| | Transfiguration Lesson #1; Don't Bug Out Welcome to Transfiguration Nana Ichihara's classroom is as immaculate as ever. Every chair in place, every desk polished to shine, there is - as usual - not even a speck of dirt on her floor. However, as you enter you will notice a difference in the atmosphere of the room. A heady warmth that is reminiscent of a humid summer's day fills the well-lit space.
Professor Ichihara sits behind her desk, hands folded neatly in her lap. Her complexion unnaturally dewy thanks to the heat, however, it is a small price to pay for their assembled 'guests' this lesson. You will notice (if you are of the variety of student that notices) a series of glass tanks on the right hand side of the room, each tank is filled with various flora, some water and rocks, but no visible sign of life.
Please take your seat (and try not to doze off even if it is rather early). Class will begin shortly.
Greetings and an Unusual Challenge. Questions, Critters and Live Transfigurations. Getting to Know Your Creature: Mini Activity! OOC: Class has begun! If you want to join in, please do. Simply have your student behave as if they have been in class since the beginning.
If you do decide to have them turn up "late" there will be IC consequences.
Please read and familiarize yourself with Ichihara's Rules and kindly remember that all Snitchseeker Rules and Regulations Still Apply. |

| Post 2 - Baron Caterpillar ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# That out of the way, it was time for Esme to start trying out the spell and see if she could turn Jasmine into a banana leaf. A key part of getting that to work was clearing her mind of everything besides what she wanted to accomplish - something that had been drilled into her head since First Year. Transfiguration was NOT easy by any stretch of the imagination and she didn't exactly have a lot of experience with turning animals into things like leaves; honestly she wasn't sure how well this would go. That fact was not going to deter her, however. Practice makes perfect and she would keep at it until the desired result had been achieved. The last thing that was needed right now was a lack of confidence.
After taking a few deep breaths she was ready to set about clearing her mind.
Looking down at her little caterpillar, Esme payed close attention to her form. She made note of Jasmine's texture and the way that she moved across the desk using her many legs. That picture in her head, she imagined exactly what a banana leaf was supposed to look like. She had seen them before, so she knew that they were rather big with a smooth shape that was wider at the stem and tapered off at the other end.
Jasmine WAS the banana leaf in her mind's eye. |

So Harriet was feeling a little disappointed. She hadn't managed to get her caterpillar to change into the banana leaf yet. She frowned a little, poking at the table. She knew that she wasn't going to be able to do everything first time, but she really wanted to be able to do this. The girl sighed, putting her caterpillar back into the middle of the desk. It just didn't want to turn into a banana leaf at all. "Don't you wanna be a banana leaf?" She murmured to her caterpillar. She just wanted to be good. She knew it was silly to want to be good at everything, but she just wanted to make her dad proud. She had to try and outshine Grace and Frankie so they'd notice her. But maybe it wasn't supposed to be in transfiguration.
She sighed, figuring that she should probably do some more practicing. That would make her perfect right. She sighed, picking her wand up. She could do this. Sure she was feeling sad, but that didn't mean that she couldn't do it. She totally could. She just needed to be more confident.
Smiling, or at least trying too, she waved her wand over her caterpillar, making sure it was in the right direction, and then she said the words "Follio-Musa" To be honest, she wasn't surprised when nothing happened. She pouted a little. She was a still disappointed, but she was determined too. She would do this. She just needed to practice lots. She could do it. She knew she could.
And if she couldn't. She just needed to practice more.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Lola A. Second Year | Caterpillar 1 Mischievous Niffler Kitty put her hand at the edge of the desk just as her caterpillar was reaching the end. It bumped into her hand and turned around to begin heading the other direction. Okay good. She had never transfigured a living thing before in her life, so this should be interesting. Normally she might be worried of having an accident, but the professor was here to reverse anything she might do, and she was extra determined to be careful. "Don't worry Miles, this will only take a few moments and it's not going to hurt at all."
She then took her wand out and began making a right swish over Miles. "FO-LEO MOOSA! Oops sorry, it's not "moosa" it's MUSE-A." She tried again. "FO-LEO MUSE-A! FO-LEO MUSE-A!" So far nothing. |

| 1: Spiny Leaf Bug (might make another with a different bug if there's time) Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch After retracting his finger and remaining quite still, Peanut began to relax and move around again. The creature moved slowly though, still quite cautious about being touched again. Frankie had no intention of brushing his finger along the extatosoma tiaratum again. He had only done so out of curiosity to see what would happen. He wasn't disappointed to say the least.
While the stick bug crawled up his arm, the prefect took a moment to look after at Hady. Obviously he knew that she wasn't going to be bringing back an eight-legged friend, though he was a little surprised to see a caterpillar inching up her arm. Wasn't that one of the easier animals to work with? Had the tarantula freaked her out that much? Hmm.
He watched her examine her selection for a moment before returning his attention back to Peanut, who had stealthily made it to his shoulder and was making a move for his face. Nope. Not happening, little gal. Frankie moved a hand near the creature and waited what seemed like forever for it to climb on before placing it onto the desk.
The voice of Ichihara grasped his attention when she was ready to move on. His eyes flickered over to her as she demanded everyone's attention and tapped the chalkboard. She kept on talking, and the Gryffindor was now only half-paying attention to her. He was too busy reading what had appeared on the board. Spiny Leaf Bug to Dead Leaf. Frankie looked down at the bug, slightly disappointed. He was going to be transforming Peanut into a mere leaf? A dead one at that? What a bummer. And here he thought he was going to be ending up with an origami swan or something totally cool. Dead leaves were not cool. They were boring.
But he'd play along. The blond looked up again as the professor was now speaking about treating their subjects with respect, being calm, and clearly envisioning the transformation while doing the spell work. He nodded, his eyes looking back to the board for the incantation and wand movement. Follio-Anmortum. A decisive left swish over the subject. Got it.
Before beginning, he shifted the mandrake leaf in his mouth so he'd be able to talk. It was doable when he tucked it between his cheek and gums, and only if not much had to be said. Frankie recited the incantation to himself a few times, without a wand, just to make sure the leaf wouldn't go flying across the room when he was actually performing the spell. "FO-Leo An-MORE-tum. FO-Leo An-MORE-tum. FO-Leo An-MORE-tum."
With no mandrake leaf accidentally being spat at someone and the pronunciation of the spell down, the sixth year then took out his wand. He practiced the movement, decisively swishing his wand to the left over Peanut. That was simple enough. Now it was time to move on to the more challenging work.
The wand still in his hand, he stared down at Peanut, taking in her features once again. The light brown colour, her rounded body parts and spikes, her length, everything was accounted for. Mentally, he pictured that little bug transforming and bending until her body had been flattened out, delicate as ever, with small veins and even a stem. The only thing that didn't change in his mind was the colour.
Deciding he was ready for making the transformation, Frankie raised his wand and swished his wand to the left as he said, "Follio-Anmortum!" Nothing happened. The mandrake leaf in his mouth had shifted slightly, which had broken his concentration on Peanut and the dead leaf she was meant to be. The prefect tried again. Failure, though he could have sworn he saw one of her legs rise as if it were about to flatten out. The wand movement needed to be more decisive this time.
Sighing, the boy sat there. He was starting to get frustrated, which he knew was going to make being successful with the spell rather difficult. He needed to clear his mind and just envision the extatosoma tiaratum as a dead leaf. For the next minute or so, that is what the Gryffindor did before making another attempt.
"Follio-Anmortum!"
The third time was the charm. Just as he had envisioned it, he watched Peanut go from her original state of being to that of a dead leaf. Upon closer examination, he realized that a the upper portion dead leaf had a couple of small spikes on it. He wasn't disappointed by this though. Peanut was a dead leaf. Success!

Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Baron caterpillar (post 3) Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Fiyero wasn't really surprised when this first try didn't work, but he couldn't help but feel a little frustrated. He nervously peered around his book wall to see if Professor Ichihara saw him do it wrong, but it didn't look like she did. He slumped down a little farther behind his books. He was sure he was saying the spell right, so the problem must be with his concentration.
He looked down, focusing intently on the caterpillar in front of him. He imagined Elphaba's many legs disappearing and her little green body becoming flatter and wider... until she'd fully transformed into a banana leaf. The whole process sounded pretty painful, honestly. He wasn't sure he wanted to subject his little bug friend to that!
Fiyero pointed his wand at the caterpillar with a decisive swish. "Follio musa!" When he looked down again. he saw what looked like a leaf with legs skittering across his desk. Well, he was making progress... at least he'd managed an incomplete transformation that time. But somehow he didn't think Elphaba was too pleased about it. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Elphaba!" he said. "Don't worry, I'll change you back... Reverto!" Elphaba was a caterpillar once again, thank goodness! At least he was able to get one spell right today!
Elphaba was crawling across Fiyero's desk as fast as her many tiny legs would carry her, but his open transfiguration book kept her from going over the edge. So he'd found another use for his book wall; not only did it keep spells out but it kept bugs in. Not that he could blame her for running away, of course. He wouldn't want to be turned into a leaf either! "It's okay, Elphaba," he said, gently picking up the caterpillar and setting her in the middle of the desk. "Just one more try, and if I don't get it right this time, I promise I'll put you back and try it with a different bug."
He raised his wand to try the spell one last time. Please let me get it right, he thought as he pointed his wand at the caterpillar. He didn't even want to know how Professor Ichihara would react to him switching bugs without mastering the spell! Once again, he visualized Elphaba transforming into a flat, veiny banana leaf. "Follio musa!" he cried, giving his wand a decisive swish. Had it worked? Did he do it that time?
Fiyero glanced down at his desk, but this time Elphaba was gone. In her place was a little green leaf. He finally turned her into a leaf, but was it a banana leaf? He assumed so; besides, this was probably the closest he was going to get. Feeling a bit more confident, he took down the wall of books around his desk. He'd done the spell successfully, so there was no reason for Professor Ichihara to punish him now, right?

| Spindly Leaf #2 Dalliesa | Ab-Bot | Hogwarts Trojan War | Follio-Anmortum... Follio-Anmortum. OKay, okay, she got it! "Follio-Anmortum!" Genny stressed out loud before looking down at her parchment cage. Which was empty. Visibly and absolutely empty. "Bug??" She shrieked in a whisper level, "Dear Merlin's beard, bug???" Genny's heart sank to her ankles as she crouched down on the floor and started crawling and looking for the stupid little bug. "Where are you???" She moved slowly as not to squish the little thing with her knees or hands, she swatted at her classmates' ankles too in case they stomped on her assignment subject.
The floors were, to the professor's benefit, clean and nice but the heat made Genny's hair stick to her face as she moved around in a determined pattern. What would the professor do if the bug was forever lost? Hang her from the ankles? Turn her into a bug herself to live her life thinking about what she's done? Have her clean the castle's walls? INSIDE AND OUT? As Genny's train of unreasonable thoughts crossed her mind, her neck itched and she kept scratching and swatting at it. She was so gonna cut her hair after today's lesson, no matter what her mom would say. She was thirteen and a woman now!
Something fell on the floor right there between her knees before she made the next move... "Oh!" It was the bug, on its back with the limbs upwards. Genny couldn't tell if it was hers or not but hey! Nobody lost a bug except for her so... "Hi! Where have you been, darn it!" She scooped it up with her hand and jumped to her feet. Quickly, before the professor would notice (pft), she returned to her desk.
"Is it because you don't want me to use the spell on you?" The bug was back into the circular jail. "DOn't worry, I'm a good witch, you'll see." Pause. Wand suspended over the bug. "Follio-Anmortum." With the right swish, too.
Nothing.
"Follio-Anmortum." Left decisive swish. Nothing. "Follio-Anmortum." Genny was so focused, beads of sweat came down her temples, and the bug swirled in its spot and changed forms as intended. "Ee!" SEE?? She was a good witch! |

Hattie was still feeling really disappointed. Why could she not do this? It was supposed to be simple right? She had picked the most simple animal, and she still couldn't do it! It made her sad. But she did know that she was a first year, and it was obvious that she wouldn't be able to do everything first time. It just made her a little sad. She wanted to be good. She wanted to be good at everything. Whilst Hattie knew that wasn't really realistic, it didn't stop her from wanting to be really good at everything. Maybe Transfiguration was supposed to be the thing that she wasn't very good at. That didn't mean that she wasn't going to try her best. Hattie was determined to be good at Transfiguration, or at least get this correct.
The girl forced a smile onto her face, and moved the caterpillar back into the middle of the table. "Stop moving..." She moaned, tapping her wand on the desk a little. The thing moving around was not helping with her mood at all. She pouted, practicing the wand movement a little. Maybe she wasn't doing the wand movement correctly.
But she was ready to try it again. Concentrating, she swished her wand over her caterpillar, going in the right direction, whilst saying the words "Follio musa" She had closed her eyes, hoping that maybe it would work this time. She opened them slowly, and then sighed. Nothing. At all.
"Come onnn" She blonde moaned, shaking her head. Was it really meant to be this hard? She pouted, and then decided to have another try. Concentrating hard, she swished her wand over the caterpillar, whilst saying the incantation again. "eeep!" She murmured doing a little dance. It had worked!
Whilst the caterpillar hadn't necessarily turned into a whole banana leaf, it had changed a little bit. It looked more like a leaf, and wasn't moving as much. "I did it... Kind of..." She murmured with a big smile. Sure it wasn't the whole transformation that she had been hoping for, but it was something, that was what made Hattie happy. For now anyway.

| Tarantula (1 for now) Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger Prickly pear, huh? Nicky shifted to look at the board, Masuru still on her shoulder. Hm. She placed her hand nearby again, urging the creature to return to her arm. She figured she could it, as she took note of the incantation and wand movement.
But why would she turn such a beautiful little beastie into that when she could just sit with it some more? Taking Ichihara's encouragement to continue to get to know their subjects as permission, Nicky shifted in her seat before standing and rearranging herself. Sitting on the desk itself, she propped her feat up on the back of the chair and set the spider in her lap. Stroking it's body, Nicky smiled as it crawled over her legs. "What do you think about just coming home with me," she said, with a bit of a chuckle. "You wanna be back in Brazil too, I can tell. Neither of us belongs here, do we."
No big deal. Just bonding.

And there was Steve again! "Stevveeeee." Azura picked up the spider and gently nuzzled her face into his fuzzy body.. "How was that Steve? Did you feel Prickly Pear-ish? I'm going to try again all right? Just because the color didn't seem right, it wasn't anything you did Steve.." She whispered reassuringly to the Spider as she gently nuzzled him and then put him back down on the desk.. "Okay Steve, one more time." She said as she closed her eyes and tried to picture Steve turning into a light green Prickly Pear..
She gently tapped his body once more with her wand and then said 'Thistilaz!"
And once again Steve seemed to smooth out and his legs disapepeared, small spines appeared and HEY! It turned light green like it was supposed to!! "We did it Steve!!" She said with a soft shriek down at the fruit that had been her spider.. He could still hear her.. Yeah? |

| Post 2 Spindly Leaf Bug Ability is nothing without Opportunity | | Creativity is Intelligence having FUN He repeated the spell a few more times, sometimes getting it so perfect-- but then forgetting to do the super simple wandstroke, in other times he just completely washes out. He leans back, tired and a bit dejected into his seat and looked at the leafy bug, now looking at him and seemingly questioning his demeanor "Got a bit tired Scorpion Queen.......this stuff aint easy, and I cant really get this wrongly because...." because you could end up dead or mutilated. Yeah no he's not gonna say that out loud lest his bug starts crawling away.
He looked around the classroom, some are having no better luck than he was, others are progressing quite well. He looked at his wand. Now is the time that it just do its thing correctly because his mouth aint helping much. He wants to turn his bug into the proper dead leaf. That’s what he WANTS. That is his INTENTION. Ya get that wand?
So here he goes with another attempt "Fo-leo An-more-tum....Follio-anmortum......Follio-anmortum." swish left with the wand--
-- and the tip of his wand started to churn out the spell into the air.
Tenacius suddenly sat up straighter, alerted by the seeming success of his spell casting. Even Scorpion Queen noticed it. Noticed it so much that she started to crawl slightly farther from him now. Yeah her transformation is drawing nearer. "No wait... Scorpy stop." he blocked her path with his arm. Should he do it now? Maybe one more test run eh? He made another left swish with his wand while uttering the spell "Follio-anmortum!" Again the air quivered at the end of his wand. The spell is happening. Now to see if it has any effect on his little Bug Queen. "Alright Scorpy, here we go. Just relax.... Follio-anmortum!" he swished his wand decidedly towards the left.
.....and his Spindly Leaf bug stood still. Huh.
He peered lower. Did it have any effect? He can still see her bug eyes, and she already looked leafy. Was this it? Did he succeed? Is this how a dead leaf is supposed to look like? Because he wasn’t thoroughly convinced. "Sorry Scorpy, one more...." oh boy his little bug Queen must be so annoyed now "Follio-anmortum!" he said, swishing his wand towards the left, fully intending, fully willing the Spindly Bug to be as dead leafy as a dead leaf is supposed to be--
-- and suddenly his frozen bug sparkled and flattened and swirled in place, looking very much like a run of the mill dead leaf from a tree.
Hobbling Hinkypunks it worked!
He fist pumped in joy. But almost immediately after he got so sad. So very sad indeed. "Scorpion Queen?" he poked the dead leaf with his finger, partly expecting it to still move or flip or something. But nothing, it stayed perfectly still, absolutely silent. His pretty, leafy, nutty Scorpion Queen now looks like any old fallen leaf around Hogwarts Grounds. Successful transforming something so naturally remarkable into something so mundane didn’t feel as good as he thought it would. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Andromeda Renzler-Denaker Gryffindor First Year | Post 3 - tarantula Fluttery Pegasi While she did successfully transfigure Adam into a prickly pear--Thank goodness! She didn't want to hurt Adam with a partial transfiguration--it probably wasn't meant to be shiny and black. Nor was it probably supposed to have little ridges running up and down the sides, 8 total. The ridges were what became of Adam's legs. "Reverto!" In seconds the prickly pear was her eight-legged friend again, seemingly unphased by the fact he had just been a pear. Hadley gave him a few reassuring pets just to be sure. "Okay Adam, ready to try again?"
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, picturing again what she imagined a prickly pear to be. This time however she focused a bit more heavily on the color, and the smoothness of the pear's skin between the needles. She did more than just picture it, she tried to feel it, to forge a connection with the prickly pear in her mind. "Thistilaz!" Tap.
In an instant, Adams legs drew up upon himself and his body elongated. This time as he took a pear shape, there were no ridges where his legs had folded up on him. A perfectly smooth pear, with cactus needles. And it was even the color of a pear! "I did it!"
Having succeeded, Hadley returned Adam to his true form. "Reverto!" She liked her spider companion as a spider. Which was something she hadn't really thought she'd say before the class started.

| we might try another tomorrow after work if the lesson's still open ;; ♥Dunkin | Pixie's Precious Pea | kpop goddess | sneaky sounder | forever slytherin♥ It was time for the actual Transfiguration part of the Transfiguration lesson. Jaemin made sure to block the edge of the desk as he looked up at Ichihara, listening intently to everything she was saying. It seemed that it was helpful if they were naming them... Jaemin flicked a glance down at the caterpillar, still walking along his hand, and considered naming it for a long moment before deciding against it. While it would be nice for it to have a name... the original thoughts on naming it still stood. What if the next person to have it decided to name it something else? That would get super confusing for the poor little caterpillar.
He didn't want to confuse the weird little green hairy thing.
The small Slytherin did dutifully copy down the spells for all of the bugs, and made notes of some of the things the professor said. Envision the transfiguration, and how the caterpillar would go from a squishy hairy legged worm to a banana leaf. Make sure to focus on what it would look like afterward. He could do that easily enough, he was sure... he looked down at the caterpillar as it climbed down off his hand, and watched it as it moved across the desktop. This was going to be one of the easier bugs to transfigure, and it was very obvious considering what it looked like now versus what it would come to look like.
Having grown up around plants, Jaemin did know what banana leaves looked like. His caterpillar, he was sure, would be much smaller than a regular one... absently, without looking at what he was doing, Jaemin doodled the outline of a banana leaf on his notes, making it roughly the same size as the caterpillar. It was the one art thing he was really good at and actually didn't mind doing... drawing leaves or plant diagrams. Hooray for being a Herbologist. He moved the notes down onto the desktop, next to the caterpillar, then picked the thing up and very carefully deposited it on top of the outline.
"You're gonna be a bit on the small side, but it's okay. Banana leaves have lots of uses even if they're small," he whispered, running a finger lightly down the back of the squirmy green caterpillar. It was easy enough to envision it... the caterpillar's green filling in between the weird hairy parts, becoming solid and smooth, filling out the curve of the leaf shape. The colour might tweak just a bit, but that was because his caterpillar looked so light-coloured, and banana leaves were a bit darker. He stared at the little creature, humming softly to himself as he unconsciously moved his wand back and forth. "I'm gonna try and turn you into a leaf in a minute, okay? It isn't gonna hurt. You won't even realise it happened. Just stay still..."
He glanced at the spot in his notes that held the spell, not wanting to look up too far in case the caterpillar got frisky and decided to take off. The incantation looked easy enough, but Jaemin gave it a few turns on his tongue just in case. He didn't want to say it wrong and end up messing up the poor caterpillar. "Fo LEO. Fo leo. Follio. Muse-uh... no. Muse-a. Museeeee-a. Follio-musa. Fooooo leeeeeooooo muuuuuuuuse aaaaaaa."
Easier than quite a few spells he'd worked on this term. The wand movement was easy as well, and one that didn't require him to practice, though Jaemin gave a few experimental swishes with his wand anyway. Just to make sure they were decisive enough, because he didn't want to find out what happened if his swipes were tentative.
He wanted to get it right.
"Okay, are you ready?" he whispered, leaning down close to the caterpillar and giving it another gentle nudge. It had been waddling back toward the books, but the nudge made it stop and stand still, so he wouldn't accidentally cast and hit his desk and end up with a leaf desk. Though... that would be kinda cool. He gave the caterpillar one more pat before pointing his wand at it and firmly speaking the incantation, pairing it off with as decisive a right swish as he could muster. "Follio-musa."
The caterpillar shuddered, and for a moment Jaemin was afraid he had done it wrong and the small thing was about to turn into something weird. The shudder continued though, and it almost seemed like... the caterpillar was shaking itself into a leaf. It changed, a little on the slow side, one end to the other. The hairy parts spread out, like they were turning into little fans, and melded together, the line along the caterpillar's back fusing into one long stem. The little leg parts for the hairy bits duplicated themselves over, becoming the pattern of lines that made up the top of the leaf. Jaemin stared at it for a second as it went still on his desk, then slowly reached to pick it up and flip it over.
It was lighter than the banana leaves he had seen before, more of a yellow-green than a green-green, but it was definitely a leaf. He ran one finger along it, lightly touching the soft springy-ness of it, and looked up at the professor. He'd managed the caterpillarrrrr. |

Ok, Janelle was going to give this spell a try. She was a little worried about hurting Brownie in some way, but she tried to think positively. Before she started though, she had to have a few words with her bug. Leaning down very close to him, she began to explain. "Brownie, I'm going to do a little magic now. I promise I'll try to be gentle. I'm going to change you into.......well, I'm going to change you, but you'll still be with me. Don't worry, you'll be back to your normal self in no time."
Taking slow, deep breaths, Janelle was preparing herself for the task at hand. She began to visualize Brownie once more turning into a crispy, brown, dead leaf. Concentrate Janelle, concentrate, she thought to herself. When she thought she was in the zone and ready to go, Janelle took out her wand. She pointed it at Brownie. Then with one more deep breath, she made a left swish above him with her wand. At the same time, she said, "Follio Anmortum". Maybe her heart wasn't completely into it because Brownie was still Brownie. Janelle thought that she was too afraid of hurting him. That's why things hadn't worked out. She had to focus hard and give it her all, if the spell was going to work. Back to the drawing board. She had to give it another try.

After taking a deep breath, Esme made a decisive swish to the right. "Follio-Musa!"
She now had... a caterpillar. Siiiiigh. The problem probably was the fact that she had never turned an animal that she had NAMED into an object before. Somehow that made a difference because Jasmine was more than a caterpillar; she was now her little insect friend. Baby butterflies were alright in her book.
She needed to tell herself again that everything would work out and give it another try.
Another deep breath and Esme once again put all of her focus into picturing Jasmine as a banana leaf. Decisive swish to the right as she called out, "Follio-Musa!" Well, a half-caterpillar half-leaf was a start but Esme felt really BAD because that probably had hurt her little insect! "Sorry," she called out apologetically before reverting the Jasmine back to her regular form. |

Was Brownie growing tired of this exercise? He had definitely become more active, crawling around on the floor near Janelle. "Hang in there buddy. I'll get it right soon." At least she hoped she would, for both their sakes. Janelle didn't want to restrict Brownie too much, but at the same time, she didn't want him to crawl away from her. Getting a sudden idea, she reached for her backpack. Then she used her backpack, textbook and notebooks to create a makeshift pen for her bug. He had plenty of room to move around, but he couldnt' get too far away. Perfect.
That problem solved, she got back to work. Janelle began to visualize Brownie again. The she took her time and pictured him turning from bug to dead leaf. Step by step. She did this several times, every now and then turning an eye toward Brownie. Her pen was a good idea, but it was probably not foolproof. Janelle then looked at Brownie. She imagined him transforming into the leaf, right before her eyes. She could do this, she could. "Ok Brownie, we're going to give this one more try. Relax. It will all be over before you know it." Ready to try again, she knew it would be better if the bug stayed still. Wand in hand, Janelle moved closer to him, but not too close. As she visualized Brownie changing, Janelle told herself that he would be ok. She would not hurt him by doing this. Hopefully that would make the difference between succeeding and failing with this spell.
After waiting for Brownie to become still, Janelle made a left swish with her wand, right above him. "Follio Anmortum", she said, putting all of the confidence that she could muster into her voice. Janelle was almost afraid to look, but look she did. A smile began to form as she saw that Brownie now looked like a brown leaf. It wasn't quite as dead looking as she had hoped, but it was progress. Janelle didn't want to take too long to admire her work because Brownie had to be changed back to his regular self. Holding her wand, Janelle changed Brownie back to his bug form. Thank Merlin, he turned back into the Brownie that he was supposed to be. Janelle knew that she'd need a few more tries before she got the spell absolutely right.

| Post 3 Spindly Leaf Bug Ability is nothing without Opportunity | | Creativity is Intelligence having FUN He kept poking at the leaf, even blowing a few whisps at it to get it to react to him, but nothing. Transfiguration successfully completed, and the Gryffindor Ace was none too happy about it.
Scorpion Queen was far better being her versatile self, so with he set his jaw and with a gaze full of determination, Tenacius decided to reverse the spell. And reverse it quickly "Reverto!" he cast the wandstroke with such surety and urgency over the dead leaf.
..... And as it was a sight to behold, like a blooming flower the leaf started to curve up and transform back to his leafy, nutty, scorpiony leaf bug. "Scorpion Queen!" he grinned back relieved as the bug waddled about a bit trying to figure out what the heck just happened.

Snow Miser | Munchy | Molly Hooper | T | Hey, you | Phantom | Mrs. Chris Evans | Brat Pack | Tristalen Azura smiled as she looked down at her prickly pear that was her spider and she looked at it for a moment.. She did it. She was super happy, but now.. She wanted Steve back!
She picked up her wand, tapped the pear and said "Reverto!"
Sure enough the fruit melted back into Steve and she smiled happily as she saw the fuzzy arachnid back on her desk! "Steveeeeeee. " The purple eyed teen said as she picked up her eight legged friend and nuzzled him again, she knew she could probably go get another creature and try to transfigure then.. But quite honestly..
She wanted to spend more time with Steve! "Professor, are we allowed to keep our subjects?" Azura asked as she raised a hand, the other was busy holding and cuddling Steve.. |

One eye on her stop watch, the other on the students. that was how Nana spent the rest of the quiet class.
Quiet.
She still couldn't believe it. This was one for the history books to be sure.
Time ticked on, Bugs were swapped and shifted and changed back and Nana was quite pleased with the process. Alas, however, it all had to come to an end. "Students! Our time here together is up! Class is dismissed! If you would like to stick around play with our guests or simple practice more you're quite allowed to do so." No problem with a little extra. "Before you take off, I should mention that our guests today are all up for adoption, and so if you're interested in keeping any please step up and let me know, I will have to clear it with professor Draper, but I believe it will be manageable."
She just had to talk to him, professional to professional. [s]because that would certainly work[s] "Thank you all for attending today's lesson." She said as an afterthought, smiling politely before turning to clean off her chalkboard. OOC: VERY SORRY for the inconvenience my absence has caused, unfortunately there have been quite a few issues with the electricity along my street which meant no internet! and no posting! But points will be distributed soon! Thanks for your patience and thanks for playing! This thread will be open for another 48 hours. You may let your character play with the animals in that meantime or have them practicing the spell, whatever floats your boat. Just be mindful of the rules and don't RP for Nana. Thanks!

She was so excited about this she was actually trying not to jump up and down.. "We got close during the lesson and I want to keep him and take care of him, can I please? Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Caterpillar adoption Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Finally class was over! Wasting no tiime, Fiyero pointed his wand at the leaf on the desk in front of him. "Reverto!" He watched as the leaf turned back into Eplhaba; she immediately started skittering across the desk and he laughed. Clearly somebody was glad to be a caterpillar again. He couldn't blame her. She was a lot more fun this way!
Elphaba inched her way up his arm, and he gave her a little pat. Wait, what? They could adopt the bugs? Cool! He was hoping they might be allowed to keep their subjects, but he didn't want to be the one to ask Professor Ichihara, in case she thought it was a dumb question and decided to splash him again. He was glad Azura brought it up!
Fiyero packed up his books, taking extra care not to disturb Elphaba as he slung his bag over his shoulder. He took a deep breath as he nervously approached Professor Ichihara. "Professor?" he said in an unusually timid voice. "Do you think I could keep Elphaba, please?" She's going to say no, he thought. I just know it...

| Ability is nothing without Opportunity | | Creativity is Intelligence having FUN Aww man it was time to go. The Gryffindor Ace was crestfallen, given how attached he has become to his little nut bug. But wait! They could adopt?? "Professor I wanna adopt my Scorpion Queen too!" he jumped up, joining the throng of students |

| ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Esme let out a sigh of relief when Professor Ichihara announced that it was time to leave. Thank Merlin because she didn't think that she could stand to hurt her little caterpillar again. AND they got to keep their insect if they wanted to?? Well then. If she had worked with a tarantula (eww) there would be no way in hell that she'd consider keeping it, but this was a baby butterfly and she had grown attached to Jasmine...
Packing up her things, she joined the group with caterpillar in hand. "I want to adopt Jasmine." Yep! |
