| | |  Gobstones Preliminary Match: Ravenclaw vs. Slytherin
 The building used for the Gobstones matches had had its doors closed against the early September chill. Its surfaces magically dusted by Mr McLeod and Mr. Kitridge, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's first preliminary match.
The blue and green marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch.
OOC: Remember only members sorted into Ravenclaw and Slytherin Houses can post in this thread, it is not a chat thread and there is no rping.
Read the Gobstones Rule book before playing and if you did last term, please check again for potential updates and changes.

Both teams switched players for the next shot of the match as Penelope and Oliver took to the court again for their respective houses. At Mr Kitridge's signal they swung their shooters and kicked their stones forward. The blue stone rolled slowly around the first obstacle before it abruptly stopped and sprayed up a cloud of smelly gob right up in the air. The green stone surpassed it's opponent and 4 more obstacles for the points.
"2 points to Slytherin!" Leo announced while wrinkling his nose against the smell.

Katherine remained on the court for the eagles while the snakes switched in Hady Lynch. The senior girls swung their shooters and released their stones. Moments later a loud "BANG!" was heard as the two stones collided into each other and oozed out an enormous foul smelling cloud of smoke.
"No point awarded!" Leo coughed out from the sideline.
Advisor note: Neither house was correct and thus neither house was awarded the point. The correct answer would have been mandrakes. Mandrakes are the most common ingredient in antidotes.

The last encounter between Ravenclaw and Slytherin was concluded by the facing off between Lynch and Tyler. Both players did their best in this last turn with their shooting. The green marble raced towards the goal and was the first to touch the Jack Stone, causing Mr Kitridge to start applauding a little too enthusiastically-- not because Slytherin had gotten the last points of the match, but because it was finally over and they would all go back to their headquarters to eat some well deserved food.
"Ravenclaw wins the first preliminary match of this years Gobstones chamionship!" He announced, clapping lightly, "Great and close game Slytherin, you were fantastic as well. Thank you everyone for watching and taking time out of your leisure time to enjoy this championship match today. Today's player of the match is Mason Stevens, thank you for your dedication to the game." He flashed Mason and big smile. "Off you go to your common rooms for celebrating with your housemates or even studying for your impending exams." Leo ushered everyone out, out, out.
