delay this weekend we had a surprise early birth of my nephew Kellen…he’s a giant baby really giant. 11lbs 2oz and if I can I will give all of you who want them a picture when I get one thanks for your patience xo – jess |
Ohh hey look... more calculations.. Azura bit her lip as she looked down at her parchment.. her head was already hurting a bit due to all the math she had had to do so far.. and now she got to do.. more of it.. Fwoopers help her! The Raven haired Ravenclaw bit her lip as she opened her textbook and hovered her Sapphire colored Quill over her parchment as she started to Calculate.. Ohh her full name on her Birth Certificate.. Strike the Kennedy then.. That was on her adoption form.. SPOILER!!: Az's notes Huh.. for the first time.. that actually fit her rather perfectly. Finally!! All right onto the next thing.. SPOILER!!: Az's notes Huhhhhh.. Yeah she guessed that all seemed right.. And HEY! She got to look young for a long time! She could deal with that. All right numbers.. finally they were making sense! |
Activity 1 As she had been one of the students who had already started her…well actually finished finding her destiny number…as the professor mentioned for them to move on to the other numbers, Cassie was ready. Starting with her Heart’s Desire number as the next on the list, she proceeded to label the work area appropriately before writing her full name as before. Then she numbered the vowels of her names as instructed by the textbook. Not real hard given they were all a’s. SPOILER!!: Soul Number Work The next number…her personality number…was a bit more interesting for Cassandra. There were many more consonants available to label and do calculations with, even if there were duplicates in the mix. It wasn’t like she had a short name to work with. So Cassie repeated the process for the new math, adding it on her parchment beneath the previous calculation. SPOILER!!: Personality Number Work Now she just had to figure out how she felt about the definitions in relation to her life. |
Activity 1 Jace’s head snapped back to the front and towards the Sparkly Professor as soon as he started talking. More computation for them? This earned Professor Carraro a grin. He liked numbers; he liked dealing with all kinds of complex formulas and getting a right answer out of it. Since the 14 year old already had two computation done, he went on to compute for his Heart’s Desire Number. Well, what could it possibly be? Kendo perhaps? Or anything related to Japan? SPOILER!!: Heart’s Desire It would be flat-out lying if Jace said this bit didn’t strike a chord. His heart’s desire number pretty much summed up his wants in life. Harmony was first on his list, and he’s pretty tickled with the fact that that desire is actually tied to him as a person. It was perhaps, one of the validations he needed. He somehow cannot understand his heart for now, however. Who wouldn’t want to be committed and be loved deeply in return right? Matters of the heart were a complex thing, he thought. He’d seen how his parents broke up and reunite in the past, and since then, his faith in romantic relationships wavered. He didn’t trust those completely. SPOILER!!: Personality Number ..................................what? Jace double checked his work, and let out a chuckle. Life of the party? One would have to drag him to go to a party, unless it was something that has piqued his interest like...a poltergeist wedding. Great speaker...hogs the spotlight?! As long as he’s alive and breathing, there was no way he’d get the attention of people. The amusement from earlier turned into worry though. Was this how the others perceived him to be? This was his exterior? Really? Really?! |
Of course there were more calculations. Brooklyn was only reminded more and more of why she didn’t really like the subject of Arithmancy, and questioning why she didn’t drop it like she had Divination. At least there weren’t so many calculations in the latter subject. Either way, she had to admit she was curious if the numbers were going to continue to not sound like her at all. She was definitely not continuing to come to class if everything seemed absolutely wrong, after all. There was every chance she’d walk out if they did, or at least stop doing any work at all. As it was, she knew she was doing more than she usually did, but then there wasn’t anyone in class who she felt like asking to do the work for her. Aside from maybe the professor, but she wouldn’t go that far. Therefore, she set about doing the other calculations. SPOILER!!: more evil math Surprisingly, she actually found that those did seem more like her. Of course, anything would have seemed more like her than the first two calculations had, in her opinion. Plus, she liked knowing she had a master number in there somewhere. It made her feel more powerful than the people who didn’t. |
Sigh. Right. Char reached for her book, her parchment, and a quill (though it took a few goes because of being squished back in the beanbag) and tried to arrange herself comfortably to work on things. It was hard to use the table with these seats so she used her lap, opening the text book and arranging her parchment on the opposite facing page, and rearranging every time she needed to switch to a new page. NGHHHHHHHHUHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It wasn't that she was DUMB it was just that this stuff was so hard to focus on! Quote:
What was next? She looked up at the board. .... GUHHHH. THREE MORE TO DO? WHERE WAS HER BROTHER? Surely he'd calculated their whole family's numbers by now! She could just get the answers off him! |
*playing catch up* *don't mind me* The third year looked around at everyone as he sat down. He didn't hate this class at all. He honestly really wanted to love this class so much. It seemed very easy enough to do but he loved more hands on classes. Something that was just bursting with fun and Arithmancy just wasn't that class to him. Divinations wasn't either was that was for completely different reasons all together. Bradson took a seat, he had to focus. He had to learn to do his best. He had to learn to understand this. It could be like music, you know. They both had some numbers in a sense. |
she... won't let me double check for mistakes. >.> Sigh. These beanbag seats were comfy and all but they were hard to get out of and she couldn't lean over far enough to try and get her brother's attention without risking falling out again. It was no use, she had to do the calculations on her own. SPOILER!!: Life Path/Vibration She found the next page in her textbook, the bit about Expression/Destiny numbers and rubbed at her eyes. Okay. This was gonna be a lot of numbers. Blech. Her parents should have gave her a shorter name! Quote:

... was she done ye--- oh nooooo. One more. Ughhghghhh. She needed a candy break or something, but she'd not brought anything. Sugar would help so much right now. Quote:

Whoops... Natalia didn't mean to start daydreaming, especially in this class, but it had happened and now she noticed people were working and she wasn't. What was going on? How could she seriously fall into a daydream in this class. Her favorite class. NO! That was so unacceptable and she hurried up and pulled out her notes from that December class. It took some time to go through all the notes since it was April and that was December, but she finally found them. Quote:
Now they were doing a Destiny Number. These were always so long. She looked at the list of numbers compared to the letters and started writing them down. Seeing the numbers always made her so happy and she smiled as she started placing the equation down on her paper. She probably was the only person that was excited to have a long name for this. Her curiosity had gotten to her on what the difference would be from what her name is now that she held her father's last name compared to when she held her mother's. Quote:
She looked at it and read it. Then read it again. This now this was closer to how she felt. She was learning compassion and what compassion towards her felt like. She had been learning that since she moved here with her father and met all the people at Hogwarts. She learned a bit from all her friends, all the people she cared about, and now even professors. She glanced at her old number (8) when she carried her mother's last name and compared the two. It truly was like she had grown into the second one. SPOILER!!: 8 Command of self and purpose is to accomplish and flourish using her skill. Her skill in singing got her through the bad times with her mother, surviving it and now being here and growing was the accomplishment and now she was strong enough to move into learning compassion. She was stunned by the way it seemed to mesh together when truly thinking about it. |
More calculations. Oh Merlin. Rubbing her temples, Paige took a moment to try and relax her shoulders that had become more than a little tense during the initial calculations. She even took the time to stretch her neck, slowly rolling it from side to side, and then rolled her shoulders before lifting her quill and flipping through her textbook for the next series of instructions. She could remember what these numbers represented...but how to get there was something that just never stuck with her. So...next up was the The Heart’s Desire/Soul Urge Number...but the Hufflepuff was not quite ready to just dive into that. So, rather than start right away with the calculations, she decided to read over the potential outcomes and see if she could guess based on those which one would turn out to be her. Or, at least, which one she felt like was most fitting...which felt like 9, 6, or 2... Down to business then? SPOILER!!: parchment Naturally, the seventh year only realized AFTER she had reassigned the letters of her name to the appropriate numbers that she had quite literally just done that. Way to go, Skeeter. All that cross referencing for naught. Still, despite the extra effort, she was pleased that her initial inklings had been right and the numbered result felt accurate...unlike the possibility of her receiving a 1 or a 4 for example. |
After thinking about these numbers and the connection a bit she moved on to the next one. The heart's desire, this one was one she wasn't about but it was numbers and figures so off she went in her parchment doing the calculations. She took all the vowels in her name and started doing the math. Quote:
Was it bad that this description made her feel bad? She didn't feel she was any of this. It was something she actually wish she could be, but she knew that her emotions controlled her and she came off as selfish when she didn't mean to. What didn't help that even changing back to her mother's name gave her the same heart's desire number of nine. So nothing changed with her name it was still the same calculation of something she truly wasn't. |
One last set of calculations and then she was done! But still...the seventh year wanted a bit of a break from crunching numbers so she once again read over the definitions associated with each to pick out which she felt best represented her. 2 jumped out almost immediately and she could even hear Noel and Brian's voice echoing certain sentiments represented in the definition - although both were much firmer with her when pointing such things out - and 9 made her feel a little pull as well. Suppose she ought to see what the calculations had to say about this, yeah? SPOILER!!: parchment .................................................. ........ Nope. Paige just stared and blinked at her textbook for a few moments before slowly beginning to copy the definition down on her parchment. She honestly could not imagine people seeing her in this light. Certain parts of it - one bit in particularly causing her cheeks to rise in color as she recalled a more intimate setting - but the majority of this definition was hard to stomach. Perhaps she needed to conduct a survey to test the validity of this. Hufflepuff existential crisis? Quite possibly. |
Rafael looked at the time and groaned there wasn’t enough time to go through the rest of the lesson he had planned. It was his fault, he had of course been over zealous and then got distracted by glancing at everyone’s spectacular work. ”Alright, that time has come thank you all for attending today’s lesson and please try not to prank people too much today, and I will see you all next class to go over our core-companions.” Ooc: sorry I ended up having a rather busy week/weekend and had to end class a bit early. Family emergency came up. |
