The restricted section of the library is as the name implies restricted. In this roped off and locked section you will find old fragile books and tomes. Some of the texts are dark and dangerous and therefore cannot be kept where just anyone can get a hold of them. Should you need to access to this area to retrieve a book, you need to seek out the librarian; Mr Kitridge with a signed permission slip from a professor. This will allow you to obtain the book you need.
Do not enter the restricted section without permission . It is not advisable and any students found in the restricted section without permission will be punished. Mr Kitridge is happy to help but some books are just dangerous and too dark.
Nicky was poking around the library when the Restricted Section caught her eye. Careful to stay on the correct unrestricted side of the ropes and locks, the Ravenclaw none-the-less walked along the perimeter considering what sorts of things might be locked up in there.
Clacking the lollipop in her hand against her teeth, Nicky paced along the edge, always making sure that she could defend herself by saying she hadn't gone in. What did this school deem too dangerous to be out in the open? You could tell a lot about a place or a person by what they tried to forbid.

The Library was a welcome respite for Nana. Not too quiet, not too secluded, but just enough of each that when she ventured in for extra reading materials she could find peace, quiet and pleasurable company if she was so inclined, though, that was rather rare.
Heels clicking across the floor, arms full of age-old scripts, books with faded titles and an expertly placed scroll, Nana looked every bit the over-thinking professor on a mission. A stereotype she usually avoided at all costs, but sometimes you couldn't avoid looking the part.
And besides, she had bigger worries-
Case in point, the Ravenclaw with the foul mouth who seemed far too keen on the restricted section. "Looking for something, Miss Iver?" Nana asked, stopping near the young woman, and taking a moment to silently appraise her.

Nicky could hear the click-clacking of the heels on the floor long before they stopped near her and she heard her name on the professor's tongue. Nicky's back was to the woman, and so her eye roll was quite concealed as she continued to suck on her lollipop. Turning on her heel, the rubber of her boots squeaking on the floor as she did so, Nicky rolled her tongue over the candy in her mouth, stick poking out from between her lips.
Her Castelobruxo badge still obscured the Ravenclaw crest, though today, her skirt was not nearly as short as it could have been. It still wasn't proper length, but it wasn't a blatant alteration. She looked at Professor Ichihara as if trying to divine something of the woman's purpose or mood, her darkly-lined eyes the only thing moving.
After a moment of rather exaggerated twists of her lollipop, Nicky popped the candy out of her mouth. Audibly. "Nothing in particular, Professor," she said, a forced saccharine quality to her voice. She held the lollipop aloft, insincere smile plastered on her face.

Nana had a small list.
Nothing to worry or obsess over, just a simple list and a small set of files with certain students' names and information carefully catalogued away for her personal use. So far, Nicky Iver had not made that list, but Nana assumed that would change.
Nana eyed the sucker, the improper manner of the young girl's skirt and the dark rimmed eyes and she was tuck with the image of a Ganguro Girl she had known in her younger years, the image was enough to bring a sparkle of amusement to the older witch's eye, but her lips remained politely curved as ever. "Curiosity is such a difficult impulse to master, isn't it?" She said, her tone light as if discussing the weather and not a potentially dangerous portion of a very magical library. "I always find myself taking extra pains not to venture too deep into murky waters.... "

Was she just here to harass Nicky? The girl popped her candy back into her mouth as she considered the appearance and speech of the professor. Did she have a point? Would she be getting to it soon?
And there it was. Nicky slurped on the lollipop, mostly to annoy the professor, before pulling it out again.
"But, you'll notice I stayed on the right side of all of it." She nodded to the rope that sectioned off the supposedly dangerous knowledge. But Nicky didn't think that knowledge itself was dangerous, just what people did with it. So really... the existence of the restricted section betrayed a profound lack of trust in the student body. She might be all attitude and eyeliner right now, but there was some thinking that went on in there, too.
Nicky let her eyes drop to the piles that the Professor was carrying. "Don't let me keep you from your work."

In other words, go away now?
Defensive. Interesting.
"I did, indeed, take that into account, but was kind of you to point it out, Miss Iver." Nana said, still with that polite tone to her clear, soft voice. Ravenclaws... They had such a capacity for trouble, in fact, Nana was beginning to believe they were on the same level of Gryffindors in this manner.
Tch, Gryffindors.
"I could use a break... Besides, I've realized I need something just beyond this velvet rope." She paused, clearing her thoughts. "Why don't you follow along with me and give me a hand?" Nana turned once again to face the Brazilian transfer.

Professors. They had such a capacity for patronizing. She shrugged at the comment, biting the last bit of her lollipop until nothing was left but the stick, which she continued to let dangle from between her lips. She was waiting for the professor to leave, when the woman started to speak again. Nicky was getting tired of this.... maybe she should just..
Wait, WHAT? Was she serious? "So, you're, like, my human permission slip if Mr.." Nicky paused, needing to remember his actual name, and take the stick out of her mouth. She'd been calling him Mr. Nitwit in her head, for no other reason than it amused her, but she needed to make sure that didn't come flying out her mouth. "Mr. Kitridge asks?" Nicky stuck the stick back in her mouth, freeing up her hands to remove the rope for the professor to walk through.
Taking a big breath in Peeves flew into the library and straight for the restricted section. New term meant new fun. He had a bone to pick with Mr. Books and he was going to pick it today.
"New term, new term, newbie, newbie new term"
Flying through each of the shelves he pushed books to ground cackling every time one screamed or screeched as it hit the floor.

Right place, right time, it seemed.
Slipping a hand through her dark, smooth hair. Nana grasped the handle of her Acacia wand and pulled it from it's holding place behind her delicate, bejeweled ear - a bad habit from her younger years - She gave the wand a fluid swish and flick in the direction of her little stack of books and papers. Immediately, they rose into the air, levitating just behind the Professor, seemingly waiting on her next command.
Nana raised an eyebrow as the younger witch took a moment longer than necessary in mentioning Mister Kitteridge. She glanced toward the desk of the librarian, intent only on seeing if the man were around, before returning her gaze to Miss Iver. "As you so colorfully put it, Miss Iver, yes." There was no harm in bringing the student along, she could not snatch anything while Nana was so present, and on the other hand the elder witch would be damned if she allowed something as simple as a book to harm a member of her class.
It was perfectly harmless. She stepped past the border of the restricted section and waved Miss Iver along, when the girl had indeed, stepped forward, Nana gave her wand another flick and the books followed in after them. "We're headed to the Alchemical section first, stay close, please." She instructed, walking with purpose.
Naturally this was the moment Peeves came cackling by.
really, beautiful timing, as always.
Nana barely raised an eye to the poltergeist... As much as she wanted to slip away and avoid the brute, she couldn't with any real conscious. "Peeves, really now, don't you have a wife to languish with affection?" She said, her tone as dry as the Sahara during a drought.
Where was Kitteridge? Considering the library was his domain, Nana assumed he would be the one to take care of this business.

Nicky watched as the pile of books levitated. She'd been certain that the price of admission would be her carrying the professor's things. Relieved that this was not the case, she followed along.
"Alchemy?" she asked, following behind. "That hardly seems dangerous". Nicky couldn't fathom why they would be worth of restriction. Her eyes scanned the other sections, though, curious what other things were kept away from the student body at large.
Her observations, and all forward motion, ceased, however, when Peeves came crashing through. "What the..." Nicky ducked behind a shelf and pressed her body up against it, as books fell on the place where she had been standing. Her instinct was to make a run for it, before anyone could blame her for what was occurring. But that impulse quickly flittered away when she realized two things. The first -- there was not a clear escape route. And the second -- Professor Ichihara knew she hadn't done anything wrong.
Professor Ichihara.... Merlin... In the initial flurry, Nicky had ducked down a different aisle and separated herself from the older woman.
"Pro-Professor?" she called out hesitatingly. Was the woman near by? Nicky tried to edge around the corner of the shelf to look.
People wanted to play? Peeves cackled and pulled books from the top shelf down on top of them. "Shouldn't be in here without Mr. Library you shouldn't. Going to get yourself in trouble for messing up his books." Maybe that was just peeves he got mean with.
Was that a book with teeth? What a perfect one to throw at the girl.
"Watch out below"

Was Leo's initial reaction as he heard his restricted section alarm go off and not stopping. Oh why in blazing Merlin's feathered socks couldn't the students get through their thick heads that the restricted section was OFF LIMITS? And for perfectly valid good reasons?
Grabbing his wand he pulled at his dark curls in agitation as he with a flick of his wand in step, turned off the alarm. Oh merlin please don't let someone have injured my precious darlings Leo thought as he raced towards the restricted section his staff robes billowing behind him. Please for all things sacred let there be no FIREEEEEEEEEEE!
Coming into the section Leo's eyes darted around in despair and increasing agitation at the sight of his precious books lying on the floor. Poor, poor things. His big saucer shaped eyes then zoned in on Nana of all people standing near the alchemy section talking to PEEEEEEEEEEEVES.
His agitation mixed with pure anger now rose as Leo stomped over and turned his eyes to the poltergeist hovering over the bookcases, cackling and pulling down books. "PEEVES! I've told you to not come in here! Get out! My precious books can't handle you making a mess of them! Go and hassle someone else or even better go write an ode to your new beloved!" He did not want him there. The destruction Peeves could cause in there he didn't want to think about.
Turning his attention to Nana Leo asked in a hushed tone. "What are you looking for in the restricted section Professor Ichiara? You know very well how I feel about unscheduled visits in here." He was totally oblivious to the fact that Nana had brought along a student to the roped off section of the library and an EAGLE at that.
One moment she was walking along with Miss Iver, all too happy to discuss the more dangerous methods of alchemy with the Ravenclaw, and then the next moment books were raining down on her like one dollar bills in a muggle rap video like someone's strange idea of a rainstorm, while Peeves continued to float over her head, cackling in a manner akin to a jackal.
Another of the perks of being a Professor at the ever illustrious Hogwarts, school of neutral chaos.
"Miss I-" Nana, about to call the fleeing young woman back to her side, was cut off as a particularly large and heavy tome hit her squarely between the shoulder blades, causing the woman to let out s soft oof!. She stooped over, an uncharacteristic scowl dashing across her pale features.
She took in a deep breath, composing herself as best she could. It would not do to get angry over a prank from a ghost, especially not in the presence of students. They needed a proper example of how adults behaved in foolish situations like these. Straightening, Nana grimaced as a sharp pain shot through her back. "Mochiron." She muttered under her breath. Nurse, definitely needed to see the nurse after this-
First she needed to find miss Iver and alert Mister Kitridge, and then-
And as quickly as she had thought of him, the man had appeared. Nana waited, her hand on her lower back for support, for Mister Kitteridge to finish his yelling, but to her surprise, the man's attention, once placed on herself was set to reprimand rather than assist. "Ichihara." She replied, her tone not quite cold, but certainly far from warm. "I know nothing of the sort, Mister Kitridge. I was under the impression that as a member of staff I had free-reign to venture into the restricted section without permission." Nana's tone remained steady, cool and polite, her expression as calm as ever.
She felt demeaned, she felt undermined and she decidedly did not enjoy the implication that she had behaved in such a manner as to induce this attack.
"Perhaps a charm should be placed on this section to keep Peeves out? I'm surprised you hadn't thought to implement something of the sort... I am loathe to think what would happen if he got his grubby fingers on certain books in your catalogue, Mister Kitridge." Those who did not know Nana well would not for a million centuries have guessed that the woman was displeased, a trait she had perfected after many years of suffering through frustrating circumstances. "Miss Iver was with me, did you see where she went?" Perhaps he had been too busy considering his books to recognize the human element in this equation.
Merlin, her back was killing her.

Nicky peeked around the bookshelf again as she thought she heard Professor Ichihara calling to her. But instead of the Transfiguration professor, Nicky was greeted by a book flying right at her. A book with teeth! As it grazed her arm, tearing her robes but not her skin, Nicky decided she had had enough.
Kitridge had appeared and with the way he was speaking, Nicky no longer trusted that Professor Ichihara's permission could protect her. Her gaze flitted about, trying to assess, when quite thankfully, the little beastie decided to merely taunt the professor and depart.
"To hell with this..." she muttered under her breath as she made a rapid dash for the exit to the section. Sprinting at full speed, she did not hear Ichihara ask Kitridge if he'd seen her.
And she would not stop if called for.

Tossing a bigger book at Mr. Library he swooped out of the room.

Dodging the book that Peeves tossed at him Leo quickly cast the levitation spell to stop the book from falling to the floor and getting damaged on impact. He was glad when the poltergeist swooped out of the library to find someone else to badger with his antics.
Raising the book, he took it in his arms and held it to his chest as his thoughts tumbled over themselves and his head throbbed because of his despair, agitation and anger. As Nana spoke to defend herself and her actions he felt that he needed to explain why he was so upset even if he honestly just wanted to flail his arms and shed a few tears at the book mess. Taking several breath's to calm himself, Leo didn't respond until he believed he could talk in a calm tone. "I'm sorry, it is true that usually professors don't need permission to venture into the restricted section. I recently changed that however because I came back after summer break to find the restricted section looking like a war zone. Books had been thrown about and bookcases had been lying on the side with shelves torn out almost as if someone had been looking for something in the dangerous plants section, but not found it." Seeing that had been a stab to his heart. It had rocked his core.
Distractedly Leo ran a hand lovingly over the spine of the book he was holding as he continued talking. "So this is the second time in a short while that the library has been attacked and thus it caused me to react badly and take it out on you which I truly apologize for." At Nana's suggestion of charms he wanted to laugh at loud, but didn't. Leo just shook his head and said "I doubt it'd do any good. Peeves always get in no matter what i do. If I add any more security spells in here then I will rival Gringotts." Soon the only thing he was lacking to guard the books was a dragon.
In the corner of his eye he saw Ms Iver dash for the safety of the general library. His yelling had probably scared her off or Peeves or both. Gesturing towards the exit he said to Nana. "You don't have to worry about Ms Iver, she just ran for the exit."
Still cradling the book he walked past Nana and over the messy piles of books on the floor to put the book back where it belonged and sighed out. "Why does all these precious books have to be such a target...?"

Still cradling the book he walked past Nana and over the messy piles of books on the floor to put the book back where it belonged and sighed out. "Why does all these precious books have to be such a target...?"
Nana was compiling a list of strikes in her head against Mister Kitridge as he spoke. Strike one; He had publicly admonished her for something as simple as walking into a place she had every reason to be in. Strike two, the man had not only pronounced her name incorrectly for what felt like the hundredth time, but had failed to apologize or acknowledge his fault. Strike three, he had not checked on the student in this scenario, but instead worried himself over the (perfectly fine) books. Strike four, he had not deigned it important to ask whether she was injured. The list could have gone on and on, and on, but Nana stopped it there and then.
"You should have made a notice, mister Kitridge. That is the correct way to go about rule changes, especially amongst one's colleagues." Nana stretched out her limbs as best she could, but her back still ached terribly and the action only caused another mild, but not pleasant jolt of pain to hit her. "She raised an eyebrow. "Someone snuck into the restricted section over the summer?" She had, whilst pro trolling last term heard some ruckus coming from the place, but had not seen signs of any trouble when she'd looked in. "I there any evidence of whom might be the culprit?" It could not have been a student, but Peeves and his... wife, were certainly capable of something of the kind.
The apology was not much enjoyed, Nana nodded coolly. "It would be better to think twice before you speak next time." Ravenclaws were supposed to be the clever, thoughtful ones, weren't they, after all? Hm. "Perhaps a curse, then." She distractedly said, craning her neck in search of Miss Iver-
..... Run off?
Run off?
In the name of all things- "That is all the more reason to worry for her!" She said, unable at last to keep her emotions at bay. "Mister Kiteridge, I really must leave you, I am afraid, to your books alone. I cannot in good conscience leave a young girl alone and scared on her own." Nana gave the man a soft bow of her head - PAIN - before turning on her heel and walking, as quickly as her back would allow, out of the library and after Miss Iver.

"Booook." The blank Hadley Denaker mumbled, slowly. "Booooook here?" The girl stumbled into the restricted area. Half of the library had been deshelved already. "Boook? Find..." The first book in the restricted section was yanked down with uncoordinated hands. "Not boooook." Drop. Again and again and again, book after book after book. Shelf after shelf in the Restricted Area was stripped of its books.
And in the center of it, wading through the piles of books she was leaving in her wake, without concern or care for the state of the books, was Hadley. She was oblivious to everything but the next book and the next book after that. All that mattered was finding the book. Finding it and bringing it. All that mattered.
Book...
Where was Mr. Kitridge while his library and books were being ransacked slowly by his biggest headache? Surely he would realize something was happening now that she'd entered the restricted area.

Searching... still searching...
Esme moves stiffly as she hunts for book. Has to be somewhere. Not outside so needs to be somewhere here. Lots of books but none of them are right. Where is right book?
"Find book..."
Esme sees many of them but they are not right either. Pulls them from shelf as she keeps looking. "Wrong book," Plopping another one on the ground without thought. Not important. Only book important.

Must find...
Kay was a big fan of books. Everyone knew that or at least most of them did. She was here to pick out a few for her recreational reading and being with friends with Leo, she was looking for him to get some recommendations. She hadn't seen him when she arrived but she did notice lots of students milling about. It warmed her heart to see them studying or researching for homework.
Then there was that voice saying something about finding a book. Kay peeked about and spotted Esme or Juno just in time putting a book on the ground. "Ms Darcy! Do you need a particular book? If you do, you need to seek Mr Kitridge's help since you don't seem to be finding it. Also, may I ask why you're dropping those books on the floor?''

Tut tut. Books did not long on the floor.
Hear voice but do not stop.
Esme on mission. Nothing matters besides finding book and she will not stop until she has it. Here somewhere.... It is here. But where? Where is it?
More books pile on the floor. None spell book. Will not stop looking until she has it.

Well, this was awkward. There was no response from the twin except if you counted her pulling more books to the floor. Kay decided this was quite enough. Poor Leo would have a fit if he saw his precious book strewn all across the floor like this. "You're looking for a particular book, Ms Darcy? I have a good idea where it may be.'' She hated lying but something was clearly wrong. Had Ms Darcy's brain become addled somehow?
"If you'll follow me, please.'' Kay took a few steps away, hoping the twin would follow. "The book's this way. Come on,'' she coaxed as she took a few more steps. Where were they going? To the hospital wing, Kay hoped.
