The Lions sit under a brand new scarlet and gold banner representing their house. Their solid, shiny wooden table is nicely polished with all the place settings perfectly set. It was once said that the Hogwarts House Elves are the best in the world. It is up to your stomach to agree... but surely it will! Why wouldn't it like elf cooking?
If you're thirsty, there is also fresh pumpkin juice and water on the table, regardless of whether or not it is actually mealtime.
Alice took a seat at the table, instantly grabbing a few things and throwing them on her plate. She was starving. Maybe she skipped lunch to do some homework she had been avoiding. Something she was regretting as soon as the hunger from skipping lunch hit. No amount of homework was worth skipping lunch in her opinion.
She began to eat and look around the room. Her blue eyes wandering to where her friends could possibly be. She hadn't seen Timmy in a bit.. Maybe she needed more friends. Not that she didn't love the ones she had. But who would be her partner in crime when Timmy would Graduate? This was an important question.. Because sure there was Diaval and Phillip but one top of both being boys one of them was a bird.
So maybe she was scouting for another friend. Hmm.

For all the warning he and his cousin had done, it didn't seem like anyone was taking them seriously. Day in and day out there were tons of students who came to the Great Hall for their meals and not one of them thought it prudent to try finding out what was in the stuff they were eating. For their part, the Professors just sat up at the Dais pretending everything was alright--even though they knew that wasn't true--and continued lowering the children into a false sense of security.
What a big conspiracy it all was. Lucky for him, boys happened to be immune. For all the food he, Phillip and Bentley had eaten, none of them had suddenly been sabotaged by all the crazy which was good enough for him.
It also explained why he was so content with his dinner of mash and gravy with roast beef, baby corn and a slice of lemon pie.. Perfectly safe.
The joys of being masculine.

Tonight, was taco night. Only because Hadley had give the house elves a recipe for great authentic Mexican tacos (thanks Mom) and requested them for herself. And then she saw the flyer of Blaise's for the umpteenth time and found herself rereading it again. Not just rereading it but paying attention. Because in all honest, there might be something to this.
Rather than make her way over to the Ravenclaw table as usual, Hadley made her way to the Gryffindor table and slid stealthily in next to Blaise. She blew her red hair out of her face and slapped the flyer down between them. "You really think the teachers are experimenting on us?" The delicious aroma of the tacos was going straight to her stomach, begging her to start eating them, but Hads resisted for now. "'Cause, I'm starting to believe you. If it is them, they completely messed with my mind before the break and I can't remember any of it. So..." Because if they were tampering with the food, eating her tacos might be a bad idea. But they smelled sooooo good, and she had to eat something. "What's the plan? What do we do about it, because obviously we have to eat and drink?" She was looking to Blaise as some sort of Resistance leader.

Blaise had only JUST bitten into his roast beef, hardly had time to chew it before Hadley was sitting there next to him talking about poisons and Professors and her memory being wiped.
Wait, what?
The boy swallowed all he'd bitten off, lamenting the fact he'd hardly gotten to savour the taste before he twisted in his seat so he could directly face the Ravenclaw. "To answer your question, yes, I do think that--for all the good it's done. No one seems to care or believe." Which brought him to his next point...the fact she was a believer. "You say you can't remember anything?"
Hmm. Blaise drummed his fingers against the table, thinking it over for a moment. "Bentley and I think guys might be immune, we've only seen it hit the girls but the only sure fire way I can think of is only getting food from the source--that and letting the Professors know that we KNOW what they're doing and will bring them to Law Enforcement if they continue. It's important for them to know we mean business. As it stands, they think we're maleable and can be walked all over so they think they'll get away with it." It was no wonder too, just look how many chose to continue eating after his fervent warnings.

Hadley shook her head. "From what I'm told I deshelved both the Hogwarts library and the Ravenclaw library, as well as Professor Primeaux's personal library. Apparently one book at a time. I also supposedly shoved a prefect...don't remember a single thing of it. The only thing I remember is finding myself in the hospital wing, bound and immobilized. Apparently Penny bound and immobilized me, and Kitridge brought me to the healer..." Even then, having been told the things she did, details were still fuzzy. Like she didn't know for sure it was her that took all the books off the shelves in the Hogwarts library, but just sorta assumed it was.
It creeped her out knowing something got in her head and took control of her without her knowledge. Made her do things. That was assuming this wasn't some elaborate prank to get back at the prankster. It seemed unlikely though with the professors in on it. She shuddered.
"Getting food from the source? The Kitchen and house elves, you mean?" If he said yes she was digging into her tacos so fast, that if Blaise blinked, he'd miss it. She was that hungry and craving tacos that badly. "Shouldn't we fight back though, somehow? I mean just showing them we know might not be much of a deterrent."

"Whoa..." By the time she was done explaining, all the boy could do was stare in awe and concern and well...everything else. "The bloody hell did you get up to before break? Merlin's beard Hadley." That was DEFINITELY not the sort of crazy he and Bentley had noticed with the other girls in their study but maybe that was the problem. The experiments were clearly escalating. The Professors were adding new symptoms and it could only get worse from here.
"This is even more serious than we first thought and by the sounds of it, it's starting to back fire on them. Well good--great even. Maybe that's the answer."
Blaise shifted a little closer to her, now properly considering her suggestion of fighting back as it seemed to fall into the spectrum of perfect sense.
"See, me and Bentley think it's behaviour modifiers that they're putting in our food, trying to gather how we'll act in the hopes of getting us to be better behaved students. It's obviously backfiring on them now, so I think we can really stick it to 'em. Show 'em why they shouldn't mess with our food to begin with." Because that made the most sense to the 13 year old.
"It's kinda risky though, we'll have to make them think we really ARE under the influence of whatever they're giving us, then we do everything they tell you you did before we went off on break. Once it gets out of hand, they'll have no choice but to stop the experiments or risk all of us going nuts. until then, definitely food straight from the kitchen and the elves."
