| | Sixth Floor Corridor
The sixth floor corridor houses several empty rooms, as well as several busy ones, most notable of which is the Transfiguration classroom.
You can try all the doors you'll find on this floor, but most will be locked for their own reasons. There's no harm in conversing with the ugly grouchy old portraits surrounding them though.

This responsibility thing was was stressful. She had just taken quite the break to enjoy it. She had no idea how people survived both responsibility and exams. She'd never been happier that the badge happened this year and not the previous ones.
She emerged back into the hallway and exhaled a breath. Alright. What now? She was actually pretty free and didn't have any plans with Kyroh.

It was still nice out so maybe she could go sit by the lake. The only problem with that was that she REALLY didn't want to seem like a loner (because she wasn't, obviously) but sitting there by herself would make her look like one.
Naturally, that was quite a big problem.
To which she had APPARENTLY just found a solution! "Kayceeeee!" Maggie called out upon spotting her friend a little further down the corridor. Perfect. She'd have time for her for sure. She HAD to. And no, not even the Prefect Badge would be a good enough excuse. |

| ♥Dunkin | Pixie's Precious Pea | kpop goddess | sneaky sounder | forever slytherin♥ Why did the place he liked to use to practice have to be so high up? Jaemin sighed as he climbed up the stairs from the fifth floor to the sixth, glad to finally have reached his destination. He'd been bouncing when he'd started out of his common room, but now his short legs were tiiiiiiired and he had slowed down. He needed to get used to climbing all these steps again. Either that, or he had to talk one of the professors into doing something to make the spare office that was usually unlocked more easily accessible. But if he did that, it might lead to the room being locked all the time, which... would just be the worst.
Humming to himself, the boy paused at the top of the steps before heading down the hall, looking from door to door. Not it... not it... not it... |

Besties would just tell when their best friend was calling them. "MAGGIEEEEE!" she exclaimed. "What's up?" What was she doing all the way up here? And more importantly... "What are you up to?"
She was a free for the day and some Maggie time will be excellent.

Humming to himself, the boy paused at the top of the steps before heading down the hall, looking from door to door. Not it... not it... not it... The sixth floor corridor was a convenient place to cut through on the way to any number of more interesting places, most of them on the seventh floor. Plus it was less crowded and there was no one loitering in this particular corridor, so Dot didn't have to be prefecty and hustle people on their way.
Except... she did. Not hustle, but she had to do the prefecting thing.
"Are you lost?" She tilted her head and scrunched her nose at him, her hair falling over her shoulder in a ginger waterfall.

"Are you lost?" She tilted her head and scrunched her nose at him, her hair falling over her shoulder in a ginger waterfall. For all the time he had spent in that particular room the previous term, one would think he would remember which door it was. But all the doors, unfortunately, looked rather similar, and after a summer way... well. He was sure of the general area he was looking for, but not the specific door. And he didn't want to try the wrong one, because what if one was occupied by someone and they got mad at him and-
-Prefect Dot.
Jaemin tilted his head, the opposite direction of Prefect Dot's tilting, and looked at her inquisitively for a good long moment. Then he shook his head, because he was only a little turned around and not lost, and grinned at her. She had been here for YEARS. She would surely know which door he was looking for.
"There's an empty room up here somewhere that I liked to practice stuff in, but I can't remember which door it is." He touched his pocket, where the tennis ball from Airey Flamsteed was tucked away. He had a momentary thought though, at her expression, and the grin on his face faded a little. "Am I not supposed to do that? Without someone with me?"
The other times he'd come up here without a professor, there had been nobody in the hall, so he'd just assumed that it was okay to be in there. Maybe it wasn't. Was it not?! She wasn't gonna yell at him, was she? Because that would be TRAGIC. |

"You could probably do that in any of these rooms," Dot shoved her hair back over her shoulder and counted off the doors just in this corridor. Transfiguration hallway was out, probably, but there was that empty classroom just waiting for someone to make it useful again. She pointed out the door to the classroom.
"Try that one. And really, silly, you don't have to ask permission to study. It's easier if you do it with friends, though. Maybe you can find me after dinner and we'll practice some spells. What are you working on right now?" She could use the practice for NEWTs anyway.

Any of them? Jaemin nodded thoughtfully, looking from door to door until she pointed at one specific one. Maybe that had been the one he'd used last term. The one with the weird smell.
"Some of them are locked... or they were last term," he murmured, rocking back and forth lightly on his feet. "I didn't wanna go nosing about, so I just stuck to the same one all the time."
Ohhhhhh no. This would not be easier with friends. Not his friends at least. Jaemin tried to imagine casting the stuff he'd learned with people like Haddie about... what if she distracted him and he ended up squishing them both? That would be terrible. He was sure there were some people he could rope into it, but it was easier to just... do it alone. Especially since most of his friends didn't know the things he liked to work on.
"Last term Professor Flamsteed taught me how to do the gravity thing from class... I wanted to try it out a few times to make sure I didn't forget over the summer, but you have to do it in an 'enclosed space' and if I did it in the common room, other people might get mad." Because they would be busy doing... you know... homework and stuff. "And I didn't quite get the bubble head thing all the way down, the one that Professor Primeaux taught me? So I was gonna try that as well."
Among... other things. He had a LIST. It too was hidden away in his pocket though, safe and sound. This was probably another good reason for him to not be in a room with any other twelve year olds when practicing... never knew when something might go wrong and then he'd have to help someone to the nearest professor to have some toes reattached or something. Heh. |

Heh. Jaemin was a cute kid. Probably up to no good, since he was sneaking around casting spells he deemed too dangerous to try out in the common room, but cute. And eager. And obviously smart, if he was able to master that spell.
"That room is fine," she nodded to the door she'd already indicated. "I'd like to see the gravity spell, honestly. Can you do it right here? This is... essentially enclosed." Other than how the halls stretched off in both directions away from them. "But you know, as far as doing it in the common room and annoying people... SOME of those people would find it extremely hilarious and that would make up for the annoyance of some of the others." In other words, he should try it sometime. Seriously.
"You're a little scary, kiddo. A word of advice? Don't trust Flamsteed. He's dangerous."

"You're a little scary, kiddo. A word of advice? Don't trust Flamsteed. He's dangerous." She wanted him to do the gravity spell for her? His prefect? His smarter, older, more magic-doing prefect? Jaemin felt a sudden rush of self-consciousness at that, and his little cheeks went a bit pink, but he felt at his pocket for his wand automatically. He could totally show it to you, Prefect Dot.
"I dunno how well it will work out here, cause I'm not very strong at magic yet, but I can try." So long as she really wanted him to, and wasn't just kidding. He grinned at her, bouncing a bit on the balls of his feet. "The professor said that the common room was a good place to try it cause it's so enclosed."
He wanted to get it to be a bit stronger before he went about casting it in the common room and making people float about though. He had to get it just right first.
"I'm scary?" He tilted his head thoughtfully, looking at her. "Why am I scary?"
And why was Flamsteed dangerous? He was one of Jaemin's favourite professors! Did Perfect Prefect Dot not like him for some reason? That would be so sad. So very very sad. The boy's expression fell a little.
"What do you mean, dangerous?" He couldn't be dangerous. All you had to do was touch his suit and he would fall over. In the world of video games, Airey Flamsteed was the first fight, not the final boss. Silly Prefect Dot. |

Little cutie ickle crumpled like waxed paper after the donut was gone, and it made all the heart strings strum at once for Dot. Like... she shouldn't care that she'd ruined this kid's day, but she did. She really did. Stupid prefecting was making her go all soft, and Slytherins didn't survive with soft bits. Made them easier to bruise.
"Give it a whirl," she leaned against the wall, legs crossed at the ankles. "And I don't mean scary in a bad way. But I mean that you're curious and clever and a little intense, and you're only a second year. I can only imagine what you'll be like as a third or fourth year. Seventh year! World domination. I like it. I should put money on you." Laying it on a little thick, Wojack.
She fiddled with the ends of her hair, brushing it across her palm, and considered her answer about Flammy. "Flamsteed. He's... he doesn't think about how his actions impact other people. That kind of selfishness makes a man very dangerous."

That kind of selfishness makes a man very dangerous." She really did want him to do it? Jaemin absently turned his wand in his fingers, looking up and down the hall. So long as he wasn't gonna get in trouble, he was sure it would be fine... if it even worked out here. There was a lot of space, and not the kind with zero gravity. He dug his hand into his pocket and pulled out the light tennis ball he'd gotten from Airey last term, and tossed it to the prefect as she leaned against the wall. She could check the gravity after he did the spell!
"I like learning new things. New magic especially. Haddie and I are gonna learn the Patronus Charm this term." He was DETERMINED. It took him a good long minute to realise that maybe his determination could probably be a little... well, scary. He held up his wand. "I'm gonna do the spell now. Watch, okay?"
So she could tell him if he did anything wrong.
The small boy pointed his wand straight up into the air, eyes flicking up to watch it as he started moving it around in a circle. This part he had worked on at home, but without his wand, so he wouldn't get in trouble. His timing was pretty great now! "Derivo Gravitatem."
One circle completed, as he finished speaking the spell.
"Derivo Gravitatem."
A second, this one with more force behind it. DETERMINATION. Just one more circle and spell... he had to get it right, so he could show Prefect Dot. MAXIMUM EFFORT!
"Derivo Gravitatem!"
The misty white light made its appearance again, and Jaemin grinned up at it excitedly before looking at Dot. Hopefully the openings at either end of the hall didn't break it... "Throw the ball up!"
He wasn't sure how to respond to the thing about Flamsteed being selfish. He liked the man, probably more than most of the professors in the school... he taught him stuff! Cool stuff! Nobody could be all that bad if they taught him cool stuff. |

He deserved it... plus she wanted to be vigilant in case everything went wrong and she was suddenly flinging upwards toward the ceiling. But no, it seemed to go off perfectly, or at least it didn't go horribly wrong.
She threw the ball to see if it went right, and it was a very pleasant surprise to Dot when the ball stayed in the air instead of arcing back to earth. Or maybe she shouldn't be surprised... Jaemin had obviously done this spell successfully before.
"The Patronus is tricky. You need the right memory and everything, but I bet you can do it. D'you already know what memory you'll use?" Dot was a seventh year and hadn't quite mastered her patronus... but she'd mastered other spells. It was a good trade, to her mind.

Dot was a seventh year and hadn't quite mastered her patronus... but she'd mastered other spells. It was a good trade, to her mind. He'd done it! Jaemin grinned excitedly as the ball stayed suspended before beginning its molasses-slow drift toward the ground. The hallway being open at either end hadn't messed it all up, thank Merlin. It would have totally sucked to embarrass himself in front of Prefect Dot.
He pushed himself off the floor, the gravity difference letting him shoot up, and he grabbed the ball as he headed up up up ever so nonchalantly toward the high ceiling. This... this was so much better than flying was, and less unnerving than being levitated about. He wasn't sure why, but it was much more comfortable for him. Maybe because there was no way for him to lose control.
"This is much better than last time!" he called down happily, nodding. "Last term I think I only got half as good as this to happen!"
Which memory? Jaemin bit his lip and held a hand up as he approached the ceiling, lightly pushing against it to send himself back down toward Prefect Dot. The memory thing was... difficult. He had a lot of happy times.
"When I got my Hogwarts letter, I think. That should work, right?" He hummed softly and tilted forward, absently rolling himself over in the air. "It made me really happy, cause it meant I could do all the cool stuff dad does."
He wasn't all that worried about how difficult it was to do. He knew that it was above his pay grade, which meant he probably wouldn't be able to do it for a good long while. But he'd manged the bubble-head charm, sorta, which meant he was SUPER GOOD at magic. Right? So maybe he could get it to work sooner rather than... you know... years down the line.
And pop.
Apparently having the open hallway was going to mess up his gravity pocket... because Jaemin very suddenly dropped to the floor. The small boy let out a squeak in surprise as his feet hit, and he fell forward, hands shooting out to catch himself. Stupid AIR.

Angel was totally confused about the whole situation and she didn't like the way her sister was looking.

This wasn't part of the plan, she went over and sat down next to her and started to give her a pat on the back. "Please don't cry." Angel was now trying to figure out who the voices were. The only thing that Angel wanted to know was where was a Professor when you wanted one.

"Okay I think we need a professor" Angel looked at the wall. "And we need to get this paint of the wall before anyone sees it."

The small boy let out a squeak in surprise as his feet hit, and he fell forward, hands shooting out to catch himself. Stupid AIR. "That should work, yeah." Dot watched the boy flying through the air with only the slightest pang of jealousy. She'd have to see if she could get Dima or someone to try out that spell with her. For NEWT reasons, obviously. "And if it doesn't, the good part is that you get to keep trying. It isn't like you have to pick one happy thought and stick with it forever." Dot was of the opinion it was more about intent than the thought, anyway, but... what did she know?
She shot up from her spot against the wall as Jaemin fell, and although there was no way to reach him in time, she grabbed him before he toppled all the way to the floor. Merlin, what if he'd broken something? Imagine having to explain that to the Healer lady. "You okay? That was so good! And I didn't even realize you could make yourself anti-grav like that too... you were flying!" She brushed him off and straightened him up. He was fine, right?
