Abby stopped by the mirror that she hadnt been too for a long time and she sighed as she knew that this whole year was going to be tough but she was strong enough to get through it

Katherine was hurriedly going to the library (already, on the second day of school) with two big books in her hands and more in her bag when she abruptly halted in front of the mirror.

No, it wasn't the first time she was seeing it - but... it was the first time. She must have passed a thousand times from here last year, but this was the first time she was noticing the reflection. It was so beautiful... except for the bigger girl standing right in the middle of it and blocking her view.

Moooooooove, so that Katherine could look at the reflection of a life she would never have.

Abby turned and saw the younger eagle standing behind her and said "Oh sorry did you want to look in the mirror at your reflection" Abby stood to the side so the younger girl could get in for a proper look

Yes, she did want to look at her reflection, thank you very -

Wait, her reflection!?

Katherine blinked between the mirror and the girl for three or so seconds. "I don't see my reflection," she said slowly, "do you?"

Abby looked at the younger eagle and said "Yeah it is designed that way but to be honest I have never got why we could never see our reflections, I am Abby by the way"

Designed?

Katherine looked at the wall directly across the supposed mirror. Yeah, of course there was no such painting or whatever for the mirror to reflect, so...

"I'm Katherine," she said without looking at the girl - sorry, but this is too interesting to make small talk. "But," she began as if she was a judge about to read out the verdict, "then this isn't really a mirror. It's merely a - screen, or a different type of painting. Mirrors reflect, but this one shows a whole different picture."

It should be called... painting or something.

Abby smiled at Katherine and said "Yeah I know what you mean it is an interesting thing I don't know how it does it but I am sure one day somebody will figure it out hopefully" Abby knew she might have done it but with the way things were at the moment well it was difficult to do anything right

Katherine sniggered at the comment, not maliciously but bitterly. "I'm sure Professor Primaux has an answer," she said, "why don't we go and ask him?" Because she wanted to KNOW and nothing was more important right now.

Was she coming?

Olly may have been running a bit late. Usually he was awake pretty early but that had not been the case this morning. He hadn't even woken up when his alarm went off and as a result he missed breakfast and was about to miss his first class of the day if he didn't hurry. His robes had been pulled on haphazardly and he hadn't even brushed his hair. There was no time. He couldn't be late. It wasn't that he particularly cared about the lesson but he knew that being late was bad and he didn't want to be rude. Plus he didn't want to lose points of course.

But as he hurried past the mirror he couldn't help put pause. He couldn't rush into a classroom looking like that. He quickly tried to flatten his hair and it did help a bit. He tugged on his robes to straighten them out until he looked more presentable. That would be acceptable, right? He peered closely at himself one more time before turning to go.

Except before he left he caught sight of something underneath the mirror. That didn't look like part of the mirror, what was it doing there? Olly knelt down and picked it up to study it more carefully. Yeah, that definitely didn't belong under the mirror, but where had it come from? He didn't have any time to ponder at the moment because he suddenly remembered that he was running late. Right. He shoved the mysterious object into his pocket and rushed off.
