Divination Lesson II

The divination classroom looks like a plain-regular classroom. You wouldn't find any fancy crystals or tarot cards available around, that means you guys won't be studying about them today. There was a sentence written on the board.

Quote:

"The future is in your hand."

That sounds obvious, doesn't it?

Professor Yoon is leaning on her desk while waiting for the students. As usual, there is a jar of fortune cookies on the front desk. Feel free to take one to test your fortune (or if you trust her enough)

Class' progression:

1. Which hand is which?
2. Explanation and Determine the major lines
3. Determine the minor lines and the mounts

OOC: Class has started! Feel free to jump in and participate but don't post your charrie late.

Abby walked into Divination and saw the jar of fortune cookies and pulled one out and opened it and read her fortune, she half smiled at the bit of paper and said "Good day Professor Yoon"

Time for Divination and Esme was excited. This was her favourite class along with a few others like Charms, Care of Magical Creatures, and Potions. Hopefully they would do something really interesting today but then when didn't they?

"Hello, Professor Yoon!" she said as she walked into the classroom. After waving at Abby she took a fortune cookie and headed to her seat. Opening the cookie, she looked inside to see what it had to tell her. Do not be hasty, prosperity will knock on your door soon. Interesting. She liked the sound of that! Smiling, she ate her cookie and waited for the rest of the class to arrive so that they could get started.

Hadley skipped into Divination class, which could be seen as a bad sign. It meant she was happy about something, and usually that meant she was up to something. Today, however, she was just in a good mood. Over the school year, Divination had become one of her favorite classes.

"Hey, Professor Yoon! How are you today?" She bounded up to the front and grabbed a fortune cookie. "Confidence is at a high...sure." Then she spotted the board. The future is in your hand. Ohhh a riddle. She liked riddle.

This one didn't take long to figure out though. "Palm Reading?" she asked, excitement clear in her voice. "Cool!"

With that, Hadley turned and took a seat.

Azura moved into Divination tower with a small smile on her face. She waved at the Professor and sent a warm smile her way along with an "Hello Professor Yoon."

She took a fortune cookie and scanned the room as she wondered where to sit.. Ahh.. there was Esme! Azura moved over to her friend and sat down next to her with a warm smile, "Hello Esme, how are you?" She asked as she opened her fortune cookie and blinked down at it as she read her fortune..

Dispel negativity though creative activities..

Huh.. Maybe.. she needed to practice the guitar and play the piano more? She looked down at it for a moment before biting her lip and sticking it in her pocket.

Fiyero walked into the divination classroom, wondering how it would be set up today. His face fell a little when he peered inside to find just an ordinary-looking classroom. He was partial to the tea room set-up himself.

He gave the divination professor a polite smile as he greeted her, "Hello, Professor Yoon." Eyeing the jar or fortune cookies on the desk, he helped himself to one."Thanks for the cookie," he added quickly, remembering his manners.

Fiyero took a seat on.the side of the room closest to the door, setting his bag down with a thump. He glanced up at the message on the board.Did that mean.they were learning palm-reading today? Never mind, he was sure Professor Yoon would explain it eventually... Until then, he turned his attention to his cookie, breaking it open.Keep your temper; nobody else wants it. He blinked disbelievingly. What kind of weird fortune was that?

Lissy Longbottom 07-15-2016 02:10 AM

The future is in your hand? OOOOOH! Scarlett was PRETTY SURE she had an idea what that meant! Palm reading! At least, that was the most logical guess she could think of. For all she knew, though, the professor was headed in a totally different direction.

"Hey Professor!" she said happily, taking a fortune cookie and then having a seat. She decided to save it for later, since she wasn't too hungry at the moment.

Goblinfrog 07-15-2016 03:10 AM

"Good morning Professor Yoon," said Kitty brightly as she walked into the classroom and retrieved her cookie. "Relish the transitions in your life - they will happen anyway," she read out loud. Okay. Made sense. Kitty did like transitions if they were good. (Like coming to Hogwarts l, making friends, and dying her hair new colours)

The message on the board reminded her of an old Muggle song, she thought as she went to sit down on a nearby chair in the front row.

Suziella 07-15-2016 03:48 AM

"Good morning Professor Yoon." Juno said as she entered the classroom. She grabbed a fortune cookie and headed towards her desk. She sat down and cracked it open before even getting out all the materials she would need for class.

Dream your dream and your dream will dream of you.

O_____o

Huh? That didn't make very much sense. She knew she needed to think on that one for a little bit. She then pulled out everything she might need for today's class. Glancing briefly at the board, she knew right away that they were doing palmistry. It's the only thing that could mean.

Penelope walked into the divination classroom with a smile on her face. Although she was skeptical about the accuracy of many types of divination, she found divination fascinating and it was one of her favorite classes. Professor Cassie had always been so happy and excited in class that Penelope had become more interested in the lessons, and despite a year of a hag trying to eat students, Penelope still found divination enjoyable with Professor Yoon. Classes were much better this year than whatever had happened with the hag. "Hello, Professor Yoon," she greeted the professor. Ignoring the fortune cookies as she always did, Penelope headed to her seat. Fortune cookies fell under the category of sweet things that Penelope did not eat. She looked at the quote on the board. Would they be studying palmistry today? Details of the different palm lines that she had been studying came to mind. After getting out fresh parchment and a quill to take notes with, Penelope wrote the quote from the board in her notes. She was ready for class.

Janelle arrived for Divination class and expected to see something unusual when she entered the classroom. That had become a recurring theme this term, but amazingly, that was not the case today. The room was just a regular room. Reading the message on the board did not really give Janelle a hint of what was to come.

"Hello Professor Yoon", Janelle said, as she stopped by to grab a fortune cookie. Then it was on to her chosen desk. She sat down, dropped her book bag and began to rifle through it in search of her textbook. While she was in there, she grabbed her quill and parchment. All set for class, Janelle sat back and waited.

Seeing the students entering the classroom, Sora just simply replied their greetings with 'hello' or just gave a small nod to them. She occasionally looked at her watch to see if it's time to start the lesson.

Okay, she thought now it's time to start. The divination professor cast the locking charm nonverbally to prevent the late students coming in. "Good day, students. Now I'm guessing that some, or maybe most of you can guess what we are gonna learn today from the sentence on the board." Cue pointing at the sentence. "We're gonna do palm reading, or palmistry."

Sora walked around the class while talking to the students, then she threw a question. "Which hand do you think that we can use for the reading? Do you think we can only use one specific hand or any hand doesn't matter?" Such a weird question, yeah... But she wanted to hear these students' opinions.

OOC: class will be continued in 18-24 hours. Feel free to jump in but let's pretend that your charrie has arrived before the class has started.

WhittyBitty 07-15-2016 02:48 PM

Esme smiled and waved at her friends as they came in. "Hey, Azura! I am good. How are you?" Palmestry was interesting and she was excited to get started on the lesson. Get some more practice in. Maybe she could do Azura's reading during the lesson!

At the first question she raised her hand. "Both hands can be used for readings. For right handed people, the left hand is the 'birth hand' and shows inherited character traits, personality, and destiny while the right hand shows the direction their life takes; their potential and individuality. The opposite is true for left handed people." So yep, both hands had a role to play in palmistry.

RachieRu 07-15-2016 07:44 PM

Harriet thought about the question. She didn't know too much about Divination. But then she was only a first year, so she was only learning. She hadn't read into Divination too much. Because she wanted to focus on learning spells, and being good at her other lessons. Maybe she should have read up on Divination. She made a mental note to read about the subject more. That didn't really matter too much now though, because it wasn't really helping. But Hattie was going to have a think about it anyway. The blonde tilted her head to the side a little as she thought, before raising her hand.

"Could a person's dominant hand be more... Uh....significant? Since that is the hand we use more?" She murmured as she smiled. She wasn't too sure, but she was giving it a go, and that was all that mattered. "I think that both hands are probably important, but maybe the dominant hand more so?"

MunchyBubbles 07-16-2016 02:43 AM

Azura smiled warmly at Esme as she spoke.."I'm good, thanks." She said before she quieted down and looked up at the Professor as she started to speak.

Hmmm, palm reading..

Azura looked down at her hands and bit her lip a little as she wondered what they told about it.. She looked back up at Professor Yoon as she asked a question.. One Azura wasn't too familiar with, but she had a guess.

The teen raised her hand and answered.. "I think perhaps both hands have stories to tell, but perhaps the dominant hand would be a bit more.. important?" She asked.

littledhampir 07-16-2016 05:50 AM

Olly had not read the board, because he wasn't the sort of person who really noticed when things were written on boards. And he had not been in the classroom very long before class started, so he hadn't had a lot of time to notice it anyway. He only saw it after professor Yoon had already said they were going to be learning about palm readings, so it was a bit too late. Olly listened to her question and raised his hand.

"I don't think it would matter. They're both our hands so why would one be better than the other?" Maybe he was wrong though. He'd find out soon enough.

MadMadamMalfoy 07-16-2016 06:23 AM

So Fiyero had been right; they were studying palmistry! He thought about the question for a minute. He agreed with Hattie and Azura about the dominant hand being important, but he didn't want to sound like he was copying other people's answers. So the dominant hand was important, but why? An idea occurred to him, and he raised his hand.

"Maybe it's not so much that one hand's more important than the other, but that each hand tells us different things," he said. Like the dominant hand dealt with a person's more, for lack of a better word, dominant attributes or something? He wasn't exactly sure how to word what he was thinking, so he decided to just leave it at that.

Goblinfrog 07-16-2016 05:00 PM

Truthfully, Kitty did not know what the correct answer was. Her first natural thought was that if you were right handed then your right hand would be the one to read, and if you were left handed then you should the left hand. But Esme seemed to really know what she was talking about. That didn't seem like something you would invent. Kitty scribbled down her words as she talked and then repeated it, changing the words a little. "If you are left handed, then your right hand shows your personality and destiny, while your left hand shows your individuality. If you are right handed then it's vice versa."

Saz Hale 07-16-2016 05:30 PM

Abby thought and raised her hand and said "Both hands can be used for readings but it is mostly one hand that has the most to read from" Abby wasn't sure if it was right but it was worth a try

Daydreamer11 07-16-2016 11:31 PM

It was time for class to begin and the professor wasted no time in getting down to business. When she revealed what they would be working on, Janelle felt stupid. Of course it was palm reading. She had totally missed the hint. Now she had a chance to redeem herself. The first question was posed and Janelle needed to come up with a good answer.

Janelle wasn't really sure of the correct answer so she decided to take a wild guess. Raising her hand, she gave her thoughts on the matter. "I would think that we would use the dominant hand for a palm reading." A person's two hands were not identical, so what you took from each one would probably be different. "I think you could get the most accurate information from that hand because it is the one that you use most often and it probably has more strength. There is probably some information to be gotten from your non-dominant hand too, but the focus would be on something different." Janelle stopped to reflect on what she had just said. Sometimes things made sense in her head, but when it came out of her mouth, it sounded crazy.

Vivian was never really a fan of Divination - her dad never liked it too - but her mum, as always, told her it would be a fun subject to attend and maybe her daughter actually had "the sight". The eleven year old always found it funny, really. Her mum's Ravenclaw was oozing all the time. It always made her wonder how her Gryffindor of a father could handle such a woman. But then she wouldn't be here if her daddy didn't! Ahem, anyway... moving on to class.

The Slytherin raised her hand. "I'm not sure, Professor, but I guess both hands would work, depending on what you're trying to figure out or predict." Also, accuracy would always be questionable in that case. What IS on a person's palm anyway? Enlightenment please, Professor?

Ameh 07-17-2016 02:56 AM

Even this far into the term, Jaemin had made a point of sitting near the door. He was less concerned about the woman turning out to be child-eating hag than he had been earlier in the year, but he was still paranoid that she was involved in some sort of long con, and thus... he continued to bypass the cookies. Tugging absently at his hair, the colour of ash today as it had been for a few days because he was getting fed up and tired of trying, he stared at the board, then at his hands.

Hm.

"Your non-dominant hand is supposed to tell you stuff about your past lives and from your unconscious mind," he murmured, one of his small hands in the air to volunteer the answer. "The dominant one tells you stuff from your current life and your conscious mind."

This was another one of those things that his mom liked. Her big three were tarot, cup reading, and chiromancy... he still wasn't allowed to touch her cards (and had no urge to do so anyway) but she had often held his little hands and looked at the shape of them, and the lines, and all that. He wasn't sure how things were interpreted outside of his own hands, but... he knew some of this, at least.

Steelsheen 07-17-2016 03:03 AM

So palmnistry, another little something his grandmother had with her little tea party things. The Curly Top looked at both his hands and pinched his lips doubtfully. He never did understand the whole palm reading thing very much. For one thing, doesn’t genetics come into play too?

So yeah he raised his right hand and replied "My grandma's friends keep asking me if I'm right or left handed. When I say right they grab my left. Then they say stuff about my future or about it but it doesn’t make any sense."

DuckyLinJi 07-17-2016 09:33 AM

Of course, the moment Bec had entered the Divination classroom was pick up a fortune cookie from the jar. She didn’t believe in fortune cookies but they were fun to see which ones she got. And while the Professor started the lesson, the Gryffindor was busy opening one up. She did hear the words Palmistry and that they were going to read their hands or whatever that meant. “I think its …” she said while she automatically raised a hand in the air while she was reading her fortune.

--Tomorrow, take a moment to do something just for yourself—

“Ha!” she laughed, getting distracted by what her fortune cookie was saying and placed it in her book.

She had already forgotten that she had been in the middle of an answer…

Lissy Longbottom 07-17-2016 03:14 PM

Scarlett tried to remember what her father had told her about palm reading...but she was drawing a blank. She flipped through her textbook but couldn't seem to find it either. That meant she was going to have to guess.

After a moment of thought, she raised her hand. "I think both hands can be used, and obviously your dominant hand is going to tell you something different than your non-dominant hand," she answered. Although that raised the question, then - what happened if you were ambidextrous? Hmmmm...
