| | Herbology Lesson II - Honking Daffodils and Screechsnaps
Today’s lesson setup is a little bit different than the past. The desks are set up in a half circle facing the front of the room; Paul’s table is situated close enough so that the students can all see him and what’s on the table clearly. Paul was thinking of trying this setup for the rest of the year, too, depending on how it went.
Teachers. Getting all excited about new desk formations.
Paul was dressed crazily, which was NOT an every day thing; he hadn’t dressed up in a lesson since the first one in September! Today, though, he donned a Mad Hatter outfit, and he was sipping tea as he sat on his desk at the front of the room. And no, don’t worry kids. No tea for this lesson. No shrinking, no change of size at ALL.
But…..
There were screechsnaps and honking daffodils in their little pots on the ground near Paul’s table. The daffodils sounded like little ducks, but when distraught their honking can be louder and more...incessant. The screechsnaps shrieked more than honked, their little voices shrill enough to cut to the bone. Paul was used to the noise and merely hummed a tune as he waited for students to pile in and have a seat at a desk, occasionally yelling, “GRAB A HONKING DAFFODIL BEFORE YOU SIT.” OOC: I'll be moving on in 24 hours! <3

She had never really re-potted flowers before.. and she was scribbling down notes all the while attempting to follow along..
All right.. She was getting slightly behind and she put her pen down (She hadn't even bothered to take off her gloves) And then started to follow what the Professor was saying.. All right..
She put one of her rather tiny hands up to the flower and carefully grabbed it on the stem just under the bloom, making sure to not crush any of the leaves.. she really didn't want to hurt the flower after all. "I'm going to move you to a bigger pot in a little bit okay?" She said softly to the Daffodil.. "First I need to hold onto you.. so don't freak out okay?" Since it still had the silencing charm on it.. She couldn't tell if it understood or not.. But she was going to go with yes.. For her own sanity..
Now, she carefully scooped up some of the old soil and moved it into the new pot and mixed it up with the new soil.. There.. She added a handful more.. before looking back at the flower.. "All right.. Just bear with me here okay? This could be tricky and slow and I want to be careful." She explained to it with a smile.. Gently petting the leaves of her flower as she geared up for the next few steps.. |

| lala catching up :P Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict Of course Brooklyn was grumpy. More accurately, she was just irritated, at having to go outside when there had been acromantulas again, at having to deal with the loudness of said daffodils and other insanity. She still at least semi-respected the professor, though, which was why she didn’t respond to his little question of if all was well with a snide remark. Honestly, she still could barely hear him anyhow, given the earplugs. It was what kept her from just turning and leaving. That and the fact the daffodil she’d brought to her station had seemed to understand her glare. At least it had quietened slightly, even though it was still honking. It had made it simple to slip her gloves on, since there was an arrangement now. As long as her daffodil didn’t annoy her, she’d stop glaring. Plus, she’d leaned back as another pot was placed at her station.
She had sent a speculative look toward the professor as she thought she’d heard him say they could use spells on their daffodils, too. Specifically, a Silencing charm, which was intriguing to her. She wondered if they could silence everything that annoyed them, but still kept that to herself. Instead, she merely took her wand out and cast. “Silencio!” Now the honking was definitely less, nearly to the point she could dare to take the earplugs out. She kept them close, though, just in case they’d be needed again. Obviously some people had some sort of bias against the quiet. She needed her hearing to play after all.
With maybe a brief glance at those daffodil defenders, she went over to fill the pot halfway with dirt. The idea of talking someone into doing it for her had occurred, but by now she’d decided it was simpler to do things herself. These things anyway. Things that needed her critical eye. Either way, now that her pot was half full, she returned to her daffodil, lowering the strength of her silencing charm enough that it could honk softly. It was pathetic watching it try to honk and realize no sound was coming out. She could be nice when she wanted to.
Carefully grasping the stem right underneath the flower, she gently scooped dirt out and into the new pot. Just enough to loosen the soil but not enough that the plant wasn’t supported. She was smart enough to be able to follow that direction. Just because she didn’t consider Herbology one of her preferred subjects didn’t mean she was going to be reckless. In any case, it was time to transfer the daffodil. “Ready to move?,” she asked it quietly, slipping a gloved hand carefully into the loosened dirt until she was cupping the rootball. Lifting her hand, she watched the daffodil as the soft honking nearly took on a questioning tone. At least it was still quiet.
Setting the rootball into the new pot, on top of the dirt, she returned her attention to the old pot. Leaving one hand to support the daffodil, she used the other to tip the smaller pot and transfer the rest of the dirt into the new one and around the plant. A few pats to the surface and she sat back to eye the stem. It looked like it was going to be supported. There wasn’t any more dirt in the old pot to add, anyhow. What was there would just have to do.

| ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Glancing at the daffodil, Esme couldn't help but feel bad. The poor thing was honking away even though no sound was coming out. "Wow, you must hate me right now. I'm sorry." But really it had needed to be done because it was very noisy and she needed to get this done headache free. As cute as the daffodil was, the honking was very tedious.
Caaaaarefully she grabbed the stem while being super careful not to crush the leaves. "Sorry!" she said again in case she was hurting the poor thing. Plants were living things and she didn't want to hurt any of them if she could. Nature was a wonderful thing after all and she did love flowers. When she was older she was going to have her own big garden just like the one that her mom kept at home. And she would also grow vegetables and fruits! It was going to be wonderful.
Furrowing her brows slightly in concentration, she set about siphoning out some of the soil while leaving enough for the roots. This was followed by another "Sorry!" as she gently tugged on the plant while her other hand made its way under the roots. Once it had been pulled out, Esme placed it into the new pot. The rest of the roots were buried, and she made sure to fill the dirt up so that it stopped an inch from the top.
Pleased, she waited patiently for the next instructions. |

It was finally full quite, all the flowers weren't honking any more. Echo felt that it was safe enough to put her ear muffs back in her bag. While she was doing this she was given more instructions, and she knew it she had to get more dirtier. ggggrrreeaaatttt.
Following her steps she put her hand in her flower and grabbed the biggest stem and she found it Echo made sure that she didn't touch any of the leaves. with the other hand free Echo pushed the dirt around so she didn't hurt any of the little roots under the dirt.. She gave a gentle tug and the part that she didn't like was putting her hand in the dirt to help pull it out. now she fully pulled and the plant came out. Placing it quickly in the new planter
Now that it was safely in the new planter Echo held the stem and put new/old dirt in, she thought that mixing the dirt would be a good idea. Hopefully she was right. Letting her fingers go on the grip of the plant and it didn't move, so she fully let go, stepping back she dusted her gloves off and was really proud of herself.

Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Fiyero blinked dumbly at Professor Myers's directions. He had no idea repotting plants was so involved! Setting to work, he examined the main stem of his plant, looking for a spot to grab where there wouldn't be many leaves to get in the way. All the while, the daffodil was honking incessantly - but silently. "I know, silencing charms are no fun," Fiyero said, giving the flower a little pat. "If you're good, I'll take it off."
He grabbed the stem as close to the bloom as he could without disturbing any if the leaves and began to siphon dirt into the larger pot with his other hand. Transferring dirt one-handed was tougher than it looked, but Fiyero managed. Now came the hard part, getting the plant out of the pot. He slowly maneuvered his hand under the daffodil, taking extra care not to hurt any of the roots. Despite the silencing charm, he could still tell the.flower was honking its head off... apparently it didn't like having its roots touched. "Sorry," he apologized.
Cupping his hand under the daffodil, Fiyero gave it a gentle tug, and the plant came loose with a soft pop. Was that sound normal? Had he accidentally broken something? The plant wasn't acting agitated - or at least no more than it had been- so he assumed it was fine. He placed it in the new pot, carefully arranging the rest of the old dirt around it. The flower was still noiselessly honking, but it seemed a bit happier now. "There, that wasn't so bad, was it?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Bramble "Bram" Wyatt Lennox Graduated | Steps 3-7 ThunderPUFF | Whoodley | MRD&LKD | Graphics Queen | Tristalen | Mrs. A | Hunny Bun Juno watched as the professor transplanted the flower to another pot. It looked simple enough, but she was scared to harm the flowers roots. "Bare with me little one. Soon you will have a new home." Her mother always told them talking to the flowers made them happy and helped them grow faster.
Juno started the transplanting. She gently gripped the stem just below the bloom, making sure that she didn't crush any leaves, or grip too hard. Even though she couldn't hear it anymore, the flower was still honking like crazy. She felt bad for it but knew this was going to make it happier.
She checked the next step on the board. While still gently holding on to the stem, she started to siphon out some of the old dirt into the new pot. She made sure that she didn't take too much out, as to not disturb the roots of her flower, but took out just enough to be able to mix with with the new dirt.
This was the scary part. "I am sorry if this hurts you little one, but you will be much happier in your new pot." She then gently tugged on the flower, making sure she didn't tug too hard. It gave a silent little honk at the tub which made Juno feel really bad. After tugging, she reach into the dirt, and propped her hand under the roots.
She then gently pulled the flower and all of its roots out of the dirt. Thank goodness she hadn't hurt the flower! She placed the flower in it's new home, burying the roots and filled up the pot with more dirt and made double sure that she was only an inch from the top. "How's that little one?" She asked the flower with a small smile on her face.

Now that the other pot was all ready for the daffodil it was time to actually transfer it over. He gave a little tug, not too hard or he'd tug the top right off and that would be bad. With his other hand he reached into the dirt and got under the roots as best he could. It seemed fine. He really did not want to break any parts of the flower off so he went slowly. But eventually he did get the whole thing out of the pot in one piece. He was pretty proud of himself for achieving that. Putting it into the other pot should be the easy part. It wasn't as nerve wracking that much was definitely true.
Once he got the daffodil comfortably into the pot he relaxed a bit. Nothing had broken or fallen off. All he had to do now was put more dirt into the new pot. He made sure the roots were buried and then kept filling until there was only about an inch from the top before the dirt started.

Grab the stem. Mix the dirt. Grab the flower. Move the flower. Add more dirt. Easy enough.
She gently held the daffodil by the stem, careful not to hurt the petals, and moved some of the dirt out of the way to the other pot. So far so good. Just a little more and she should be able to loosen the dirt enough to get to the roots.
Alright. That should do it. She carefully wiggled her other hand under the roots and tried to free her flower. Come on. Let go roots. Let it go.

| 1-4 A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
When the Professor duplicated the hat on top of his head and gave one to her, the Gryffindor let out a laugh and said a quick thank you. The hat however was too big for her so she had to held it up with one hand otherwise it would fall over her eyes. But she was not taking it off.
The daffodil on her desk was making a lot of loud noises and Rebecca would have had a hard time focusing on the Professor’s words if he hadn’t yelled like he was doing now. Silencing the plants sounded like a good idea though and Bec gladly took her phoenix feather wand out of her wrist holster.
But first! The gloves. Good thing she had heard that part. She had no idea what kind of plants these were but she bet they were dangerous if they had to wear gloves! With her gloved hands she pointed her wand at the Daffodil and said “Silencio!” to her amazement, the spell worked right away.
Then grabbing an empty bucket , the Gryffindor turned around to scoop up some dirt to fill the pots halfway. …Grab the daffodil by the stem? Bec blinked, which wasn’t noticeable because the hat on top of her head had slid down to cover her eyes. She quickly pulled It up and saw the Professor grabbing the what she supposed was, the stem under the bloom of the flower. Not wanting to miss anything , the eleven year old decided to take off the hat and placed it on top of her bag and made a mental note to leave some gummy worms for the Professor later.
She took hold of the stem with her gloved hands and after looking around to see if she was doing what everyone else was, and with another hand she siphoned some of the dirt from the old pot into the new pot. Mixing the dirt a little, Bec stayed quiet while she was working, tongue sticking out a little as she focused. She wasn’t as crazy as the majority of the students who TALKED and APOLOGIZED to their plants! .

| ★ wannabe historian ★ Baekry Okay, Tim could do this. Maybe a little too many steps to take in but thankfully the professor had written them down. The blonde carefully read on what to do first while repeating in her head what Myers had said about being careful. As she carefully grabbed the daffodil in the right place, Tim began moving some of the dirt out of the pot and gently tugged on the plant while doing so. So far so good and she hadn't crushed any of the leaves, that was a plus there. When enough dirt was out, Tim scooped under the root and lifted the plant out. Carefully moving it to the new pot, she set it inside and covered the roots, up to where Myers had said to stop. Tim measured the distance of the top of the pot till where the dirt stopped. It was most likely an inch apart, maybe a little more? But she was going to leave it as it was just to be safe. She'll just add more afterwards if needed. Hopefully it won't but who knows.

It seemed everyone was getting to be done or NEAR done, at least! Paul smiled and went back to his table at the front of the room. "Very good, everyone! I think the daffodils are now MUCH happier than before!" he gestured at his own, whose bloom was drooping as if it were asleep. Awww, how precious! "Now we're going to UN-silence them. I don't typically silence them at all, but I figured you're all new to dealing with these flowers, or at least haven't been doing it as long as I have." That number did not need to be revealed. Ahem. "So, go ahead and un-silence them with a quick FINITE." That would do the trick. Paul waved his wand and silently un-silenced his flower, which was making ZERO noises because yes, it seemed to have fallen asleep. It was snoring quite lightly. "Now, your daffodil may or may not still be honking! If it's still honking, you need to give it either water, fertilizer, or both! There's no way to really tell which it wants, but I would try the water first...and if it stops honking, hold off on the fertilizer." It was just safer that way. "As Tenacius said, they probably DO need water. They're thirsty! Repotting them takes a good amount of energy for the little guys." He smiled and gently pat the top of the flower. "So, get to that, m'dears! Once you're finished with your daffodil--once it stops honking--place the pot in the back of the room and come grab a screechsnap off the ground before sitting back down." Paul smirked and rubbed his hands together. The students were IN for it with the screechsnaps. This group were particularly feisty because of the whole...Daxton business. Being turned ENORMOUS for about month before Paul could shrink them back down to the their normal size. It made them only slightly more aggressive, but feisty enough to be quite hard to handle.
So this should be jolly good fun! "Oh! There are buckets of fertilizer in the back of the room." It smelled. They wouldn't be able miss it. OOC: Hello again! So I guess I WAS tired because its a little less than 36 hours later! But that's totally okay, I enjoyed reading all of the posts because all the characters are just too funny, lol! I'll give you guys about 24 hours to do the next few instructions! <3

| catching up, steps 3-7 elephant-astic•wanderlust•stay in the ninedaaays the original Taco Belle•look at the flowers✿ Eying the daffodil curiously, Maddie reached out and took hold of the main stem. She watched for any signs of discomfort as the plant could no longer voice such things. No unusual movement occurred and so she used her free hand to scoop some of the dirt from the smaller pot and into the bigger one. A little piece of home the daffodil could keep with it. She quite liked thinking of it like that.
This next part seemed a bit intrusive but the Ravenclaw went ahead and dug her free hand into the dirt around the plant until she'd located the roots. She checked again for any signs that she was doing damage to the daffodil and when she was sure she wasn't, she moved her hand in a fluid movement and cupped the roots. "Hope you're ready to move." Because it was time to repot.
Tugging gently, Maddie manage to get the daffodil out on the second try, making a mess of her workspace in the process. Lucky she wasn't too concerned with dirt. Once the daffodil was settled in the larger pot, she clapped the dirt off her hands and poured the remaining dirt from its old pot into the new one, covering all the important parts of the plant.
Now to test if she'd done well, hm?
Taking hold of her wand, the seventh year ended the silencing spell and listened, curious. She was satisfied to find that the daffodil was now honking away, although much less loudly. This was a sigh of content, yes? Good, that's what they seemed to be going for.

She looked at the flower for a moment as she tried to gently cup her hands around it's delicate outreaching, life giving parts.. No broken or smushed roots on her watch! Nope, Her Flower was going to live.. and be happy.. "All right Sunshine.." Yes, she was calling her flower Sunshine now, she had just decided that. "Just bear with me for a little bit longer okay?" She asked it as she gently started to pull the flower upwards, it took a bit.. and she had to tug ever so slightly.. but she got it out of the pot! Then with the roots still in her hand..gently as well as super slowly moved the flower over to the other pot and set it down in the dirt!
Phew!! Azura was panting a little as she let out a breath.. She had been holding it to make sure nothing disturbed Sunshine's ride through the air.. "There you are Sunshine, that's so much better huh?" She asked as she held her plant still and carefully poured the rest of the dirt from the old pot, back into the new pot.. She smiled warmly at the flower as it filled up the rest of the way and she let go of the stem.. "All right, Sunshine.." She whispered to her plant as she looked up at Professor Meyers as he explained what they needed to do next.. Undo the silencing spell.. Water and or fertilizer.. Got it..
She aimed her wand at the plant and said "Finite!" |

| Ability is nothing without Opportunity | | Creativity is Intelligence having FUN Yeah he was getting ahead of himself. Occupational hazard of a Gryffindor yeah?
He was making funny faces with his Honking Daffodil when Professor Mad-as-a-Hatter gave them the go signal to do just as he had asked earlier. Finally! Tenacius took off a glove, grabbed his wand and aguamenti'd the pot thoroughly. Since he didn’t really enforce the muffling charm, he didn’t need to undo anything. And his daffodil, content as it was even more so with the water, was just bobbing its bloom happily. Not a peep. Yep happy customer right here.
Back of the room it went, the Gryffindor managing to give it a pat goodbye. May have been a brief, but they bonded over that no-silencio decision moment.
And now for the screechsnap-- whoah there did it wake up on the wrong side of the bed and didn’t have its plant coffee yet? Tenacius blue-green gaze grew large as he had to figure out just how he was going to get a hold of the pot, and when he did-- had to hold the plant at arm's length . "Oi! Relax will you?" he retorted at the prissy plant. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Lola A. Second Year | Continuing to catch up! Mischievous Niffler "It's a good thing I have gloves for this," Kitty muttered to herself as she proceeded to the next step.
Carefully she reached her hand into the old pot and ran her fingers down the stem, stopping when she reached below the bloom so that her hand was holding the exact spot she was supposed to. Before continuing Kitty turned to see the students next to her to be sure she was holding in the right spot. If she was going to be wrong then that meant they were wrong too. She adjusted accordingly. Then with her other hand she siphoned some of the dirt out of the part like the instructions said - and how much she siphoned out also depended on how much the people next to her did. Professor Myers hadn't specifically said how much to take out and this was the part that Kitty was most unsure of, so she was glad to be able to see what the others were doing. "Okay here we go," said Kitty as she prepared for the most delicate and precise step of all: removing the plant with the roots intact and transferring to the other pot. She dug her fingers into the soil (once more happy to have gloves) and felt around for where the roots were. She went all the wall to the bottom of the pot to make sure she wasn't going to cut off any root. Then she began to loosen them, while tugging as gently as she could on the plants stem with her other hand. Slowly she applied more pressure until it started moving.
Slowly the daffodil was removed from the pot. "Please don't break!" she said nervously as she felt the plant come up. But Kitty was gentle and soon the daffodil was removed from its original pot unharmed. She placed it inside the new plot and began refilling it with soil.

Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Question for Professor Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Fiyero dusted off his gloves, listening to Professor Myers's next set of instructions. Yay, they finally got to take the silencing charm off. "Finite," he said with a quick flick of his wand; the flower replied with a cacophonous round of honking. Fiyero laughed. "And a honk-honk to you, too!"
He assumed all the honking must mean the plant wanted water. Well, that was easy enough! "Aguamenti," he said, pointing his wand at the dirt until it was sufficiently damp. There, that should do the trick, Fiyero thought... except the flower was still honking!
Oh, great...it must need fertilizer. Fiyero picked up his pot, taking it to the back of the room where the fertilizer was. He thought that would be easier that trying to bring the fertilizer to the plant. He wrinkled his nose slightly as he shoveled some into the pot. Ugh, this stuff smelled horrible! He was really glad he was wearing gloves right now...
He finally finished with the fertilizer, but for some reason, his daffodil hadn't stopped honking. Why? Had he done something wrong? Maybe this particular flower just liked to make noise. He raised his hand. "Professor, what if your flower keeps honking, even after you've given it water and fertilizer?" he asked.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Addison Ayers First Year | Catch Up!! Quote:
1. Silence daffodils
2. Fill the empty pot halfway up with dirt
3. Grab the stem right below the bloom without crushing any leaves - be very careful!
4. Siphon some of the dirt out of the pot, but not ALL of it because you don’t want to harm the roots
5. Gently tug on the plant, and reach into the dirt, trying to prop your hand up under the roots
6. Pull the flower out and place into the new pot
7. Bury the rest of the roots and fill up the rest of the pot with dirt, leaving an inch from the top
Kye had grabbed a daffodil that was almost screeching by the time it was at her station. She felt like a terrible parent... -_-
Barely able to hear the professor, Kye leaned in a bit to hear the directions. Okay good, so first things first was to shut this thing up. She liked flowers as much as the next person, but she liked them to shut. up.
Kye pulled out her wand. "Silencio!" she yelled. To her satisfaction, the daffodil stopped making so much noise. It seemed a little irritated about it, too. Ha!
Now that she could concentrate a bit better Kye went back over the instructions. She put her gloves on, and started filling the empty pot. She put a little more than halfway and was debating if she should dump some back... Okay, she put a couple of handfuls back.
Now focusing on the daffodil again, Kye took a sharp breath. Don't kill it, please don't kill it. She placed her hand on the stem, and tried to position it just right. Don't crush the leaves!!! She wanted a pretty flower when she was done, not a suffering one. She took off some of the dirt and gently tugged on the plant. She felt this may be a bit easier for her with her smaller hands than some of these older kids... but she was expecting to rip the head off of the daffodil any moment now!
She had to take off a bit more dirt, and tug again, but this time it worked! She could swear she heard the sound of ripping, but the daffodil finally freed from the pot! Hooray! She dumped it into her new bigger pot and scooped some more dirt inside. Wiping sweat with her shirt, she wondered if she was doing alright or if the daffodil would've cried with pain if it could. |

| Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee If the professor didn't say they HAD to silence their daffodils in the first place, then Dot wasn't going to do it. She gave her daffodil a calming pat and sang to it quietly, hoping that she could sooth the savage... plant... with her demeanor. It worked with animals all the time.
The patting hand went under the bloom to grab the stem, and then Dot quickly transferred soil into the new pot. She really really hated the feeling of dirt on her fingers, and it was lucky she liked this plant and she had on gloves, or she'd be making GACK faces all over the place. As it was, there was a tiny frown line between her eyebrows.
She slid her hand down further to the roots, gently untangling them from the packed dirt until the entire flower could be lifted from the pot. Up and over and into its new home, where Dot emptied out the contents of her pot and settled her little green friend into his happy little nest. "See? That wasn't so bad."
At the next direction, Dot just grinned and patted the flower again. It didn't need to be unsilenced, because she'd let it express its displeasure freely. And now there was just mild, quiet honking, which meant... "Aquamenti". A little bit of water. A little bit of fertilizer. A little bit of quiet admiration to let it know what a very brilliant and happy and kind plant it had been, and then the daffodil was taken to the back of the classroom.

She carefully transferred the flower to the larger pot. Holding the daffodil in place, she carefully dumped the rest of the dirt from the smaller pot into the larger one.
Alright.
She cast a "Finite" and smiled when the daffodil remained quiet. She gave it a quick pat on the plant, which, was probably a bad idea, whoops.
She headed to the back of the room and set her daffodil back there. She then grabbed a screechsnap and returned to her seat.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Amari Rey Fifth Year | Bashful Bowtruckle ♥ ♥ Lassie's Sweet Pea Oliver could see his little daffodil was still honking silently but it seemed way less agressive so he quickly used finite and smiled at the somewhat quiet honking it was doing. "I like you much better this way." He pet it again, just for good measure. And noooow to water it. Pointing his wand at the soil, he said, "Aguamenti" and hoped just the right amount of water came out at a decent pressure. And though the pressure seemed a bit rough, he stopped as soon as he felt the plant was watered enough and stared at the daffodil. "All...better now?" The plant was still honking away so Ollie gave it another minute or two to see if it needed to adjust.... Sadly, the honking never stopped.
Sighing, Oliver squinted his eyes at the plant. "Did I water you too much? Do you hate me now?" He received a loud HONK! right in his face which Ollie took to mean yes. He was just going to hope the fertilizer he'd add would soak up whatever extra water was there and make the plant happy.
He got up and went to the back of the room in search of the fertilizer and eventually found it by it's horrible stench. Great. He really had wanted to leave class smelling like....fertilizer, for lack of a better word. Taking a bag of the stuff back to his seat, he starting pouring some into the daffodil's pot and it stopped honking almost immediately. "You don't hate meeee!" This was great news. "Thanks for being patient, little buddy. Now let's get you with your family." Carefully picking up the pot, he made his way to the back of the classroom and set the daffodil down with its other friends and family. "They grow up so fast." Oliver was going to have to make sure to visit his daffodil from time to time. For whatever reason, he had grown attached.
Making his way up to the front of the class, he grabbed a very angry screechsnap and made his way back to his seat. "I have a feeling you're not going to be as nice, are you?" O_o

Olly wasn't really looking forward to unsilencing his daffodil. It had not sounded very pleasant before and he didn't want to experience it again. But he supposed it had to be done. He couldn't know whether or not it was comfortable if he couldn't hear whether or not it was trying to honk. He just hoped that he would be able to solve any issues fairly quickly to stop the honking. "Finite." He prepared himself for the honking that was about to start. And it definitely started. The first thing he tried was water because that was what Professor Myers had suggested. "Aguementi." He didn't want to give too much water, but he definitely wanted to make sure it was enough. The honking got quieter and then stopped. Yay! That meant it had only needed water and he didn't have to worry about the fertilizer!
With a smile on his face, Olly took his pot to the back of the room and set it in the indicated area. He grabbed a screeshsnap - which was also not making a very pleasant noise - and went back to his seat. What were they going to do to get that to stop being loud?

| ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Looking down at her daffodil, Esme watched it continue to honk away. Yeaaaaah. Clearly it wasn't happy enough right now. Oops? At least she had given it a new home. "Sorry little flower, soon you will be a lot more comfortable." So what if she was talking to a plant? That was something that her mother told her and Juno that they should do. Apparently it made them content and grow faster. Huh. "FINITE!"
Well, she hadn't missed that sound but that would be dealt with soon and at least it was cute. Esme really liked her little flower even if it was noisy. With a small smile she used Aguamenti to water the soil while making sure not to use too much or too little. That fact had been hammered into her skull by both her mother and the Professor so she definitely knew how much to use. "Okaaaay, you are still honking at me so it looks like I need to give you some fertilizer..." That should do the trick then. She was almost done with this part and wasn't looking forward to working with a screechsnap because they made her feel awkward. What if she did something wrong??? She didn't want it squirming around and making angry noises at her.
Taking the pot to where the fertilizer was, she made a face. Ewwww, so smelly. At least she was wearing gloves but could she please have nose plug as well?? Okay, she could do this... she HAD done this in the past even if she hadn't wanted to. Carefully she added as much as was needed, stopping only when the daffodil stopped honking. "Soo you're happy now. Yay!" Go her. She had done a good job. She mentally patted herself on the back as she placed the plant among the others.
Time to work with a screechsnap that would probably hate her. Wonderful. |

Ok, it was time to move on. The professor explained the next part of the process and Janelle copied down the subsequent steps. She knew what she had to do next, but thought it best to warn the daffodil first. Of course it was a plant, not a person. But Janelle knew that living things had a way of understanding you, if you just talked to them correctly. Maybe it was the tone of voice........anyway, she didn't want the little daffodil to be more upset than necessary. "Alright my little flower. Don't be afraid. I'm just going to put you in a different pot. You should be much more comfortable there. Relax." Janelle took hold of the daffodil's stem, careful not to be too rough. Right below the bloom. Got it. Continuing to hold the plant, Janelle removed some of the dirt from the old pot and placed it into its new home. Then, while still speaking soothingly to the daffodil, she swirled the dirt together with her free hand. Once it was sufficiently mixed, Janelle placed her hand in the old pot and wriggled it around until she thought she should be underneath all of the roots. "Alright, here we go." Making sure to hold the stem steady, Janelle supported all of the roots and began to lift up. She was sure glad that the daffodil had been silenced because she could only imagine the racket that this transfer would cause.
Verrrry gently, Janelle placed the little daffodil in its new pot. She held it up, while reaching for the rest of the soil. Then she poured the soil into the pot, spreading it evenly around and making sure that all of the root were properly covered. An inch from the top. Check. Janelle gently patted the soil down on top so it looked nice and smooth. Then she stood back. "Well, what do you think? Do you like your new home?" Hopefully the daffodil would feel much happier now.

| elephant-astic•wanderlust•stay in the ninedaaays the original Taco Belle•look at the flowers✿ Some water and a bit of fertilizer later and Maddie had returned the daffodil in its new pot to the back of the room. She supposed if plants could look happy, she'd say hers did right now. She felt mildly pleased about that.
Screechsnaps were interesting in that they too seemed to express their feelings on things. Maddie brought one back to her space and watched it curiously while she waited for more instructions. She couldn't help but think as she sat there that if she were a plant, she'd be the suffer in silence type.
