Gobstones Preliminary Match: Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff

http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...atchBanner.jpg
The building used for the Gobstones matches had had its doors closed against the early September chill. Its surfaces magically dusted by Mr McLeod and Mr. Kitridge, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's first preliminary match.

The blue and green marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch.

Mr. McLeod walked in with his hands kept in his coat pockets against the cold nearing winter morning air, with Mr. Kitridge the school's librarian and together they set up the hall for the second match lightening the fireplaces. On the way down from the castle the two had seen the growing leaf piles under the trees.

As the teams assembled Justin put his wand to his mouth to enhance his whistle to get the players attention. "Good morning and welcome to the Gobstones club, today's our second game of the season. I hope you're all as pumped up as me and Mr. Kitridge are!" Not waiting for any responses Justin quickly signalled for the teams to choose their representatives for the first shot of the game.

"Let's begin!"

The first roll of the match for the badger side was taken by second year, Carl Leonard, against Gryffindor. The cheering increased as much as the speed from the two stones displayed. Surpassing three obstacles and hitting two more the stones slowed down to a halt, with the yellow stone stopping much closer to the center than red.

"First point of the Preliminary match to Hufflepuff!" Justin declared from the sideline.

Fourth year Brian Woods steps in next turn against the lions. Both shoot their stones out at the start. The yellow stone with a bit too much power collides with the red sending out of bounds, the yellow continues through two obstacles before the next rebounds it off the map sending a spray of gob at the audience.
