The Great Lake The Great Lake, also known as the Black Lake, is a large body of water located to the south of the castle. It is about half a mile in diameter and the Hogwarts plumbing network drains into it. Creatures have made it their home from Merpeople to Grindylows, with even Moaning Myrtle occasionally taking a swim. |
Yay!!! Echo was so happy to be out and about, it was going to be a bit chilly but she was happy that she had brought an extra sweater just in case she needed it. "do you think this is a good spot to sit and relax?" she asked Kat, while holding her blanket and a mug of butterbeer. "the sky is so pretty isnt it" she commented while taking it all in, maybe this year wont be as bad and shes thinking. |
For Haddie (Callie) Abby sat down beside the edge of the lake she was glad to get some air because she wanted to get out of the castle for a bit but she also wanted to hopefully somebody about her really rubbish summer |

And yet it was one of the places she was gonna miss the most when it seemed like she'd never see Hogwarts again. This year she was gonna spend more time at the lake, with Asher. And with Thomas, her magical camera, so she could have pictures of it to remember forever. Both were with her today. Asher on her shoulder and Thomas in her messenger bag, next to her secret journal of ideas that only she could open thanks to Penny. Only, Hadley wasn't the only one who had the idea of visiting the lake. "Hey Abs..." It was Abby, right? Hads was fairly sure of that. She sat down next to her older house mate, without checking to see if it was okay first. "What's up?" |

"You too?" she said at last. It came out more as a sigh than anything else. "Terrible summer seems to be going around this year." The second year had been distinctly aware that she and Abby weren't the only two that had horrible summers, but she didn't know the logistics of any. It had been more or less a topic Hadley had been avoiding, both telling or hearing. But it was bound to catch up with her eventually, or now, and she had the distinct impression that Abs was trying to open up to someone about it. That someone being her. As much as Haddie would have preferred to avoid the subject longer, she didn't see much way out of it this time. Time to face the music. "I'm sorry. Do...you want to talk about it?" |
Kimmmmyyyy/Vivi! Ever since Azura had gotten the news about her mother, she had been a bit leery of Forests.. A fear that had never been there before.. She used to love looking at The Forbidden Forest.. Now whenever her purple eyes swung towards it.. a shiver went down her spine and she found herself wondering what sort of creatures lay in it.. Were there vampires in there? Every time she though of them.. a cold knot settled in her stomach and she broke out in a sweat.. What if they really liked her mother's blood.. what if they came after her.. What if.. What if.. Azura turned her gaze away from the Forest and instead focused on the lake as she sat on a small rock.. She took a deep breath as she let the soothing sound of the water calm her down.. She would be okay.. The Headmaster and the Professor's wouldn't let anything happen to her.. Right? Right. She had faith.. |

"What do you mean, act weird and cause trouble, though?" Or was the causing trouble how she'd be acting weird? "Eh, I wouldn't worry about the trouble part much. I'm in trouble all the time, and I'm fine. But it might help to let Mr. Kitridge know. He's an understanding guy, and it might help your situation if he was aware. Hell, he might know how to fix it." Because spells were reversible, right? |

Wow. That was...Hads really didn't have the words for what that was. "That...sucks." She had that word at least. But still. After a moment or two, Hadley reached up, a little awkwardly, and patted Abby's shoulder comfortingly. It was all she could think of to do. "Yeah, definitely tell Kitridge." And maybe the amazing new Headmaster, Voice Cat Guy...she honestly had no idea what his name was. But Hads didn't add that. If it was that serious, Kitridge would bring it to the Headmaster's attention. If not, he'd handle it himself. "Um...My Dad wants to force me to not be a witch anymore..." Hadley winced, painfully. It had been meant as a sympathetic, shared pain thing, but the second she said it, she regretted it. They weren't even remotely similar. Here Abs was dealing with something wildly serious and traumatic and Haddie was whining about her Dad not accepting like a big baby. |

Ouch. Hadley winced harder. Abs called her out on her pathetic attempt to relate, and ouch. It hadn't been intentional, but that didn't make it any better either. "Yeah, I know," she said with a sigh. "I'm sorry. Really. I just suck at the whole comforting people thing. I'm like the literal worst at it." She paused, stroking Asher in her lap gently. "Sorry." Hadley had no idea what else to say to any of it. So she just sat there in awkward silence... |

"I..." Just trying to imagine what that would be like left Hadley's mouth gaping like a fish. Eventually she closed it, sighed and hugged Asher closer to her. The ferret picking up on her emotions nuzzled against her arm reassuringly. Merlin, she loved that ferret. "Uh, you're welcome." It was good to hear she helped at least a little. "If there's anything I can do to help you, just let me know. Anytime. You can even blame whatever you do to lose points on me. Everyone would buy it." |

"Well, Rachel, Penny and Hady are generally my go-tos for listening and support and comfort and all that..." They were great at that. Which begged the question as to why she hadn't gone to them about her thing yet. Hads shook her head. That wasn't important. "They would be good for you too if you are willing to let them in. I mean, I'm still here to listen whenever you need me, but as you saw today, I'm not great at that. They are though. I'm better at the doing things." |

Well, what a great way to keep her cheered up. "Uh, want to hear a really cute, dumb joke my neighbor's kid told me?" |

After all, as big as a troublemaker as Hadley might be, she did have morals. No hurting people or destroying people's property with pranks or other mischief. It stopped being fun for all if those lines were crossed. She smiled warmly thinking about her little neighbor. Octopus, as Hadley dubbed her, was adorable and honestly had been her lifeline this summer. Sure, she had to babysit little Octavia in her own home, under the watchful eye of Dad, but it was nice to have interactions outside her immediate family to liven things up. Even if that interaction was with a 5 year old. "Okay, ready? Remember it's a joke a 5 year old told me, so... How do you know if there's an elephant under your bed?" |
