If you've reached the seventh floor corridor, then you have almost reached the Ravenclaw Common Room... assuming you know where it is.
At the top of a spiral staircase is a door without a doorknob or keyhole but a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. In order to enter the Ravenclaw common room, a person must answer a riddle asked by the eagle knocker; if they answer incorrectly, they must wait for someone else who gets it right. This might lead overconfident non-Ravenclaws to believe that they could break into the common room at any time, but then they would have over-exerted themselves climbing all the way up there only to be made to feel stupid by a simple door knocker.
If you're waiting on a friend, you can have a seat on the staircase leading up to the knob-less door and feel grateful that you don't have to walk all this way every day just to go to bed.

Would it upset him though, if she said no about the homework? Charlotte didn't want to do that, even if she was being all torn about if it was good or bad. The good part was that she would be able to work on dueling things, the bad part was that she had this little niggling thing about if it was fair and right... but if she thought about taking it so that Rooney wouldn't be upset and all his hard work wouldn't be for nothing, that made it feel okay. Thus convinced, she held her hands out for the homework.

Charlotte nodded, trying for nonchalant. Yes. She... knew that, it was just that when he SAID it outright like that it made her ears feel hot and she didn't know what to do with her hands.
"Um..... YES?" She prompted, a little too loudly, quite by accident. Where was he going with this? Oh. He was her friend. Rooney was about to nod and say okay and that he was just glad that it was healing well...when she spoke again. What would he do? Right... So she was clued in that he couldn't do anything to protect her and he was an ultimate wimp. "I... uh... I..." Rooney pushed his hair back and sighed. "I'm sorry, what?" It was true that he didn't know what he would do, given that situation, but the fact that she also knew that was a kick in his gut. And he was so, so very sorry, Miss Charlotte.
At least she knew what was happening with his feelings, anyway.
Roo half smiled at the recognition and then moved on with his thought and talk process. "So... if you know that... why haven't you..." Sigh. "You haven't spoken to me about it..." And he just wanted to know why, and why she couldn't address this whole thing without hurting his feelings a little bit more. "Is it because of Blaise? Do you like him?" And then to uh...get rid of all the awkward, he placed the homework into her hands and picked up his satchel.
"It doesn't matter if it is. I don't mind."

Char said this in her wisest most worldly voice, though it still had the air of someone repeating something she'd heard from older people.... which is exactly what the case was.

Was it normal to begin to feel sick after you had a little outburst like that? Was it also normal to be considering stealing a kiss and then running away? Maybe he really was having a breakdown in relation to girls. Well...one girl. But Miss Charlotte was enough of a hoot to cover a whole group of girls. A gaggle.

OUT OF A RELATIONSHIP?! Excuse me?! "Wh... wh... HUH?!" Had he found out about Wesley already? What about him? Had he died? Was Rooney trying to get a kiss from a WIDOW?! Oh, oh this was all the worst. The worst information. The worst situation. Rooney was going to just melt into a puddle on the stairs and feel awful about this for the rest of his life. "I'msorryforyourloss!" That was what people said in these moments, yeah? He would have offered her a hug, but he thought that her being a 'strong confident woman who don't need no man' meant that hugs were off the cards and so was anything else.

And she had decided she would ignore the fact that Wesley had been relieved about it. Yup. Better that way. Soo... so yeah. She was a single pringle now!
And there wasn't even a TINY GUESS in her mind that THAT would be the favour that Roo wanted.
"NO!" She blurted. And then, "I mean, DON'T kiss anyone else, okay? I mean... you can if you want to.... who WOULD you kiss?" WHO WOULD BECOME HER ENEMY? WHO? THIS was a problem. A BIG problem. "Roo," Oh gosh. Char fanned herself with the stack of homework, "Do you know what rebounds are?"

Was Miss Charlotte okay? He wanted to respond immediately, but she continued to talk and he was just overwhelmed with answers. She didn't want him to kiss anyone else, but he could if he wanted to. And then he needed to know who it would be? And WHAT on earth was a rebound? "Well, the dictionary says that a rebound is to bounce back through the air after hitting something hard.. I'm not sure how it applies here though." Or in any part of this conversation. Was she about to school him on something though? Did he need his notebook?
"I hadn't thought about kissing anyone else, by the way." But now he was probably going to end up analysing everyone he came into contact with for that very reason.
This was her fault.

Boyfriend material? Rooney giggled laughed - LIKE A MAN - and then shrugged a little nonchalant. "I mean, my robes really are made from boyfriend material. Wanna see the tag?" He grinned, q little more glad that this was a good thing, that he was not rebound material and better material than that. So whoever Miss Charlotte kissed next, he knew that he would be better than them. So much better. And that gave him a really nice warmth in his heart and his tummy and maybe in his cheeks. Golly.

"Okay." She went and perched on the step next to him and took a deep breath, then let it out and looked around to make sure nobody was listening in, then she took ANOTHER DEEP BREATH and this time, straight after letting it out, she whispered, "I actually don't know that much about kissing."
Because... he definitely thought she did right? Everyone thought she did, yes? Because of Wesley? Because of having a boyfriend who was older for three whole years? And she LET people think that, because she LIKED people thinking she was very wise and knew all the things already, but actually... not so much.
But also... in an even quieter voice, Char confessed, "I'm not... sure about it yet either. I mean.... I think I like the idea of proper kissing, but I'm not... sure."
Did he understand? It was all kind of scary, and overwhelming, especially because everyone was doing it now apparently and Char REALLY didn't want people thinking she was a baby or behind or anything like that.
... he wasn't going to laugh, right? She tried to look tough instead of anxious and ended up STARING ROONEY DOWN.

"All I know about kissing... is what I've heard older girls talking about." And even then, he had no idea whatsoever about the things they actually spoke about. "But..." Well that....... that happened as quickly as could be and he wasn't too aware of what had happened until well after twenty seconds post-leaving. Hand slowly raised, he waved lazily. "Yeah.. Bye, Miss Charlotte." What a swizz. That girl really did do things to his insides. Sent them into a frenzy. They were a frenzy right now.
And continued to be a frenzy as he stumbled up the steps, through the riddle answer and into his common room.
