One area of the owlery is roped off for those people caring for and visiting their owls (or the school owls, if you don't have your own). An open bag of Owl Treats sits near a perch, as well as some talon clippers and a few bowls of water.
Making his way up he grabbed a large handful of owl treats before going over to the owls to overfeed them, heh, food was good!
Going over to one snowy owl he put a treat in his hand and offered it to the bird. Once the owl took it he offered another, and another and another till the bird stopped eating and he moved onto the next one. EAT YOU BIRDS, EAT!!!!
Kat was bored, very bored. So what did she do when she was bored one walk around outside look for new plants and flowers or two come up and talk to the owls, okay not really the the second option but yeah today it sounded good.
Heading into where the owls where, the second year noticed that she wasn't alone. "Hi, is that your owl?" Maybe it was, maybe it was not. But Kat was going to be nice and talk to the guy.

Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
It was that time of Month again. Torrance was headed up to the Owlery to begin writing his Monthly letter to his Father. He had a load of thing to fill him on once again. First things first before doing so, he wanted to check up on Spitfire. So how his tiny little owl was holding up. Once he entered the open area he searched around the rafters and perches until he pinpointed possibly one of the smallest Owls here. "Spitfire." He called out to him and the small Elf Owl swooped in the closest perch to him. Torrance offered his Owl some pellets. "I've got a long letter today to write. I promise it won't be heavy." Torrance had specifically picked Spitfire, because all he wanted was an owl that carried letters. He wasn't ever going to need a large owl to send big packages. If he was going to get a package. He was sure his Aunts and Uncles would use the Owl Post.

Uhhhhmmm... he blinked and looked over at the voice as he offered a handful of treats to another owl. "Uhmmmmm.... nope." Not at all. He didn't even Own an owl! More treats were being forced to the little owls as he kept on stuffing his hands in his pockets and pulling out treats on treats on treats.
"I don't own an owl." he said it very matter of factly. "I do have a toad though....... somewhere." where WAS that toad of his. Now that the redhead was thinking of it he hadn't seen it in a few days. "you haven't seen a lost toad have you?"

Juno decided to go visit her owl, and possibly draw something in the owlery for the owls to enjoy. She looked around until she finally saw her sweet owl Aster. She greeted Juno with a happy little hoot. The snowy owl was Juno's most favorite animal. She loved this sweet bird so much. She grabbed a treat from one of the bowls around the area and gave one to Aster. "There you go, my sweet girl. I've missed you." She gave her a good rub on the neck, and Aster gave her some love nibbles back.
Grinning, Juno said, "Now, I have to do some classwork in here. We are allowed to do this so don't worry or get upset." She gave the owl another little pat on the head before pulling out her wand. She found a clean surface on the wall and started picturing in her mind the color and object that she wanted to paint. She pointed her wand at the wall and said, "Figura Owl!" and immediately her wand began to trace the outline of an owl with black. She smiled. It was turning out lovely. It even made lines to indicate where the wings, beak, and eyes were.
She concentrated really hard a second time thinking about the color she wanted the owl to be. With that she put her wand in the center of the owl and said, "Colovaria!" Her owl immediately turned white, the outlines remaining black. It was perfect. Juno smiled hugely. Now there was one more thing she wanted to do before she left.
She pointed her wand at the drawing again, and tracing the outline of her owl said, "Animatae!" The owl burst to life on the wall and started flying all over the place. It was brilliant! Juno bounced with excitement. She couldn't believe how well it had turned out!
She turned back to Aster, giving her another treat for behaving so well, and walked back down the Owlery steps. She had one more place to go and her classwork would be done!

Ever since her encounter with the hundreds of owls in Hogsmeade with Echo, Kay remained even more fascinated with the creatures. She certainly had no use of them for sending letters as the two closest persons she communicated with- her dad and Kennedy- used emails. Kay simply wanted to be in the company of the feather dusters hooters.
Possibly she would even meet a few of the mini ones. Those happened to be her favourite ones. Reaching the owlery, the Muggle Studies woman peeked in. Even before she took a look, she guessed there were a lot of them in there. Good thing too for the weather was oh, so cold.
Stepping in, however, Kay was greeted by a tad warmth. It was enough to remove her gloved hands which had been hiding in her pockets. Now where were the mini owls?

"WASABI GET OVER HERE NOW!!" Dora Umbeidge shouted toward a horned owl. RUDE LITTLE OWL!! AS she yelled screeched several owls took to flight, feathers falling... and perhaps some droppings as well. IT WAS NOT OKAY THAT HER OWL WAS BEING A POO, THOUGH!!
After a few moments of standing, GLARING, and stomping, Dora huffed and turned to stomp away... but then she spotted the Professor that had SNUCK in when she was unawares. Poo. Again. And not the literal kind, please.
"Can you make my owl bring my coin pouch back, please?" Older lady could do it, right? And WHAT did she teach? Clearly Dora was not taking her class seriously if she was unable to place her... Oh well.

Kay did notice Dora but she seemed too occupied so the woman decided to say hello later on. Instead, she focused her attention on the cute and feathery mini owl she had located a second after. She was trying to coax it down with soft and gentle words but it remained in it's perch as stubborn as ever. It even fixed her with a rather stern glare.
Then that happened. That shouting from Dora Umbridge that made Kay jump and possibly a few owls get startled. "Ms Umbridge! That's no way to be talking to an owl.'' She didn't think that any creatures deserved to be shouted at but then again, it had apparently stolen Dora's coin pouch. "Is it his... or her habit to snatch your belongings?''
"Of course. Shall we try Summoning the pouch?'' She waited for the girl's sign of approval. It wasn't Kay's owl after all.

Um. No.
Dora did not approve of that tone of voice. Nope, nope, nope. She was not in the mood to be chided by a professor while she was CLEARLY in a crisis situation. C R I S I S. And she was certain that the owls had been startled before... it was not the end of the world. Chill Proffy. Chill.
Says the girl with no chill.
"She is just being stubborn and RUDE because I told her she had to sleep in the owlery tonight. So she stole my pouch and flew way up there." Cue a frustrated huff from the small blonde. Like could she have ONE normal pet in her life? Seriously.
Summoning.
Hahaha. Why hadn't Dora thought of that? Oh right. Because she on a strop about the whole ordeal. The sassy Gryffindor then held out her hand in like a PAUSE sort of motion as she pulled her wand with her other hand. Of course. She had her own wand and was PERFECTLY capable of a simple summoning charm. Mhm.
"Accio coin pouch!" she said clearly as she moved her wand accordingly.

Kay listened with interest to Dora's explanation, her interest in mini owl momentarily vanishing. Really, now? She was somewhat amused. "Such a cheeky owl,'' she remarked. "Never mind, Ms Umbridge. We'll get that coin purse back.'' She would help in anyway she could. "Do you have an owl treat? It could help to pacify her.'' If not, Kay had a few she had brought along.
The Muggle Studies professor smiled when Dora got her wand. "Go on! Take a deep breath and then try the charm.'' The advice came because the woman could see how worked up the girl was. Nothing could be accomplished when the mind was in turmoil. She watched as the spell was cast. Fingers crossed for the purse to zoom for Dora!

Dora watched as the coin purse made a visible jerk in her owls beak. OH NO YOU DON'T WASABI II!! Taking a deep breath, Dora gave her wand another wave and clearly spoke the spell again.
HA!
Dora watched this time as the pouch came zipping to her. The blonde caught the pouch and stuck her tongue out at the owl this time. "Wasabi, you can't best me! Now do you want to come down from there and stop being so rude!?" And now she turned to look at the Professor and smile. A rather smug smile at that. Seeeeee, she could do magic. And honestly, she was pretty good at it too.

A failure the first time around but success on the next attempt! Kay may not have taught Dora Charms but she was rather proud of her. Yes, she also did notice the smug smile but she just smiled back as she usually would. "Very well done, Ms Umbridge. Professor Primeaux would rather have liked your spell work.''
Her eyes found Wasabi again and she moved closer to the owl's perch. In a gentle voice, Kay called up to it. "Wasabi? Won't you come down? Look, I've got a few treats for you.'' Out of her pocket came treats she had brought along.

Now that Fiyero had created his pet rock, he thought it would be a good idea to introduce Gastone to his owl, Dash. The moment he entered the owlery, the feisty little elf owl dive-bombed him, which was her way of saying hello. "Hi, Dash," he said, laughing as the owl hooted and flapped her wings excitedly. "I'm glad to see you, too!"
He suddenly remembered why he was there. "Check it out, I've brought a new friend for you," he said, pulling Gastone out of his pocket. Dash stared at the rock for all of five seconds before going into a frenzy, flapping and squawking. She swooped down at Gastone, pecking him with all her might, and all Fiyero could do was stare dumbly. Wow, that was definitely not the reaction he'd expected! Was Dash jealous of Gastone?
"Dash, leave him alone!" he cried frantically. Of course, she couldn't really hurt Gastone, but somehow he doubted Professor Flamsteed would give him extra credit if he let his pet rock get attacked by an owl. Dash bit his finger hard as he pulled Gastone out of her reach. "Ow! What was that for?!" Dash hooted apologetically, but Fiyero was still angry at her. "I think somebody needs a time-out," he said, shooting Dash a sideways glance as he scooped up his pet rock. "Come on, Gastone!"

Only it kind of wasn't. Not really. How was she supposed to tell Zeke that they wouldn't be going to California after all this summer? Or like, ever. Ugh. Why was she even here now? Did she really think her mother could help with this somehow? She'd probably just laugh at her for even writing to her grandparents about this. Maybe she shouldn't forward the letter to her mom after all. It was a duplicate she was holding, naturally, the original was safely back in her dorm. She'd added a second piece of parchment of her own writing too.

Now.......to send this or not to send this?
Also where was Zeke's owl?
The owl had arrived a week ago. The letter, signed by a classmate that was not a friend, but wasn't wholly untrustworthy either, had been a slap in Nicky's face. She'd taken a few days to consider its contents. To compare the evidence presented with what she could glean from other letters she'd received.
And so she'd decided to respond.
The bright red envelope of a howler in hand, Nicky had climbed up to the owlery in search of a bird that would carry her reply on the first leg of it's journey back to Brazil, where it would scream and demand answers from the girl who was supposed to be Nicky's best friend... practically her sister.
She did not notice the Slytherin as she looked for a suitable, borrowable school owl. Lips set in a frown and eyes narrowed, Nicky scanned her options.
She needed a fast bird.

Turning the letter over and over in her hands, Maggie looked around at all the owls in search for Zeke's. Usually she wouldn't have come here herself, the owls grossed her out. But she also didn't really trust anyone with personal letters such as this one. Apart from her friends of course but then again she wouldn't use them to send her letters for her.
THEY weren't her servants.
Maggie heard the other girl's steps before seeing her so she had enough time to move closer towards one of the walls in case it was anyone she didn't want seeing her in the owlery. And she appeared to have been partly right. Nicole. Great. Just great. Her hand had instinctively twitched a little, inching closer to where her wand was. Just in case. You had to be prepared with crazy people such as Nicole.
After a few seconds of just watching her, Maggie decided that it must have looked quite pathetic to be hiding - which she WASN'T of course - from the other girl. So with a casual clearing of her throat, she stepped forward again, eyes on the owls. She was simply going to ignore Nicole. Yep. Good plan.

Now, where was that owl?
She'd never have noticed her, focused as she was on feeling absolutely betrayed, if not for that throat clearing. She turned and spotted the girl move away from the wall. Had she... hidden?
Nicky was too annoyed to be amused.
The only thought she spared was a hope that Maggie'd gotten close enough to that wall to end up with owl droppings in her hair. She did, however, shift her robes for more easy access to her wand, in case someone still held sour grapes about her inferior performance.
Selecting an owl, Nicky coaxed it down from it's perch with a treat before presenting it with the howler. She scritched the head of the bird and whispered softly to it.
Nicky spared a glance in the other girl's direction, wondering what, if anything, she might do.

Nope, no owl droppings in her beautiful and perfect hair.
Sorry not sorry, Nicole.
Trying hard to make sure Nicole didn't actually see her watching her, Maggie casually glanced at the other girl. Was that a howler? Oh, interesting. She briefly wondered who it was for. Maybe she should do that. Send a howler. To her dad maybe. Honestly, by now she was pretty much done with him. So done. This was....just not fair and he wasn't worth the time she'd spent being upset over this. Ugh. Okay. Yes.
Only no. Because what if-
Okay, she should probably stop staring at that red letter.
Her eyes briefly met Nicole's gaze as she looked back up. Maggie made a point of keeping a disinterested look on her face as she once again scanned the area for Zeke's owl. Seriously, she did NOT want to use one of the school owls. She didn't trust them. And they were gross. No way was she touching them.

Ok, but you know that feeling when someone is looking at you and you can't see them but you just know that their eyes are boring into some part of you? That feeling was creepy-crawling all over Nicky's skin right now as Maggie stared at the red letter.
When she lifted her eyes and caught Maggie's, Nicky's eyes instantly narrowed, even as her fingers continued to caress the owl's feathers before she sent him off. "Did you need something?" she inquired, not hiding any of the disdain in her voice, even as Maggie looked away to consider owls again.
Merlin help you, Magdalena, if you step to us in this moment. It's a long fall from the window.

"Not from you I don't." Maggie replied all nonchalantly, even adding a shrug for good measure. Ah, there it was! Finally. It had apparently been out to hunt or something. Honestly, she didn't really care. Stepping a little closer to where Zeke's owl was Maggie held up a treat to encourage it to come down to where she was.
All the while she kept glancing at Nicole, just in case the girl was up to something.
"What could I possibly need from you?" It was clearly a rhetorical question. Finally Zeke's owl hopped down to where Maggie could reach it. Well done. Lightly running her fingers over the owl's feathers, she hesitated briefly. Was she really going to bother her mom with this?

Nicky knew better than to expect any worthwhile response, and the one she got was simply tepid. Oooo, sick burn.. 'not from you, I don't.' Well, goodness, Nicky was just going to go straight to the healer's for some cream.
"Then stop staring like you belong in the spell-damage ward," she snapped back, moving toward the door. Her eyes dipped to the letter Maggie was about to send. "Or are you reserving your spot there for the summer?"
By this point, her hand was just hovering at where her wand was tucked, seeing as she didn't put it past the Slytherin to try to cast on her.

A SPELL-DAMAGE WARD????
Maggie had looked up from her letter just in time to see Nicole looking down at it. And somehow she felt very exposed all of a sudden. Which was why she glared at the other girl and quickly tied it to Zeke's owl's leg (she should REALLY learn the creature's name some day).
"No, but if I ever need help with it I'll be sure to ask you for your expertise." She smirked at Nicole before sending the owl off. There, at least that was done.
