Once referred to as "The Mysterious Tapestry," this wall hanging first came to notice during Draconia's tenure as Headmistress. The passageway which existed behind the tapestry has long since been sealed, but the tapestry continues to be a site of great interest to those familiar with its story or those who appreciate such textile arts.
It also makes a convenient meeting place as there is no other tapestry as grand and vibrant as this in the castle.

Zeke was enthusiastic, that was probably the kindest word for him dragging the Ravenclaw along with him. Still his hand hadn't left her wrist, but he wasn't holding hard, like, she could free herself if she wanted to.
"Can you see it?" he asked as he walked them along the corridor.
His eyes were peeled, and all he could assume was that the parchment would be the same siz----.. there it was. Dropping Janelle's wrist, Zeke pointed to the wall-spot beside the tapestry. "There, Myers," he said as he walked nearer, already applying the Pythagorean number system. "Myers, four, seven, five, nine, one," he dictated, turning to see if she was writing this down.
So they are looking for another parchment that’s been squirrelled away somewhere around here.
But where oh where could it be?
Tenacius started flipping open suits of armor from its armpit or its breastplate-- because that’s only as far as he could reach "HEY PARCHMENT ARE YOU IN HERE???" he yelled. Much to the sentient armors' annoyance for sure.
"If we're supposed to search the ENTIRE castle we might never finish." he told their group. "You guys have any idea how big this castle is? And that’s just the stuff we can see. I've been going around and seems to me theres just as much hidden passageways and corners and rooms as the legit ones. Maybe even more so." Its like it was another castle wrapping and twisting its way around this castle.

“I already have my entire bag Tenacius Astor Salander” Mel whined at him as she raised her bag and shook it at her friend. “Sorry about him” she muttered toward both the Armor and Sabbath.
Tenacius was Tenacius.
“OH MY GOSH A PARCHMENT!” she squealed and ran forward jotting the numbers down. “This doesn’t work.” She groaned.
“Meyers…see” she pointed at the work she had just jotted down. “See if we view the ground floor as 0 then the seventh floor is the seventh floor…there is no eighth floor…but wait…” she paused, “if we view the ground floor as the first floor then the seventh floor would be the eighth” she grinned. “c’mon lets go find things!” She grinned.

The suits of armour wobbled precariously as Tenacius conducted his search, flipping them open. Sabbath laughed and followed him along steadying each one in turn as they went. He shook his head and chuckled at Mel's apology, "It's ok, really", he was used to getting up to hi-jinx with his many cousins, it was second nature to him.
"Look, I don't know if anyone's tried, and its probably charmed not to work for this exercise, but we could just try to 'accio' the thing". He reached for his wand and quickly made the movement and incantation. Glancing at them both, he waited...... Nothing. He shrugged, "Obviously charmed. Nevermind, it was worth a shot"
The disappointment was short-lived though, as Tenacius discovered the parchment soon after and Mel set to work deciphering it. Sabbath agreed the anomaly in the numbering and flooring was odd, perhaps this meant the next parchment was going be especially hard to find.
As Kitty talked away, Esme couldn't help but raise her brow. Tapestry? What had she missed? She was utterly fascinated by all this. "I remember that day." Hard not to frown at the mention of the Hag, but somehow she managed to keep a straight face. "I don't really know anything about the Tapestry." Maybe they could solve the mystery together - after they finished the scavenger hunt.
The second clue involved her Head of House and Kitty quickly worked out the numbers. All Esme had to do was add them together and they would know where to go from there:
"Is this correct? I am confused because there isn't an eighth floor at Hogwarts." Was she missing something here?
Esme's admission that she didn't know about the Tapestry was pretty exciting - now Kitty had the chance to make her offer! "Ooh you don't? I'll tell you all about it on the way to the next clue. If you want you could join me in me in trying to solve the mystery, I really need a new partner. Mase is also helping me, she's a Slytherin first year."
"There isn't an eights floor..." said Kitty, frowning in confusion and mentally adding up Esme's numbers in her mind. "I dunno, maybe we are supposed to go to the towers on the seventh floor? Think we should ty the tower patch?" It was her first guess.

It was a good thing Janelle was in shape. Running up the stairs and trying to keep up with Zeke was not for the faint of heart. As they walked along the corridor, Janelle scanned the area for the parchment. Zeke spotted it first and immediately began to convert the letters into numbers. Wow, did he keep all that stuff in his head? Janelle was impressed.
Janelle grabbed her parchment and quill and copied down the numbers. Then she quickly added them together.

Janelle turned to Zeke with a puzzled look. She double checked her calculations, to make sure that she hadn't made a mistake. Nope, the answer was eight "It all adds up to eight, but last time I checked, there wasn't an eighth floor at Hogwarts. Maybe it's in one of the towers. Why don't we go up to the seventh floor and see if we can find something to point us in the right direction?" This time it was Janelle's turn to grab Zeke's arm, as she hurried toward the stairs.

Wandering the corridors proved to be of some good really. Stretching her legs, exercise, a bit of fun and someone to talk to. It worked out just well in her mind.
Taking her time and checking everything her and Ava came across didn't seem to hard either. "There! On the wall near the Tapestry!" On the wall was a parchment with the name MYERS on it. Taking the parchment from her pocket along with her quill Hady held the items out to her partner. "You can give this one a go." They could take turns with it so neither one of them was doing all the work. Since she had done the first name back in the classroom this made it the younger girls turn.

So Hady hadn't found anything yet?
Alright, it seemed like they're gonna looked around at the other place. Following the Slytherin girl, Ava walked across the corridor until they stopped at the tapestry. There you go. the next clue. She spotted the Professor Myers' name on that parchment.
And Hady wanted her to do the calculation. Great!
She took her notebook and started scribbling it with her muggle pen (thankfully that it's more convenient than a quill), The young lioness started calculating the family name.

Wait, eight?
"Did I miscount it?" She asked to Hady. Because there's no eighth floor in this castle.

With Ava taking her book and pen to add up the next name Hady had a moment to look up and down the corridor. So far the two of them had only found one parchment which meant they had to keep moving.
Hmm miscount? What was she talking about?
Hady walked over to stand beside her partner peering down at the parchment. MYERS. And then a few numbers which she looked over in her head and added up. "4+7+5+9+1 is 26. 2+6 is 8. So no you're totally correct." There was no eight floor though soooo...
Hady chewed her lip in thought before getting an idea, " How about one of the seventh floor towers?" Could the hint be in one of them. As she was talking she began walking towards the stairs to take them upstairs to the seventh floor.

So she was right? No miscount or anything else?
Right so.... Eight, it was eight. But the problem was there's no FREAKING EIGHT FLOOR on this castle. Professor Tanner must have been messing with them. And she didn't tell them if they got numbers above seven, right? Now, where should they head to? The young lioness watched her partner left the tapestry and she didn't have anything to do besides... Follow her.
Well, Hady was right. Maybe it's located somewhere around the seventh floor? Maybe the Astronomy or Divination tower? We'll see...

Fourth floor.
A whole floor to look for the next parchment on. Though going by the hopeful thought that Tanner wasn't going to make it too hard, and take too long, it wasn't going to be someplace too out of the way. And given as Olivia and Jaemin walked down the fourth floor corridor and spotted fellow students from class, they were getting close. It was at the one tapestry that was hanging there were their latest clue was.
Myers.
"Alright...you're turn," she mused looking to her partner as they stood in front of it. The Ravenclaw offering an textbook opened to the right page with parchment and quill stuck within.

The great thing about working with another first year was that he didn't have to take twice as many steps to keep up with Olivia. She and Jaemin weren't very differently-legged, so he could walk with her instead of behind or ahead! It was nice.
The small boy hummed to himself as they walked, eyes going from one side of the corridor to the other. Even though the other students were all in a bunch, there could be other interesting stuff around, you know?? But nothing piqued his interest until they reached everyone else, and the new scroll. This one was super easy!
"He's my favourite professor!" Jaemin said with a happy grin. "He let's me look at the dangerous plants."
His name was short too, so it was easy to add up. Jaemin carefully took the book and scribbled out the addition; he glanced at the chart only once, knowing a few of the letters by heart already.

...he looked at Olivia. "Do you suppose 8 means... outside?"
Because the castle only had seven floors. They couldn't really climb out on the roof or anything, right? Maybe the grounds were meant to be eighth?

So her partner was another fan of the Herbology professor. Very cool. "One of mine too," Olivia admitted as she watched Jaemin first copy down the name and then go to work on the numbers and the math. It was short and sweet at least but ended in a number that confused her. And apparently her partner too. The Ravenclaw shrugged at first in answer. "I don't know." There was no eighth floor, at least in the main part of the castle before the towers.
Though Jay's idea could be true too. An 'eighth' part of the castle.
"Could it mean some place HIGHER than the seventh floor, like the Owlry...or one of the towers?" she in turn questioned. "Maybe we should head up," Olivia suggested. At least that was a place to start and they could see if other teams had the same idea.

Ahhhh, she liked Professor Myers too! Jaemin positively beamed at that. Everyone should love Professor Myers. He was the best, after all. He was a Herbologist and everything.
He hadn't considered places that went higher than the seventh floor! He mostly just considered them the seventh floor, because you went into them on the seventh floor. Even though you went up... they were still seventh floor, y'know? But Olivia was probably right, and it was more likely that it was one of the towers. Because 8 was higher, and if the grounds were involved it was likely that the professor would have made them zero...
"I didn't think of that!" he said softly, nodding. "Let's go!"
Madge had gotten to the fourth floor out of breath from the Arithmancy classroom. She was looking for another piece of parchment but where could it be hiding? She Peered around and found someone she recognized from Arithmancy just leaving the tapestry, so she strode over. Looking around for a bit she finally saw the parchment.
"Myers, eh?" she muttered and began to scrawl in her notebook.

Madge sighed, up the stairs again we go. She did enjoy physical activity most days, but since arriving at Hogwarts she hadn't gotten much of it beyond walking to and from classes, but this was ridiculous.
She ran off towards the staircases, she needed to finish this in time.

He had to admit, he was impressed with Janelle for not slapping him one, or yelling or cursing for him to stop. Kudos to her for keeping up with him, like the renegade that he was. Hehe. Of course, he was also very impressive, yes. When it came to the Pythagorean system, he'd used it so many times that he had it memorised very quickly. It wasn't all that difficult if you were a visual learner and he had applied it more times than he could count.
Zeke shuffled to stand at Janelle's elbow, peeking over her shoulder slightly to see her working out. She had it, but he couldn't quite make sense of it either.
Did he do something wrong?
No.
Nope. Not possible.
"Must be," he agreed, with no other explanation for it. "I mean, it could be the Astronomy tower? Or... divination? I can't see them putting it outside one of our common rooms though..." but he could be wrong. Merlin knew.
Complying with her tug, Zeke grinned and fell into step with her. The race was on, even if the others didn't know it. Somehow though, he wasn't vying to be first, he simply enjoyed the thrill it afforded.

Once they determined that Moxley's family name number was a four, Tia led the way up to the fourth floor. Which didn't take long to determine what they were supposed to calculate next as the Head Girl spotted the familiar parchment pinned right there next to tapestry. Nice and clear, out in the open, easy for them to tell.
She scribbled it down in her notebook, quickly working through the calculations because thankfully their Herbology professor had a short surname.

Eight? There was the seventh floors. And the towers. Perhaps eight meant the towers. Waiting a minute to make sure Sam was good on her calculations, Tia then darted back to the staircases to continue up.

Kitty put away her camera after taking two pictures of the Tapestry. Then she approached it and ran her pale hand gently down the material as if she were petting a delicate animal. "It's a good thing you aren't cursed anymore," the Gothic girl told it as she continued to stroke it. "If you were then I would have been stunned the first time I touched you."

Kitty turned to look at the first year student who had approached and asked who she was talking to. "The Tapestry," responded Kitty with a strange smile. "This entire year I've been trying to learn the backstory to it. Thanks to Professor Ansley I now know. I don't suppose you've heard of it?" The Gothic girl then did something which might have gotten a few points taken away if a teacher had been watching. She wrapped part of the Tapestry around her body like a robe or a blanket, and twisted slowly inside. Of course, she was careful not to break or damage it in any way.
"My name is Kitty DuGray Valentine, but you can call me Kitty for short." She uncurled from the Tapestry and extended her pale hand to the first year student. "What is your name?"

Genny watched curiously as the girl wrapped herself in the tapestry and spoke fondly of it. Ravenclaws were the weirdest ones in the castle, she concluded. Between Daxie's lack of speaking and this girl's endearment for a tapestry, David was staring to seem like the sole normal Ravenclaw so far. She thought he was a little strange (Come on, who liked watching bugs?). "I haven't heard, no. It was cursed how?" Genny's brown eyes drifted up to the tapestry, eyeing it suspiciously. Were they sure it wasn't cursed anymore?
"Genny Tate." She took the girl's hand, always happy to meet more people from different houses. Her father urged her not to categorize people, and while she was failing at that epically, she felt she should compensate for it by making more friends.

"It's nice to meet you Genny Tate," replied Kitty with a smile. "I like your hair." Complimenting another girl's hair was Kitty's standard compliment, although sometimes it was followed with a compliment of makeup as well.
Ooh Genny didn't the story. That meant Kitty could enjoy telling it to her and seeing her reaction. She retreated back into the Tapestry and began. "Well I don't know just WHO cursed it, but they did it to protect a powerful magic book called the Book of Mysteria. An evil wizard named Voltemortist (or something like that) wanted it, and he killed people to get it." She paused then to see Genny's reaction, if she had any. "The curse didn't kill anyone, but it stunned several people many years ago. There used to be a secret tunnel behind the Tapestry, and for some reason the Book was behind it. Professor Ansley told me all about it." Ansley was her favorite professor and she smiled when she spoke his name. "He told me that the book is no longer there because it had been moved to a safe area. So obviously the curse is no longer on the Tapestry, which is why I'm able to touch it now." As if for emphasize, she twirled three times in a circle inside the Tapestry and covered her face in it before uncovering. "I don't ever want to leave Hogwarts, if I could I would stay forever. But when I leave, I'm going to search for the Book of Mysteria and learn all its secrets. Or at least some of them."
