Welcome to your first duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Jinx Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

A referee (either Professor Airey or Professor Hirsch) will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the Dueling Club rules, the DADA rules as well as the SS Site rules.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 3rd of July by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

Bec felt a bit down after her losing her previous duel, but that did not give up her spirit. And when the next duel was announced, the first year had practised in the practise area this time instead of just reading about spells in the text books.
So far, she had become pretty good with a few spells. She didn’t shoot bubbles anymore when trying the aguamenti charm. That was a big step for her.
Her next dueling partner was someone she did know. Well, had met in Diagon Alley and the Gryffindor , dressed in her armor, waved happily to the other side of the arena. “Good luck! You’ll need it!” mwuahahahaha!
Making a bow, Bec then pointed her wand directly at the girl and shouted. “Everte Statum!”

Harriet was so excited for her duel! It was going to be good. She'd been ill during her last duel, and hadn't been able to attend it. So she was super happy to be able to do this duel. She wanted to show them how good she was! She had a lot of live up to, her older siblings were both good at duelling. So Harriet wanted to be good too.
Beaming, she stood opposite Rebecca. She didn't know how this was going to go, but she was excited anyway. Still smiling, she bowed, and did all the formal duel things. She'd practiced a few spells. So she knew a little what she was doing. "Protego!" She murmured, blocking the spell that Rebecca had fired in her direction. Thinking quickly, she performed the wand movement, whilst saying the incantation for the bat bogey hex.

“Ooooh nice shield charm!” Rebecca complimented from the other side of the room. It was fascinating to see others dodge her spell work. At least that was what she thought. But she was also here to win and to do that her opponent had to be hit by a spell.
The Gryffindor readied herself, looking at the Hufflepuff’s wand to see if she knew the spell she was going to cast by her wand movement. Turns out she didn’t and the girl could duck her head just in time as the hex flew over her head. “WOAH!” she gasped, looking behind her for a second but then remembered she was in a duel and turned back. “That was close wasn’t it? Ok , I got a really awesome spell coming up, I learned it last week!”
Eeeeh she was probably talking to much? Pointing her wand at Harriet, Rebecca shouted “Rictusempra!”

"Thank you. I like that spell" She did like that spell. It was a good one. It was good to have a shield spell. She would totally use that again if she needed to. It helped protected her from lots of spells that Rebecca could aim at her. So she liked the spell. But she needed to learn other defensive stuff too. She knew that the shield charm wouldn't protect her in any situation. Maybe she needed to read up on that before her next duel.
She was a little distracted by Rebecca's talking though, and only managed to dodge her spell by jumping to the side. Okay she really needed to concentrate now. Thinking about a returning attack, she thought of the first spell to come to her head, before shouting "Expellierarmus" It was a simple spell, but she knew it could be successful.

Rebecca grinned as she watched her tickling charm move towards the Hufflepuff. The girl seemed distracted by her talking yet she was unaware of that. But then her face fell and transformed in to a pout when Harriet dodged the spell by jumping to the side and before she knew it… her wand was …..on the floor…. at the...where was it even?! She looked around desperately and found it at the side of the room.
What? How? What had happened?!
She blinked once. Twice and then ran towards her precious Phoenix Feathered wand as fast as she could. Her eyes were on her wand on the floor and when she reached it she quickly aimed at the girl and shouted the first spell that came to mind. "Colloshoo!"

"Hehe..." Harriet giggled a little as she watched her friend look around for her wand. See. It was a good spell! She liked that. She would use it again. Though she knew that it wouldn't be too good if the person was used to duelling, since she figured it would be easy to shield against. But for now it had worked and that made her happy. That meant she was doing good too.
"What... uh...." But now she couldn't move. Oh. She'd missed the spell that her friend had used. She shook her head, trying to remember the spell that would undo a charm. But for now she just sent the leeks jinx at her friend. Hopefully that would distract her whilst she remembered the charm she needed

It was interesting to compare these duels between the younger kids to the duels between some of the older kids. There was a lot of innocence here along with a lot of niceness that the man hadn't expected to see. Maybe it was because he, like the older kids, focused his energy on the spells itself and didn't take part in much conversation, if at all. So this? This was something.
Nevertheless, he watched the duel continue, taking note of the way Miss Meadows had managed to retrieve her wand quickly enough and the fact that Miss Paton had made this happen in the first place. It was a good move and if the Gryffindor hadn't grabbed her wand in time, the duel might not have continued.
But before long, the time was up and so was that magical barrier. Hirsch let the barrier swallow up Miss Paton's jinx before stepping out of the shadows and towards the two first years. "Well done, well done, both of you," he said, smiling at the two, "It's very close between the two of you but since there can only be one winner, congratulations, Miss Meadows. And well done, Miss Paton."
