The back of the train is the last to leave the station, and the last to kiss school goodbye. Those who linger here might be sad to see the school year end, or maybe they're just not eager for a summer away from Hogwarts. It's a raucous area, though, full of fun and frivolity, and the detritus that collects in the wake of all these students.
Watching people trying to cram things into their trunks, or sitting on them trying to close the lid was something Dalton was sure he would never understand. Squinting slightly in the sunlight, the sixteen year old was one of the first to drag his trunk to the Entrance Hall, one of the first to get on a coach, and therefore one of the first to jump on to the train.
Sliding the compartment door closed behind him, Dalt slung his bag over his head and slumped into the seat next to the window. The minimal British sunlight had him in a better mood than usual, allowing his thoughts to stray to his summer plans. Thinking of Charlotte's smile when he'd agreed to go away with her was almost enough to squash any doubts he had, and he made a mental note to find the Gryffindor when the train was a little more settled.

It was over. It was finally over. Making her way down the train corridor, Nicky scanned compartment to compartment, looking for one that was either completely empty or that she could easily... encourage the occupants to vacate. She had no desire to repeat her train ride from the beginning of the term, and she thought she'd established enough of a reputation that once she was established in a compartment for the ride back, very few would dare try to sit with her. She looked back over her shoulder at Echo with a smirk as she opened the door to one that was, indeed, empty.
"Come on," she said, reaching out and grabbing his wrist to tug him inside. "Freedom's just a train ride away."

Char wasn't looking for anyone in particular exactly, just anyone in general. Or you know, anyone who was a friend of hers which was a lot of people so might as well just be called anyone. She tended not to stick in one place for the train journey, flitting about in her excitement and nattering on with whoever happened to catch her interest.
It just so happened that Dalton Fletcher was very much in her interest. Very catching. Very caught.
She spied him as she was prancing past that particular compartment, backtracked, and APPEARED in the doorway with a huge smile.
"Dalton!" And she obviously invited herself in. This wasn't something he would likely have any surprise about. Charlotte flopped down on the seat across from him, then abruptly changed her mind, got up, and sat next to him instead. "Hi!"

Melbourne was exhausted. The drama, everything of her second year had been exhausting. Still she was going to miss watching all of the drama that seemed to plague the older students experiences at the school was going to be boring…really, it was like watching an expertly staged sitcom fall apart before your own eyes. Hogwarts probably could be its own reality tv show with all of the drama that always plagued the establishment.
One thing was certain to the Gryffindor.
She had a lot of ‘splaing to do….maybe pretending to be asleep was the best way to avoid doing that?

Oh no. Nope. Not happening. Hadley wasn't buying it, and even if she had, it still wouldn't have worked. The soon-to-be-14-year-old tapped Mel's shoe. Then did so again. And again. She kept smacking her friends foot, being as annoying as possible.
"Nope, no sleeping until you tell me everything about your snogging adventure!" After all, Hads did tell Mel about her love potion fiasco so, it was only fair. Hadley sat down next to Mel and started poking her arm endlessly. She'd be annoying all the way home if she had to. She was good at it.

Sure she was exhausted but that didn’t mean that she hadn’t casually watched as Hadley had moved to join her in the compartment. Heck, she was about to comment when Hadley had started kicking her shoe repetitively. Mel thought about opening her mouth to speak when Hadley had moved on to poking her.
“Noooooooooooooooooooooo” she let out a little dramatic squeal as the poking commenced. “I’m not explaining things here…I can tell you other things though” she grinned over to Hadley hoping that she’d get a kick out of the situation…”a well…housemate of mine asked me if I’d date them for the summer” she paused for a moment before adding “he backed out…there was a contract and everything.”
“Actually I talked him into letting me help sell the contracts next term” she grinned.

Scarlett couldn't believe she was going to be a THIRD year already. Hadn't she just gotten to school like, yesterday? And, on an even sadder note - she had one year left of freedom before Clay came and practically ruined everything. Ugh. She was NOT looking forward to having her siblings there with her. It was nice to be free and just do her own thing.
Finding a carriage that was empty, Scarlett smiled to herself. Maybe she'd take a nap - that was her goal this summer. Not to nap, but to just lay around and do NOTHING. Her dad was running for Minister, and as far as she knew, that meant they didn't have any vacations coming up.
Once she was settled in her seat, she opened her cat basket and let Snowball come out and stretch. The fluffy Persian crawled out and immediately stretched out, flexing his claws before settling into the seat next to her and curling up in a ball.

Hattie couldn't believe that it was time to go home already. She had had such a great first year, but she was excited for Summer. She adored summer so much. She was excited to see her father too. she knew that it was going to be a busy one for him, with him going up to be Minister. But she hoped that they would get to spend some time together.
She headed along the train corridor, trying to find herself somewhere to sit. She wanted to get a good spot, so that she could have a nice journey back. She opened a compartment door, and noted that she kind of knew the person in their. She was in the same house as her.
"Can I sit with you?"

"Longest train ride of my life." He had followed her the entire time. Not minding anyone else because he really didn't like anyone else. Echo tolerated Nicky on a high key level, which was why he was letting her pull him along. "I'm not sharing this compartment with anyone else." And he was eyeing everyone around them just in case they got ideas.

Tolerance was a good word for it. Nicky had resolved that she wasn't making friends this term, and she had not. Not friends. A... mutually beneficial alliance, maybe. "We could put up a 'do not disturb' sign," she offered, agreeing that this compartment was solely a two-person space. "Or just hex anyone that comes through the door."

Tenacius was running a little behind his friends. Because Trolley Witch. That just says it all really.
He tossed the rest of his carry-ons onto the over head compartment and plopped himself down on the seat, partly listening to Hadley interrogating Mel and his childhood bestie doing what she does best. The Curly Top crossed his legs up against whatever nook or cranny he can lodge his sneakers into and just started munching away on a packet of jelly slugs with a look on his face yes Mel do tell.

How was her first year OVER already?? Sky recalled so much buildup and expectations for what felt like years before she was old enough to attend and yet her first year was drawing to a close. It was essentially what she hoped it would be, albeit she was rather saddened by lack of quidditch but at least they still got to fly a little bit. She wondered as a second year of quidditch was not back then she'd be able to still go out on the pitch and practice? And then thought back to her meetup with Hadley and decided yes ...
Walking slowly down the corridor as she reflected upon her year and adventures and what she hoped to do more and do better in upcoming years, Sky heard an all too familiar voice just in front of her.
Disguising her voice into one as deep as she could manage, Sky said assertively and very seriously, "No. That seat is reserved for cool peeps only. No geeks"

Without intending it, a smile crept onto Hadley's face as Ace joined them. That didn't change the matter-at-hand though, nosireebob. And Mel's answer, though interesting, was not the one Hads wanted.
Her incessant poking faltered a moment at the talk of the contract. Then Hads shook her head and resumed poking her friend. "Nope, not going to cut it. You can tell me all about this contract after you tell me...er, us about the snogging." She leveled her eyes sharply at Mel. "I told you all about my love potion fiasco, so spill it." Hadley paused a moment, her eyes widening. She grinned. "Was it Carl? It was Carl right?"

Scarlett was lost in thought, thinking about all the tanning by the pool she was going to do this summer, when she heard someone slide in and ask if they could sit. Just as she opened her mouth, however, someone else came along and started talking to her...she grinned at the girl joking with the other one. Clearly they knew each other, and Scarlett felt like she knew them too - not personally, but she knew their faces. The one was a Hufflepuff for sure, she knew. The other one...she just remembered from classes. Scarlett was good with faces. Not so much with names, but faces, yes.
"Don't worry, I think you're pretty cool," she told the first girl with a grin, gesturing for her to sit down. Snowball sat up, glaring at the interruption to his nap, but then rested his head again, deciding that they weren't worth his precious kitty time. "And you are too. I think. I dunno, just assuming," she giggled to both of them as she scooted to make some room. They looked about her age, maybe first year, but that was practically the same thing in her book. She still felt like a firstie sometimes...

Woah his fifth year was finally coming to an end. This slytherin could deal with it. As he saw everyone piling into the first car because ya know, people were lazy to walk down to the back of the train. He dropped off his trunk at the conductor's station and then began to take his stroll. He walked around and saw some familiar faces. He nodded toward Mel and Hadley. He tried to find his own compartment just so he could draw. He managed to find one at the end and began to curl up and draw anything that came up to mind.
Melbourne Johanson’s face was the color of an over ripened tomato. There was even a slight wheezing sound coming from the soon to be third year student. “No no nononononoon no nope nooooooooope” she gulped and shook her head before looking from Hadley to Ace.
Ace’s face was screaming at her to explain things but Hadleys’ words…dear lord was she going to melt through the seat into a pool of awkward. “The contract didn’t happen.” She gulped and felt her eyes widen. The Gryffindor jumped up from her seat and thrust her hand over Hadley’s mouth.
WHAT IF HE HAD HEARD THAT? She’d look like even more of a fool especially after running away from the treehouse like a fool. “It wasn’t him” Mel’s eyes were panic ridden as she stood there. “Fine…fine I partly said that so that I could prove to Colt that I wasn’t…” oh look Colt was walking by and glared at him for not coming in to rescue her…wait he wouldn’t rescue her he would have just probably asked the same questions as her two best friends. “Guys…I’m not saying names here where people can hear but one was in your house Hads….and no before you ask it wasn’t Rooney.” She added and even made a face.
“I know how well you two get along – even if that wouldn’t matter to begin with…and well, the second was a really nice slytherin boy.” She nodded. “He’s a friend of mine actually and he asked if he could kiss me.” She admitted in a hushed tone. Taking a deep breath and removing her hand from Hadley’s mouth she added, “I’ve never even held hands with you know…we’ve just hugged like a few times and talk and he’s my friend and I care about him sure…but right…the contract” she cleared her throat.
“Ace…you remember that ‘Girlfriend application’ thing that our uh housemates did? Well…it was one of those guys” she admitted with a flush to her cheek. “Actually…we’re just friends now but” she paused and looked at her friends “we aren’t doing anything I’m still just as single as I was when I was born.”
