Arithmancy Lesson Two: Arithmancy & You | Cores & Companions The Arithmancy classroom is rather warm and cozy despite the rather chilly spring air outside of the castle. Professor Cararro has yet to enter the room though it is unlocked and the chalkboard has yet to be decorated with anything. The usually hidden chalk is visible sitting on the Professor’s desk unguarded and ready for anyone to use it. |
Uhh... had he gotten the incorrect time? Henry didn't think he was early or had come to class on the wrong day or anything, but as he stood in the doorway and saw not a single soul inside, he had to wonder. No teacher, no students. Weird. Perhaps he was a few minutes early though and after he paused a moment to make sure he indeed was at the right place at the right time, the fourth year walked into the classroom. Hey, beanbag chairs! That was kind of awesome, and first to arrive meant choice of seats. Um.. middle of the room? That worked. |
"Good morning Professor, how are you?" Kitty asked pleasantly as she stepped into the brightly lit and cozy classroom and made her way over to the front row on the left to sit on one of the red beanbags. She always liked this classroom. Wonder what they were going to study today? |
Arithmancy was a class that Aoife didn't particularly excel in, but more importantly, the classroom set up was SO PRETTY, and that was all that mattered. The Gryffindor strode into the classroom, books neatly under her arm and since she was pretty early, she perched herself very close to the front of the classroom. The comfy beanbags were a real winner in her eyes, although she did feel a bit sunken down. She rested her books in front of her. Books she probably wouldn't even need for Arithmancy. It was all for show. |
Kimi entered the classroom seeing that the Professor wasn't there but the chalk was unguarded he crept up to the chalk and wrote Hogwarts Rules on the board and proceeded to sit down on one of the comfy beanbags |
Arithmancy... It was one of Azura's worst subjects.. ever. Second only to Divination! She was useless at that.. her slug had just sat on her arm when she had asked about music school.. apparently she wasn't getting into any of them? *sigh* Azura slowly moved into the classroom and looked around.. huh.. no Professor.. She looked around and smiled as she saw Kitty and she waved at her prefect.. before moving into a chair next to Henry. It had been awhile since she had talked to the Hufflepuff and she smiled as she looked over at him.. "Hey, how's it going? " |
Maybe it was just because it was her last term, or maybe she was just bored enough to have continued to come to the lessons. Brooklyn wasn’t sure which, or if either one was the actual reason she had bothered to take the trip up to the second floor and to the Arithmancy classroom for another lesson. She had entered the room silently, already having noticed that the professor was nowhere to be found. It meant she didn’t have to necessarily greet anyone if she want inclined to, and for the most part there wasn’t many people there who she was. Maybe a nod toward the Ravenclaw prefect who’d encountered her earlier in the term in the portrait hall, but that was about it before she made her way to a seat somewhere near the middle of the room. She doubted the professor was going to teach them about school rules. Although the beanbag chairs oddly reminded her of some of her DADA classes way back when she started. It was interesting to think about what she’d been like as a first year. She knew she’d changed, but in some ways she imagined most people felt she hadn’t. |
Paige performed a bit of a stutter step as she entered the Arithmancy classroom. For one...the lack of professor, which almost made her pull out her class schedule to recheck things except for the fact that there were others already in attendance. The second...beanbag chairs...that was going to be awfully distracting to sit in during a lesson of a subject she already struggled with. Even if beanbag chairs did mold to one's body and such...they were just hard to move in and the Hufflepuff always struggled to get out of them. Finding a spot towards the back of the room, the seventh year set her bag down and proceeded to attempt to sit down in her beanbag chair...which ended up engulfing her as she mistimed her descent while reading what was written on the blackboard and ended up sinking into the plush material back first and legs flailing about in the air. EEEEEEEEEEEP! |
Arithmancy wasn't her FAVOURITE but sometimes it could be fun, Char found, depending who she got to sit with. The professor wasn't here yet that she could see and there were no weird instructions, so she went ahead and found a spot and made herself comfy. Right in the middle. Centre of the action. Yeaaah! |
Still, no actual chairs to sit on? Jace kept his face neutral as he entered the classroom and was not at all surprised that there was no professor waiting for them. He could be under the disillusionment charm, so Jace was careful not to touch anything that he knew was prohibited to get his hands on; Exhibit A: The unguarded chalk on the teacher's table. Jace proceeded to snag a seat right up front and center, and waved at the people already present. He hid a smile as soon as he caught sight of Paige waving her legs about, while the other seventh year who was present, Brooklyn, kept her regal disposition. Interesting lot, yes? |
Numbers. Merlin help. Needless to say her relationship with this subject had not improved over time. Unlike with Transfiguration... she only felt more confused the longer they carried on. Some of it was simple enough, in theory. Like, when only addition was required, but then they started talking about applying certain things to your life... and it was like.... Come on, her life was a mess right now. Could she not be reminded? Kthanx. Settling somewhere, in a beanbag that just screamed "too comfortable to pay attention", she took a gander around the room. Where was the professor? |
The thing about arithmancy was that both her parents were super good at it. Char was pretty sure, if she wanted to be, she could be too, it was just that...... .... it got boring quick a lot of the time. Her attention wandered a LOT of the time. She was pretty sure at this point that she would take the OWL and then bye byeeee arithmancy! She looked around and noticed Paige flailing about. .............. ................. That looked fun, actually. Except when SHE tried it nothing happened, given she'd already sunk into the middle of the bag. ... She also couldn't reach her desk so well from here. Oh well! Good excuse not to do any work! |
She had this! Natalia always walked into Arithmancy with more confidence then any other class. She loved number, she loved working with them, so she loved Arithmancy. Nothing could ever take her down in this class as long as she was working with figures she was good. Entering the room she looked around for an empty seat. Glancing at the front she realized the professor wasn't there yet, well he'd probably be here shortly. In anyway she made her way to one of the front seats and sat down. Pulling out her parchment and quill she was ready. The book came out of her bag next and she sat it all neatly in front of her. Eyes now focusing on people that were already in the room. Seeing Henry she gave him a wave and of course Paige was getting a wave as well. The rest of the class got a small smile if they had made eye contact. |
Professor Cararro wasn’t as happy or joyous as he normally would be. The exploding letter that his sister had sent him had covered the Brazilian in glitter. Glitter, it had to be glitter. The one crafting ingredient that NEVER came off once applied…well, unless it wanted to. OOC: class is starting however please feel free to post and join in – just pretend you were here all along! We will be moving on in approx. 12-hours.[/color] |
Azura's hand went into the air almost immediately at the Professors question because even now.. she still didn't feel like that life number fit her.. "I don't feel like it fits me at all Professor, I got 4.. Mercury. Which means stability..and endurance.." She frowned a bit.. "My life has been anything but stable..in fact it just seems sort of.. boring.. like I'm the stable calm one.. I feel like 3, which is Jupiter would have fit me better. I have creativity.. and talent I guess you could say.. " She put her hand down and sighed.. she hated her life path number! Why couldn't she have gotten the moon? |
Oh they were starting! ... OH THERE WAS GLITTER! Cool! Did Liv see that? Glitter!!!! Oh there was a question. Umm..... Char put her hand up and admitted, "I've forgotten what my numbers are, so I don't know if they fit me or not, professor!" |
"Konnichiwa, sensei." Sparkly professor. Jace instinctively leaned back on his bean bag, and gave the professor a good look. Glitters are okay, just...not on his skin and clothing. So far, he'd been very careful about pranks prior to April Fool's because...well, he'd learned a lot from his past, all thanks to his older brother, Jakub. He'd been merciless with these things claiming that he couldn't afford a post birthday gift, so a good prank would do. Talk about being decent. Older brothers. M e r l i n. It took Jace a moment to consider the question being asked, and apparently, they are not over with this Vibrational Life Path Number thing. Is it...really relevant to him? Jace raised his hand and offered his answer,"It doesn't fit me, professor...however, I am willing to wait it out and see if it's relevant to me or not." It won't hurt to believe in his Vibration Number or not. Could be handy in the near future. |
Hadn't she read a muggle book once about glittering guys? She eyed the Professor a moment wondering if he was acting out said book before realizing even what day it was. April fools? Was it really April first? She looked at her notes and couldn't even believe she had missed this. "Wow Professor, I hope you are thinking of something to get her back." She'd at least be thinking of a few things to do. Maybe she could do something fun on the band later. The first question pulled her from her thoughts and Nat thought this over before raising her hand. "No professor I don't feel my numbers match me very well. It was a six and as much a I think it is an honorable thing to have said about me, a born counselor seems very far from anything I am." A born mess maybe, but counselor to help other people with their problems not so much. |
Oh. My. GAWD! "Professor Cararro..... What lovely glitter you have! Are you interested in sharing, good sir??" Like.... Olivia was willing to take some of that off his hands, for sure. Mhm. OH! Actually, she had some glitter in her bag for just such an occasion. Could she douse herself?? Could this be a new tradition in Arithmancy?? It was CERTAINLY inspire the blonde to be more excited for numbers... Also, she tilted her head at Princess Azula. "I had a five, which was representative of Jupiter." Remember? The raven haired girl had sat with #TeamJupiter, because she'd been the only one to have her own personal number. "I remember being super confused, because I'm not a huge believer in numbers reflecting personality or personal choices." |
Kitty raised her hand. "Unfortunately I think I calculated wrongly in our lesson before Christmas so I'm not entirely certain what my number was. I think it was a three or a four, both are good numbers." But there was something she needed to say about all this. "Professor, I don't really believe that a person's number always describes who she or he is. Aren't we allowed to be who we want to be, and not be controlled by life path and vibration numbers?" She paused, hand still in air. "Just my opinion, not trying to argue or anything." |

For whatever reason, the seventh year was completely unfazed by the glitter - hadn't there been incidents of glitter bombs with professors in the past or something of that sort? She had heard or read gossip about that somewhere... Paige was already mentally preparing herself for whatever calculations were about to be thrown their way...when that question was brought up instead and she opted to remain silent for now. She had stewed long and hard over her number back then and, well, it had not seemed fitting to her at all at the time. Still did not really...although in light of graduation looming and that her personal journey was taking new turns now - even a whole new motivation soon given her elected major at university - perhaps it WAS more fitting than she had initially thought? She had been more concerned with the astrology aspect of things to be entirely honest... The Hufflepuff had been so lost in her own reflection that she...er...sort of missed what it was they were supposed to be doing exactly. Calculations today? Fudgesticks...what calculations were they supposed to be doing?! Reflecting more? She could...do that...yes. Flipping through her notes, Paige found her parchment from the lesson in question and gave it a look over. Quote:

Of course, the seventh year was still inclined towards astrology for this sort of affair. |
Oh. Apparently the professor didn't care that she didn't know her numbers. And now... what? ? How was she supposed to say if she thought it fit or not when she'd just said that she didn't know if it fit cos she couldn't remember it? So what was she supposed to write down? Char tried to keep the confusion from her face. She couldn't answer the last question either. How was she supposed to know how stuff tied together if she didn't know what it was? Awkward. Was she supposed to know? Probably her parents had explained it at some point but.... well...it was just so HARD to keep that stuff in her head when there were so many other things to think about! Oh gosh. She was gonna fail this class so bad, and there wasn't enough glitter in the world to make it otherwise. She squished herself deeper into the beanbag and remained uncertainly silent. |
Well then.... Not only had he ignored her when she asked him if he was planning on doing a prank as well, but he now just said that Kitty had a comment. Hello hand raised, was called on, told him hers DID NOT! Well teachers pet much? Anyway she was back to her happy place with her eyes on her book and her hand already moving with her quill to just do calculations that she wanted to do since obviously this class was going to just be a review again on what they had been doing. Her number was 6 she didn't need to fully write it all down. She had done it enough so she just wrote six as they were to redo their life path yet again. So now she would just wait until it was time for the next step. |
Jace stared up ahead, feeling the gears in his brain falter for a moment. They were in Arithmancy class right? What is up with all this glitter talk anyway? That seemed to be the center of discussion now, and Jace wasn’t too excited about it. The Ravenclaw did an inward sigh as he got his old notes out and copied his answer from their last discussion. There was no point sharing the same thing again when he already said his opinion for everyone to hear. SPOILER!!: Parchment And for the next question, Jace raised his hand as soon as he was done writing his notes, “While the Life Path Number foretells the path we’re about to take...I assume the Destiny Numbers will tell the purpose of our existence.” That’s why they call it destiny, right? Now that is more promising...and scarier at the same time. |
