A long time ago, a secret corridor on the third floor led from the statue of a humpbacked witch all the way to Honeydukes in Hogsmeade. If one still knew the password that caused the witch to reveal the passageway, one might be able to convince her to move an inch or two...

But even then, the passageway is firmly blocked off and sealed. The only thing this witch is good for is they tiny hiding spot she reveals if a person can get her to budge.

Chloe liked the statues. They were comforting and offered ample space for her to rest against while she read her comics. Catwoman, mostly. She didn't need read about whiny boys of privilege. Or boys in general. Brilliant women with even more brilliant powers were more her speed.

So she liked to sit here and read. People usually didn't bother her here.

And so she read and laughed openly.

Typically, Rooney tucked himself away in a storage cupboard to get his rehearsals and research done, but he'd stumbled across some older students in his usual one and had been put off using it until he could get some bacterial spray or something. Cleanliness was an utmost importance in reciting lines and discovering a character. So he was on the search for another clean space, on a walk around the school.

A walk that... Okay, no. That wasn't right. "Miffy...? Miffy, is that you..?" Was this a repeat of last term? Girly laughing in places that didn't usually make girlish laughter usually meant that something was amiss. It didn't matter that this was a statue of a witch. Three full years in this castle and Roo had NEVER heard of it laughing.

The blonde stifled her laughter as soon as she heard a distinctly boy voice call out to her. Or Miffy. Whatever or whoever a Miffy was. She tried not to be offended but Chloe was so easily these days ~~and practically her whole life~~.

She peaked her head out behind the statue with the comic tucked behind her back and blew some stray hair out of her eyes, "What's a Miffy?" She cocked an unimpressed eyebrow at him, "Is that supposed to be me?"

With a good look at him now, Chloe knew it was her house's prefect Rooney. But he was the BOY prefect so that didn't fair very well for him on the judgement side of Chloe-dom.

As soon as a face came from behind the statue, Roo was well aware of who it was. It wasn't like he could miss the uh...artwork going on all up on it. He was all too familiar with seeing Miss Charlotte with similar things happening. And he hadn't yet thanks Miss Chloe for showing Miss Charlotte a thing or two that made her eyes look bigger and..well, there was a lot of people that Roo needed to thank for things about Miss Charlotte. Lip things. Her parents for her in general. -- Actually, he'd write to Miss Charlotte's Mama later. About her birthday maybe. He had to do sOMETHING. "You're not Miffy." He started, tucking his scripts under his arm and shoving his hands into his pockets.

"A Miffy is what happened last term. You're not her." Or it. Or..what did people call them nowadays? It was all very confusing.

"You're a Miss Chloe, the artist."

She was still lost on the miffy thing. If that was a term she was supposed to know Chloe felt really, really stupid. But she had a feeling it was a silly boy thing that she just didn't understand and didn't care to understand. She hoped it was the second. She hated not knowing things.

"No, I'm Chloe," she corrected him. Not a miffy. Whatever that was or whoever that was.

The Ravenclaw's face heated up-- it was want to do that to her face, she blamed freckles-- when he called her an artist. She clutched her comic tight, "I can't draw." At least not well. So if he was teasing her he was about to get an earful from a very opinionated, bossy thirteen year old girl.

Was she actually one of those girls that pronounced a simple name a different way and chastised someone when they didn't know? He was sure it was 'Chloe', though. Miss Charlotte ALWAYS called her that. Rooney was very confused, and it definitely showed. Girls confused him more than anything as much as he enjoyed their existence in leaps and bounds.

No. She WASN'T asking for help. And he was lucky that he didn't say such offensive things out loud; she didn't need help. Chloe didn't fancy herself an artist. But she did like makeup. And so he was quickly back in her good graces (as good as a boy could be) when he mentioned that.

She gave him the smallest hint of smile, "Makeup. It's called makeup. I don't think most people would consider it art." Although, now that she was thinking about it, it did take a lot of time and practice and concentration to do makeup. At least do makeup well.

Maybe he was on to something.

Hang on. "Wait, how did you know that?"

He ALSO knew the importance of a good brush - mainly because he'd heard some of the girls at camp talking about how there wasn't great brush cleaning facilities there. Muggles. Abby was feeling off today and she knew it when she was at the statue of the humpbacked witch and she decided to climb onto it and paint it to brighten it up just hoping that nobody would catch her out

Roo rocked back and forth on his heels and pushed his hair back. "Sometimes her lips taste like butterbeer." Which wasn't something he was against at all. In fact, that was well on it's way to being one of his favourites besides the normal lips without the gloss. Miss Charlotte was just yum, ehehehehehe. "Her eyes look pretty when she does the thing to it."

Because 'the thing' was a better definition than 'whatever', which was all he could describe anything specific to do with her face.

He just liked it whatever.

The Humpbacked Witch's statue was one of those which Kay was familiar with since her first year at Hogwarts. It was pointless to wonder if she would even be able to squeeze through it. For one thing, she was no longer that skinny and short girl. She reasoned she would just have a look at it again for old time's sake but when she got there, a peculiar sight met her.

Abby looked down and saw Professor Stewart standing there and she climbed down off the statue and stood there looking embarrassed because she had been caught out how was she going to explain about why she was caught doing what she was and she knew that she would just have to blame the voices in her head it may sound a bit crazy but it was true

Honestly, THIS was why girls didn't wear makeup for boys. They didn't know the difference between eyeliner and eyeshadow or a tinted moisturiser and a foundation. So no, girls did not wear makeup for boys.

Chloe would have been offended at his lack of knowledge if she didn't expect this kind of behaviour from boys. Hopeless, they were.

If Chloe had listed those things to Rooney then...well he would have just stared at her for an extended period of time and decided that she really was crazy and then he'd just return to his dorm and try make sense of the girls magazines he had. This was a difficult process for him to understand, and he really was trying to get it.

Also really trying to figure out if it was okay for him to use make up when he wasn't on stage. Sometimes he wanted to look more awake than he was. Was that allowed to be a thing?

Girls shouldn't be allowed all the fun.

"Oh. Sorry." Genuinely. And he was just about to be on his way, when he raised an eyebrow. "But why here..?"

Kay actually thought that she would have needed to prod Abby a bit more to get a response out of her. This was not so but her eyebrows shot up at the reply. Whatever answers she had been expecting, it wasn't this one. "I'm sorry? Are you saying more than one voice told you to? Or is this an elaborate excuse to escape any reprimand for your actions?'' That was why she didn't even bother mentioning it. Boys were hopeless with makeup. Well, most boys. One of her favourite makeup artists was a man and he did contour better than almost anyone. But men as wonderful as him were few and far between.

Kay arched a neatly plucked eyebrow in surprise? "How did that happen? If that's the case, are you not supposed to be safely in St Mungo's?'' Did Leo know about this? Did the Headmaster? Or did Cece? She needed to know the answer to this question as well. "Do either Mr Kitridge or Healer Tillstorm know of this?'' The woman wanted Abby to get well hence the prying questions.

Now.. That was something that he agreed with, at least. Older kids were gross. And the ones in their Common Room WERE probably the worst. In his books, anyway. "That's why I usually read in store cupboards. For the quiet. And no people." Except his usual one had been taken over by the gross older kids, but he couldn't exactly tell Miss Chloe about that. Especially when he was already sure she was ready to take her comic and quote it at him, give him a paper cut or another something he hadn't considered as an option.

It'd look good on his tombstone, though.

"I'll let you finish, anyway."
