Default Ravenclaw House Table

The house elves have been hard at work, leaving the Great Hall spotless, the tables set with pristine silverware, and delicious smells floating up from the kitchen. Your stomach might be growling, but it isn't quite time to eat yet.

Hopefully, the new Headmaster will make an appearance before you chew your way through your House table. Has anyone seen him yet?

Penelope was here and ready for all the new firsties she would be taking under her wing. She had a notebook out and ready for writing down the names of new Ravenclaws. Apparently there was a new headmaster at Hogwarts. It would be interesting to find out what ideas the new headmaster could bring. For now she was going to check on the Ravenclaws who were already here.

"Hi Haddie!" Penelope looked over Haddie's clothes, out of uniform except for the robes that Rooney had given to her. "Why don't you have your uniform? " There was nothing scolding about this remark, just genuine curiosity. She sensed that something was up with Haddie, and this wasn't just a rebellious act. If Haddie was trying to defy school rules, she wouldn't have willingly put on Rooney's robes.

Azura! Penelope loved all the little eagles, and Azura had been the first student Penelope had helped as a prefect, when Azura had broken her nose at the train platform. Something seemed off about Azura tonight. "Hi Azura. Anything you want to talk about later?" If she didn't feel like talking that was okay.

Once there were more students at the table, Penelope moved to stand at the end of the table where everyone could see her. "Welcome back everyone! For those of you who are new here, welcome to Ravenclaw! I'm Penelope Wright, your Head Girl. You can come to me with any questions or concerns, and feel free to talk to me about anything any time. Last year we won both the house cup and the gobstones championship, and I'm proud of all of you for that. Let's try to make this year another great year!" Now she should go find Professor Flamsteed, wherever he was.

His first act as Prefect around the students of his house... He'd have to write home straight away to tell Mama about it. Luckily, Haddie took the robes from him despite the size difference. Nothing a few charms couldn't fix, but he could sort that later for her. And he was about to ask where her uniform was when Miss Penelope turned up. Roo offered the Head Girl a smile, gave her arm a squeeze too in extra congratulations because she was clearly about to address her house as their Head Girl. Miss Penelope Wright, Head Girl of Hogwarts. Their Head Girl. Well deserved.

Penelope asked the question that he had wanted to and so Roo waited for the younger Ravenclaw to ask. And in that time, he rolled up the sleeves on the robes she was wearing so she would be able to eat a little later without getting them dirty. He noted her congratulations on his badge, and figured this gesture was enough of a thank you.

"Thank you, Miss Katherine." He smiled, turning his head to look towards her. This time he had a badge and she wasn't able to witness him soaked from a toilet and furiously blushing and crying. The everything was in his way right now. He was coming out on top. Soz, Moss. The exchange between the two girls didn't get past him and he only raised an eyebrow. It wasn't cause to question or comment, nothing bad was happening and he knew neither of them would retaliate by crying. They could handle it.

Miss Janelle got a smile and a wave, tossing her a wrapped mint from his pocket to tide over the wait for food. See, he knew what people were struggling with when everyone was gathered in this hall, staring down upon the staff table and waiting for everything to fall into place and food to turn up so they could go to bed with full stomachs. The best nights sleep of the year...unless people were going to sleep after getting to kiss Miss Charlotte Kettleburn for the first time. THAT had been the best nights sleep of his life. And he hadn't been able to sleep at all that night. He'd just wanted to go find her again and give her that fish he had been holding onto. And maybe steal another of her kisses.

For lip gloss reasons. She had gooooood lip gloss.

... Was it good Prefect behaviour to run over to Gryffindor table and give her a kiss just to see what gloss she was wearing today?

No. No it was not.

BUT ALL HE COULD THINK ABOUT WAS THAT LIP GLOSS AND HOW HE NEEEEEEDED TO KNOW WHAT FLAVOUR IT WAAAAAS.

Deep breath... Deep breath... Ooh new student looking lost!

Placing his hands on Louise's shoulders, Rooney smiled before sitting down beside her, back against the table so he could get back up when he wanted or needed to. "The plates won't bite, kid." He looked towards the end of the table and smiled as Penelope spoke. "Our Head Girl might though. She's pretty wonderful."

Fourth Year
Default Clara, mentions Kitty

SPOILER!!: Clara
[color=RoyalBlue]After the quick interaction with Hadley, Clara felt proud of herself for not becoming (completely) clueless when it came to social cues. It had been one of her biggest weaknesses as a child, not being able to even talk to others without having a mental breakdown. It was such a relief when she starting working on that. Sighing about what just happened, Clara began to mentally prepare herself for the coming year, thinking of the classes, the professors...but mostly the upcoming feast, which was making her stomach grumble noisily.

Suddenly, interrupting the hunger rumblings, Clara noticed a boy walking slowly towards her. She did not recognize him as easily as she recognized Hadley. Somehow his face looked slightly familiar, as if she had spotted him in the halls one time. Or it could have been someone else, perhaps. The boy was getting closer and Clara looked around for another face he might have been aiming for, but all the other students were engrossed in conversation. So yes, the boy was indeed walking up to her.

The boy asked if he could sit with her. He sounded like a nice person, judging by the tone of his speech. Clara let about a millisecond go by, trying not to overthink things before she nodded politely. "Yes, you can sit here! I'm Clara and um, I don't think we've met, but you're in Ravenclaw, so...what's your name?" Clara said, awaiting his response.

Sabbath grinned at Clara, “Thanks, no, we haven’t met, Nice to meet you Clara”, he said as he climbed into the bench seat beside her. “I’m Sabbath” He offered his hand, taking hers in his and raising it briefly to his lips. “I couldn’t leave a fellow Ravenclaw sitting here looking so lonely, could I” He smiled, “especially such a pretty one” he added, glancing at her with amusement.

At that moment, Sabbath saw Kitty pass by the table and returned her wave with a smile ”Hola, Kitty” he called as she passed, before returning his attention back to Clara.

He smiled at her again “Actually, I lost sight of my friends when I went to collect my guitar from the cargo hold of the train and now, I’m waiting for them to turn up to the feast. So, its really nice to have you here to keep me company” he said, his eyes smiling. "I’ll introduce you to them when they turn up, if you like. I’m sure you’ll love them” he added.

Still trembling, Ethan gradually made his way to the Ravenclaw table. His attempts to hide his frightened face were feeble. It was all much too daunting for him. The people. In masses. Too many of them.

He had tried to prepare himself, tried to communicate with people, tried to feel comfortable but none of it appeared to help him at the current moment. His blockage rose up as a high wall, stopping him from being normal.

As Ethie sat down, his gaze went down with him. He didn't utter a word, instead he avoided all contact and fiddled nervously with his fingers.

Sam had been sitting here, wistfully hoping that the food might appear early despite having been to two feasts now and knowing it wasn't likely to happen. When it did eventually appear though, she'd learnt her lesson and was ready to eat or hide it as quickly as possible before anyone got the stupid idea of throwing it around. She was not being sent back to their dorms hungry today, nuh-uh.

She didn't even notice the change and shyly skirted the applause of her new housemates. Maybe one would come talk to her later but for now the table was much more interesting.

And the plates! So clean! She vaguely wondered if they used a muggle dishwasher for it all, but upon closer examination of the cutlery, she saw that there wasn't even a water stain. No dishwasher then? Then she had a horrifying thought.

What if they made the younger students clean the dishes? Wasn't that a thing that people made new kids do? Louise stared at her plate with a terrified expression. She didn't notice just how odd she looked doing it.
Sam was distracted from the thought of food by a new person, and she smiled friendlily. It was weird thinking that had been her last year. How much things had changed.

"Welcome to Ravenclaw!" she said with a grin, before tilting her head at the younger girl's fascination with the crockery. "I'm Sam, secon' year...'n' the 'ouse elves will be terribly disappointed if yeh find sum dirt on their clean plates." Maybe? Probably.

She was turning back to talk to the new firstie, when she saw someone else a bit further down the bench. Someone looking less than happy to be at the feast, and that wasn't right at all. She scooted down to him, and spoke quietly. "Yeh 'lright there?"

Janelle was formulating her plan for the evening when she caught the eye of someone closer to her own age........and he was wearing a Prefect badge! Smiling to match the one directed at her, Janelle waved in return. "Hey Mister Rooney, congratulations! Nice accessory you've got there," Janelle was really happy for her housemate. He was so nice and polite, always calling the girls Miss whatever. She guessed now she'd have to call him Prefect Rooney because Mister didn't quite seem to cut it anymore.

Then Rooney scored even more cool points with Janelle when he tossed her a mint. Catching the sweet, she quickly unwrapped it and popped it into her mouth. "Thanks. How did you know I was starving?" Hopefully that would keep her going until it was time to eat.

Then another question was answered when Penelope appeared and gave her welcome speech. Head Girl! That made three Ravenclaw Head Girls in a row. That was a very good thing indeed.

Getting up from her seat, Janelle walked over to the new HG. "Congratulations Penelope. I was kinda hoping they'd choose you for the job. Good Luck this year." Janelle couldn't imagine what it must be like to be Head Girl or Head Boy........all that responsibility. Well, she had no doubt that Penelope could handle it. Looking around, she tried to see how might have snagged the Head Boy gig. Maybe she would pay a visit to the other tables soon, just to check things out.

"How's Ravenclaw treading you?" He was curious because he never really asked Azura what being in Ravenclaw was really like. The brunette turned his head back towards Azura.

Bradson gave Azura a warm smile. "I'm always here if you need to talk or if you need a hug." He really felt the need to point that out to her. He just wanted her to know that he was here no matter what. Hew as worried about her because he knew what she was going through. The Scottish boy shook his head. "You really should eat once they bring the food out." He knew that she would need food at some point. "You don't even have to eat a lot just a little bit of food is all." The second year put his hand on top on hers.

"Yeah," she said matter-of-fact. "You know? Braids, Brady..." Haddie gave the boy a sheepish, sorry-not-sorry shrug. "I give everyone nicknames, just go with it." No, she wasn't making fun of you Brady "Braids" Somerhalder.

A slightly dreamy look crossed the second year Californian girl's face as Braids talked about Hufflepuff. Sure, he really hadn't said much or gone into any detail, but her imaginative mind was eager to fill in the details. Especially with a Head of House like Myers. Hadley had always been quite fond of the Herbology Professor, even if she wasn't so fond of his subject. He was fun, cared about all the students, was proof that you didn't have to be boring as an adult, and most of all, he didn't expect her to be someone she wasn't. She admired him greatly, and after the end of term feast last year, he had become her hero. How fun he must be as a Head of House...

"Uh...." Hadley wasn't quite sure what to say as Braids returned her question to her, asking about Ravenclaw. She glanced down involuntarily at the red and gold "I'd rather be in Gryffindor" shirt she was wearing and then back at Brady. That and a shrug probably sufficiently answered his question right? "It's a great house," she added, "if you belong there."

A voice knocked her out of this little mind bubble, but she was sure it meant nothing.

The voice called out again, and Clara swore that someone was saying her name. She turned to face the crowds at the Ravenclaw table and indeed, someone was trying to get her attention. So she wasn't just imagining things. Hadley (hopefully this was Hadley, or else this would be incredibly awkward) was a 2nd year that Clara hadn't really noticed all that much. Sure, she had been in the same House for a year, so they were on a name basis with each other, but, well...that was about it.

She noticed that Hadley was immersed in a conversation with some of her friends, but Clara was happy about the acknowledgement nonetheless. She waved back at Hadley, shouting, "Hey, Hadley! Hope you enjoyed your vacation!"

Hadley gave Clara a slightly awkward, uncomfortable half smile at question. It had nothing to do with being asked the question itself, and more to do with the answer to that question, so she left it simply at a shrug. There wasn't any point getting into it, and she didn't quite feel like the sitting through attempted sympathetic looks and awkward apologies. Besides, she was back at Hogwarts and just wanted to enjoy it. Speaking of which...Hadley glanced up at the staff dais, and more specifically at the still empty seat of Drapes. She'd get up to put the ballet flyer in front of his chair in a minute, but first she turned back to Clara. "Yours?" After all, best way to divert the topic is spin it back around on the asker.

"They..." She started to answer, but her attention was pulled away by Rooster--err, he'll probably think that's mocking, right?--by Roonster fiddling with and rolling up her sleeves. Okay...

Ignoring that, Hadley turned her attention back to Prefect Penny, and...wait? Her eyes locked on the badge Penny was sporting. Head Girl Penny!? But...that didn't have the same ring to it as Prefect Penny did! Never-the-less, as soon as Roonster was done with rolling up the other sleeve, Haddie was up out of her seat and giving Penny a congratulatory hug. "Head Girl? That's amazing!" But you still can't graduate Penelope Wright. Oh no. Hads even had a shirt that said so...It was a long summer, and she was indeed bored enough to make one. "My uniforms weren't packed," she said as she returned to her seat next to Mossy. That's all, nothing more than that. No story there. "They're being sent overnight by owl and will be here by tomorrow..." Satisfactory, yes?

Kitty noticed that Azura was more pale than usual, and it didn't look like pale makeup like what Kitty used. Was she okay? "That's good that your summer was interesting." But she sensed that Azura did not want to talk about it when she asked how her summer was. "Ooh my summer was fabulous," she replied cheerfully before plunging right in, chattering so quickly that her words ran against each other. "Since my grades were so good (which was a first,) mom took us on a trip to America - and we got to see several famous landmarks. We went to Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, New York, and Canada - but Canada is another country. I even saw a Thunderbird! But it was flying too fast for me to take a picture of it, so I can't show you. Don't worry, next time I will. Dad and I hung out at the Thrift store when we got back, which was also cool. And mom was really happy that I got permission to bring my worms to Hogwarts so now she won't have to be taking care of them when she gets back from work at the Ministry." Kitty pointed to the crate of dirt on the bench to her right so that Azura could see the worms. Then she sighed. "Unfortunately, mom hired a media trainer to teach me how to be a good little reporter in the way that HE thinks it should be done. So now he's going to be writing to me tips and assigning me extra homework all year that I'm going to have to do along with my classes here at Hogwarts." She sighed again. "But I really missed you guys, so I'm happy to be back."

"Oh." Kitty's face dropped a little when Abby told her that she had a bad summer. First Haddie had avoided the question, then Azura had paled and said her summer was just interesting, and now Abby admitted her summer was one to forget. Had Kitty been the only Ravenclaw to have had a good summer? "Well it's good you're back at Hogwarts then," she said, smiling as she tried to cheer the older girl up. "And I'm really looking forward to History of Magic, aren't you?"

"Hi Penny! Congratulations on becoming the new Head Girl, you deserve it." Kitty beamed at her before asking, "How was your summer?" Chances were it was awesome like hers, right???

"Ooh my summer was fabulous," she replied cheerfully before plunging right in, chattering so quickly that her words ran against each other. We went to Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, New York, and Canada - but Canada is another country. I even saw a Thunderbird! And mom was really happy that I got permission to bring my worms to Hogwarts so now she won't have to be taking care of them when she gets back from work at the Ministry." Abby half smiled at Kitty and said "Yeah i guess it is good to be back" Abby knew deep down that she shouldnt have been here because of the spell damage that she had received in the summer

No, she was not going to put on Mr. Prefect's robes. Congrats on that, by the way.

But then, as quickly as the defiance set in, it melted away again, like water in sieve. The girl, in some part and some way, broke over the summer. Funny thing; the moment you realize you're broken. Not an easy moment either, but she did a decent job at hiding the glistening in her eyes. Mostly by closing them. Hadley nodded and stood up as she took the offered robes and slipped them on. They weren't the best fit as Roo was 3 inches taller than her, at least, and a different body type altogether, but they weren't falling off either.

"Congrats," she said, nodding to the badge as she sat back down. What happened to Thornton though?

And back to Mossy. An A? Hadley gave the other girl a slightly quizzical look, and while she didn't quite grasp the meaning of the answer, the look had more to do with Mossy herself than it did the answer. Mossy wasn't Mossy anymore. It was almost like the girl was an empty shell of herself or something. Bland and lifeless. A robot programmed to be Mossy, but not. Where was that spark she'd seen in the girl last year?

This wouldn't do. "Don't worry, Moss." Hadley patted the girl's shoulder reassuringly. "Lots of people misplace their personality. I'll help you find it though. You can count on me." A big reassuring grin helped drive home the point.

Something was off with Haddie. It was as clear as the Sun on a clear day - she wasn't arguing back. She just accepted the robe to cover the stupid T-shirt, and Katherine was sure it wasn't because everyone had seen the T-shirt by now. She didn't know WHY though, and Haddie could rest assured that she would discover why. WHAT was her game? Did she have a bigger prank in that one-atom brain of -

No. Even if Haddie did have the biggest prank in the whole history of Hogwarts, even if she burnt the whole castle down, Katherine would not care. She had one single goal, she was going to achieve it starting from this term and not even a million Haddie's could stop her. She almost snorted upon hearing Haddie's explanation to Penelope - she was S U R E THAT wasn't the full explanation as to why she didn't have her uniform, but she didn't comment on it, since she didn't care. So she kept the cold expression on and only smiled briefly at Penelope when she appeared to ask what was up with Haddie. "Congratulations, Head Girl," she said simply and made a mental note to ask her what she did to get the badge - for future reference. She also smiled at Rooney, though the smile clearly didn't touch her eyes, and caught the quizzical look - so she didn't get it, and it was... whatever. She didn't even wince at the pat, although she did make a face. Like, no matter how hardcore she didn't care, she still didn't want Haddie to touch her. She would have answered her too, but Penelope began talking at that moment, so she turned her head towards the seventh year to listen.

Yeah yeah, she knew all this stuff, so she turned to answer to Haddie once the Head Girl stopped talking.

"The only time I'll count on you is when I want trouble," she cruelly said, "so wipe that grin off and stay away from me." It wasn't a threat... yet.

Hadley smirked, and propped her chin up with her hand as she gave Mossy her full undivided attention. "Tempting offer," she said, "but I'm gonna go with no." Really, Moss? This was Hadley Denaker she was talking to, and Haddie had a mission in her fellow second year. One that would help her keep her mind off her own issues, which was something extremely valuable to her right now. Mossy would have to try a lot harder than that or just give in and accept it. "I'm not giving up on you that easily." The smirk only grew bigger. She was about to say more when activity up at the dais marked the start of the speech. "You'll thank me one day," she added as she turned her attention to the front...

...and...

The Headmaster was the African wildcat, or Serval, she knew it was one of those but still not sure which. She was better at the big cats than the wildcat, but she was still fairly decent at them. But..The. Headmaster. WAS. THE. CAT!!!! An animagus. If Professor Ichihara was still unwilling to let her start her training, maybe the headmaster would be willing to train her. #options!

And then he started talking...and...and that voice. Could you actually have a crush on a voice? Not the person whose voice it was, mind you, just the voice itself. Because if so, she was crushing hard on that voice and...she should probably pay attention to what he was actually saying, not just the voice being used to say it. Right?

Too late. Wow, he didn't waste time with long speeches. That was nice. But also...not. She wanted to hear his voice more, almost as much as she wanted the food which came immediately after. The delicious smells wafting around her was a great distraction though. They went straight to her stomach and reminded her that she hadn't had a single bit of actual food all day. Everything she ate since dinner last night had been snack foods and candy. She was dying for real food, and started to load up her plate, piling it higher than needed with ribs, and potatoes and salad and strawberries and rolls and a chicken leg and...

No that was enough. For now. She set a cupcake aside an apology gift for Rachel for not being anywhere all summer.

His avoidance evidently did not help.

Through deep breaths, he tried to reassure himself that it was alright to communicate and talk with others. It was normal. He needed to get out of his comfort zone. He's sister said it would be his only hope of growth. He'd practiced so hard over the holidays. If only the real thing was the same as talking to oneself in the mirror.

"Uh.........I- uh.." he's stammering was as present as usual. He tried to continue and pretend he wasn't embarrassed, but deep down it was impossible not to feel ashamed. "F-fine. My-I-I'm Eth-Eth-an".

Sam gave a soft smile to the boy. "Nice teh meet yeh, Ethan," she replied. He really didn't have any need to be nervous, but she could understand all the same. She was a little overwhelmed herself, this time last year. So much had been new to her. "'m Sam, secon' year. Welcome teh Ravenclaw."

"Did yeh 'av a good train ride?"

Helena Ravenclaw
Default For anyone...?
Resident Ghost of Ravenclaw | Intelligent & Evasive

The Grey Lady was never late. She arrived exactly when she meant to which incidentally was right after the foreign, new headmasters speech. Floating up through the eagle table, her pretty brunette head first appeared in a chocolate dessert cake before all of her elegant ghostly self in a blue and bronze dress for the evening hovered over the Ravenclaw table.

A warm yet slightly restrained smile pursed Helena's lips as she let her grey gaze study the faces of the eagles presently at the table. "Welcome newly sorted first years to the home of wit and intelligence, I hope you'll come to love it here in my mothers house! Old students welcome back for another year of knowledge seeking!"

If anyone had any questions they'd know where to find her. At least the old students did. Floating towards Penelope she wondered who Mr Kitridge had prefected in Thornton's stead.

So the Headmaster was an animagus? Kinda obvious from the cat sitting there, really, but also interesting to know. She also was also curious about where that accent came from, but didn't get to ponder on that thought too long because the end of the speech meant...FOOD!

And Merlin, was Sam hungry. She'd been waiting for this moment ALL summer; pretty much from as soon as she had her first meagre meal at home.

She started to merrily tuck in, piling up multiple meats and vegetables, when their house ghost appeared through the middle of a very delicious looking chocolate cake. Sam quickly took herself a slice on her side plate, lest someone think it was a good idea to start throwing it before she'd eaten all her savouries.

"Good evening, Lady Ravenclaw," she greeted with smile. "Did yeh 'av a gud summeh?"

Luckily, the Headmaster (who was an animagus, as Katherine had guessed) decided to speak right at that moment, so she listened to him to calm down. She didn't even KNOW - no, actually, she did know. She knew why Haddie wouldn't 'give up' on her or whatever - it was because she was jealous AND a complete loser, so she targeted Katherine for them to fall together. She also thought that she was so clever and had analysed Katherine to decide she needed to change. Plus, she probably needed new puppets or team members in her stupid gang... and Katherine was going to be their entertainment, the subject of their stupid jokes like she used to be in her first ever muggle primary school. Obviously Katherine was the target of the 'cool' people, and Haddie clearly enjoyed riling her up. You know what? No more. Katherine had already become a cold girl, she could as well become a robot without any reactions, because clearly Haddie hoped her to react in a funny way.

The new Headmaster was an exchange one, interesting stuff. Katherine liked his accent and his positive manner - though no one could ever compete with Professor Moxley. She made a mental note to visit him and then she took some food on her table (soup, meatballs, pasta for now). After she was finished, she looked at Haddie calmly, without any expression (or so she hoped). Once she was sure she had the girl's attention (which wouldn't be hard, considering they were sitting across each other), she asked "Why do you care so much what I do? What's your gain?" At that moment, Sabbath saw Kitty pass by the table and returned her wave with a smile ”Hola, Kitty” he called as she passed, before returning his attention back to Clara.

The boy introduced himself as Sabbath. What an interesting name, Clara thought to herself. He was probably the very first Sabbath she had ever come across in her life, aside from that one time her great-aunt owned a grumpy Persian cat and named it Sabbath. Before she knew it, he had taken her hand in order to kiss it, which was a surprise considering the fact that that seemed to be something that only happened in the movies, not at, you know, The Great Hall. She tried to hold back a giggle as he did this, but she wasn't sure if he had noticed.

Sabbath greeted another one of his friends and told her that he was waiting on them. But the only thing that stood out to Clara out of all that he said was 'guitar'. That very word alone brought back instant memories of her father playing soft lullabies to get her to sleep when the nights were cold and dry. Her father, a self-proclaimed 'amateur musician' actually played tons of shows, more than he'd ever want to admit. And as much as he denied it, saying that his real job was the one at the bank, everyone around him could tell that music was his true calling, his true passion.

So naturally, Clara's eyes lit up at the mention of the musical instrument and she decided she just had to prod him about it. "Yes, I'd love to meet your friends! Also...you mentioned a guitar? Do you play?" Clara looked at him expectantly, glad that she had someone to pass the time with while the food was still not here.

Clara was slightly taken aback at Hadley's response, not necessarily because it was a bad thing. It's just that she never seemed to get the opportunity to elaborate on these sorts of matters. Every time a vacation was over and school resumed, everyone seemed to not really talk about their summers too much before diving into talks about the future, what classes were going to be like, what was going to happen.

Regardless, when Hadley turned back around to address her, she quickly responded. "Not bad, honestly, compared to previous summers. This is going to sound slightly uneventful, I guess, but I visited some of my distant family in Switzerland. The chocolate there is delicious! It was a nice break from, you know, the humdrum of schoolwork and exams. I hardly ever get out of the country, so it was also a nice travel experience."

Once she was sure she had the girl's attention (which wouldn't be hard, considering they were sitting across each other), she asked "Why do you care so much what I do? What's your gain?" It was fair to let her know, no?

Haddie finished cutting the last bit of her tri-tip steak into small chunks, and casually picked up each piece. They were carefully put, one by one, onto a spare napkin, wrapped up, and slipped into her bag. Asher hadn't had much to eat today either, and he would certainly enjoy the tasty tri-tip. As for Haddie herself, she was stuffed, and hadn't even finished what she piled on her plate.

She had finished securing the napkin of tri-tip so that she was confident it wouldn't unravel and spill out in her bag when Mossy's question caught her by surprise. Hadley flashed her dorm mate a confident grin. "I..." The confidence wavered instantly, leaving Hads with a puzzled expression and her mouth hanging open. She closed it.

Why did she care? It's not like Mossy wanted to be Haddie's friend, or even liked the girl. That had been obvious from day one, when Mossy hadn't even given her a chance. And yet, for some inexplicable reason that Haddie herself didn't even know, she did care. More than she should have. She shrugged and closed her bag. "Nothing to gain. You just..." She paused, trying to find the words when she didn't even know what they were yet. "You deserve to be happy."

He looked towards the end of the table and smiled as Penelope spoke. "Our Head Girl might though. She's pretty wonderful."

She was not being sent back to their dorms hungry today, nuh-uh.

Probably.

Hang on? Did she just hear right? "Congrats!" she exclaimed, turning to look at the new Head Girl. "Dat's awesome news." It was pretty awesome to have two in a row for the House, right? "Apar' from dat, did yeh 'av a good summeh?"

She was turning back to talk to the new firstie, when she saw someone else a bit further down the bench. Someone looking less than happy to be at the feast, and that wasn't right at all. She scooted down to him, and spoke quietly. "Yeh 'lright there?"

What? A big kid (Rooney), not that she wasn't a big kid, but a BIG kid had just walked up and sat down and... told her that the plates didn't bite? (Louise preferred not to think about the Head Girl biting. She added "stay off her bad side and avoid the Head Girl at all costs" to her list of things to do)
Sam, a kid only a little bigger than her mentioned something about house elves. What those were, Louise had no clue, but she figured that she would find out sooner or later. Maybe she would go exploring to figure it out sometime.

"Oh. The... house elves.... do the dishes then." she said with a little sigh of relief. She didn't know what she would have done if she had been forced to do all those dishes. Would Mum and Dad have let her come home? But then she wouldn't be allowed to use magic ever again, not that she knew anything about magic yet. If she went home now she wouldn't know what she would be missing... but wait. Why was she thinking about going home? She wasn't being forced to do the dishes and so she wasn't going to need to go home at all. So there.

Louise firmly put the thought out of her mind and instead focused on the other boy at the end of the table that was stuttering out his name- Ethan, was it? He looked terrified of the entire group, especially Sam who was talking to him. Because she had nothing better to do than inspect the plates, Louise slid her way down the table next to Sam.

"Hello. I'm Louise"

Fourth Year
Default Clara

SPOILER!!: Clara
[color=RoyalBlue]The boy introduced himself as Sabbath.

Sabbath was amused by her giggle as he made his hellos. Since arriving at Hogwarts, he’d found that people were a little funny about kissing hello and public affection outside of his home country, Spain. He chalked it up as cultural difference, but he still wasn’t inclined to change his ways, having been raised by his grandmother to show proper respect to a lady.

Sabbath looked at Clara and nodded with a smile, answering her query. “Yes, actually, I do play. My family are flamenco artists. We travel performing shows and teaching workshops in flamenco dance and music” he said, in his accented English. “For me, Flamenco is a great link to my family. You could say its in my blood, being Gypsy” he added, taking a bite of his food and tucking his long hair behind his ear. “How about you, do you play?" he smiled warmly.

"Lady Ravenclaw, hi!" She beamed at the Grey Lady and waved to get her attention. "How was summer at Hogwarts?"

Kitty returned Abby's half smile with a full smile, elated that she had cheered her up somewhat. "And this year our Divination teacher isn't going to try to eat us, so that's something, right? I mean, I don't think she is." She pretended to consider it as she narrowed her eyes at the staff table.

And then while she was looking at the staff table, the cat transformed right in front of her eyes into a man. "GAA! Abby, look!" Then he began speaking and Kitty realized he was the new headmaster. She clapped enthusiastically at the end of his speech.

The new headmaster had style. Kitty liked him.

She paused, trying to find the words when she didn't even know what they were yet. "You deserve to be happy."

Katherine wiped her mouth in a very lady-like fashion (by gently wiping the corners of her mouth with the tip of the napkin) and stared with the clear blue eyes at the girl. Haddie. She noted down the confidence, and then the puzzlement. Was that even genuine? Did Haddie really not know, or was she surprised because Katherine had asked? The more clever one of these two had no doubt that it was the latter. Haddie was caught off-guard, because she didn't want to admit Katherine was her laugh-thing.

I'm calm, I'm calm, I am better than her, I need to focus...

She snorted when Haddie finally answered properly and opened her mouth to retort; but when the girl went on, it was her time to be caught off-guard.

'You deserve to be happy...'

Only the most cautious eyes, and maybe not even them, could have caught the millisecond expression of longing. However, it was soon replaced by anger - an anger not directed at Haddie at all in the deepest part of her heart, but she had conditioned herself so hard to hate the girl that she couldn't even discern.

"You want me happy?" she breathed as she leaned onto her to make a point, "you stay. Away. From me. Got it? Being successful and recognised by the professors will make me happy, but you open your big mouth every single time. I'm the happiest when you're far, far away." So now Haddie knew what made her happy and if she really had been honest about it, she would leave her alone - which Katherine doubted, so ONE single prank on her, and Katherine was reporting it to the Headmaster.

Since she was full and she wanted to beat the crowds to get into her bed early to wake up fresh tomorrow, she grabbed her bag and left without giving Haddie a chance to reply.

It wasn't very often that Hadley was stunned speechless, but this was one of those times. She sat there, staring at Mossy with a slight glisten to her eyes; her mouth hanging open. By the time she had recovered enough to respond, Mossy had already stormed out. "Okay..."

Haddie was aware of how awkward it was now, her sitting here alone after being told off like that. Painfully aware. So much for trying to be friends with the Ravenclaws that hate her for being her...Now did Kitridge see? She hoped he was watching at that moment. Hadley was never the type to rat anyone out, so there was little chance of her telling him the specifics of what happened when she met with him tomorrow, but if he saw it, then she wouldn't have to. And then maybe he'd get why she wore that shirt, why she so desperately wanted to be in the house she belonged in, like everyone else seemed to be.

The shock and hurt was quickly dissolving into seething anger. What the hell did she ever do to Mossy, or Jace, or Davie, or all the rest!? She hated this house just then. Hated the sorting hat for condemning her to it...hated these robes that didn't even belong to her...she...she needed to cool off. On her own. Away from all this Ravenclaw pride.

Discretely wiping her eyes, Hadley collected her bag and pulled out her iPod, immensely grateful for Professor Primeaux for showing her how to make it work off magic last year. She made her way to Rooney, not caring to hide her anger, and pulled off his robes before shoving them into his arms. "Here's your stupid robes back." She couldn't hide the emotion from her voice, nor did she try to. He had his robes back, she wore them while she was eating, and now she was out of here.

Without waiting for a reply, Haddie slipped on her headphones, hit play on her enchanted iPod and spun on her heels. Then she stormed off toward the doors.

In all the confusion of a CAT turning into their Headmaster and the bickering girls, Rooney had gotten into a seat at the table and piled a plate full of food. It was only when he was a mere handful into the mountain of food that the bickering intensified and he sent a 'pleaaaaase' look towards Penelope and kept his eye on both Miss Haddie and Miss Katherine. And continued to eat. He was a growing boy. He needed this food.

He also needed to reel in whatever was going on with those girls, but no thanks. There was even something going on over at the Gryffindor table, but he didn't care enough to go over and see. They had their own prefects for that. AND the school had staff. Speaking of... what was the deal with the new HeadMEOWster and that voice? It was...a little more enchanting than Roo wanted to admit but he was a little caught up in the food and the man and the food.

That was...until....well until Miss Haddie happened.

Blinking, Rooney accepted his robes back and tried to follow up the grumpy girl with a comment but she was already on her way out. "You...don't..H...Thanks??" There was his official fail of the year. Letting both girls leave the Great Hall before the end of the feast. Hey.. no one knew that he hadn't told them to go to bed before the rest of the school and think about their darn actions. Snippy snippy snappety girls. Girls really were a problem...

Back to his food...

Then he'd walk the first years up all of the stairs with Penelope and leave them to deal with the drama of school that would follow, surely.
