The legendary portable swamp created by Fred and George Weasley was once large enough to consume the entire middle section of the first floor corridor, leading from the Dark Arts office to the History of Magic classroom. Nowadays, only a small section of the corridor is roped off in tribute of the redhead twins' swamp, but it is a historic section nonetheless.
The remaining swamp still SMELLS like authentic swamp, LOOKS like authentic swamp, BUBBLES like authentic swamp, and will suck you in like an authentic swamp, if you so wish to step in it. Avoid the swamp with care is the best advice you should heed while on the first floor, especially if you're running late to class.

"I think you're right about Tanner trolling us," said Kitty, pointing to the note floating above the swamp. "At least it wasn't hard to find." Now they could go back to class.
Esme couldn't even respond to Kitty. She was too busy laughing at the sign that was floating over the Weasley Swamp. "That was definitely good." In more ways than one. Not only had the Professor trolled them, that was a pretty cool way to get them to go back to class.
Wow. "I never thought I'd have fun in ARITHMMANCY of all classes." Math didn't generally scream out FUN even though she actually didn't mind the subject. It was generally pretty easy and she did rather like the Professor. Case and point: her sense of humour. "Okay, back to class it is!"
Smiling, she headed towards the stairs with Kitty.

The walk to the first floor had indeed been long. Thankfully the moving staircases hadn’t provided any troublesome detours. That would have been the last thing they needed, especially in this stage of the game, or rather any stage of the game. So they made it to the main corridor, Olivia looking for any stand out tapestries or paintings since the previous two had been in similar locations. But the only landmarks they found was one that was hard to miss by the smell: the Weasley Swamp. The Ravenclaw walked closer, planning on simply passing the roped off area, only to spot what they were looking for.
“Guess its all over…” Olivia mused to her partner, turning around to go back the way they had come. Just one more trek in this adventure, one floor back up to the Arithmancy classroom like their instructions said. "Onward!"

"There's nothing here, Ariadne...the hall is pretty empty." he said in a hushed tone, not wanting to disturb the on-going lectures inside the Muggle Studies Classroom and History of Magic. He didn't want to deal with the very kind Headmistress right now, really.
Without warning, his stomach grumbled in protest making him stop, and turned slowly towards Ariadne. "Sorry about that." he said as his hand tried to tamp down the remaining sounds his stomach made. They've been going up and down stairs for quite a while now, so it was just natural for the boy to exhaust some of his energy. "I should've taken a heavier meal this morn-- Ariadne look! Behind you! It's the clue!" Jace ran past his partner, and stopped at very edge of the swamp, wrinkling his nose. It didn't smell so good, really.
With his parchment and quill ready to jot down a professor's name, Jace stood there...wondering if it's an instruction...or a trick. Closing his mouth, he turned around to face Ariadne and gave her a shrug. "I guess it's game over." he said putting his parchment and quill away in his pocket. Jace inclined his head toward her smiling, "I had fun Ariadne. Thank you." he said his cheeks turning pink. "Let's go?"
Ariadne felt like she was basically running laps up and down the castle. By the time she'd gotten from the seventh floor all the way to the first floor, she was slightly out of breath. She hoped the next clue really led to the classroom and not back up to the seventh floor or something. She might have to consider giving up at that point. Heh. Who was she kidding? She'd totally go for that next clue!
When she finally caught up to Jace, he was saying something about not seeing anything on this floor. "I was afraid of that," she said. "Sometimes I think we're just running in circles." She giggled when his stomach started grumbling. "It's cool. From what I've heard, boys are always hungry anyway," she said. Now whether or not that was true was a different story. She almost jumped when he called out for her to look. Whirling around, she saw the clue. THE CLUUUUUUE!
"Game over? Kinda sad...," she said. "You were an awesome partner! Thanks for all the fun!" She nodded when he asked if they should go. Turning away from the swamp, because it smelled AWFUL and was nowhere she wanted to stay for long, Ariadne turned on her heels and left for the classroom.

All of the scrolls had thusfar been on or near landmarks on their respective floors. Tapestries for the first two, but... as far as Jaemin knew, there weren't any relatively important tapestries on the first floor. A long row of portraits and stuff, but no tapestries. What was most commonly used as a gathering or meeting place on the first floor was-
He smelled it before he saw it, and caught sight of the floating parchment as he put a hand over his nose. It was so groooooooss. The small boy squinted up at the scroll of paper, almost glad for the words on it; he was normally very energetic, yeah, but all of this up and down the stairs business was starting to get a little tiresome.
"Over already?" He had been expecting at least six more scrolls, professor! "Ahhh..."
For a long moment, he considered that maybe this scroll was a trick. Maybe they weren't supposed to listen to the words on it, but instead add the words up like they had with the professors' names. But that was an awful lot of letters, and Jaemin was pretty sure that Professor Tanner wasn't that tricksy. She was straightforward, even if her subject sometimes seemed like it wasn't...
Still, he added the numbers up in his head as he turned to catch up with Olivia, humming softly to himself and looking around as they went back to the steps.
"It reduces to three," he said absently, before taking to the stairs. To the classroom!

Of course it was the swamp.
He saw it floating there as soon as the swamp came into view, and he was quick to give Janelle a playful elbow nudge. THEY DID IT! "It's okay, you can tell me I'm a genius now," he beamed, closing the gap between them and the cordoned off section of stink. Charming.
Back to the classroom?
So... they didn't have to calculate another number? He was actually a little disappointed. Like, he really didn't much mind practicing calculations, though he felt that right now working on interpretations might benefit him more anyway. Oh well. There'd be time for that.

"I guess that's it then." Mmhhmm.
Still following closely behind Zeke, Janelle saw the parchment a moment after he did. Breaking into a smile, she playfully said, "Why Zeke you are a genius. We found them all." But Back to the Classroom? That was a little anticlimactic. Janelle was glad that they had completed the task, but a little sad that it was over so soon.
"I guess so. We're done." Thanks for playing. Please collect your lovely parting gifts. "I guess we'd better get back to the classroom", Janelle said as she began to walk in that direction. Suddenly she stopped and turned to her partner. "Hey Zeke, thanks for working with me today. It was a lot of fun." Janelle was glad that she'd had the chance to be partners with Zeke again. They made a good team.
Then with a devilish smile Janelle added, "Come on. I'll race you back to class."

He figured why not check out the REAL first floor before he subject themselves on a wild goose chase on the lower floors? So Tenacius quickly scoped out the corridors and rooms here before he came upon the swamp. "I hope that parchment isnt in there and that we have to fish it out...." he mumbled to his team before he straightened himself up and added "Lets check the ground floor then, and maybe the dungeons."
Oh but wait!-- There was something odd suspended in mid-air right in the middle of the bog. "Hey look that’s the parchment!" the lion cub pointed excitedly. "Wait what does it say?" It was so small and at that distance it was hard to read. He looked at his team and then at Sabbath and muttered "Maybe now that spell will work yeah?" He turned, took out his Alder wood and commanded that parchment "Accio!"
Sabbath had agreed with Tenacious that starting the search on the real first floor was a good idea and the trio had made quick work of finding the next parchment suspended in the Weasley Bog.
Sabbath nodded at Tenacius when he suggested trying the accio spell again, "Yeah man, its worth a try". He watched as his new friend cast the same accio spell that hadn't worked earlier. They waited in the hope that the parchment would come zooming in their direction and Sabbath was ready to jump up and snatch it from the air as it approached. However, much to their dismay, the parchment remained suspended and out of reach in the middle of the bog.
Sabbath glanced at Tenacius and furrowed his brow in thought. "What else can we do to reach it?" he queried, wracking his brain. "The words are much too small to read from here" he thought out loud, and then it suddenly came to him - he had an idea, "That's it, the words are too small. Lets try this.."
Sabbath took out his wand and made the incantion for 'engorgio' and cast it toward the parchment. Although the parchment remained suspended in the same position over the bog, almost immediately it expanded in size, the words becoming visible. He looked at Mel and Tenacius with a smile, "Hey, it worked!" he exclamed. "I guess its back to the classroom for us then", he said to them both. He stowed his wand back in the pocket of his robes ready to accompany his team back to the arithmency room.

Melbourne looked at the swamp when they arrived and huffed. “I can probably wade through this I don’t care if I come out smelling like a troll’s bathroom” she huffed and was about to step into the swamp when Ace found the note.
“Are they serious? We have to go back up again?” She huffed. “So…classroom guys?” She asked and turned and began trudging back to the Arithmancy classroom. “You three want to race?” She asked even though her legs felt like lead.

His Ravenclaw partner was smart, yes, because he really was a genius. Zeke beamed, enjoying the ego-stroking he was receiving. But YES, they had found them all... so... it was over. Just one more staircase and they'd be back to where they started from. "Suppose we should," he agreed.
Sigh.
But what was that? Zeke paused, a curious expression crossing his features as Janelle turned to him.
Thanks?
"No worries, I mean, it was fun... I like working with you." It wasn't the first time they had, and he hoped it wouldn't be the last. "We make a good team," he added, offering her a smile, "so thanks for agreeing to be stuck with me." It was no easy feat, working with a hot genius. But that wasn't all...
She wanted to race?
"Oh, bring it on," he beamed, setting off after giving her a slight head start. Ladies first.

Darting down the corridor, she stopped just short of stepping into the swamp. She wondered why after all these years, no professor ever cleaned up even this little bit of swamp. It seemed rather unsanitary to Tia to have a swamp in a castle.
But no matter, because there it was, floating in air above the swamp.... her next clue. And what did it say? To the classroom! Wait, so she was done? Just three professor's surnames? With a heavy sigh, she decided to do one last calculation, just for the sake of it. Even though this wasn't a surname, she was curious what number this phrase added up to.
So she leaned against the wall opposite the swamp and began to work it out ever so carefully.
Almost. She was hoping that the calculation would be a two, because the Arithmancy classroom was located on the second floor, but alas, no such luck. Feeling slightly disheartened, she made sure her name was on the top of her calculation sheet and headed up the one floor back to the classroom.
