Looking for a spot to unleash that inner child of yours or perhaps to keep yourself in shape? This is definitely the place to go. Slides, monkey bars, swings, a see-saw, jungle gym, and even a pole with a tether ball attached is in place ready to be played with. You may also take a seat in the sand that surrounds all the equipment and build a castle. Not to worry though, there's minimal risk of injury here as a cushion charm was placed on the ground.
It was never a bad idea to get in touch with your inner child every once in a while, and Esme was only 13.
She had decided to spend some time on the monkey bars. She swung her way across two times before deciding to hang out for a bit - literally. Smiling, she maneuvered herself so that she was sitting on top of the bars. That was much better.
Hooking her feet under one of the bars, she slid the rest of her body through backwards so that the upper part of her body was hanging upside down.
What an interesting way to look at the world.
It was still the beginning of the year, but being in the castle so much was already getting boring. Oliver had yet to explore the grounds anyhow, so he figured now was as good a time as anyway.
Making his way down, he squinted his eyes and saw the playground! That was just what he wanted, he was sure of it now that he saw it.
Running the rest of the way there, he beamed at it for a minute and then walked around to get a good look at all that was there. He was under the impression that he had the whole place to himself to up until he turned a corner and saw a girl hanging upside down from the monkey bars. Interesting.
Ollie walked around so that he was standing in front of her, he wanted to make sure he didn't surprise her and make her slip off and get hurt. No need for any of that. Once in front of her, he smiled and waved. "Hello." He leaned his head to the side so he could kind of see her the right way.

SPOILER!!: Rachel!
It was quite obvious that Hady liked dogs too. It seemed her and this girl had a lot in common in terms of likes. This pleased Rachel but she couldn't help being in awe of her as well. A snake, people, a snake. Wow. "Blimey! That's impressive. I would be afraid of going close to a real one though not as much as I am of spider.'' She shuddered.
Rachel giggled. "I suppose not. Don't go getting lost though. You're too much of a nice person to go missing.'' Yes, it would seem these two had quite a bit in common. "Is there any particular reason you stopped wearing them?'' The eleven year old's face brightened up. "I would love to. Really? There's a spell that can do that? Please show me sometime, Hady.''
Hady couldn't contain her laughter at the way Rachel seemed to be so impressed by the fact that she had a snake. Loads of people had snakes for pets. It wasn't even that dangerous of a pet. At least not in her eyes anyhow. Dragons were way up there on the danger scale however she could actually see herself owning one. Amazing. Is what that would be. "Really? They're really not scary at all. Aime in fact is very sweet and just really enjoys being outside in the grass." Nothing at all scary about him expect for maybe his size. The fifth year didn't comment at all on the mention of spiders though she just may have flinched slightly and quickly cast a look around the area making sure none were around.
Aaww wasn't sure a sweetie! "Well thank you, I like to think I'm a rather nice person." Normally. "Don't worry though I won't go getting myself lost on purpose. Maybe," she laughed giving the younger girl a teasing grin. She'd never really considered why she had stopped wearing flowers in her hair. She just...had. "I'm honestly not really sure. I wouldn't mind starting up again though and of course I'd teach it to you sometime." It might be a bit complicated but she was sure the first year would get used to it quickly enough.

Rachel nodded. "I know but the way they slither...'' She shuddered. "They look so fierce too. But I think they're just misunderstood creatures at times.'' Still, she wasn't sure she would outright go and cuddle a snake. Not like she would with a dog or a cat. "I like the name you chose for it, Hady. It's pretty.''
"Maybe your snake is as nice as you.'' She smiled at the tease but then nodded. "We could go to the Greenhouses someday to find some flowers. That would be so much fun.'' Rachel wish they could do this now but she had to be off again. She needed to go to her dorm to get that doll so she could try finding the owner again.
She gracefully got to her feet after stopping the swing. "I have to go but it was lovely meeting you, Hady. You too, Hagan.'' She stooped to pet the cat before saying to her new friend, "I'll see you around.''
Abby smiled at Hope and said "I am Abby and it is a pleasure to meet you Hope, and don't worry about being a klutz these things happen" Abby shook Hope's hand
"so what year are you? I'm a first year. Oh and its nice to meet you Abby!" she smiled at the girl. She didn't know she'd meet anyone of the playground.
She started walking towards the swings that were now empty. [B]"wanna swing?"]

There was a boy talking to her.
Esme didn't get a good and proper look at his face until he leaned it to the side. She did likewise, and it was as if they were both facing the normal way. "Hello there!" She sent him an upside down wave and wondered how long she could keep this up before the blood began rushing to her head. Only time would tell.

Hady couldn't help it. She smirked at Rachel trying to hold back a laugh. "You're not the first person that's said that to me. My mom didn't like him either for the same reason. He is sweet though." If someone wasn't into snakes though then she wouldn't force it. Really it wasn't a big deal to her. "Thank you. My father told me years ago that it means 'Be loved". I just can't recall in what language."
As Rachel rose to her feet after stopping the swing she smiled. Ah she had something else to do. No worries they would surely meet up again another time. "I like to think he is yes. And we certainly will! I'm sure Professor Myers wouldn't mind it...he might even allow us to grow our own flowers to use." That would be really cool if he did. Then they wouldn't be bothering any of his flowers. Good idea, Hady. Good idea indeed.

"I'm Esme."
Introductions were always nice, right?
Oh she was nice, thank goodness. The last thing he needed was to try to make friends with someone like that other slytherin boy. He was rude and kind of annoying. This girl was nice so far, which he appreciated.
Oliver got down on his knees and waved back. This way, they were almost level to each other, even if she was still upside down (not that he minded). "I'm Oliver, but I have everyone call me Ollie." Although now that he was almost fifteen, he didn't really mind being called Oliver, Ollie was just a habit.
"Your face is kind of pink." He grinned when he said this, figuring it was because of the whole hanging upside down thing. "Also, I like your name." He'd never heard a name like that before and liked that it was different, unlike Oliver.

What a friendly boy.
He was waving to her and everything.
"Nice to meet you too, Oliver. You also have a nice name." It wasn't exactly common - and neither was hers. Her parents apparently had a thing for unusual names, though they also had unusual names, so there you go.
Her face was going pink. Not a surprise because she could feel the blood rush to her head and her neck was starting to bother her from looking at him in this position. "No matter!" With a smile she effortlessly extracted herself from the monkey bars and landed on the ground by his feet.
"Tada!" she said as she adopted a gymnastics stance. That was how they always seemed to end their routines - with their arms held in the air.

She thought he had a nice name? Well now that was a first and he appreciated it very much. Such a nice Esme. Twenty galleons said she was either in Hufflepuff or Slytherin. Puffs were nice and snakes were his people so, yeah. Not that the other two houses weren't nice, but he found those two to be nicer to him.
"Thanks, Esme!" Beam.
When the girl did a sort of flip type thing to get off the monkey bars and landed on her feet, he stood up and applauded her and laughed. "You should be a gymnast!" He was mostly joking, but hey, maybe she already was a gymnast. You could never be too sure.

What a nice boy! Esme gave him a matching smile. She wondered what House he was in but then figured that it was just simpler asking him herself. "Are you in Hufflepuff? Or Slytherin?" Maybe Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, but she wasn't getting those vibes from him.
If he was a Hufflepuff like her that would be so cool.
She giggled as he told her that she should be a gymnast. "You got what I was going for there." It was good that it hadn't gone over his head because she knew that it was all too possible with Purebloods attending Hogwarts. Esme had nothing against them - obviously - but they didn't understand muggle things unless they learned it in class.

Oh perfect, she was asking the question for him. Since...he just hadn't for no good reason. "I'm in Slytherin." Ollie beamed when he said it because he was proud to be in his house, even if he was finding it hard to make friends from there. He'd really have to get on that. "Are you in Slytherin too? I haven't seen you around...but I don't know many people so that could be why." Seriously, the boy needed to hang out in the common room more.
A part of Oliver hoped she wasn't in Slytherin though because he had a feeling most of the snake girls knew about the whole Cordy thing and hated him for it. EVEN THOUGH HE DID NOTHING WRONG.
"Well yeah, it was a little obvious?" Ollie was still smiling when saying this because he didn't mean it in a rude way. He was just kind of confused as to why Esme would think he wouldn't have gotten it. "You're not a gymnast, are you?" Lately it was seeming like every girl he'd met either danced or did gymnastics and both were too like his twin sister for comfort.

Oh. He was in Slytherin. That was a nice House. If she wasn't in Hufflepuff, maybe she'd have been sorted there. She wasn't really BOOKISH, so Ravenclaw wouldn't be a good fit. Gryffindor wouldn't have worked either because she didn't have a reckless bone in her body. "I'm in Hufflepuff, but I could have been in Slytherin too!" She just fit into Hufflepuff better is all. "I'm not sure why I didn't see you around, but we should change that!"
Esme liked Oliver; she thought that he was funny.
As if to prove the point even more, he made her giggle. "Well, not everyone knows about muggle things, so there is a chance that it would have been missed." She gave a big stretch as she spoke. "Does it count if I used to take gymnastics?" Maybe she should get back to it again during the summer. Hmm.
Colt could finally get out of his room and the great hall for that matter. He was a free man. He decided he wanted to go to the playground. As he walked from his dorm, to the outside world he realized it felt nice. It was still fall weather and he didn't mind the cold too much. He breathed it in and made his way to the playground. He heard from his cousins there was one but he didn't have much time last year to check it out. He grinned and saw there was a slide, monkey bars and swings. He beamed like the little kid he still is and went on the monkey bars first. He was the king of the monkey bars.
He walked over and realized it was empty. Sweeettt. He got on and began to do his routine of climbing the monkey bars. He didn't realize how out of shape he was till he fell right on his face...
SMACK!
"Owwwww..." he muttered and looked up. He realized the monkey bars were higher than they looked. "Man I am really out of shape.." he said out loud. He wondered if he had any cuts on his face?
This school was awesome…no wonder Mika had had such adventures – climbing on buildings…you know those kind of things. Mel just hoped that she had MORE fun than her sister and really, she was a Gryffindor. Fun was a given wasn’t it?
She wasn’t really paying attention while investigating the grounds had proven absolutely amazing…and entertaining. Sure there was that kid who – ouch. His face….”hey monkey-bar-guy…” she said as she walked up and stopped where she was standing. Monkeybar-guy had eyebrows. Where they actually caterpillars? She wasn’t sure.
“you have to fall better next time” she nodded and grinned over to him. “here watch this” she added as she excitedly began to climb on the bars and purposefully let go so she landed on her feet. “faces can’t take it,” she nodded. “is your face okay?”

After Colt had his embarassing fall, he noticed he seemed to have an audience when a girl came over. She seemed pretty cute not going to lie. He nodded at her and smiled politely. He raised his eyebrows in amusement at the nickname she gave him. "Monkey bar guy huh?" He chuckled and thought that was soooo original. "Come on you gotta be better than that." He got up and dusted off his hands and checked over his face. Nah nothing too serious that hurts besides his nose.
Wait was she gonna fall on purpose? He scrunched his eyebrows in confusion and watched her. He wasn't going to stop her if she was willing to do it. It would be a waste of breath. He watched and saw her land on her feet. Was she trying to show off? He rolled his eyes, "Yeah I'm a klutz I get it. My uhhh hands just slipped is all.." Really Colt that is your excuse...? Lame. She was concerned about his face. "Yeah it is I think. Does it have any scratches or bruises on it?"

She wasn’t showing off, not really. “Well it’s better than snake-boy” she snorted as she stood there and looked at him for a little while. He didn’t have a bad face…really, it would be a shame if he’d damaged it but it didn’t look like he had. “are all the students here supposed to be attractive?” She asked tipping her head to the side and looking for an awkward amount of time. “I mean…what do they do if they aren’t pretty? Do they ship them off somewhere and charm them to be model-like-people?” She asked again as she considered the business of making students look like gods.
“muggles would probably be a bit curious…we need to right the scales and give students balding potion” she muttered and shrugged. The little thought going through her head was simple and finite. What would Cutty do?
“You’re a clutz? Really? My sister was one…one time she walked into a plate glass door” she nodded and then looked at his face. “No…no bruises but it looks like you squashed two caterpillars when you fell right here” she said as she reached up and touched her own eyebrow…there was no way the barely 1.524 meter tall girl would be able to easily reach his without leaning on him…and that would be painful for him and well for her with everything in her body feeling so sore.

Colt shrugged, "Actually snake boy doesn't sound too bad. Sounds kind of cool and it fits with my house." He didn't have a problem with it. Her question though kind of took him off guard. "Wait...what?" he asked with scrunched eyebrows in confusion. "Where did that come from?" Because that came out of left field. Where was this girl getting at here? "Ermm I have no idea.." He really didn't know where this conversation was going at all. Was she considering him attractive? She must be because she brought it up. Balding potion? He just let her talk and not give his opinion on anything at this moment. He was gonna judge her just yet.
A plate glass door? Well now he felt better. He snorted with laughter and felt better. "Well it could be worse and that sounds like it hurts." He heard her comment and he was intrigued by his comment. "Wait two caterpillars?" he asked confused. He looked on the ground for actual caterpillars till he looked up and noticed the girl pointing to her own eyebrows. Oooohhh he got it now. She thought his eyebrows looked like caterpillars. Well isn't that the strangest comment he ever heard. He felt his eyebrow, his left one had nothing but his right one had a little scrape. It felt tender but nothing serious.
He began to climb onto the slide. "You have an interesting way of thinking you know that.."

”Which is why it is boring” Melbourne simply stated it as if it were a known fact. Having a nickname that FIT too well was just, silly. “even the Professors are attractive” she grumbled a bit more, “I mean imagine if a bunch of muggles just showed up here they’d think it was a convention of beautiful people…not your average wizarding public school” she laughed and then noted the confused look on his face.
“I….uh…wanted to conduct an experiment…are the people here still ‘attractive’ without their hair.” You know maybe it was in the hair – she didn’t know. It could have been something they added to the water.
“I’m just really curious” she added with a grin. “Yeah, it was really fun to see because her hair went all pink afterwards – she’s a metamorphamagus” she nodded at him even thought she was still jealous. “Yes. Right there.” She furrowed her brow when nothing moved on them…wait those were his eyebrows?
She was interesting? No, she had incentive. That was what Cutty had told her. “Thank you…I think…I’m Melbourne” she added emphasizing the ‘burn’ at the end of her name. “Johanson…You can call me Mel if you like,” she added with a smile. “I might have to call you Caterpillar now because of that” she muttered because really she’d remember him like that.

Colt rolled his eyes and shrugged. Eh it fit well for him, he liked it. She mentioned the Professor's were attractive? He didn't find them attractive at all. I mean he didn't meet any of the new female professors yet. Aaahh so she wanted to do an experiment. That made more sense. "Well you could conduct an experiment with this school and my school durmstrang. Some of the girls there were attractive. Also some girls here are too come to think of it.." He thought of out loud. He was noticing she was a unique one at that. He never met one like her before. He heard the term metamorphamagus and he remembered learning that term in Defense Against the Dark Arts back in Durm.
He heard her mention her name. So her name was Mel. Well he was kind of expecting a weird name for her to say. That one sounded too normal. He nodded and said, "I am Colt. Colt Winchester. Nice to meet ya Mel." He held out his hand for a handshake. He couldn't help but handshake with everyone, something he learned from his dad from the military. Caterpillar? "Caterpillar?" he asked with a snort. "Alright I can let it slide." His nickname could be much worse.
"Wanna play on the slide?" he asked walking his way over.
Hmm.
"Yeah?" See? He knew it. "I'm pretty sure I should have been in Hufflepuff because I don't feel very much like a Slytherin." Although he loved his house dearly. "Why do you think you could be a snake?" Because he was curious what she thought about the house qualities and all.
Oliver leaned back against one of the poles of the monkey bars and watched her. He was really happy that this girl was so nice and she was pretty too. Double win!
The boy had never quite thought about gymanstics being a muggle thing. It was just a thing to him. How weird. "Oh...yeah. I guess I just sort of figured it was a muggle and magic thing." Which got him thinking about what magical gymnastics would be like if it even existed. He could see people doing somersaults while charming the ground into water....or y'know, something more Olympic-like. "'course it does," he said, smiling. "That's more gymanstics than I've ever done." He really didn't count those times he would randomly join Timmy's classes as making him a gymnast.

When he commented about her little experiment she just grinned. “What would you do for this experiment?” She asked excitedly. “what was Durmstrang like?” She asked because really the only thing she knew about Durmstrang was well that Mina had gone there a loooooooooooooooong long time ago. Not that long but still it was like five years ago. “oh…did you know a blond girl named Mika Petrovka?” She asked tipping her head at him like a curious little puppy.
Because she was curious, “nice to meet you Colt” she grinned. “maybe Coltapillar could work?” She smirked because why not make a play on his name. “The slide? Sure…you know what would be smart…practicing sticking charms and climbing up the slides so you could get into friends dorms” she admitted with a giant grin.

"Well what I would do is I would compare the attractiveness of the Durmstrang girls and the Hogwarts girls. I mean I would copy down their similarities and their differences in manners, looks and regions and all that." Look at him being scientific. He was an inner nerd. Now she asked what Durmstrang was like. He pondered and said, "Well Durmstrang is kind of strict. I mean we didn't have this much free time. We were solely focused on the Dark Arts which is why I am pretty good at the dueling club.." He didn't mean to brag but it was true. She asked him if he knew a girl. Mika...Mika Petrovka? Nope not ringing any bells. "Nah not really. I don't her. She doesn't sound familiar.." Well he didn't know really know too much of his previous classmates.
"Coltapillar?" He was amused. He chuckled and found it cute. "Alright it might but don't say it to others out loud. They might think it is weird. It will be between us." Dudee that was a great idea! "Man that is an awesome idea! I forgot how to do the sticking charm. Can you remind me?" he asked.

Mel nodded at the idea that of coming up with a list of comparison points…”we should both do this” she nodded, “except I don’t know anyone from Durmstrang to compare to, well, except for you” she shrugged her shoulder and looked at him for a bit longer. “I think we could do this…honestly, if we find out what makes the people in these schools seem attractive you could even market it and sell it to other less-attractive students” she grinned.
SHE WAS GOING TO BE A GALLIONAIRE….you know if that were a thing.
“oooooooh dueling club? I just joined the one here” Mel admitted and beamed at the older student. “Yes. Coltapillar.” She nodded finding the name fitting herself. “No never, and you can call me almost anything…people already call me Melon, Mel of course…Burny, Mel-burn you know among other things” and no she wasn’t going into those other things.
“I’m a first year” Mel snorted. “But…I’m sure we can find a book on it and practice” she grinned.

"Really?" she asked, slightly surprised that he said he should be a Hufflepuff because it was almost as if they should switch Houses, but more that they should be in the same one. Esme giggled. "Well, I'm not really similar to the Ravenclaws or Gryffindors, but I can be pretty ambitious." Honestly not all the Slytherin she met were really like that though. There were a lot of nice once, and Oliver was one of them. "So why do you think you should have been a Badger?" she asked curiously.
This was an interesting conversation and she was enjoying it.
Magical gymnastics? Esme had never thought of it before, but she supposed that would be a pretty cool thing. "Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a Wizarding Olympics?" she asked, going off of his original thought. It would be awesome because they could put a magical spin on the muggle ones! She giggled again at what he said next. "So you can't do the splits or anything?" she teased. "Maybe I can teach you some stuff since I used to take it."

Oliver was very happy when Esme said she had ambition. He was a little worried she would say something like 'I'm secretly evil, MWAHAHA!' because how weird would that be for him to deal with? He wouldn't even be able to act freaked out because what if that annoyed evil Esme and then she attacked him? So not cool. Not cool at all.
"That's cool. I think I'm ambitious but only sometimes. Like I'm not too ambitious with school but...I was when I wanted to be Superman." it was true. Up until last year, Oliver was very keen on becoming Superman. Magical powers were similar to the ones he had anyway, just...different. But after the Cordy thing, he gave up on Superman and stuck with just being Ollie. Not nearly as interesting but it was working for him so far. "I dunno, I'm pretty nice to everyone and I can be smart and I'm loyal and honest." He was trying to think of other puff qualities but they weren't coming to him...maybe that was enough? And the boy was definitely not a Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. Nope. Those were Timmy's things.
Ollie beamed and nodded his head a lot now. "Yes! Wizard Olympics would be so coooool! I was just thinking about that. Think of how much bigger and cooler Olympic quidditch would be???" The World Cup was great but this would be epic. He laughed and shook his head. "Nooooo, too painful. But it would definitely be cool to learn the easy stuff! I went to a few of my sister's classes but mostly played around."
