The back of the train is the last to leave the station, and the last to kiss London goodbye. Those who linger here might be sad to see the summer end, or maybe they're just not eager for summer away from Hogwarts. It's a raucous area, though, full of fun and frivolity, and the detritus that collects in the wake of all these students.

So the rocking motion of the train was not soothing at all to the little girl attempting to sleep away her troubles on the bench. So far no one has come in to see her.. And that was okay. There was really only a handful of people she wanted to see. Jace being at the top of that list.
Her dull purple eyes slid open as she heard the compartment door open and she managed a small smile as she saw who it was.
Esme!
She slowly pushed herself upwards so she was sitting vertical on the seats and she looked up at her friend.
"How's it going Esme? How was your summer?" She asked as she pushed her hair behind her ear

Oh how she hoped to run into them.
Finally she had made her way to almost the very back of the train, and by chance had looked back to see if there was an empty compartment when she noticed none other than Ariadne sitting in a compartment (with others around their age at least!). Sighing with relief, she knocked on the compartment door and tried to make eye contact with each of the three in there.
"Hello, mind if I join?..." and directing her attention back to Ariadne she asked her, "Remember me, Ariadne?"

She was glad she didn't have to worry about riding alone. Ariadne looked carefully at the girl asking if she remembered her. Ohh...SHE DID! "Flourish and Blott's!" ... "Kye, right? Of course I remember you. Come on in!" she replied. "This is Carl and..." ...a new girl she didn't even know yet. She looked at the new girl, realizing she hadn't yet mentioned her name.
Vivian let out a relieved sigh. Yay, at least she had a place to sit and a compartment with students that were just about her age. The blonde smiled at the two students inside. "Thank you so much," she said and entered the compartment. Alas, a place to rest her poor little feet! But before she could slide the door close, someone else decided to join too! Not that the eleven year old seemed to mind, at least. She loved company actually!
Vivi took a seat beside the brunette girl, who introduced herself as Ariadne Greingoth. She should ask her Auntie about her. Maybe she was a daughter of someone Aunt Elise knew. That would've been cool. "Nice to meet you, Ariadne," Vivi said. "And you too, Carl. Nice to meet you too." Yay! More friendsies! The blonde was so pumped for this term. Let us forget the fact that she was wibbling a lot before hopping abroad the train. She'd forgotten all about that!
Oh, right. She forgot to introduce herself. Ehe, oopsies. Vivi grinned at all the occupants of the compartment. "My name is Vivian Fairfield. First year," she shared. Or maybe the first year part was pretty obvious? Ariadne and Carl seemed to know each other. Must've been a year or two older than her, then. But the other girl - Ariadne introduced her as Kye, if she wasn't mistaken - looked new. Hopefully someone just as new as she was!
But first things first. Vivi took out a gigantic bag of marshmallows from her sling bag. Her mum had placed an undetectable expansion charm on it so that it could actually fit. "Do you guys want marshmallows?" She didn't mind sharing. Vivian was actually feeling extra generous and friendly today.

Juno was taking a stroll down the train after eating the two sandwiches she had packed for herself. She was always eating but still so slender! It was so weird. Another thing she and her father had in common....?
Anyway, Juno was in very good spirits today. She was excited for the new year. Last year had been extremely stressful for her. She was to scared to leave the dormitory after what the hag had told her sister, so she didn't leave except to go to classes. She didn't even get to go to Hogsmead and it would have been her first time last year! But things were definitely looking up. The hag was gone and she didn't have to worry about anything happening to her anymore.
For some reason, as Juno was walking, she kept hearing a little clicking noise. She looked down and noticed her boot was untied. Sighing, she squatted down, and tied her it again. She overheard 2 familiar voices....

Kye felt a bit of internal relief that she was remembered and welcomed. As everyone was introduced, she looked at the person, trying to memorize their face and name. She hadn't had that much practice before so this was all new. "My name is... well it's Valkyrie Atwater, but I go by Kye, and I'm also a first year, " she told the group at large. She was on the fence about her name. She thought it sounded awesome, but right now she was a little sheepish since their names all seemed more ordinary. Yea, Kye would be better.
Something started feeling heavy in her hand. "Er... I guess I should ask before getting settled, is anyone allergic to cats?" She readjusted the carrier in her hands and raised it so that they could see. "This is Edana.. or Edie (ee-dee) for short," she shrugged. Edie was looking around curiously, her emerald eyes shining ever bright compared to her black fur. She was still only 11 weeks old or so, so everything she did was adorable.
She didn't want to deal with anyone's allergic reactions if they had them so she figured she had better ask now. Honestly though, it shouldn't be an issue since it was one of the accepted pets of Hogwarts...
Serious he was only kidding and he was not THAT dumb. Yes he was. Well the slytherin dude she was talking about had to like her a little if the dude had given her flowers. Oh well what did Dante know. He knew nothing about flowers that was for sure.

Dora really thought all boys except Corby were dumb, so it wasn't personal, Dante! And really... she was judging him a bit. SURELY Dante wasn't totally dumb. Time would tell?

Polished a clear colour with a sprinkle of glitter, just for her first day of school. Not that she was trying to make an impression on anyone or anything. She focused her attention on a smidge of dirt stuck behind one of her nails but flailed her arms up and shrieked after the most rude outburst ever made its way into her compartment.
A FROG???!
Her legs leapt off the ground and she hugged her knees tightly into her chest, dodging the human that crash landed into the seats after this so-called frog. As if she was going to dirty her hands and help him find it! "Are you mad???!!" Little did she know this fuss was all over a mere piece of chocolate. "Don't you know you should keep your pets caged when on public transport!" Rhian SCOWLED.

Carl grinned at how relieved the blonde girl looked. Maybe she was new, that would explain the anxiety and how he had never seen her before. "Nice to meet you too, Vivian!" He said. So she was a First Year. Cool - she must be excited for Hogwarts!
The Badger nodded at Ariadne. "Yeah. We went to Professor Myers's recording studio and recorded a Hufflepuff song. There were these balloons that had music notes in them, those were awesome." He said. He listened to her description of her summer, she seemed to have a happy holiday as well. "Cool! Does your sister play Professional Quidditch?" He was always interested in hearing about the Wizarding Sport, even though he did not play it.
He looked up again as the door opened. Another girl around their age had decided to join them! "Hi! Nice to meet you, Kye." Carl smiled.
The twelve-year-old turned his attention back to Vivian as he heard a ruffling noise and his smile broadened at the sight of the big bag of marshmallows. "Yes, thank you. I can buy you guys something at the Food Trolley later if you want." He said.
Cats? "No, I love cats!" Carl could not take his eyes away from Kye's small cat. "She is adorable ..." He admitted. Speaking of pets, where did his owl go again?

Wandering the train was interesting in and of itself in the sense that you never fully knew what or who you would run into. Today though there was nothing. It was rather quite and boring compared to the start of last term. Most everyone was deep in conversation and she wasn't about to get herself into that. So as it was she was humming one of the new songs her and The Sirens had been working on over the summer. The better she knew the tune to it the easier it was to play...at least for her.
Someone clearing their thought and then saying her name broke her from her little daze. Lifting her fully her hazel eyes landed on a house mate. "Hey Colt, how're you?" she greeted with her usual Slytherin grin. It had been awhile they had really talked but she wasn't able to pin point just how long exactly. His question had her looking down at the cat in her arms. "Hagan, my cat. Surely you've seen him about the common room before?" Maybe he had and just didn't realize it was hers. It happened with so many pets in the castle. And yes Colt Hady was very well aware that you're staring. Why, she wasn't so sure on as of yet.

Wandering the train was interesting in and of itself in the sense that you never fully knew what or who you would run into. Today though there was nothing. It was rather quite and boring compared to the start of last term. Most everyone was deep in conversation and she wasn't about to get herself into that. So as it was she was humming one of the new songs her and The Sirens had been working on over the summer. The better she knew the tune to it the easier it was to play...at least for her.
Someone clearing their thought and then saying her name broke her from her little daze. Lifting her fully her hazel eyes landed on a house mate. "Hey Colt, how're you?" she greeted with her usual Slytherin grin. It had been awhile they had really talked but she wasn't able to pin point just how long exactly. His question had her looking down at the cat in her arms. "Hagan, my cat. Surely you've seen him about the common room before?" Maybe he had and just didn't realize it was hers. It happened with so many pets in the castle. And yes Colt Hady was very well aware that you're staring. Why, she wasn't so sure on as of yet.
"Hey..I have been good! Erm just.." He couldn't even form sentences right now because he was so stunned. He tried to shake himself out of it mentally. "It has been a while since I have seen you. What have you been doing..?" Like seriously she seemed non existent. She might of had a better summer than he did. Well not true exactly, he went to Australia yet again and that had its perks. "Ahh hey Hagan.." he nodded towards the cat. When she mentioned the common room, he thought about it and now remembered. "Ah yeah. I know your cat would cuddle on my lap sometimes if I was supposed to be studying for a test.." When in fact he was really admiring the scenery and the trying to see if he can spot the giant squid. He held out his hand for Hagan to sniff.
He took the seat across from her since he was sure no one was sitting there. They might be exploring and such.

She laughed softly. "Hagan likes to cuddle, if you pay attention to him he'll be your best friend." Everyone and everything was the cats cuddle buddy. Hagan inched forward nudging his head against Colt's hand to be petted.

"Oh okay," said Kitty, a little embarrassed at her question now. "I thought you might have been." She paused rather awkwardly and listened as Liv and Ben debated snogging. "You know, it's funny. None of my friends at Hogwarts are dating, and not once have I ever seen anyone snogging at Hogwarts. I mean, not even the older students. If I ever meet a couple, then I'm going to ask them to let me take a picture of them kissing since it seems so rare." Finding a couple to photograph could a side mission for her this term. Surely she was bound to meet someone, right?
But now the tea was ready. "Thank you Liv." Kitty smiled and graciously took her tea cup, sipping it softly as her mom had instructed her back at home. She wondered if Liv lived in a mansion like she did, and if her mom had taught her how to sip tea also. A question for another time.
:Okay thanks guys. I'll go get her!" She left the compartment then and hurried after Elsa. "Hey Elsa! Come and sit with us. We are having a tea party." She waved her friend over and gently tugged her towards their compartment.

The struggle was right there on Maddie's face: she was friends with them both and it wasn't like she didn't have to deal with this on her own terms too. She didn't need Maddie to fix her problems; she just need a Maddie in her life. Dot patted her hand.

"Yeah? Where in NYC? I grew up there from the time I was about three until maybe nearly two or so years ago." Maybe she knew where he was from. She nodded. "Its nice. You should go if you get a chance." Hady knew she would be going back the very next time she was able to. The summer changed her for the better...she was like attractive? Honestly she wasn't sure whether to be upset by the wording or what. Had she not been attractive before to him or hadn't he just noticed? In the end the sixth year smiled softly at him. It was a compliment no matter which way it was meant. "Thanks, it must've been all those hours out in the fresh air and sunshine."
