The house elves have been hard at work, leaving the Great Hall spotless, the tables set with pristine silverware, and delicious smells floating up from the kitchen. Your stomach might be growling, but it isn't quite time to eat yet.
Hopefully, the new Headmaster will make an appearance before you chew your way through your House table. Has anyone seen him yet?

After having made a very unexpected but needed stop at the staff table Hadleigh had made her way for her own table of green and silver. Her eyes quickly moved down the length of the long table taking in the several new firsties and giving each a small nod of her head in greeting. Nice job to them for joining the home of the snakes.
She wasn't about to speak to every single person though given how many were already there. What she did do though was sort out an empty spot near the middle of the table and slip herself down onto the bench making sure she had a perfect view of the lions table. Her gaze was drawn to a blonde prefect at that table whom earned a bright smile from her. They had spoken on the train of course and she would see him in the morning if he couldn't get away from his table to join hers for the feast.
Now could the feast please begin so she could eat? Food was of need right now.

Elsa kept to herself during the train ride, but now she was finally at her second favorite place in the world - Hogwarts and she couldn't contain the excitement anymore. She skipped along the Slytherin table saying hi to Ariadne, Melbourne, Hady and a few others and sat across a first year boy that was silently waiting. She put on her biggest grin and waved a hello to him "Hi! I'm Elsa, welcome to Slytherin!" she squealed in excitement, slightly jumping in her seat with anticipation for the banquet. She was famished.
Demean looked to the girl in front of him: Hi Elsa, I'm Demean, nice to meet you. Do you know how long until the food arrives? He replied quickly, and he felt himself blush, this girl had a beautiful smile and her eyes were exotic green.

Reason: fat fingers
Demean looked to the girl in front of him: Hi Elsa, I'm Demean, nice to meet you. Do you know how long until the food arrives? He replied quickly, and he felt himself blush, this girl had a beautiful smile and her eyes were exotic green.
She blinked a couple of times in surprise when she noticed the young boy's blush after talking to her. Well that was new. She silently thanked Kitty in her head, for all the fashion advices she had given her that summer, allowing her to bloom from a child into a somewhat childish pre-teen? What was even her category. She was technically a teen, being thirteen and all.. Putting those thoughts aside, she answered the young Slytherin "Demean, that's a cool name! Where are you from? I think there was a hit Muggle TV show a long time ago, with someone named like you. Or was it Damon? I'm not sure.." she blurted before quickly gathering her train of thought again ".. never mind that. The food won't be long. We'll waiting for the sorting to end and for the speech." did she detect a trace of accent in his voice?
Hogwarts was such a diverse place, to think she was afraid of being lonely in her first year..

It's a pretty common name in Russia, I used to live in Moscow but I doubt I'll ever go there again until I'm an adult. I was going to Durmstrang like all my family, but I ended up here.Demean had to change the subject...You are a second year right ? Do you know any combat spells ?!Perhaps he was gonna scare her, but that came out of his mouth before he could process is line of thought.

Woaah, Moscow. That was.. far away. Elsa took another look at Demean, trying to identify the Russian characteristics, and decided his fair skin was probably it. "I'm no from the UK as well, I used to live in Portugal and just like you I was supposed to go to a different school, but my mother attended Hogwarts and insisted that I did as well." she explained nodding. They had more in common then she at first thought! And then he quickly changed topics, eager to take the heat off of him perhaps? "Combat spells?" she repeated confused "Duel spells you mean? I know a few, not many I'm afraid. We had a duel club last year but I didn't participate so I'm not the most advanced student in that area. You're a fan of duels? I bet you can apply to it if it opens again!". Yes, this year she would also be applying, it was a shame she missed it all together last year.
She put a strand of hair behind her year and leaned forward "Why didn't you go to Durmstrang? I head they're really into duels and dark arts.." she asked innocently, unaware that that might be a topic he wished to avoid.

Pffft! Whatever!! Colt had TOTALLY wanted her to come sit with him. Hehe. "I can talk to them when I go back over or when we get to the common room. I wanted to come talk to you and admire your face." Okay so she was totally just inflating his ego now, but it was fun and he really WAS hotter now. Heh.
"I met her once last term, too. In the observatory. But she called me Nim... so I think I have to make her life miserable now." Because OBVIOUSLY her name was Dora, not Nim. Never Nim.
"OH! I went to Bali with my family and Casper and then we spent the last few weeks of summer in Santorini. We love Greece." That was where she had been born anyway! "And I got FLOWERS on the train. From a boy." So like... all the other boys needed to step it up now.

It was a nice face wasn’t it? “Hey guys…you picked a nice face to admire” she nodded before looking around again. Right. It was mission time.
Colt grinned and gave a laugh. "Oh I bet." He felt his ego being inflated just a little bit. Well now it was all the way inflated when he heard Mel come by. She commented on his face and he rolled his eyes. "Come on guys it is the same face from last year.." He smirked and winked at Mel for the comment.
Now turning back to Dora "She called you Nim.?" he asked giving her a quizzical look. "What is that supposed to mean like a nickname for something?" His gears were turning now. "Well yeah you do if she gave you that nickname. She can be a sassy one but I always add fuel to the fire.." he shrugged. He looked down at his plate and wished the food would come soon.
He heard of Dora's adventures and he was impressed. "Man I want to go to Greece. That sounds cool. I wanna travel Europe one day. I have only managed to go to Australia just for family purposes." He eyebrows raised when she mentioned she got flowers. "Huh.. I guess I got competition. Who is your secret admirer then?" He didn't know anyone had a crush on Dora.

Okay. It wasn’t a potion. She’d released fleas on her bunkmate and then TRIED to throw them into the boys camp but the stupid charms had warded them off.

She waved at the girl. "Hullo." She smiled at the girl hoping the girl wouldn't pull a snob act like some of her older cousins do when they are all out in public.
Ariadne needed somebody to talk to. There was no food, and since she was doing nothing else but looking like a bump on a log, she needed a friend. Hearing a hello coming from not too far away, Ariadne looked up. CANDY MATH GIRL! What was her name again? ... Had she even been told her name? They had just gotten good and into their conversation when the train had reached Hogsmeade Station, and they'd started the unboarding process.
"Oh, hey there!" she exclaimed, moving closer to her new friend. Candy Math Girl was a SLYTHERIN! "You got your wish! Slytherin!" She should get her name. Right now, too! "I'm Ariadne Greingoth, by the way. I think I know all about your candy and the math to go along with it, but I never got your name." She gave a light laugh at that comment.
Peering down the table, she gave a small wave to the ones she knew. There was Jaemin, Melbourne, Brooklyn, and... OH, MY MERLIN! "KYE! Heyyy, Kye!" she exclaimed. Kye was IN SLYTHERIN WITH HER! Another look told her that the blonde-headed girl she'd rode the train with, Vivian, she thought, had also gotten Slytherin. TOO MUCH EXCITEMENT!
Elsa was talking to another new Slytherin (Demean). Both of them got waves, as well. Then there was Hady, who was pretty much that one older Slytherin that all the ickle snakes slithered to. Ariadne gave her a small smile, because at this point, she was starting to feel like some machine programmed to constantly wave. Ariadne was just SO FRIENDLY today.
Ariadne Greingoth made her way into the Great Hall with confidence in her step. She was a SECOND YEAR now, and NO start-of-term food fight was going to scare her under the table this time. A quick glance down the table told her that basically none of her regular friends were in the Great Hall yet. SLACKERS. hee hee She gave a small smile and wave to the people she did see (everyone here) then took a seat kind of in the middle.
Her brown eyes flickered up to the staff table. She couldn't really see much with all the comings and goings, but she just bet there were loads of new staffers. She'd heard other people say that there were always new staffers. There was no food out yet either, which was no good, because Ariadne was starving! That one chocolate frog she'd had at the beginning of the train ride hadn't kept her full at all.
She fidgeted in place then looked around again.

Apparently, the sorting ceremony process was very draining for her. After Vivian took the Hat off and made a wrong turn to the Ravenclaw Table, she went to join her now fellow housemates in the table with green banners. So... this was her home for the next seven years, huh? In all due honesty, Vivian wasn't sure about what she really felt. She had not expected to be sorted into Slytherin when most, if not all, of her family members were sorted into either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. On top of that, she wasn't sure how her parents and Aunt Elise would react to their little Vivi being a Snake.
Vivi walked slowly but then shook her head to clear herself from overthinking. The blonde examined the occupants of the table. She didn't really know anyone. Wow. For once, she was a little bit nervous... and Vivian Iona Fairfield wasn't synonymous to that term at all.
Oh, look! Vivian perked a little bit when she saw a familiar face. It was Ariadne, the girl she sat with in the Hogwarts Express. The eleven year old went towards her and sort of squished her butt so she could sit beside the second year. Sorry, not sorry. She just needed a familiar person close, and also some reassuring that the Sorting Hat didn't place her in this House as a joke.
"Hi," she said to Ariadne, looked down at her fingers, and wagged them a little bit to keep herself distracted. Really, she didn't know what to do. It was a very un-Vivian thing of her.
[/SIZE]
Kye had been sitting along the table for just a little while when she noticed Vivian, the girl from the train! She got up to follow her and see if she wouldn't mind sitting together, when Vivian stopped in front of Ariadne. Ahh perfect! Kye was on the other side of the table from them, but she approached as Vivian snuggled in and sniggered. "Mind if I make this a party?" she asked with a small smile. She liked these girls, thus far.
She took a seat across from them. She turned her attention to Vivian for a moment with excitement, "Well? How do you feel? Did you have any inkling on what House you'd be?"
Turning her excited little head to Ariadne she had little flashbacks to Diagon Alley and the train and said, "I'm so glad we ran into each other at Flourish and Blotts. I'm so much more excited to be in Slytherin now! Well my dad was in it, but yay I already have friends!"

Seventh year prefect Charlotte Wojack-Gusey was a teensy tiny bit late for the feast. Her poor kneazle would NOT settle with her trunk in the Great Hall, and she'd slipped down to drop him off in the dorm on his own. Nimbus was now probably happily eating his way through someone's slipper as she slipped into a spot near the front of the Slytherin table.
Everyone was settling in pretty well, and Dot didn't have to break up any fights... yet. She had plenty of time to lean her chin against her fist and study the staff table. It was like one of those 'find the differences' paintings, except these differences were entire people. And a cat.

Vivian actually sat without saying much. She was still pretty confused and she didn't know how she was supposed to tell her family. For sure, Uncle Chris would be thrilled to have another Slytherin but what about her Gryffindor dad and Ravenclaw mum? She was overthinking a little bit. But... NAH STOP IT VIVIAN. She shook her head. This was her official first start of teem feast and she wasn't going to be sour about it.
The blonde turned around to Ariadne. It was such a comfort for her to be with someone she knew. Well, not exactly close but at least familiar and someone around her age. "We're housemates!" Vivi bounced excitedly on her seat. Kinda cool, to be honest! "What's it like here in Slytherin?" Her mum and dad told stories about Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, but it was understandable that they did because they came from those houses. She was probably the first Slytherin Fairfield in quite a long while. But then Vivi's attention was directed towards another housemate. She smiled at Kye.
Hmm? What did she feel? Vivian actually pondered on that for a minute. She didn't know the answer to it either. "Uhm, okay, I guess?" she replied with a small smile. "I have yet to tell my parents about my sorting. Really dunno how they'd react. And I had no idea. I always thought it'd be a close tie between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, like my daddy and mummy, but I guess I ended up different." But different wasn't always bad! Vivian tried to be as positive as a proton.
But then. OMG LOOK. Older student. Vivi looked at the older redhead (Dot). She noticed the shiny badge too and Vivi stared at it. So she was a student leader then? Coooool! She pointed at the badge that was pinned on the girl's robes. "Pretty pretty," she said.
To the badge. But the older girl was pretty too. GIGGLE.

Felix clapped happily at the announcement. "The hat asked me if I was sure about Slytherin. I told him of course. My daddy was in Slytherin and I look rather good in green. Green is sort of an all around color but sometimes it doesn't look good on everyone. My aunt India looks dreadful in green, but she looks really good in red. Red is a nice color when you live in the desert." She nodded. Well Felix looked good in any color but yellow and green were her favorite. "I'm Felix, Felix Greenwood. My grandmother named me. She said my dad fainted when I popped out so she had to give them a name fore me, but I like Felix." She shuddered to think if she was a Tiffany or a Stacey.

She pulled a lock down and peered at it. "Do you think it did that so I could match?" Her hair was yellow last week, but she really liked the green.

There was giggling, which could be either cute, annoying, or embarrassing, depending on whether or not it was at Dot's expense. She straightened up to eye the very little girl and found her pointing at Dot. At Dot's badge, to be specific.
Well, the shiny was pretty pretty, and she'd even given it a little glitter bow in silver and green to make it double the pretty pretty. That was... pretty pretty pretty pretty. "Thank you." Dot touched the badge with a fingertip before removing it and offering it to the girl for closer examination. "Don't lick it or anything. I'd have to turn you into a gerbil." That was a real thing.

"I am in charge. I have a badge... well, no, that girl has my badge, but you can see it. They don't give you badges just because of height and age requirements, though, but because someone somewhere thought I was responsible." More likely they thought she wasn't as irresponsible as some of her peers. Same difference. "You ask a lot of questions, but you don't wait around for the answer. Is that because you can't help it or because you don't really care to know what the answers are?"

Vivi always wondered what it would be like to hold such a shiny badge. Well, her auntie Elise used to have one but the younger Fairfield was like... let's say, three years old when her auntie was made Quidditch captain of her house. Well, that was before it was sort of banned. It would've been great to see some Quidditch. But anyway, Vivi had never laid her finger on any shiny badge at all.
Except now!!! Vivian's eyes widened. For real? Miss Older Student was allowing her? "I can hold it, right? I'll polish it for you if you let me." Honestly, nobody was as excited and down for all of this as Vivian Fairfield. She giggled more at the licking thing, although she considered it for a while. However, she didn't want to be transformed into a gerbil on her first night at Hogwarts.
"My name is Vivian. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Pretty Prefect." The older student got beams from the firstie.

Mel just gave Colt a little grin at that wink…she had gotten winked at! YES. Still there was no way she was EVER aaaaand her attention was back on the-less-then-awesome-hair-boy. Really. He was all quiet and ignoring and boring…kind of like his hair.
When the Italian girl asked if he was always like this Mel just shrugged. “I don’t know…never actually met him…” Mel admitted. “I don’t even know his name…I always mentally referred to him as hair-boy.” She shrugged her shoulder and then looked back at now sickly looking hair boy.
Right.
Sick. “here.” She said as she shoved a package of mints over to him. “For when you you know…you look like you are about to retch all over the table.” SEEE she came prepared to these things. “You could always use a hair potion…or an anti-charm” she suggested as she looked at the hair….”or just hire someone to hex them.” She shrugged.
What? She hadn’t exactly learned how to behave properly…her grandmother had helped with that whole lets talk like a future villain thing that she always had going for her.

There it was, now deeper than she at first noticed - a Russian accent! Elsa was grinning, she too found herself confused on how to properly translate her thoughts to English even though that now, after a full year only speaking English it came easier. It would be the same for Demean, she was sure. As she opened her mouth to tell him exactly that, he dropped the bomb that both his parents were dead. Ok. How does one react to that?
"I'm.. so sorry for your loss Demean." she said in a small voice, the grin wiped from her features. That was so sad. Her mother was such a pesky little thing at times but she couldn't image her life without her, or her father for that matter. She looked away for a moment trying to gather her thoughts once more and come up with something sensible yet completely different to talk about. She gazed around the table and..

Ariadne was just SO FRIENDLY today.
.. saw Ariadne waving left and right. That made her giggle a little. She looked so happy. "That's Ariadne" she explained to Demean, tilting her head towards where she stood "She's a second year Slytherin as well. Have you met her yet?" as her eyes kept sweeping the table they landed first at Colt, who Elsa was quick to avert her gaze from - she still remembered elbowing him in the nose - and not far from her sat the Seventh Year Prefect Girl. All snakes knew who she was, but Elsa hadn't had a chance to properly meet her yet and now was her last chance since next year she would be gone.

"Hi Charlotte!!" she said leaning forward on the table and speaking up "I'm Elsa and this is Demean! We're second and first years! Do you know what's up with that cat on the staff table?" she added curiously. She had noticed it seating there, watching, but had no idea what or who it was.

With her gaze meeting that of the boyfriends across the hall everything else around her was muted for the briefest of moments. His gestures were met with a small quiet laugh, a wiggle of her fingers rather then a wave (cause it was much cuter!) and a returned smoochy face. It was somewhat routine for them to do this so she didn't even think about any of it.
Her attention was quickly back on the snakes the very second Frankie had looked away. He was busy, this she knew. Glancing up and down the length of the table she realized a few more house mates had sat themselves down. A smile was sent towards a smaller younger snakette Ariadne in return to the one the girl had just given her.
Her eyes continued to sweep over the table spotting those of Colt, Brooklyn, their Prefect Dot and a few other younguns she didn't know...yet. All of which either got a smile or a nod of her head in greeting. Most were already in conversations therefore she remained silent for the time being. There was more then enough time to speak with everyone later on.

As she finished talking to Charlotte Elsa noticed that Hady was awfully quiet, so decided to introduce Demean to her as well "Hi Hady! How was your summer?" she asked with a grin before poking Demean's elbow to catch his attention once again "This is Hady, she was the first Slytherin I spoke to, she's really cool!" she explained him loud enough for Hady to hear "and this is Demean, he's Russian!" she said excitedly. Ok so maybe she was a little too excited with the fact that he was Russian that and the beginning of a new year at Hogwarts. She clapped her hands with excitement. Food was coming any minute now right?

And then there was a talker. A good talker too, which usually impressed Dot, who could talk a streak herself. But she only ever used her powers for good, and never for frivolous reasons. Like... confusing a professor or charming a cute boy, those were acceptable reasons for chattering away. This... this made her brain hurt a little.
She nodded. "The badges at the Willy Wonka factory give you pieces of chocolate if you ask it nicely. Does your badge do that?" Her eyes danced with glee. Chocolate was always a good idea.
Felix looked at the taller girl. "Are you one of those people that answers questions with questions because you are stalling till you can figure out the answer? Sometimes I ask questions and people don't know the answers, and they do that." She nodded. There were a lot of people like that. Felix knew she asked a lot of questions, but she liked knowing the answers, and the only want to learn things was to ask questions. Or read a book, but Felix like conversating more than reading. "Or maybe you're like one of those people that answer questions with questions because you want the other person to figure it out on their own. My grandmother does that all the time. She calls it a teaching moment." Maybe the girl was like that. "Honestly who asks questions when they don't want to know the answers?" That would be really weird.

Her final year at Hogwarts...this came quicker than expected. The summer was so long and life changing she had almost forgotten. Here she was though, another feast, the last feast. Hopefully, no one would throw food at her hair this time around.....she was not above hexing an ickle right now. Well, at least one of the prefects was at the table for back up. Ilia found herself giving the pretty ginger a passing smile.
The oddness going on at the staff table didn't phase the seventeen year old, a chuckle was all that escaped her. After having a brush with death on her very first term, she'd learned not to be surprised by anything at this school.
The unfortunate thing about dating outside of your house, and a student leader, was that sitting with them for these functions didn't really happen. Cheering him from the sidelines worked though, being in a band made it equal sort of now.....think of band, speak of the devil....Ilia decided that beside Hady was the best place right now. Band sisters were packmates and automatically a safe zone.
As Dora seemed like she was talking to others, his swept the table to see if he could find familiar faces. He spotted his female prefect Dot. He nodded towards her and gave a friendly wave. Might as well show the one in charge a little respect. As the slytherin turned his head, he noticed Mel gave him a wink. He raised his eyebrows and was kind of taken aback. He didn't expect that reaction. He saw Mel turn her attention to somewhere else but he might as well make some conversation. "Hey Mel how was your summer?"
Then he saw Elsa make eye contact with him but then avert her gaze. He gave her a quizzical look and wondered why she was acting this way. He went back into his memory bank and he remembered. Aaahh she hit him in the nose. He didn't care too much anymore. He walked over and thought he might as well tell Elsa she didn't have to worry. "Ya know you don't have to worry about the whole nose incident. You know I'm over it." He took a seat down next to Ela.
Then he look straight ahead and saw Hady. He smiled halfly and gave her a friendly wave. He wasn't gonna forget about their train conversation because it was true plus he hadn't talk to her in a while. He might as well give her a little pick up line, "I see you can't keep your eyes off me either."

Cal was brought out of his sad hair trance when Pretty Prefect Dot walked by. He shook off the gross feeling in his stomach to follow the prefect, snatching the bag of mints from the girl on his way. He popped a mint in his mouth, fixing his hair, and stuff. "Helllllooooooo, Missss Prefec-ct Dot." Wiggles eyebrows. "Looking good as usual." Cal moved to lean on something coolly, but caught nothing, but air. So...Cal will just stand there, he guesses. Coolly.
Grumpzilla got a bit of a glaring at as he simply ignored her and walked off. “I guess grumpy is his modus operandi?” Mel shrugged as she looked over at the girl once again…what even was her name.
Ooooooooooooooooh Colt was asking about her summer! She smirked a bit over to him before full on grinning. “Brilliant my summer was brilliant!” She laughed, “I went to this summer camp that was alright but…it was also dreadful because none of my friends were there” she frowned a bit. “Well…Kat Delgado was there and Charlotte but they were pretty much the only people I actually knew” she sighed. “BUT! My gran visited too and then I visited with her in Australia for a bit…” she grinned. “We went to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Tasmania actually…and we even went to Rottnest Island and I was able to play with Quokkas!” She beamed at this bit because who didn’t love Quokkas?
“Did you do anything fun for your summer?” She asked happily.

Well, DUH, Kye! Of course they didn't mind! Ariadne had been EXPECTING Kye to get up and join them and would have been confused had she not. "Of course we don't mind! I was just about to motion for you to come down here anyway," she said. She still couldn't believe the girl she'd met in Diagon Alley over the summer was now here at Hogwarts, sitting next to her at the Slytherin house table. Speaking of Diagon Alley... "So what about the other girl we saw in Diagon Alley? Arista (LadyJaneGrey)? Wonder what house she ended up in..." Ariadne didn't even see her on the train. Maybe she ended up going to Beauxbatons or something.

GIGGLE.
Vivian seemed kind of quiet at first, but then when she turned to Ariadne, she seemed to burst with excitement over her recent sorting. Ariadne smiled at the slightly younger girl, hoping to show that she shared her excitement over having Vivian in Slytherin with her. "Yeah, we are! I can't believe how many of my new friends ended up in Slytherin with me," she commented. Honestly. It was true. Maybe it was just because she was a second year and wasn't quite as new as she was last year. Whatever it was, she seemed to know WAY more people. "Well, being in Slytherin was really awesome! We placed second in the house cup race, which isn't first, but at least it isn't third or fourth." Poor Hufflepuff had been dead last in EVERYTHING.
Overhearing what Vivian was saying to Kye, Ariadne added, "Your parents should be proud of you. I have an older sister who was in Gryffindor, and the rest of us were in Slytherin. It just shows you're unique...and awesome."

Ariadne gave a light laugh at Felix's description of her sorting hat experience. She was always so animated and descriptive in what she said. It made their conversations interesting. "Well, that sounds like me. I was bound and determined to be a Slytherin just like my mom, dad, and older sister," she said. Well, one of her older sisters, at least. Anna had been a Gryffindor.
"Nice to meet you, officially, Felix," she said, raising her eyebrows at the story of how she'd been given her name at birth. "You're just full of interesting stories." Ariadne had never asked anything about how her mom and dad had come up with her name. Maybe she'd ask that when she went home for Christmas break. She caught Elsa in the midst of pointing her out to some new kid, and so Ariadne smiled down their way before turning away again.
Just then, she happened to turn her gaze toward the staff table. "HOLY MERLIN!" she exclaimed. "That cat! It's a...it's a he! HIM! That mean right there...wonder who he is..." She was PLENTY educated on the art of Animagi, but she just hadn't been expecting to glance over and catch a random, unexpected transformation right in front of her."
She listened in awe as who appeared to be their brand new Headmaster made his start-of-term speech.
