So many a door and so many a bore chore are found on this, the second floor. Between the Arithmancy classroom and the Headmaster's Office are several doors, nooks, and crannies... so what's not to explore on this legendary floor?
Isabella was still pretty determined to explore every nook and cranny of the castle, both as a preventative to continuously getting lost and as an attempt to determine whether the hidden swimming pool actually existed or not. Walking along the second floor corridor, she peered into every open door and even peeked behind a few tapestries in hopes of finding the passage to the secret swimming pool. She was being so thorough in her search that she moved maybe five steps in as many minutes, much slower than she normally walked. Innocent as the little first year was, she had no idea that she looked incredibly suspicious as she moved along the corridor.

Skylar had somehow found herself with a free hour after lunch, which meant she could spend some time exploring her new home for the next seven years. She knew from her parents and siblings and friends that Hogwarts contained MANY mysteries, but she didn't know what they were. Somehow they her older friends and family members didn't think it was appropriate to tell her WHAT she should find. Like they expected her to do some legwork in finding things out on her own. It was okay though; she was up for some exploring and adventures.
Walking curiously along the second floor corridor, which she knew to be home to the Arithmancy classroom and Headmaster's suite, that was when the slytherin noticed she wasn't alone. A young girl she recognized from her sorting, as being placed in Hufflepuff who seemed to be searching for something more than just 'finding her way around'.
"Moving that slowly, professors might think you're up to something," Sky said cautiously, so as to not startle the girl, too badly at least.

Isabella heard a voice. She turned around and saw a girl who looked vaguely familiar. Noticing the girl's badge, Isabella knew it wasn't from seeing her around the common room. Hmm. Maybe she saw her during the sorting or something? Isabella wasn't sure, but the girl certainly looked like she might be a first year also.
Isabella beamed at the girl. "I'm not up to anything!" she said. "I'm just...exploring? Looking for someplace I heard about." She didn't know this girl, so she didn't want to tell her about the hidden swimming pool. If she told everybody what she was looking for, the pool wouldn't be a secret anymore, and by the time she found it, it would be crowded all the time.
"Do I know you from somewhere?" she asked. The girl looked familiar, so maybe Isabella looked familiar to the girl, too. "I'm Isabella."
Okay so... Jaemin was not proud of himself. He'd spent an extended amount of time after Charms class trying to figure out the colour-changing spell that Primeaux had taught them, but it had been such a frustrating class and so strongly disliked it that he just... hadn't managed to get it. Nothing he tried made it work. So the small Sytherin might have thrown his notes across the dorm in annoyance and left them in the corner for a while, ignoring them stalwartly while going about everything else in his everyday life.
However, it bothered him that he couldn't do that spell. It bothered him so much that he'd finally picked up the notes and gone wandering the castle, a handful of random items his pockets as he looked for somewhere to practice it. Clearly the dorm had not been conducive to his learning it... so this corridor would have to do. The small Slytherin tucked himself into one of the many nooks along the hall, sitting on the floor and setting his notes between his spread out legs and fishing in his pocket for his test items.
A small green rubber ball, a pink plastic coated paperclip, a rosebud that had broken off of the rose plant Professor Myers had given to him, a purple miniature stuffed alpaca plushie wearing a tophat... all small things that should be easy to work with. He put them on top of his notes, looking from them to where the spell and wand movement were written down. It was supposed to be easy enough... but whenever he thought about it, and about the class, he got so frustrated that it just didn't want to work.
He could feel the frustration setting in again, before he'd even started, and Jaemin let out a sigh. He wanted to make it work... he had to make it work. He pulled his wand out of his pocket and practiced the wand movement a few times, trying to clear his head. If he could just... focus on the spell alone... he could get it to work. It would WORK.
"Colovaria," he murmured, pointing his wand at the purple alpaca. He wanted it to turn green... but it stayed very stubbornly purple. He frowned, gripping his wand a little tighter, and tried again, voice a bit more forceful. "Colovaria!"
NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING. This was all art's fault. If it weren't for art... he would be just fine with this spell... The small boy pointed his wand at the ball and, rather snappishly, gave the spell another try in the direction of the paperclip... and was greeted with another failure.
He hated this. Hated it. Stupid art. Stupid magic. Stupid spell. Jaemin let out a long sigh and leaned back against the wall, moving to run a hand through his hair. Maybe he just... needed something even smaller to work with? Something extremely basic. Maybe he could just... do it on a single hair, or something. Those were small and wouldn't take much effort. Right? The small Slytherin touched his hair, separating off a single strand and holding it up. His eyes crossed a little as he looked up at it, and he pointed his wand at it. He was fairly sure this wasn't going to work, just like everything else... but it was worth a shot.
"Colovaria."
He was fully prepared for disappointment, so when the strand went very soft and pink, all he could do was blink in surprise. It had worked? He tugged the hair, pulling it out with a slight twinge, and blinked at it. He'd been going for green, but... any colour change worked, really. Any colour change was progress.
Unfortunately, this colour change hadn't been limited to just the hair he'd cast at... but rather, his entire head. He didn't notice, because he was too busy examining the pink strand he'd plucked... but all of his hair had gone a very soft, pastelly pink.

Alice was just exploring. She was determined to see the whole castle and knew she hadn't quite yet. Even in her second year there were new things to see. Like kids with pink hair! That was pink right?
it was a pretty bold choice for the boy, But the Gryffindor loved it!
"Nice hair!" Her tone was very complimentary and Alice Lupin didn't give compliments lightly. Especially about Hair. She walked over to the boy and looked down at him. The lanky redhead let her blue eyes look him over. He was familiar. Probably in her year or something but for sure a different house. "I'm Alice by the way." Because she knew that 'Nice hair' isn't exactly a great introduction.
"So's your hair always pink or did you just make it like that now?" Cause like what if he was born with Pink hair? That would be the coolest! At least for him.. She liked her hair red personally.

Nice... what?
Jaemin looked up from examining the single hair he'd pulled, gaze settling on the kinda bubbly redhead in confusion. But only for a moment, because looking up meant that the hair over his forehead was now more visible to himself, and... oh no. The diminutive Slytherin's eyes went wide, and he touched the soft pinkness hesitantly.
"Ahh, really?!" he blurted out, giving it a light tug. That was definitely his hair... and it was pink. He couldn't get the spell to turn the small alpaca a different colour, or even a rubber ball, but of course when he tried it on himself, it would work. And work better than he had hoped it would. "This wasn't supposed to happen."
How frustrating. He sighed and gave it another tug, cheeks going a brighter pink than his hair had gone as he tried to smile at the girl. Alice. At least she was being nice about it... it probably looked really silly. It would have looked silly in any colour that wasn't his regular brown.
"I'm Jaemin..." he bit his lip, holding up his wand. "I was trying to do the colour-changing spell from class, but I couldn't make it work... and I was trying to make it green, and only make one green, but..."

Alice tried not to seem amused with this.. but it was a little bit funny. This boy accidentally turned all his hair pink. But she wasn't going to laugh and make him feel bad. Nope. That would be awful and it didn't look bad so he shouldn't feel bad.
"Well.. do you know the spell to make it go back?" Because she wasn't going to pretend that she did. She knew what she needed to but that was about it. Jaemin.. That was a different name. She would have said he looked like a 'Timothy'. "Nice to meet you, Jaemin." She thought for a moment. "So you wanted Green hair?"

He wasn't really sure there was a specific counterspell to this. The professor hadn't really... mentioned, had he? Jaemin snatched up his notes from between his knees, dropping the miniature stuffed alpaca, paperclip, and rubber ball on the floor as he squinted at the page. There wasn't a whole lot on the page - notes about the spells they'd learned that day, a few small annotations about how much he hated the lesson, and a few jab marks from annoyance... no notes about countering it though.
"I think I just have to use the same spell to make it the right colour again," he said hesitantly, frowning. "I didn't want all of it to be green, either. Just the one... I figured a hair would be easier than something bigger, and I couldn't get it to work at all."
And now it had worked too well. The small boy grumbled in annoyance and held up his wand, pointing it at himself. If it had decided it was going to work, then he would just turn it back. "Colovaria."
He wanted to be surprised when it didn't turn out as he expected. He really did. But he wasn't, because he hadn't been trying for pink when he'd landed on that in the first place. The boy looked at Alice, clearly unimpressed with himself, and touched his hair again. This was embarrassing. The most embarrassing. This sucked.

Alice curiously watched Jaemin go through his things and papers.. He seemed very upset by all of this and possibly embarrassed. She was glad that she was the one who had seem him like this and not someone mean who might make fun of him.
But then he tried the spell again as she watched and when all his hair turned blonde her mouth opened a little. Again it didn't look bad. "Well.. I'm not sure what your normal color is.. but at least it looks cool?" Cause she thought he at least looked unique if nothing else. "Maybe we should ask a Professor? They could help? I bet Professor Paul knows how to change it." Maybe he didn't, Alice figured he would though. She'd known Paul Myers since she was a baby and he seemed to know all manner of weird things. So why not this?

At least she wasn't laughing at him. Though he wasn't sure if the expression on her face was good or not, and he didn't know her well enough at all to know if she was being serious when she said it looked cool. He was inclined to believe she was being nice about it, because he was pretty sure it looked silly. He'd never had anything but his natural hair colour, so he was sure others would just look weird.
"It's usually brown," he whispered, running a hand through it and mussing it up. At least... if more than one hair was going to turn colours, it had been all of them. As far as he was aware. When she suggested going to the professors, he shook his head vehemently. "No... I don't want to bother them or have anyone else do it. I want to fix it myself."
...Professor Paul?
He looked up at the girl again, giving her a light smile. "I gotta figure it out for myself. I have to make the spell work on my own."
Hopefully before too many people saw him with ridiculous hair colours. He had classes to go to tomorrow...

"You're in Gryffindor, right?"
Alice could clearly see he didn't believe her. Was she not being convincing enough? She figured that if she tried to be convincing it would seem like she didn't believe it herself. Which she did! But he didn't know her well enough to know that she could be horribly critical.
All this talk of hair caused her to run her fingers through her own hair and shrugged, looking at the strand of red in her hand. "That sounds like a bit more trial and error." Because honesty his first few attempts hadn't gone nearly as planned. "There's nothing wrong with asking for help, you know? They're here to teach us crap." She shrugged. Honestly why else would teachers be around?

"Yeah, Second Year Gryffindor. You?"
"Professor Primeaux already told me all the stuff I need to know to make it work. I just... must not be doing it right." He shrugged one shoulder, looking at his notes again and wrinkling his nose. "I have a hard time focusing on this spell... usually I do really good with stuff like this."
He just had to center himself. Do some... stretches, or something. Loosen himself up and get the whole 'art' angle out of his head, because he was pretty sure that was why he was struggling so hard with it. Everyone else had been able to do it almost immediately, even kids who were younger than he. He was the only one he knew that couldn't get it to work right...
So clearly Primeaux had taught it well enough, and it was just him having trouble with it.
Ahhh. She was a Gryffindor. Jaemin had, as of late, started picking up small cues from his classmates that gave him hints as to which house they were in. Not always right, but... sometimes it was accurate. It was fun to experiment with it. Just the way Alice spoke gave him the vaguest of Gryffindor vibes... he'd have to make a note of being right about that.
"I'm a Slytherin," he supplied with a nod. "Second year too."
Much smaller than all the others still, which was depressing... but a second year nonetheless.

Alice shrugged cause she wasn't sure what to say or how to help here cause she would never change her hair color on purpose. Her red hair was far too precious to her to change it. Because what would she even change it to?
But then she remembered this wasn't about her. it was about Jaemin. "Maybe you just need to concentrate? Do i need to be quieter or something?Just pretend i'm not here." She grinned and nodded. "You remind me of my brother. He's a Slytherin too. Name's Oliver." Slytherin's were an odd bunch, they cared about the strangest things.

"So we're in the same year!" She sounded excited.
Ohhhh, now he might have made her think that she was distracting him. She totally wasn't, and Jaemin shook his head. "It doesn't have anything to do with you, I couldn't do it before anyway. No matter how quiet it was or if nobody was around or anything."
Her brother was a Slytherin? A Slytherin named Oliver? He only knew one Slytherin who was named Oliver... but he wasn't sure if that was the right Oliver. How many Olivers could there be in Slytherin? Especially Slytherins that reminded her of him.
"Is your brother a third year? I have a friend named Olly who's a third year." They hadn't really talked too much in-depth about their families... Jaemin knew that Olly had two dads, but he couldn't remember if they'd talked about siblings, so maybe he did have a Gryffindor sister who was Jaemin's age. He never thought much about other peoples' siblings, because he didn't have any of his own.
Yet. Someday, hopefully. Maybe.
"We are." he nodded. "Is that a good thing?"
Did he have many friends in his own year? He hadn't ever considered that, and he suddenly found himself going over them in his head.
