Miranda was exhausted as she closed the Dorm door assigned to the first year girls. Finding her things laid out by the house elves that lived and worked at the school near her bed. Oh and did it look uber comfy. It was practically calling her name. She flopped down onto her four poster bed and let out an enormous sigh.

Isabella burst into the first year girls' dorm, thrilled that it was bedtime. She got to meet the other first year girls now! It was going to be like a sleepover every day, and they were all going to be best friends. She closed the door behind her and started tugging off her uniform robes. Really, robes plus more uniform underneath seemed like overkill. As she made her way to the bed she assumed was hers, she glanced around the dorm room.

Oh! There was someone else in here! "Hello!" Isabella said brightly to her new roommate. "I'm Isabella!" Then she heard the girl sigh and felt bad. Oops. Was she trying to sleep? "Oh, sorry!" she said quietly. "I didn't realize you were asleep already! We can talk tomorrow, I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of each other this year!" Because they were roommates. Sleepovers every day.

Miranda popped up immediately... Sleeping?!" I'm not sleeping... I'm Randi." she giggled. " Well, Miranda Blaze... That's what my mum calls me when she's angry anyway." , still smiling like a total dweeb. " Good to meet you ... Want some toffees? "
Again with the blasted toffees...
Miranda nearly shoves the toffee package at her new best friend...... Afterall whynot....Isabella seemed nice enough.

Randi...Oh, that was right! Isabella had overheard Miranda introducing herself at the feast. Isabella beamed at the other first year. "My mother adds my middle name when she's angry," she said thoughtfully, reaching for a toffee. "Thanks! I love toffee." As she put the candy in her mouth, she untucked her shirt and kicked off her shoes, completely unaware that she was spreading her uniform all over the shared dorm room.

"I've never shared a room before! I only have brothers. Do you have any siblings? Are your parents wizards, too?" Too many questions, Isabella...Give your new friend a break.

always and forever" Toffees are my absolute favourite. " Randi beam at her very own bestie. " My dad gave my middle name for my aunt. But we aren't here to talk death and tragedy."
Miranda flung her arms around her room mate, best friend forever Isabella and hugged as if she were made of solid gold.
" Ugh , brothers... I've two myself as well as a little sister" Randi said as she watch her friend undress and scattered all of her uniform articles about the room.
Gasping.... Oh no ... stuff everywhere!!!! Randi thought she was being sly when she rose again from the edge of her bed and began to walk around the room as she began to tidy the room. No need to make Isabella feel awkward... Afterall she was just talking ...
" Both my parents are wizards yeah... My dad's family was in Slytherin for centuries... Then he married my mum. She was a Hufflepuff. Easy to see who wears the magical pants in my family... " joked Randi. " And anyway We both know it's girl who should be the boss."
Miranda walked over to Isabella's bed and put the small pile of clothes on her bed next to her friend and sat down.
" where about's do you hail from...?' she finally asked.

Hugging. Why was- hugging? Isabella tried not to make a face as her new best friend hugged her. She was not a huggy person. You wouldn't guess it to look at her, given her skirts and her hair ribbons and all, but Isabella really didn't like hugging. Probably because she hadn't been hugged enough as a child.

"I've always wanted a sister!" Isabella said as she hopped onto her bed and swung her legs against the side. She wondered why Randi was wandering around the room. Maybe she needed to stretch or something after laying on the bed. "I've got a cousin, though, she's pretty close to a sister. I'm from Peru! We live in Cambridgeshire now, though. Just moved there a year ago, so I could come to Hogwarts. Where are you from?"

Isabella wondered what house her dad would have been in if he'd go to Hogwarts. Her mother, she knew, was a Ravenclaw, but Dad had gone to a different school.

Miranda sat back onto the bed next to Isabella and began to fold up her friends robes... just to occupy her nervous hands. " Oh .. I've lived all over the place.. My dad moved a lot for work. but we live in south London now." she smiled. " Cambridgeshire.... sounds like a nice place."

When Miranda sat down next to her, Isabella finally noticed that she was folding her robes. Where had she gotten her robes from? Isabella looked down and noticed that she had ditched part of her uniform. Oops. Well, at least Randi was nice and folded them up, right? If Isabella's messiness had been a problem, surely she would have said something. It wasn't complaining if it was constructive.

"Do you like Quidditch? I've never played, but my mother taught me to fly when I was little, and I can't wait until I can play on the house team!" Isabella's mother had played on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, and Isabella hoped she could make her proud by playing for Hufflepuff.

" Oh yes. I love quidditch. My Father played for Slytherin while at school. He played Keeper. But I would fancy myself a beater. Helps get rid of frustration." Miranda smiled. " Maybe next year I'll try out. For now I want to focus on getting used to being away from home..."she looked down at her hands in her lap.
" what about you? You trying out this year?"

Isabella grinned. "We should watch Quidditch matches together!" she said excitedly. "I don't think I'm going to try out this year, either. My mother said classes will be really hard, so I think I should focus on that." Isabella didn't think she was as smart as her parents, but she could work hard. "I think I'd be a good Keeper, I have good hand-eye coordination from playing Muggle sports."

Not that she was bragging or anything.

Swooping into the girls dorm he noticed some girls and grinned snatching their toffees. "You shouldn't be eating these you shouldn't. They'll rot your teeth they will."


Pulling the toffee package apart he let it dump all over their heads.

{ I played tennis... That's why I figured I'd be a decent beater. But I know what you mean.... Classes are gonna be brutal. I hope classes are fun though. I get easily bored...." She chuckled. Then in flew flippin Peeves...
" Hey!! You wretched Poltergiest! " All over the floor went her precious toffees... Her head fell into her hands as she started to cry a little." Stupid, Peeves... That was my last package...."

Isabella shrieked in surprise as toffees hit her in the face and lap and bounced onto the floor. Peeves! "Hey! Our teeth are not of your business!" she shouted at the poltergeist, hopping off the bed to face Peeves with her hands on her hips. She had brothers, she had dealt with this sort of nonsense before.

Then, Miranda started crying. Isabella looked at her new friend in shock. Why was she crying? It was just toffees. Torn between wanting to comfort her friend and wanting to scold the poltergeist, Isabella sighed and placed her hand on Miranda's shoulder. "Oh, Randa, it's okay," she said, combining Miranda's actual name and her nickname Randi into a new nickname. "We can get you some more toffees. Maybe some chocolate frogs or pumpkin pasties, too." Just please stop crying. Still trying to reassure her friend, Isabella glared at Peeves. She'd tell him off later, when Miranda was less upset.

Miranda wiped her eyes, and explained, " It's just that These are from my grandmother... She makes them special just for me..." She sniffled. " This was the last batch she had made before falling ill." Randi Looked up at Izzy; She too like the sound of that. " Thanks, Izzy.... I hope you don't mind.... I didn't mean to lose it there. It's just that I am terribly worried about her."

Laughing at the two girls Peeves swooped back at them, "Crying over candy. Ickle firstie needs her mummy. Oh no, no mummy here." He laughed and flew out of the dorm.

Grandmothers who made toffees? All Isabella's grandmother did was buy her dresses and teach her how to sit properly. Isabella appreciated it, but she would have liked some grandmother-baked cookies or something come Christmas. Maybe this year she could ask to bake some cookies with her grandmother... "I'm sorry, Randa, it'll be okay though." Gosh. She was eleven. She wasn't supposed to have to know how to comfort people who were crying over dead family...

As Peeves swooped over them again, Isabella ducked in case he dropped something else over their heads. Then, as he flew away, she shook her head.

"Good riddance," she said in her annoyed big sister voice. "Someone needs to teach him some manners." Just not her. "Are you going to be alright, Randa?"

Miranda shot Peeves a nasty look. She was putting his name on an imaginary list of people to get back at once she was old enough to make them pay dearly. An evil little grin crossed her lips for just a moment.

She shook herself of the thought and answered her new friend, " Yeah , I'll be fine... I'll just have to owl my mum to see if she happened to get Granny's recipe." She hoped beyond all hope that her mother had gotten it....
" So, Tell me about your family, Izzy? " she asked trying to get the focus off of herself for a bit.

Isabella breathed a sigh of relief when Miranda said she would be fine. Good. Fine was good. But then Randi asked about her family. Just like, a general question about them. Isabella hardly knew where to begin.

"My mother works at the ministry of magic," she said slowly. "My papa used to be mmmmm... like an Auror, when we lived in Peru, but now he does something else. I don't really know." Isabella's father never talked about her work, but her mother sure did. Juniper Melo could go on and on about plants for days. It made Isabella crazy. "I have an older brother, Paul, well John Paul, but we call him Paul because of my uncle, and two younger brothers, Raf and Gabe. They're twins. They're little brats, quite obnoxious." She thought to herself for another moment. "That's all there is, really. Nothing too exciting."

Miranda listened to her new friend. She smiled when she was talking about her mum. And she could totally relate when it came to younger siblings.
" My mum is the same way when it comes to ordinary charms around the house. always prattling on about how to make this chore or that chore easier. My dad is like yours too. He never talks about work and we all know not to ask either. " Miranda took another breath and finished her response. " I've got two younger brothers and one younger sister. There's Ed, he'll start school in a couple years and then there's my sister Jordan and the youngest is Eivan."
Wow... that was a mouthful...

Great. They knew all about each other's families, and now they were official best friends. Isabella grinned at Miranda and jumped up. "I think it is my bedtime!" she said with way too much energy for someone about to go to sleep. "We need a good night's sleep before our first day of classes!"

Miranda looked at the clock on the wall... " Merlin, Izzy... It's near ten thirty..." she said as she got up from the floor and towards her bed. " You're right It's gonna be a long busy day tomorrow." and started to change into her jammies.
" Are you nervous about tomorrow? " Randi asked as she got into bed.

Isabella yawned as she dug her pajamas out of her trunk and put them on, leaving her uniform in a small pile by the foot of her bed. Ten thirty? Really? Wow, she wasn't sure she would be able to handle this daily sleepover thing. She needed sleep. Sleepy.

"Nope, not nervous, not one bit," she said with a yawn as she climbed into her four-poster bed. "Goodnight, Randa." Pulling up the blanket, she snuggled down and was asleep almost immediately. It had been a really long day with the train and the feast and all.

Miranda smiled back over at her new best friend. " Goodnight, Izzy" And she pulled up her covers and drifted into a deep sleep.

Where is book?

Feet shuffle awkwardly. Esme not paying attention to where she was going only in finding what she had to. MUST FIND. Had to be somewhere... Slowly she moves towards a bed.

Riiiiiiiiiiiip.

Teeeeeeeeeeeeeear.

Searching through feathers and bedding but nothing. Must move on to others. Must not stop looking until book found.
