History of Magic Lesson One As you walk into the History of Magic classroom, you will see that the room is set up as Professor Finch normally has it. There are small tables each with four chairs set up throughout the room with the student name tags that have been there sine the beginning of the year. Though he does like the alternative layout that the table and chairs provide, he also appreciates the order of the arranged seating. Professor Finch is found leaning casually against his desk at the front of the room, waiting to welcome students back to class after the holiday break. Find your seat, class will begin soon! OOC- Even though this is our first RPed History of Magic class of the term, this should not be your character's first History of Magic class this term! Your character should have been in class since the beginning of the school term in September =) |
The embarrassment of going to certain classes was now doubled, even after the holiday break. Jaemin slinked into the classroom, looking up from the floor at Professor Finch for only a minute before his eyes went back down and he made a beeline for his desk. He sank into his seat and reached for his nametag, absently playing with it to distract himself. No matter how hard he'd tried over the day... he still hadn't been able to make the colour-changing charm work correctly, and while this was an improvement over the weird light sky blue he had somehow turned it the night before, he was not a fan of his hair going through so many colour changes when all he wanted was for it to get back to its regular colour. He'd try again after class. Hopefully he'd be able to fix it between this one and the next one. |
Kitty crawled into the classroom without saying hello to anyone. She crawled underneath desks and chairs, pushing aside anything in her way that she could, and moving around everything she couldn't. Must find...must find...Kitty want... The Gothic zombie crawled towards the other student (Jaemin) to see if he had Moonstone powder. Kitty want! |

He leaned down and peered under the table, frowning. ...Ravenclaw girls were so weird. He had no idea what she was doing, but as long as she... didn't come near him or touch him while she was doing her weird thing... it was fine. Jaemin straightened up, still frowning, and tried to ignore her. |
Despite his generally detached attitude, Daxton had his fair share of interests and even a couple of favourite subjects at Hogwarts, and he considered History of Magic to be one of them. It was useful, interesting, and he could always spend hours of his own free time perusing books that told of years past in both the magical and normal world. Even so, when he stepped into the classroom, shoeless, sockless, and without his outer school robes (he had sold the set that had been anonymously owled to him, and not mentioned the occurrence to anyone), Daxton still appeared to be as withdrawn and brooding as ever. He took his usual seat by the door, paying no mind to the professor, and sat there in silence, keeping an eye on the other occupants of the room - namely, the Ravenclaw crawling around on the floor. For just a moment, Daxton wondered what was going on, but then he realised... he simply did not care. Settling back in his chair, he decided to pay more attention to the classroom door and those entering the room, though he was willing to give a hearty kick to anyone who tried to crawl around under his own table, housemate or otherwise. |
Azura's hazy purple eyes had caught sight of a bunch of people walking into a place of some sort. Must know eggs? Find Eggs in room? Azura find eggs? Make pretty song happy! Good Azura! Find eggs! The teen stumbled stiffly into the room..looking around almost wildly.. While still giving her dazed expression.. "Eggs? Azura find? Eggs?" Her voice was singsongish as she turned toward the Professor and awkwardly shuffled towards him. "Help Azura? Find eggs! Azura need eggs! " |
Not entirely sure why she STILL came to History of Magic after six and a half entire years of being rubbish at it, Norah smiled at Professor Finch and slid into her assigned seat. It wasn't his fault she was bad at remembering things, after all. The seventh year arranged her parchment and quills in front of her like always, taking a moment to admire the glittery purple ink she'd gotten for Christmas as it glinted in the classroom's light. That right there was the best thing in the entire world. She'd decided. |
Oliver slowly made his way to HoM class, kind of wishing his mum had let him stay home instead of returning to school. Not that there was anything wrong with History of Magic, it was just fine, but being in bed at home with his family was way more appealing right about now. And since he hadn't gone for his run this morning, he woke up late and was just feeling like a huge mess. Now he would just have to make sure he didn't fall asleep in class. Offering a small smile and a wave to the professor, he said, "Hello, Profes-" As he was saying hello, he heard a girl saying she needed eggs?? Good for her and all but did she have to be yelling it? "U-Um...sorry...hi professor." Ollie stood there watching the girl who seemed to call herself Azura. Lowering his voice so only Finch could hear, he asked, "Is she okay???" This was seeming a lot like whatever was going on with that Mason girl and he wasn't really wanting to deal with something so weird on his first day back from break. |
Where were all people going? Were they going to stone. . . ? Did all know where Mason could find Moonstone. . . ? Mason must follow them, Mason must find stone. . . they help Mason find stone. . . Lulla and Glowy have sent Mason nother sign, many-unimportant-voices knew where stone was. . . and Mason need to follow them. . . . . . Stumbling into the classroom, Mason immediately spotted Lulla's others. . . her own share-person, Dark-Girl, was already crawling onto one boy (Songbird) whilst the rest of the unimportant-voices seemed to not even care. . . hmmmmm. . . was this part of plan to get stone. . . ? Mason hope so. . . Mason running out of time. . . Mason need find. . . "Mason need find stone. . . " find, find, find, find, find. . . |

Out of the corner of her eye she noticed her companion (Mason) had also entered the room and were searching. Good. More searchers, more chance to please the Music... She crawled right underneath the boy's desk and looked at his pockets. "Kitty wants Moonstone!" |
Torie followed the students into the classroom. So many shinies! So many sparkles, he needed his gold and started stumbling forward looking for the biggest one that he could get his hands on. Gold, he needed gold. He got earrings, but those were too small, he needed more gold. "Find gold..." he mumbled as he walked past one of the girl looking for eggs. "Must find gold...." he repeated in the mumbled voice. He needed more gold, he knew if he had lots of gold the forest would be happy. |

...apparently it wasn't just Kitty. Something seemed to be wrong with both Azura and Mason, and some boy Jaemin was sure he'd never seen before. The small Slytherin's eyes widened and he pushed his chair back a little further, putting himself out of Kitty's immediate reach, and fumbled at his pocket for his wand. "What are you doing?" he yelled, holding up his leg and putting his foot between himself and Kitty, fingers clumsy as they tried to find the right pocket. Why didn't he keep his wand in one specific place? He was so going to hex her if she touched him. This was not a funny prank at all. |
Echo made it through the doors in time. She though she was late.. did she get the time wrong.. well it looked like it because not a lot of people were around. Echo said hello to the Professor "Hi Professor" she said while going to find her name plate to sit at her desk. She sat down and placed her bag on the floor beside her, waiting for her table mates to come she started to listen to the converstation that was going on around her. wait.. what was going on with the students... the younger ones were acting werid than normal. "heyy, guys stop it... what are you doing?" they all seemed to be looking for things, if that slytherin was going to lose them house points Echo was going to be so mad. |
Book. Must find book. Esme let herself wander into the room. Book had to be inside here. Ignoring everyone around her, she began looking along the tables and lifting anything and everything that COULD be lifted. Where is book??? "Need book!" she exclaimed. |
SPOILER!!: Jaemin and Kitty Ansley turned to smile at the first student to arrive. Huh. No greeting for him? Well. Ansley was unfazed. “Good morning, Jaemin. Hope you’re doing well.” Interesting hair color, but Ansley was all for creative self-expression. And then he raised a very unimpressed eyebrow as Kitty crawled in. What on earth…? “Hello, Kitty,” he called towards her as she found her way under a table. He initially dismissed it as her having lost something and she was looking for it. At least class hadn’t started yet and he could be a little flexible until then. He turned to greet a few more students as they arrived, his head snapping back as he heard Jaemin yelling. Was she still…? Ugh. “Miss Valentine, get out from under the table,” he snapped. That was borderline ridiculous at this point. She could find whatever it was that she lost after class. Quote:

ooc - Class will officially begin in 6-8 hours, so if your character hasn't arrived yet, you still have a little time before we get started =) |
Talk of book... Esme turned to the man. He knew where book was? He had to give to her. She NEEDED book. "Have spell book?" she asked pleadingly. "Esme need spell book." Give to her. Give her spell book please. |
History of Magic was not one of Fiyero's favorite subjects. He had nothing against Professor Finch, of course; it was just that trying to memorize so many names and dates made his brain hurt! Today he was even more distracted than ever, with so many students in the castle acting odd. First there was that guy in the boys' dorms, then the girl smashing a toilet, then that other girl in Professor Myers's office asking for thorns. Now as he entered the classroom, there was yet another student behaving strangely, this time a girl asking for eggs. What was going on?! He wracked his brains, trying to figure out what was making them act that way. Was it a powerful Confusion Charm? Maybe they'd had their memories modified, or maybe... His heart dropped as he considered a much more disturbing possibility. What if whatever was wrong with them was caused by dark magic... like the Imperius Curse or (Merlin forbid!) something even worse? He sighed. Now he felt horrible for hexing that kid in the dorm... though to be fair, he hadn't known he could be cursed at the time. He thought he was just going through everyone's stuff to be a jerk... Fiyero absentmindedly made his way to his assigned seat. It was only after he'd taken his book, quill, and parchment out of his bag that he noticed he'd been so caught up in trying to riddle out what happened to his classmates that he'd walked right by Professor Finch without a word. "Oh!" he exclaimed, looking up. "Hello, Professor Finch." He hoped the teacher would forgive the late greeting. He didn't mean to be rude; he was just worried about the others! |
Azura tilted her head as she was spoken too.. "Eggs? Must find.. Azura find them? Help Azura? " She asked the professor as she stared dazed up at him. Seat? Seat not important.. Eggs important. Song needed eggs., pretty pretty eggs. Azura find them for song.. "Find? Eggs? Snake eggs? Azura need. Please help! " she managed to get out as she stiffly looked around. |
Torie didn't even hear the professor say his name or if he had he didn't acknowledge it. He just lumbered around the room looking around for gold. He had to find his gold! He looked at everyone with his dull eyes but not into their eyes or listening as they spoke "Must find gold" he mumbled as he searched for his shiny gold. He needed gold! The earrings weren't enough! |
Janelle arrived for History of Magic and went inside the classroom. "Hello Professor Finch", she said cheerfully. She was just about to head for her seat, when she noticed some very strange goings on. "Oh here we go", she thought to herself. Things had been a little too normal at Hogwarts for quite some time. Now there were students moving around the room, apparently looking for something and talking in a very un-normal way. What in the world was up? Only at Hogwarts could the abnormal make things seem strangely normal. With a sigh, Janelle went to her seat and sat down. She dropped her bag on the floor and sat back, legs outstretched. Let the show begin. |
From very early on in the year it had become clear to Daxton that Finch now had some grasp of at least the very basics of sign language. Perhaps it was for that reason, or perhaps because he was in a lesson he liked enough to generally stay in until the end, that he gave an almost imperceptible nod in response to the greeting, and left it at that. Or... maybe not. Daxton looked down at his feet as Finch commented on them, and considered his words. After a moment, he adjusted his position so that he was cross-legged in his seat, feet tucked underneath his legs and covered, just as Finch had said. He glanced up at the professor, no insolence or belligerence in his expression. It had not been a 'smart-alecky' way to address the issue, but simply the most literal solution to hand. Looking away from Finch again, Daxton could not hope to ignore the other students in the class acting strangely, each wholly unnerving. Though Daxton was not a people-person, he tended to keep a close eye on those around him, and he knew that plenty of these kids were speaking in a manner that was unlike them. Though he did not necessarily care why they were acting as such, that did not stop him from feeling incredibly uncomfortable, anxious, on edge. He gripped his notebook tighter and slid it closer to himself across the desk, wondering if today might be a day that he would need to make a run for it. Ideally not, because History was one class that Daxton liked to see through until the end, but ideals, he knew, were for idiots. |

Blink. Blink. Blink. He wanted her to move. Was he going to help her? She crawled over to where Professor Ansley was and looked up at him pleadingly. "Kitty wants Moonstone. Professor is smart. Professor help Kitty find Moonstone." "Professor is smart." And Kitty want Moonstone. |
While Jaemin didn't talk to Kitty a lot, he knew enough to know that this was weird. Was she messing with him? The small boy hopped out of his seat and stepped back a bit more, frowning at her. Whatever she was doing bothered him. It wasn't funny that there were a bunch of them doing it, either. "I think someone's trying out a Confundus spell or something," he murmured, looking around at the weirdos with one hand in his pocket. He'd found his wand, finally, but he wouldn't pull it out unless he needed to. As Kitty made her way toward Finch, the small boy reached to grip the back of his chair. The professor seemed... unconcerned. Maybe he knew something the miniature Slytherin didn't. He did give Kitty a warning look through, just in case she decided to circle back to him. Stay away from us, you. |
"Hello, sir," Juno said as she came in to class...then noticed about half of the students were acting super strange, including her twin sister. This was getting out of hand and getting really scary. She was very worried about her sister. She placed her things on her desk and watched the students making their bizarre requests. She walked over to Professor Finch, "Sir, what is wrong with them? It's really starting to scare me. They have been like this for...days." Juno wasn't the scared type. But when it came to her sister...anything that had to do with hurting her in anyway...scared her. |

“That is enough, Azura. Find your seat.” He was no longer amused. It was time to start class. Quote:

And he could see that Torie was still wandering around. What was with these kids? Quote:
And even though his classroom only seemed about half full, he was starting class now. No more delays. Ansley might have to speak to a few Heads of House about students skipping class though. "Alright, everyone... if you are not in your seats, get there. NOW." He was done with whatever game these kids were playing, it was time to start class. "Today we are going to start off talking about the Wizard's Council. What do you know about the Wizards Council?" He looked around the room a moment. "You can turn to page 212 in your textbooks and read a little bit about it there, if you are unfamiliar with it. Then please summarize something about it in your own words, or tell us something that you found interesting about it." Really, anything at all, but he needed to get the ball rolling on a discussion. |
