The first you see is the fishing gear hanging on pins left of the doorway. The librarian is a bit fishing obsessed so he has brought some fishing equipment if time lets him explore the great lake’s fishing possibilities. The next thing you feel is cozy warmth emanating from the roaring fire place nearby. Remembering the chilliness of the halls and rooms in the castle from his years here Mr Kitridge has taken steps to see too that at least one place is warm and comfortable. In the center of the office you see what should be a desk under all the stuff currently placed on it like charts, crammers, stacks of books, an odd telescope or crystal ball and last but not least a big bowl of candy. Behind the desk, a large comfy chair with a pillow in it is situated.
Hanging on the walls around the office are portraits of former notable librarians like Madam Pince, Madam Rowena, Angela Kohan, David Kapoor and Madam Donovan. The collection of portraits/photographs is completed with some Kitridges who've been successful in some way or other through the course of time. No office of a librarian is complete without a curvy s-shaped bookshelf.
OCC: I will not have an arrival thread so please don't clog up the thread with 'waiting to enter' posts. Have your character knock on the door and then wait for Mr Kitridge to allow you to enter or to come back later. If you have any questions or want to set up a meeting don't hesitate to PM or VM me.
Why did she have to have this meeting on her birthday?
She could just turn around and act like it slipped her mind. Hell, maybe Mr. Kitridge forgot. It was the first day of school and all, so it's quite possible that he's been busy with cleaning and such and didn't remember. Right?
But when has her luck ever been that good? No. Hadley knew Mr. Kitridge remembered, and she knew she had no choice but to discuss things. But hey, at least she was in uniform now, so he wouldn't be able to lecture her about that. Okay...
She stepped up to the door and gently tapped on it. Very uncharacteristically soft for her, but she was still hoping for a way out of this and on the off chance he didn't hear...I was there sir. I knocked but you didn't answer...

Azura was not looking forward to this meeting. But the letter clutched in her hand for her Head of House wasn't going to wait. She was sure her Aunt had charmed it to be sent anyways if she didn't deliver it personally.. So here she was..
Letter in hand.. Trying to get herself together.. And not cry.
For the love of the Fwoopers just don't let her cry.
She knocked on the door and then stepped back and waited for it to open.

Badge in hand, Rooney had made the trip from Ravenclaw Tower to the office of his Head of House. He had a few questions to ask the man that had chosen him to take over for ex-Prefect, Thornton Baines. And actually questions about that ex-Prefect. Did people just drop their role and out of school like that often? And Rooney was a fourth year... Mama had said it was unusual for a younger student to gain a title in school until, typically, their fifth year. Not that Roo was going to dispute that. He knew that he wanted to be this person, this Prefect.. but he wanted to know the why.
Why him?
Had it been a 'fine whatever' choice?
Or was he honestly... truly, honestly the best person for the job right now?
That was what he wanted, anyway.
He knocked firmly, shoving his hands and the badge into his pocket during the wait.

Even though there were a number of papers sitting on his desk that needed signing, the African man swiftly made his way from his office to the library. Leobald had told him that he was going to be meeting with Azura Kennedy, and, given the circumstances, Sahnoun felt it was his duty as interim headmaster to be in attendance. His meddlesome paperwork could wait; the wellbeing of his new students were of priority.
Arriving outside Leobald's office, the headmaster was not surprised to see the young Ravenclaw standing outside the librarian's office. For a moment he was curious about the piece of paper that she was holding in her hand, but he was quick to assume that it was the same letter from her aunt that explained everything that had occurred before the start of the term. The headmaster's heart sank a little, knowing what it was like to have lost a loved one. But he had faith that the young girl would be alright in the end.
"Good day, Miss Kennedy," he greeted with a warm smile and courteous nod of his head. "I take it you have already knocked on Mr. Kitridge's door?"

Azura wasn't expecting to see the new Headmaster not only next to her, but to hear his deep voice saying her name was rather shocking as well.. and for a moment, the little twelve year old looked up at him with wide purple eyes..
It was only for a moment though as she managed as much of a smile as she could muster and said "Good day Headmaster." She was curious as to why he was here next to her.. But then again, Azura was pretty sure that her aunt had sent a letter to the Headmaster. So perhaps he was here to talk to her and Mr. Kitridge.
'Yes Headmaster I have.." She said as she looked up at him again. He was so tall! And it was sort of nerve wracking to be standing next to him, but if he was here to talk to her, she needed to not be scared!
Or cry..
She really needed to not cry.. She had been doing that too much lately.. But hopefully she could put on a brave enough face for everyone here at school.

Start of the year meant cleaning, re-organizing and mountains of paperwork to get through in the peace and quiet that was his office. He hadn't forgotten his meeting with Haddie after lunch however and had made sure to end his bookshelf cleaning in good time to be able to freshen up and get away the smell of soap from his hands. It was hard to not think about the blond eagle when she again had caused a bit of a stir at the opening feast the previous night. Leo was just glad that it was over lack of school robes and not a spells fight or another food slinging match.
He had just lit the candle on a single piece of birthday cake as he heard a gentle tap on the door. At least Haddie was punctual for their meeting. Moving away some paperwork from one of the comfy chairs he called out "Come on in! The door's open!"
SPOILER!!: Azura & Headmaster Mo

Placing the last hand on the tray with chocolote chip cookies, tissues and a teapot of chamomile tea Leo went to answer his door. It was not a joyful meeting that laid before him at this hour. It was one that made his heart truly ache for one of his young eagles. To lose a parent at any age was a heavy blow, but when you were just entering your teens and needed your parents guidance the most it was hard to predict how the child would react or feel.
Unlocking his door, he opened it look out at both Headmaster Sahnoun and Azura. Flashing Headmaster Sahnoun a polite nod of the head he said "Good day Headmaster Sahnoun!" Leo then turned his attention to Azura, smiling warmly at her. "Good day Ms Kennedy, you are both welcome to step inside!"
He waited for them both to enter his office before he closed and locked the door after the three of them.

Having retreated to his office for a well earned break Leo after inventory and shelving numerous books, he was in the middle of answering some letter correspondence when there was a knock at his door. His office had been popular off late. Flashing a look to his white kneazle that slipped down and into his desk chair the minute Leo rose from it he couldn't help but laugh. Madonna always liked to sit where he had just been sitting for some reason.
Shaking his head in wonder Leo walked over to open his door. Looking out at the fourth year eagle boy on his doorstep Leo smiled warmly. "Good day Rooney, how may i be of assistance?"

Hadley let out an annoyed sigh when she heard Mr. Kitridge's voice. So much for getting out of this. She hesitated though, taking a few breaths to calm and ready herself, before opening the door.
This was the first time Haddie had been in Mr. Kitridge's office. Despite winning most likely to break out of Azkaban (which Rachel had to fill her in on what an Azkaban was), and that mention (she was confident it was her) in Mr. Kitridge's office, Hadley had somehow managed to avoid being called into his office all last year. First impression: What was with all the fishing gear?
Second impression: It was surprisingly cozy. She glanced around for a moment and gave a brief wave to the portraits before turning her attention to Kitridge. "You wanted to see me, sir?" Her voice trailed slightly when she saw the cake and candle. Hadley pointed questioningly to it, as if to ask if it was for her, but the small, genuinely appreciative smirk on her face suggested she already knew the answer to that.

"Hi Sir.." Rooney rocked backwards onto his heels and dug his hands further into his pocket, feeling the point of his badge scrape against his palm. "Are you busy? I can come back another time.." Honestly, he could. It wasn't like he would hand in his badge right now without discussing it with his Head of House. And he didn't want to hand it in. He wanted to be Prefect until the day that he died.
Catching glance of the white creature in the office, Roo smiled. "Your seat is occupied, Sir."

Standing by the table where the single piece of cake resided Leo watched in silence as Haddie took in how his office looked. It probably didn't look anything like any of the other staffer's offices. Just how Leo wanted it.
When the blond second year eagle turned her gaze to him he nodded in affirmation. "Yes, I wanted to talk to you. But first happy 13th birthday Hadley!" Gesturing to the cake Leo said a warm smile pursing his lips "The cake I've baked for you Hadley. I wanted to give you something on your birthday, when you are celebrating it away from home. So eat, have a taste of it!"
"Can you tell me why you came to school yesterday without any school robes to wear?" Leo asked. It seemed useless to beat around the bush. So he just asked and depending on Haddies answer he'd come up with new questions.

A quick glance of Rooney's appearance told Leo that he for some reason was not wearing his prefect badge. He hoped that it wasn't stolen or lost after just the first day. Shaking his head Leo said "I'm not busy. You are welcome to come inside and talk right now." The things waiting to be done he could always do later or the following day. Talking to his eagles was always top priority.
Stealing a glance over his shoulder at his kneazle Leo smiled warmly. "It's fine. Madonna likes to curl up where its warm and comfy. I have more chair's. So want to come in and talk over some lemonade then Rooney?"

"Thank you, Sir." She wasted no time taking a seat in front of the cake. With a silent wish that no one ever again would try to keep her from Hogwarts or her friends, Hads blew out the candle. She was more than content to enjoy the cake slice quietly without replying until she was about half way done. "I was assured everything was packed, and couldn't pack them or even check myself." There, question answered. Not really, and Hadley knew that, but she waited until she finished the piece of cake entirely.
She wiped her mouth, and gave Kitridge a content little smile. "It was delicious. Thank you. Still, doesn't top the ferret you got me last year." Intentionally or not. "I probably wouldn't have made it through the summer without Asher." That was an exaggeration of course, but there was still truth in it. Okay, she put it off long enough.
"Story time?" She almost sounded hopeful he'd say, No, let's play Trivial Pursuit instead. When Kitridge didn't say that, Hads nodded and muttered, "Story time..." She took a calming breath. "The thing is, Mr. Kitridge, I'm not really supposed to be back this year." Or any year. "Dad found out about the Hag cooking that Brady kid," who she just met last night. "He didn't even really want me going in the first place, but Professor Myers assured him it was safe. So, when we went home for Christmas, he really didn't want me going back." She paused a moment, becoming very fixated on the way one of the portraits was snoozing in a chair. "Mom helped convince him it was a fluke, and to let me finish the year. They, my Mom and my sister and brother, were gonna keep at him and get him to come around, but then Professor Newton had us drink poison, to then brew the antidote." Which didn't work thanks to Miffy. "Dad found out about that too, somehow. And well, when I got home..."
There were still crumbs on her plate, which suddenly needed attending too more than the story did. Those...didn't last long. "I had prepared myself for the possibility of not returning to Hogwarts. Said my goodbyes to the school..." Pranked Drapes... "I hadn't prepared for being completely banned from the Wizarding World, including the friends I made here." She hadn't looked at Kitridge most of the story, and still wasn't. She shrugged at a small little nick in the edge of Kitridge's desk. "You know me," she told the nick. "I wasn't going to just give up the first real friends I've made. So...I spent the summer on house arrest, never out of my Dad's sight. I was angry too, so I couldn't really control my magic. We fought. Things happened. We fought. Things happened. We...you get the picture.
"Anyway, it was clear, I guess, to Mom and Natalie and Mark, that we probably needed distance from each other and the best way to do that was let me go back to Hogwarts. Our neighbor took Mom to get my school supplies. And later they went back with Natalie to get my uniforms and robes. We're twins...so we're the same size. But, yeah, everything had to be kept from Dad. And they had to pack for me, and I couldn't check to make sure everything was packed, because Dad was always there. And I had to be sneaked out of the house at three-thirty in the morning and dropped off at King's Cross at around 4, and didn't think to check if everything was there, because I was dead tired and didn't realize they weren't packed until I went to change into them." She took a big, recovering breath.
And that was the story of her summer. It was better to just get it all out rather than fight it and draw this whole thing out longer. The only thing missing from the story was the toll it took on her. "And about the shirt, Mr. Kitridge...that was never an attack on Ravenclaw. It's an amazing house, and wonderful if you belong in it..." She shrugged again and looked up at Kitridge. The shrug said what she hadn't. She didn't belong in it.
Fronting up for the starting feast altercation + Prefect Bronwyn
Sabbath made his way down to Mr Kitridge’s office as per the instructions from the new professor after his altercation with Noah at the starting feast.
She had been very specific when she had said that she would be checking up on him to make sure he rocked up for this meeting, so he knew there was little chance he would be able to wriggle out of it.
So, there he stood, outside Mr Kitridge’s office. He leaned in, listening briefly to see if he could hear any voices inside, but all he could hear were some muffled murmurings. Apart from Mr Kitridge himself, one other voice did seem oddly familiar with its annoying air of self-importance. Hmm, he couldn’t quite place it.
Lets get this over with, Sabbath thought to himself. He raised his hand, rapping the knocker on the office door.
It was precisely then that it twigged, that other voice belonged to ‘prefect Bronwyn” ... inner groan... too late, he’d already knocked!

Leo seated himself in one of the comfy seats and leaned back to watch Haddie eat with haste and enjoyment. Smiling he said "You're welcome Hadley! The ferret technically came from Professor Draper but I'm glad he has become a very beloved companion." Just like his kneazle Madonna was for him, even if he now also had Cassie and Jackson.
He folded his hands in his lap as Haddie began talking/explaining her life situation and how she had spent most of her summer on house arrest. His heart ached for her. It couldn't have been easy to be locked up and not be allowed to visit her friends or go to Diagon Alley or anywhere. One question that seemed relevant to the story that Leo felt he was missing made him ask. "Are your parents of magical descent or muggles?" Either answer would give him more clues.
Smiling warmly Leo added on quietly. "Your father is not the only parent in Hogwarts long history that has had should we say a heated reaction to events that have transpired here, and he will not be the last. Hogwarts is a magnet for odd occurrences and always will be. It's very unfortunate that he heard about the hag and the poison but I assume that Professor Myers did everything to assure your father that Hogwarts is one of the safest places of learning that exists in the wizarding world?"
"I can owl to your father too if you think it'd help, Hadley? You should be allowed to continue your studies here and to see your friends. It's a child's right." If a letter from him would alleviate the situation then Leo would certainly write one, maybe Headmaster Sahnoun could add a few words too?
Shaking his head Leo reassured. "I'm not angry about the shirt. It just shows that your are trying to find your identity and who you are. You don't feel so right now but you are a true eagle and one day you will realize that. The sorting hat put you in Ravenclaw because it is the best house for you." He was certain of that. Even if Haddie wasn't. "Now about your robes, do you need to borrow some until yours arrive later in the week?"

Going over to give his kneazle a scratch behind the ears Leo asked with a look at Rooney over his left shoulder. "How come you aren't wearing your prefect badge?" Was that the nature of Rooney's visit? Did he want to ask Leo why he had chosen him to take over after Thornton? It was just a guess among many. Hopefully nobody was brewing chaos in the common room as they stood there. Haddie was a name that quickly came to mind. But Leo hoped she had her mind on other things than causing trouble for the time being.
Hearing another knock on his office door Leo looked to Rooney and asked "Did you ask someone to come along to see me?" If he hadn't then he could ask whomever it was to come back later. Turning Leo walked over to unlock his door and peer out his next visitor which incidentally was another eagle. "Hello Sabbath, what bring you by?"
Leo seated himself in one of the comfy seats and leaned back to watch Haddie eat with haste and enjoyment. Smiling he said "You're welcome Hadley! You don't feel so right now but you are a true eagle and one day you will realize that. The sorting hat put you in Ravenclaw because it is the best house for you." He was certain of that. Even if Haddie wasn't. "Now about your robes, do you need to borrow some until yours arrive later in the week?"
Her expression soured briefly at the mention of Draper. It didn't matter to her who technically gave her permission to keep Asher, though. He had come to her through the Ravenclaw Raffle chest, which hadn't had anything to do with Draper until he was called to come collect them. So for her, Asher was and would be from the school and Kitridge over Drapes.
"Muggles," she responded. "But I don't think they were surprised to learn I was magical. Mom always said the strange things started to happen around me since before they even brought me home from the hospital. Though it was assumed it was both of us. Um, both my twin sister and I, I mean. Nat and I used to think it meant we were fairy princesses hidden away in the human world for our safety. They separated us for fourth grade, and that's when it was discovered it was just me." Why did she just blab all that? It wasn't exactly related to the question he asked. Well, it kinda was, but also not... "I don't think it helped that Ailsa," her cousin who was also a Ravenclaw and the same year as her, "was magical as well. See, Ailsa's Dad is my Dad's twin brother and they had a falling out before I was born. We don't really know what it was about. But I'm sure finding out that David's, uh, my Uncle, wife and daughter were witches didn't help." Hadley let the silence linger a moment before feeling the need to offer an explanation. "My family is..." She searched for the right word. "Complicated." That was probably the best word to describe it.
"He did, sir." Hadley nodded, recalling that day in Diagon Alley. She'd met up with Rachel after shopping and were comparing wands while Myers and her Dad talked. He was probably a good part of the reason she was allowed to attend in the first place. "It might help." She didn't really expect an owl from her Head of House to really change her Dad's mind. He was too stubborn for that, and his foot was too firmly rooted on this issue, but... "It might help smooth over the fallout Mom is probably getting for sneaking me off to Hogwarts behind his back." Hopeful.
Like she said. Complicated.
It was a relief to hear he wasn't angry about the shirt. But she didn't understand the faith everyone had in the sorting hat. It made mistakes. It wasn't God. It wasn't infallible. It made mistakes. She was sure of it. "My robes came last night. My neighbor overnighted them." Was there such a thing as overnight shipping via Owl? Maybe they floo traveled to Hogsmeade and sent them via owl from there? "They were a little stuffy, so I left them in my dorm after class. But," she was quick to point out. "I had my robes on for classes." She was still in her school uniform, minus the robe though, so that counted right?
"But, uh...How am I a true eagle?" People kept saying that, but she couldn't see it and they didn't explain it. Just stated she was one and the Hat was right. Hadley needed an explanation there. And who better than her head of house. "I mean, I'm not like Katherine Moss, or even like Rachel, or Ailsa. They're Ravenclaws, and I'm not like that. I don't do smart things..." Duh. That was a given. "Like, my head gets caught up on what is fun, or something, which is usually the stupid thing, and before I know it, I've already done it." She shrugged. "I just don't see it. And I don't really feel accepted by the house for who I am. Individuals in the house, yes. But not even the majority of individuals really." She ended it there and glanced up at Kitridge, almost hopeful he would put it in perspective for her.

It was nerve wracking enough to be dealing with this sort of self-doubt at such a young age and in a position that he had waited for for so long. And knew he was fantastic for. But sTILL.. Taking a step in, Rooney nodded. "I like lemonade, Sir." And clearly Madonna liked the whole thing of invading seats, like Pomegranate did. Maybe it was a Hogwarts pets thing.. "I like how you called her Madonna though." Fitting.
He sighed when his Head of House asked about his badge and plucked it from his pocket and held it up. "I just have a few questions. The feast was... hard and... I've been wearing it, but something happened and I do--" Seriously? Why was someone needing the attention of Mr Kitridge now? When he needed it..
"No Sir, I didn't ask anyone with me." If he had, it would have been Miss Penelope, but he wasn't sure he wanted her thoughts on this subject right now. He could only deal with one person at a time about it.

Sabbath?!
Rooney groaned, purposely trying not to be too loud. What did that little weasel want?
"Hello Sabbath, what bring you by?" [/QUOTE]

Sabbath?!
Rooney groaned, purposely trying not to be too loud. What did that little weasel want?
Sabbath heard footsteps approaching, a lock clicking and then the door swung inwards. There stood Mr Kitridge and beyond his shoulder, Sabbath could see the owner of the sour puss and the whiney voice - Rooney. In full view of Mr Kitridge though, he refrained from responding in the deserved manner to his perfectly audible groan.
He paused in his approach.... Did Mr Kitridge just say “What brings you by?” Sabbath’s face immediately brightened, perhaps he had no idea about the altercation at the feast, or perhaps he’d forgotten all about it. Sabbath had been certain the new professor had mentioned it to him, but, even still, he was not about to dob himself in. He decided on the spur of the moment not to bring it up at all.
“Oh! Well, nothing really, Mr Kitridge, I just wanted to pop in and say how lovely it is to be back at Hogwarts for the new semester and that I look forward to seeing your smiling face around Ravenclaw tower," he said, with a big smile. He avoided the gaze of 'Prefect Bronwyn' who he knew was lurking in the wings, listening to his charade. Roons had better keep his big mouth shut if he knew what was good for him.
“Umm, I can see you have company, I’ll leave you two to talk, shall I?" he said, still smiling, starting to edge backwards a little. He could sense the possibility of getting away scot-free was definitely imminent.

It was certainly a step in the right direction toward coping with the situation. He was about to open his mouth and ease the awkward silence with some general questions about how her classes were going so far in the term, but the librarian's office door opened.
"Good day, Mr. Kitridge," the African replied with a courteous nod. His attention then turned back to Azura. "Aftah you, Miss Kennedy," he addressed the girl gently, making a gesture with his hand to allow her to enter the office, before stepping in himself.

She blinked a little as she gave him as much of a smile as she could muster.. "Hello Mr.Kitridge." She said softly as she looked up at him, before looking back up at the Headmaster as he motioned for her to move into the office..
"Thank you Headmaster."
She said as she entered the office and sat down in her chair and she took a deep breath.. "So, I see my Aunt has owl'd everyonel. She gave me letters to give to everyone, but I think that was just her way to make me go see the Professors." She bit her lip a little.. Her Aunt knew her too well. Azura would have just tried to go through this on her own.. She said a silent thanks to her Aunt.. and her hopeful Guardian..
Nothing had fully been arranged yet.
Azura's heart seized for a moment.. Surely.. they would take her in right? She wouldn't be an orphan.. right? She pushed that thought from her head as she looked up at her head of house and The Headmaster.
"Muggles," she responded. "But I don't think they were surprised to learn I was magical. Ah his guess was correct. Haddie's parents were muggles. It explained a lot. Even if many families were complicated in general it didn't make everything easier if one of the children had magical powers. Which Haddie seemed to have experienced from a young age Leo realized when she had been separated from her twin because of her magic. Every coin sadly had a back side that wasn't always sunshine and roses. Nodding Leo said "I didn't know you had a twin sister. Nat right? Do you keep in touch with her via letters with her while you are here? I guess you miss her?"
He had siblings not a twin. But he could relate somewhat at least and understand why her father reacted the way he did if also her cousin went here at Hogwarts in Ravenclaw. Smiling Leo said "All right, consider it done. I'll owl your father tonight. I can't promise anything but I hope my letter will make things easier." The private dealings between her parents it wasn't in his power to affect. It just wasn't.
Leaning more back against the seat off his chair Leo nodded "Good, the house elves can help you make your robes feel les stuffy, because you need to wear them Haddie!" There was no escaping that. The last thing he wanted to hear was that some of the professors had docked pointed for her not wearing the proper attire to class.
Twinning his fingers around each other Leo sat silent for a moment, considering before he said calmly. "You are supposed to be yourself and not try to be someone you are not Haddie. You may not always do smart things but you certainly have more wit than many other eagles do. You have a keen intellect and usually have original ideas and methods for getting out of trouble, don't you? And you are quirky aren't you not? All those things makes a true Ravenclaw and the wisdom and thirst for knowledge you'll get through practice and experience. You just need to have a little faith and patience and it will come."
Shaking his head Leo learned forward to pat Haddie's left arm before he leaned back again. "I'm sorry if you don't feel accepted by your peers. I accept you and see you as true eagle and with time your eagle peers will too. Just give them a chance to show that. Doesn't Rachel accept you either?"

"One glass of lemonade is coming right up!" Leo said as he walked over to pour up a glass for Rooney from the can he had standing on a table behind his desk and as a second thought he put some chocolate cookies onto a small plate too. Lovingly Leo cast a glance at his kneazle "Thanks, Madonna does like being the center of attention just like the talented muggle artist that bear the same name."
Raising a brow Leo enquired "In which way was the feast hard? And what happened after that made you stop wearing your prefect badge on your chest?" He knew about the incident at the feast that Professor Stewart had handled. But Rooney's words hinted that there had been something else that had happened and Leo was keen to hear what that was. He had chosen Rooney to be prefect of Ravenclaw because he believed in him. Hopefully it was something easily taken care of and something that a little pep talk couldn't solve.
--
Focusing his attention Sabbath he said, flashing the boy a small yet warm smile. "I'm glad to hear that you are looking forward to a new year at Hogwarts Sabbath, just as I am."
Gaze and tone turning more serious Leo continued as he stood blocking the entrance to his office. "Professor Stewart informed me off what transpired at our house table, during the opening feast and your actions. Would you care to explain to me why you felt it necessary to punch another student? Punching is not accepted here at Hogwarts Sabbath or anywhere else for that matter. You are lucky Professor Stewart just deducted potions she could just have easily given you detention too." If Leo had been there he probably would have given the boy detention. Punching was not okay not under any circumstances.

Leo let Azura and Headmaster Sahnoun enter his office before he closed and locked the door. This was a delicate meeting and he wished not to be interrupted. Azura his full attention and support considering the sad circumstance.
He didn't say anything when Azura, sat down in one of the comfy chairs. Poor girl. He understood if decorum was the last thing on her mind. With a glance to Headmaster Sahnoun he gestured for him to take the remaining comfy chair.
Fetching the tea and cookie tray that he had prepared earlier, Leo set it down on the table in front of Azura and the headmaster before he fetched a chair for himself. Eyes turning to Azura he asked his voice full of warmth and empathy. "We are so deeply sorry for your loss Azura. How are you feeling, dear?"
Nodding he affirmed with a glance to Headmaster Mo. "Yes, we got the letter from your aunt. She will as I understand it be your new guardian?"
What he most of all wanted to do was to gather Azura into a consoling hug. He though feared that that would cause the tears he saw hints of at the back of the girl's eyes would start to flow. But maybe that was what she needed?
Gesturing to the teapot Leo asked "Would either of you care for a cup of chamomile tea?" Or maybe it was better to offer napkins?
Ah his guess was correct. Haddie's parents were muggles. It explained a lot. Hadley nodded. "Yeah, Nat. We do. And with the two way mirror Mom got us for our birthday last year. But she didn't react all that well to me being a witch without her and so didn't talk a lot last year. But we've made up." Finally. Hads didn't go into how scared she was that she and Natalie would end up like her Dad and uncle. "This year we plan to write and talk everyday. Poor Wimple is gonna get such a workout." She'd use a Hogwarts owl once in awhile if Wimple didn't get jealous of other owls like he did. "And thank you, Mr. Kitridge."
Hadley nodded about the robes. "I wear them to classes and everything, sir. But on my own time," when not in classes or at school events, "I prefer to just wear my school uniform without the robe..." Was that okay? She had thought it was, but maybe not? "Anyway, the weather will be changing soon and I'll be bundled in the robes for warmth all the time."
She listened quietly to Mr. Kitridge, a small smile spread on her lips. He was actually making her feel better. And surprised. More wit than many other eagles do? And if she didn't know better, she'd say he actually seemed impressed by her skill at getting out of trouble. To her that was just survival instinct. And yeah, she guessed she was a bit quirky. When he was done, Hadley simply shrugged. "It just sometimes feels like everyone wants me to be someone I'm not." Her Dad, teachers, professors even, hell, last year it seemed to her that even Mr. Kitridge had wanted her to be someone she wasn't. But she wasn't going to say that, especially with him telling her to only ever be herself. When it came to Mr. Kitridge, perhaps she had been wrong.
Nodding once more, Hads said, "Yeah, Rachel does. So does Kitty, Azura, Ailsa," she was family though, "and Penny." And that was the list. The list of Ravenclaws she knew accepted her. The rest either didn't or were ambiguous.

"Numb." She whispered softly, "It's so hard to wrap my head around what happened. To realize that.. My mom is gone." Her brow furrowed in concern and she twisted her fingers together. "My chest aches really bad.. but I can't seem to cry." She just lay awake.. staring up at the ceiling, clutching her chest as it throbbed.. it seemed like there was a weight crushing her and there wasn't much she could do about it.
Most of the time she felt like she was desperately treading water, trying as hard as she could to keep her head above water. She was so scared she would just slip under water and drown under the weight of everything.. But she had to be strong.. She had to keep treading water.
She took a breath as he mentioned her Aunt being her Guardian. "Right now, she and my Step Father are talking about who will be my Guardian, my Step Dad isn't.. around right now." She said softly as she bit her lip and looked down. He had gone to the Black forest to see if he could find the Vampire that killed her mom.
"I'll take some tea." She said in a soft voice as she twisted her fingers again. She felt so lost.. like she was wandering around in the dark, searching for any light she could find.
Azura watched at the door opened and she saw Mr.Kitridge smiling at her.. She almost wanted to burst into tears! She suddenly remembered how he had helped her with her nose at the Welcome to Ravenclaw Party last year, and she almost wanted to hug him.

After the young Ravenclaw made her way into the librarian's office, the headmaster himself followed suit. His eyes remained on Azura, trying to judge by her appearance how she was doing. He knew the signs, the feelings, everything. He encountered them himself when he was a young boy, and her certainly had students in the past who had lost their family. Those were certainly sad and dark times, but one only needed to remember to turn on the light.
Softly taking a seat on one of the chair available to him, the man's dark eyes went back and forth between Leo and Azura. He nodded his head, confirming to the girl that they all did receive an owl from her aunt. The warm smile on his face was still there, though it did lessen when the girl revealed how she felt. Numb; chest aches; can't seem to cry... She did know that it was okay to cry? It was, after all, a part of the grieving process.
"Tea would be wonderful, Mr. Kitridge. Dank you," he said calmly, his eyes lingering from the Ravenclaw for just a moment. The man took a deep breath, replaying what Azura had just said moments ago. The fact that she was having chest aches worried him. "Have you been to see Healer Murdoch, mah dear? I am quite positive dat she would be able to provide a potion or two to help wit da chest pains."

As Mr Kitridge’s tone became more serious, Sabbath’s shoulders slumped. Rats! Just when he thought he was going to get away without being told off! “Oh that... I almost forgot! he said with a sheepish smile.
”Err, there is an explanation Sir - I was provoked” he began. “You see, when I arrived in the Great Hall I found Noah harrassing my girlfriend, he was making her cry, so yes, I pushed him,” he continued frowning. “Then, he went and bumped his nose or something and because he’s a bit of a bleeder, it looked worse than it really was... Sir”, he looked up at Mr Kitridge hoping this would suffice and avoided eye contact with Rooney in the background as he sipped his lemonade.

With a sigh, Rooney sipped his lemonade and decided to wait to properly speak to his Head of House until after Sabbath had gone. More so he could watch the idiot get schooled by the man in charge of Ravenclaw. Finally! Maybe he’d take something from it, because he clearly hadn’t taken anything from the conversation they had had in the dorm. Although… Sabbath’s version of events took him by surprise and he couldn’t help but laugh loudly to garner attention back his way. Because this had been his meeting initially. First off, how could someone forget causing enough drama that one person ended with a bruise on their face?
”Liar!” Okay, no. Rooney wasn’t going to let him talk about Noah that way, when in his eyes…there was nothing the Diggory boy could have done to avoid the horrible things that had followed.
”Sir, I..” How to put this nicely..? ”I’m one hundred percent positive that Noah wasn’t harassing anyone. Especially not the girl who was his best friend until someone” Pointed fingers in Sabbath’s direction now.. ”decided to get involved.” The fourth year put his glass onto Kitridge’s desk and decided then to put his badge back on. Because he wasn’t going to have Sabbath continue to be derogatory about someone that couldn’t even defend themselves. Not that Noah seemed the person to do that…given what Roo had seen in their meeting. ”I actually spoke to Noah the morning after, Sir. And he, forgive me for assuming based on first conversation, but he didn’t seem to have the same idea of what happened as Sabbath here. And I actually believe him over… Sabbath.” Who was a smug git and really did deserve the smacking of the face off a table.
”Seeing as he’s here, Sir.. The events I was talking about was the conversation I had with both boys. You see..I called a meeting with them, I wasn’t sure if that was okay.. But I didn’t like to see Noah in that way. My conclusion from that conversation is that..maybe Mister Giminez wouldn’t get himself into these situations if he wasn’t as rude as he is.” Oh ho.. And this was just the start of Rooney getting into things. Because he was just getting more and more annoyed by Sabbath’s annoying little face and everything about him.
"I'm glad you've made up with your sister Hadley and that you and Nat plan to talk regularly now. The bond between siblings is special and should be nurtured especially between twins." Leo commented quietly. Raising a brow in confusion he asked "Whimple? Is that your house owl?" It seemed most likely. Unless Haddie had named one of the school owls.
Thoughtfully he leaned back more in his chair as he responded to her query. A question Leo hadn't really put much thought to. "If you're inside Ravenclaw Tower then you can wear the clothes that feels most comfortable, but outside in the castle or the grounds when classes aren't in session then it's better if you wear your full uniform with your house robes included. It will make it easier for you and won't make you lose any points. Plus I can't tell every professor and staffer that I've given you permission to not wear your house robes then all the students will want to follow suit. And then it'll turn into chaos." Something that Leo wanted to avoid at all costs.
Shaking his head Leo said "I'm sorry that some people have made you feel that way Hadley. I just want you to strive to become the best self that you can be. I want you to be Hadley, nobody else. If your closest friends accept you as you are isn't that enough? Do you have to care what everyone else thinks? It's what you think that matters. Don't forget that!"

Pouring up a cup of steaming chamomile tea Leo handed it over to Azura trying to catch her gaze as he reassured calmly. "It's okay to let yourself cry dear and just let all the emotions that you feel inside come out. You've lost your mother and crying is a natural part of the grieving process." Which he was sure that Headmaster Sahnoun agreed with.
"I completely understand that it's hard to talk about how you feel right now Azura and that is perfectly okay. You should know that all the staff here at Hogwarts are here for you in this difficult time. Anytime night or day you feel like you want some adult company then my door is always open.."
Pouring up a second cup of tea for headmaster Mo he handed it over asking "Isn't your office door also open for student visits Headmaster Sahnoun?" Did the school have a counsellor that they contacted in these types of cases? He'd ask Mo about that after Azura had left.
The aching chest pains Azura was experiencing were concerning. Looking over at Azura again he said "If you want I can ask Professor Newton if he has some potions he could brew for you for your pains. How are you sleeping dear?"
"Is it stressing to not know who is going to be your legal guardian for now on?" Leo assumed so but if Azura voiced it then he could possibly send a reaching out letter to her Aunt and Stepdad to see how the talk was going.

He forgot???
How did you just forget something like that? Leo shook his head in equal disapproval and bafflement as Sabbath rolled out an explanation for why he had acted the way that he had done. He apparently had been provoked by another student and had felt the need to defend his girlfriend's honour. Inward sigh.
"Punching someone whether you are provoked or to defend someone you like very much never ever leads anywhere good Sabbath, and not to mention it's against school rules." Here he paused to let it all sink in.
"I highly advise you to seek the assistance of a school prefect or a member of staff the next time you feel like punching someone. Use your words but not bad words and most of all don't just punch! Resorting to violence as an outlet for anger never ever solves anything." Leo lectured.
"Did you bother to try and find out from your girlfriend if Noah indeed made her cry before you punched him or did you just punch him out of jealousy?" Had Sabbath gotten all the facts before he acted Leo wondered or had it all been on impulse?
Looking back at his house prefect he said since Rooney had chosen to interject in his conversation with Sabbath to provide some extra information. "You did the right in stepping in and talking to both Sabbath and Noah about the incident Rooney even if it wasn't really solved and you got to hear conflicting stories of what happend. You acted like all prefect and student leaders should do when they witness or get involved in an incident. You should wear your badge with pride not hide it away in a pocket." Leo complimented with warmth.
Turning to Sabbath again Leo asked. "Is it true what Rooney said are you rude to your peers Sabbath?"
