First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.
Hadley had spent the last hour alone, listening to The Eye of the Tiger on her enchanted iPod in order to psych herself up for her first duel. While she hadn't been that upset about finishing dead last last year, Hadley wasn't that keen on repeating that performance. She was ready now, pumped and psyched up for this match. It didn't even matter that Noelle was a third year. Hads had this.
The Californian second year bowed pleasantly to her older opponent. The Eye of the Tiger was still playing on a loop in her head, continuing to get her in the mental zone.
Bam! Bam bam bam! Bam bam bam! Bam bum bum.
Rising up! Back on the street.
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive
....
She might have been dancing ever-so-slightly to the music in her head. Or maybe a bit more than ever-so-slightly.
It was time to start and Hadley already had a vague strategy in her mind. Kira, the wand flashed silver and gold as the girl aimed it squarely at Noelle and Noelle's own wand. Her head bobbed in time with the music in her head. "Accio Noelle Summers's wand!" Oh yeah, she went there. And she had spent all of first year mastering that little spell, so, here's hoping Noelle had been ready to have her wand pulled out of her hand and had a death grip on her wand. Sorry/not sorry. Hadley Denaker was NOT messing around this time.

Spells Cast:
Accio:Summoning charm; summoning an object to the caster

Nerves. Racing through her body.
Noelle had been practicing and training defensive spells since her return from the dungeons. It was a way to make her feel stronger, protected, and more confident. It had been working so far. Noelle felt like if needed, she could somewhat protect herself. Of course, practice was everything. She spent countless hours in the training rooms with dummies. She even practiced with Sabbie and Hope on numerous occasions.
But this wasn't the training room.
And this wasn't a dummy she was facing off with.
It was Hady. Her friend... Who was dancing?
Noelle couldn't help but grin at that. But the grin quickly faded as she got into the right frame of mind. Henric taught her to clear her head. To breathe deep. Wands being pointed at her, were still a soft spot from.... certain happenings in the dungeon days. So she bowed neatly and took a deep breath to keep her head cleared. Her wand was raised and her eyes were trained on Hady. She saw Hady's mouth open and she didn't hesitate to send a shielding spell at her, not even waiting for the words to leave Hady's mouth. "Protego!" Noelle said, moving her wand forward and directing it at Hady.
She was surprised that Hady had tried to grab her wand first and foremost. Smart one that little Claw.
Noelle already knew her own strengths and weaknesses. So she already knew one of her better spells. One that Bella had taught her last year, and one that she had used on Sabbie before. The Bat Bogey Hex. Noelle squared her shoulders and pointed her wand at Hady, sending the hex at her. Her heart was hammering.

The spell hit her square in the chest but it was her knows that suffered. She was suddenly stuffy and blocked. Hadley stopped dancing and blew a few times hard through her nose. It cleared quite easily, but that's when it got worse.
A bat-bogey hex. Her own snot was now flying around attacking her in some of the most disgusting attacks ever. "Colloshoo!" She got the shot off just as her snot went in for another attack. Ew! Well, two can play at that game. The bat-bogeys stopped attacking finally and Hadley narrowed her eyes at her Lioness friend.
It's the eye of the tiger.
It's the thrill of the hunt.
Rising up to the challenge
of our rivals!
She was definitely dancing again. Dancing and bobbing her head to invisible music, a mischievous smirk on her face.
And the last known survivor
stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us allllll
with the Eye of the Tiger
And..."Calavrio!" The spell fired, shooting off at Noelle. If she was lucky, the soon to be bald Noelle. Sorry/Not Sorry. What would Noelle look bald? Hads twirled around to the music and bobbed her head some more waiting, prepared, to not be hit by her next spell.

Oh.
No.
She.
Didnt.
Noelle was able to jump avoid Haddie's first spell by jumping out of the way. Which she was happy about. Her shoes sticking to the floor would not have been a good thing.
Noelle was hit with Haddie's other spell and immediately felt the cold air hit her head. It was an odd sensation. And Noelle didnt like it. She wasnt sure there was a spell to regrow her hair. She would have to go to the nurse after the duel.
And was Haddie dancing??
Noelle searched her brain for a spell. She probably looked a sight, all bald and what not. Hmm.... A spell came to her brain and a smirk spread on her lips. She needed to catch Haddie off guard because she could tell she would deflect her spell. She was so glad that Henric helped train her. She could spot things that she didnt think she would be able to. Especially this being her first duel.
So, taking a deep breath, she aimed her wand at Haddie again. "Expelliarmus! She exclaimed and didnt even wait to see if that disarmed her before sending another spell her way. "Furnunculus!" Noelle said and sent that spell towards her. Hopefully it would hit her. If Haddie wanted to play with appearance, Noelle would play.
Deep breath Noelle.
Her nerves were getting the best of her with this duel. And her hair around her on the floor did not help. Her beautiful, beautiful locks!

Noelle was good. A little too good. Did she spend all her time practicing or something? Despite this fact though, Hadley was ready this time. "Protego!" Oh, she wasn't just blocking the spell, she was rebounding it, sending it straight back toooOOOOOH Merlin!
Noelle shot off another spell immediately after trying to disarm her. Too close to together for Hadley to block it too. So she ducked. More on reflex and instinct than conscious decision, but it worked. Barely. She felt the wind of the spell shoot over her. A second later and she would have been hit.
But still.
How awesome was Hadley Denaker? Pretty awesome right? She'd just avoided getting hit by two spells and was feeling great about it. In celebration she was dancing again. Oh, maybe Noelle wanted to celebrate with her. "Tarantallegra!" Was Drapes in the audience? Did he remember this little spell? Hadley loved this spell. "Dance with me, Noelle!"
But now Hadley was doing more than dancing. She was singing too. "It's the eye of the tiger. It's the thrill of the hunt. Rising up to the challenge of our rivals!" Oh! Maybe Noelle should sing too! "Cantis!" Merlin-in-mustard that took a lot out of her.

What was it with the students in this club and their desire to take away their opponent's hair? Was this a collective weakness in the student body? Was everyone that obsessed with their hair?!
You know, Hirsch didn't even want to know. What he did want to know, however, was why Haddie Denaker had suddenly started singing as if she was in a musical.
The expressions on his face might be unseen but that didn't stop the Defence Professor from letting a thoroughly confused expression cross his face. Was this a distraction tactic? Or something she was doing to big herself up? Make herself look better in front of the second year? Hirsch didn't know.
He'll just stand here and concentrate on things he knew, okay? Which didn't include the way teenagers' brains worked.
Spells were fired, shields were drawn and there was even a request to dance but soon enough, time put a stop to all of that. When the time had come, Hirsch struck up a magical shield between the two players. Sorry, no dancing today. "That was exceptional, I have to say," he said, making his way towards the two. A flick of his wand and all magical effects were taken away. Yes, Miss Summers, you get your hair back. "You've both put up a great fight but there can only be one winner so, congratulations, Miss Summers. Looks like all that training has paid off." Smile. "And very well done, Haddie."
