"Hey Ariadne! Of course, hop on up!" she said with a grin, tapping the spot on the ledge next to her and scooting over to make room. Her pink glitter shoes were sparkling in the sunlight as they hung over the edge - it really was a PERFECT spring day! "I've been around - catching up on homework, I got really sick after coming back from Florida and missed some classes so I've been trapped under a pile of homework for a while," she admitted with a scowl. Slowly but surely, though, she was catching up and she was sure she'd be one of the top point earners at the end of term. An excellent end to an excellent year! |
Text Cut: Lissy Longbottom By the time Scarlett had offered her a seat, Ariadne had already climbed over next to her and plopped down. She watched her feet dangle over the side of the treehouse for a few seconds before looking up again. She'd been sick? "What was wrong?" she asked, not even stopping to think that Scarlett might not even want to talk about it. Well, she probably wouldn't have brought it up had she not wanted to talk about it. Just in case, she changed the topic pretty quickly. "Can you believe that we're almost out for the summer! Not trying to sound like a baby or anything, but I'm pretty excited to go back home to my mom and dad," she said. Friends were cool and all, but she was only twelve. She had PLENTY of time to grow up then get out on her own. It would have been PERFECT had her mom still been teaching here and been Ariadne's Head of House. Ariadne paused and looked out over the grounds. "How far from here do you live?" she asked Scarlett. It was awesome that when Ariadne was old enough to go to Hogsmeade, she could just visit her mom and dad! Yeah...she was really starting to sound like a baby. |

"I know, right?! It's just flown by...and honestly, it wasn't as crazy as I thought. I heard some horror stories about things that happened here...kids DYING and stuff...and yet we didn't really have any of that!" she exclaimed. They just had some goofy poltergeists running around, messing things up. And that was kind of their job, so... "I live outside of London. In Swiss Cottage," she told her. "Where do you live?" she asked. She hadn't even thought about getting to hang out with her new friends over the summer! That would be awesome! She didn't have the shop to work in anymore, so she needed SOMETHING to do! |

It was a lot easier said than done. "No wonder many people give up on this spell." Esme laughed even though she didn't want to be one of said people. It was a fair observation to make, however. Her mind and emotions were already exhausted and she hadn't been practicing for long! Sighing, she continued to pet Hagan. "You're right about that. I think we are both more of the active type." She didn't think of herself as being intellectual like Teddy, who loved reading. |
SPOILER!!: Esme Hady was sure that one day her friend would be able to cast a Patronus with ease. Right now it might not seem that way but once the right memory was found it would happen. Patience had to be a thing when it came to this. "It's not at all easy but the first time you're able to do it and you see the form your patronus takes all that hard work was well worth it." That's how she felt about it anyway. Good things came to those who wait, right? Sitting around doing nothing wasn't something she could ever do. Hady had a constant need to be productive. "Exactly. I don't mind sitting here with Hagan and keeping him company but it's not something I could do all day every day." Sorry cat but the boring lazy life wasn't for her. |
Esme was so glad that she had bumped into Hady. Not only did they have a nice talk, but she was learning more about casting a Patronus. Somehow the idea of going to Professor Hirsch had never dawned on her though she supposed that he would be great assistance as well - how could he not be when the spell was a part of his area of expertise? Maybe she would seek him out later on if she needed more help... but for now THIS was enough. Looking at her watch, she saw that it was getting late and she needed to get some work done. Indeed they really couldn't spend all day idling away in the way that a cat could. Shame. Sighing, she figured that she had better head out now before she became too lazy to do any of her homework. Her parents would not be impressed if her grades slipped. Oh well. She was a good Hufflepuff. "I have to go, but thank you so much for everything. It means a lot. I'll definitely keep everything you said in mind and I'll make sure to go to you if I need anymore help." This really meant a lot to her. After giving Hagan a pat in farewell she scooped Sparkle up in her arms. "I'll see you guys later!" With a wave she was gone. |
SPOILER!!: Esme Hady knew she had given her younger friend much to think about in the thoughts of prefecting a patronus. It took time, effort and a little skill which all came with being magical. She had no doubt that sometime before she was to graduate she'd hear that Esme succeeded. "You're welcome I'm glad I could help," she replied with a light smile. She was always around if anyone needed anything. Hady scooped Hagan up onto her lap giving him some cuddles as she watched the girl and her pet leave. She would have to be getting back inside soon herself. There was more studying to do. |
