Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

A referee (either Professor Airey or Professor Hirsch) will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
OOC: This duel must be completed by the 3rd of July by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.

Was he nervous? No. Should he be? Yes... probably.
Feeling at home in the arena, clad in his dueling uniform, Zeke peered out to where the audience was seated (despite not being able to see or hear them) before instead directing his attention at Professor Hirsch and then to Maddison Cooper. He gave her polite nod even before the customary bow, flouring his wand in front of him.
There was little point in waiting, he wasn't interested in being conservative. So without so much as a pause, Zeke started his offence with a down-to-earth "Descendo!" The Gryffindor followed up his first offence with a Stickfast Hex in quick succession, casually but clearly pronouncing "Colloshoo."Not only was he hoping to disable her, but he was hoping to make it as uncomfortable as possible.

Maddie knew better than to count Zeke out and having observed his dueling style, she expected nothing less than a fight here today. It's why she didn't bother with pleasantries. No need, yes? They both knew why they were here.
Having bowed and taken the obligatory paces, the seventh year immediately cast a quietly muttered protego, attempting to deflect the gravity spell back towards her opponent. She sidestepped the next spell, having been narrowly missed by the stickfast hex. She quite preferred being able to move about, thank you very much.
"Impedimenta!" Eyes narrowed, she waited to see if she'd have better luck.

No? Neither of his charms were sticking? Well that was a shame.
Zeke had been quick enough to cast "Protego," to defend against his own spell, but even as he made to keep moving he realised he wasn't going to have an easy time of this. But he did enjoy a challenge. Maddie's Impedimenta hit him in the shoulder as he was too slow to avoid it, resulting in him being knocked back a few paces. Sheesh.
Recovering quickly, Zeke cast "Everte Statum'" in Maddie's direction. To ensure he wouldn't be caught quite like that again, Zeke increased his light-footedness with a Feather-light Charm on himself.

Well, that hurt.
She'd been so focused on seeing if her spell would hit that she hadn't anticipated getting thrown back, too. And she was. She hit the ground hard and felt a shooting pain up her tailbone that caused her to wince. Yeah, that was going to have to be dealt with later and honestly, she was impressed with the force of the spell. Maybe she'd tell him so after this but for right now, she simply continued to show how much pain she was in and first cast a verbalJelly-Legs Curse at him, followed by a nonverbalcheering charm, all while rubbing her back with her free hand. Hopefully her position and facial expression would distract him enough so he wouldn't be expecting her second attack.
No but really, she needed to get up and this hurt. Pull it together, Cooper.
Slowly, more slowly than she'd like, she got to her feet and breathed out what she hoped would be a calming breath. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.

Was he surprised by Zeke's display of confidence? No. In fact, it made the man put his face in his hand to cover up the amused smile that was resting there. Thanks, Zeke. Thanks.
But here's hoping that this duel would be one to give the boy a slight challenge. Miss Cooper's duelling tactic was one to be admired and she wasn't exactly one to sit back and let the spells hit her. On the other hand, Zeke had been reigning champion of his set two years in a row. Was it any wonder that Hirsch was particularly looking forward to this duel?
And he wasn't disappointed either. The only thing he was really disappointed in was the time. The spells cast were good enough and, in fact, he was proud of the agility between the two duellers but, with a sigh, the magical barrier had to go up far too soon. If the duel could continue for a while longer, he'd have let it. As it was, there were other people that needed to use the arena and so, these two had to stop.
"Very, very well done," he said, emerging from the shadows and smiling at the two of them, "Very well done, indeed. Excellent use of a nonverbal spell, Miss Cooper," Pity it was too late. "but, Zeke here has claimed the title for this round. Congratulations."
