Nana Ichihara the beautiful, poised woman who James Draper would unfortunately have to take down. Of course when it could be avoided, James didn't fight females. It'd hardly be fair. He'd much rather take them out for drinks and call it a day. However, James Draper also didn't back down from a challenge. Which is precisely why he'd do away with the rule about fighting woman for today.

He'd let her down easy, of course. But not so easy that he didn't get to flex his magical ability and his physical ability for that matter, though he was sure she was very well aware of that much.

Upon entering the dueling arena, he gave her a quick wink. "Nana," he knew she'd put up a good fight. In many ways Nana proved herself to be a challenge. But James Draper loved challenges. In fact, he welcomed them with open arms. And speaking of kind gestures, he preceded to follow proper dueling etiquette by giving her a quick bow. Let's make this as painless as possible, yeah? "Shall we?"

Once he was sure she was ready, as he played fair, he lifted his wand and cast a, "Impedimenta!" in hopes of throwing her back to allow enough time for a distractor while he went in for his next move of action.

He said a quick rose growth spell with the intention in mind to surround her by the rose bushes. He was going for the aesthetic-sort-of-trap here. "Thought I'd get you some roses," or twenty. Could he get +1000 points for romance? Heh. He stood back easily in his smug sort of way. James Draper at your service.

Nothing too difficult, he really just wanted to see how she'd respond.

Nana had, as usual, dressed for the occasion. Clad in an all black catsuit with her hair neatly tied back and black combat boots (heels would have been completely unhelpful in the case she had to run), she looked nearly fearsome. Stretching out her long limbs, Nana was keen to be as physically and mentally prepared as she could be for this duel with James. Amaterasu knows he'd never let her live it down if she lost to him.

She would not be underestimating him, James Draper only looked stupid. The truth was that the man had the brains and the brawn to back up all his arrogant bravado, which only made it all the more... frustrating.

Standing at her full height, Nana smirked slightly as the man in question entered the arena. "James." She coolly said, only just managing not to roll her eyes at his wink. He was incorrigible, annoying, charming and far too obvious for her liking. Or perhaps he flirted with everyone on staff, Nana would have to ask. She bowed, dipping her head down low in a smooth, elegant sweep before rising again and locking eyes with him. "After you." Generous, wasn't she?

Obvious, obvious, obvious. Too obvious. Nana was certain the spell was a crux for the next. Flicking her wrist, she just managed to deflect the Impedimenta when suddenly she was entrapped in a circle of..... Roses? "How Romantic." She coyly remarked. The scent of them was overpowering, but they were hardly a threat, simply very cumbersome. Flourishing her wand, Nana casted a quiet scorching spell toward the bushes, causing them to quickly burn up with a white hot flame.

with only a smirk to Draper, nana forged forward with her plan. "Expelliarmus!" She casted, pointing her wand at James in the hopes that he would falter back just long enough for her next spell to go unnoticed. She muttered a quiet Disillusionment Charm on herself before walking as quietly from her previous spot as she could.

Let's see how you handle this...

He was going to assume that she got all dressed up for his pleasure. Because James was enjoying the view a bit too much, it seemed. There should be rules against that, it could prove to be rather distracting.

”Thought you’d like them,” he managed, grinning slyly at the sight. Burning roses, what a metaphor.

The roses had bought him some time to prepare for whatever she was intending on throwing at him first. Her choice in expelliarmus was a good one, he thought. But luckily all those years training in jungle warfare over in Brunei had taught him a thing or two about quick reflexes. Meaning as soon as she uttered the spell, he managed to jump to the side and roll away from it’s streamline.

Though he was assuming that much was planned on her part, she knew he’d have enough time to escape. Must be a set up for whatever she had planned— Ah.

’Clever,’ he thought, noting her sudden absence from the room. He cast a silent Homenum Revelio to figure out where she was. As he added, ”Invisibility does take the distraction away.” The distraction being what she decided to wear to the duel. Just saying. That was hardly fair here.

And his next move was a ”Ventus,” pointed in her general direction. To blow her away, get it? He had that sort of effect on woman.

It was a very silly spell to throw out there, yes, but this was all just fun and games for the moment being.

Nana Ichihara did not dress for men, she dressed for herself, thank you very much, James Draper. Her catsuit had been carefully chosen for it’s mobility, comfort and ease. Distraction may or may not have been a factor in the decision making, but that was not something Nana Ichihara would admit to anytime soon.

The banter was cute, but as the duel moved on, Nana minded was taken up with strategy. Verbal barbs, coy comments and the like would have to wait a bit. Though she did return his sly smile with a matching one of her own.

James was a tricker opponent than one would expect, he was clever, quick thinking and rather snake-like in his ability to slither and slide through problems. She needed to think viciously, coldly, calculatingly, otherwise he would get the upper hand. While still under her previous spell, Nana sent a silent Locomotor Mortis James’ way with the intention of trapping him. Now, if she could just sneak up behind him while he had dealt with that…

Oh. Well.

Nana could feel the spell being removed. The cold trickling along her skin stopped and she knew it had to be the work of her opponent. Clever, very clever. And so detrimental to her plan. Gryffindors.

She didn’t have much time to consider his words., far too busy being blown back by a sudden and extreme gust of wind that knocked her to her knees. Glancing up, Nana raised her wand and quickly cast “Herbifors!” In the hope that the spell would distract James long enough that she could regain herself.

No, no she had definitely worn the catsuit for him. There wasn’t any doubt about it in his mind.

And he had no complaints.

Well he had one complaint. And it had everything to do with the spell that had just caught him off guard and bonded his legs together. She must’ve thrown it out before he had removed her disillusionment charm.

Clever.

And unfortunately it meant James was momentarily distracted with undoing the jinx with a ”Finite,” directed at his legs.

He had been expecting this from her, not one to underestimate his opponent. Especially when it was Nana Ichihara of all people. She was perhaps one of the few members of staff James would ever see as a threat in a duel. Though of course this wasn’t something he would admit out loud. She was clever and quick to bounce back on her feet.

Which was evident as she moved to throw another spell his way, which he was able to block with a quick ”Protego,” deciding to keep moving quickly, James threw his own wand in the air once more to send a ”Tarantallegra,” Nana’s way.

Purpose of which was to annoy her with the use of such basic spells. But mainly because he loved a woman who could dance.

............... Well this was an interesting duel, wasn't it?

First, Nana appeared in something that would probably get many teenage boys' hearts racing and then James was producing flowers and trying to woo his colleague. The man couldn't help but let out a small snort at the number of roses he managed to conjure up. Nice. Pity it didn't work but at least the Creatures professor knew how to be romantic.

And no, there weren't any romance points to be had. Sorry, James.

The duel continued, much to the amusement of the Defence professor who was having too much fun just watching it commence. Pity it looked like James was losing. See, while the man was all too happy with trying to be flirtatious, Nana seemed to be storming off ahead and taking the duel seriously. At least they weren't giving each other pet names and being lovey dovey in the dueling arena, eh? The man didn't think he could stand that level of awkward.

Pity the duel had to come to an end.

Constructing that all too familiar magical shield, he stepped out from the shadows and towards the pair. Any leftover effects for spells were gone. You're welcome. "Excellent duel, James and Nana. Really excellent. Some excellent magical ability was displayed there." Needless to say, he didn't expect anything else, especially from members of the staff. "While you've put up a great fight, James, I have to say that Nana has taken the lead for this duel. Congratulations, Nana!"

Now, could they go and get drinks? Something told him they needed it.
