SPOILER!!: Elsa! While she was talking about her father and 'mother' she couldn't help but notice how Elsa was looking around the common room. For what she wasn't sure but Hady didn't think anything would randomly jump out at them just then but then again this was Hogwarts and stranger things have happened to her many times before. "Transfiguration isn't an easy lesson at all. It takes a lot of focus and more importantly time and patience. If you're not ready or not sure about the spell it's not going to work," she explained quietly offering her newest friend a small smile. "Trust me with this, you're not the first nor will you be the last first year to have trouble with it." Is that what was getting the kid down? The previous transfiguration lesson? "Don't over that lesson. A lot of third years were having trouble with it. It was a tough spell and putting a bit of yourself into it only meant it was all that much more difficult. Just keep trying and working out you'll get the hang of it." Like with everything else hard work never failed. Laughing softly she had to nod her head at that. "Nope. If I don't want to do something I won't be doing it." Not that this was likely to happen as she was normally very easy-going but it could happen someday. |
SPOILER!!: Haaaady! Elsa pouted a little, but she knew Hady was right, it was just that she wasn't used to failure. Actually, that was not an option in her mother's vocabulary, and she could be really strict and severe when it came to learning. "I guess you're right..." she shrugged "...my mother always made it seem so easy, I guess I was hoping it was indeed easy." No more feeling bad about it. Hady was right, she had to be patient! She smiled widely at Hady's remark. She too didn't like being told what to do, she understood that perfectly. Actually, she remembered when her father told her not to ride her toy-broom when her mother wasn't around and she ended up on top of a tree with a cat she was trying to rescue because she couldn't stay put. She retold that tale to Hady, hoping she would find it as amusing as she did now. She laughed, suddenly remembering something and looked around again before speaking "Have you ever seen the snakes?" she asked, out of the blue "my friend Azura, she's a Ravenclaw, says there should be snakes roaming around our common room but I haven't seen any yet. Is that true?". She did hear a light hiss from time to time, but that could be her imagination. |
SPOILER!!: Elsa! "Maybe transfiguration was just her thing. I bet there's other things that come naturally to you." Nothing to get upset over. Like she herself was really good with charm work. Somethings just took a bit more time. Hady couldn't help but laugh at this story. Running off and doing your own thing was always fun but then there were times where things like getting stuck up in a tree happened. Did you learn from it? Probably not. Snakes? They were Slytherins after all so snake things were everywhere but she knew that wasn't what Elsa meant. Roaming around the common room though? No. No she hadn't nor had she heard of this. "We do have A snake. Just one. He's a house pet and remains in his tank though," Hady replied with a small laugh. She didn't think their Head of House would allow snakes to roam about freely in the common room. Not that Hady would mind it she loved the animals. |
Liiisa <33 This couch was his. His long legs were stretched out across it so no one else could join him. He had his pet fruit bat for protection, and he had himself for when she needed protecting. His couch, and his view of the lake. Was he napping? No. Bastien didn't take naps, but he was watching the merepeople interact in the depths of the lake. His common room was the coolest. |

Like. A lot. And she was trying very hard not to be. Because it was unhealthy. Her usual breathing exercises hadn't helped her though. Why did she care about her OWLs all of a sudden?!?! She'd been doing well ignoring them so far. Now they were approaching so rapidly though and she felt like she didn't know anything. Which, to be fair, was probably...one hundred percent true. Coming down from her dorm Maggie quickly moved over to stand right in front of the couch with her back towards Bastien, completely unaware of the fact that he was even there. She took a couple of deep breaths and stared up at the lake. The colors were oddly calming. Sort of. A little. |
Sorry it took me so long! SPOILER!!: Hady! "You're probably right" she said with a shrug. She stretched her legs in front of her, careful not to kick Hady. "Thank you for being nice to me Hady, it means a lot. I don't really have many friends, just a handful and sometimes times passes by really slowly in this common room" she glanced at the windows "even though I bet we have the coolest view in the castle" she squinted her eyes trying to distinguish some shadows in the distance of the lake's waters. "By the way have your heard about the dolls that have been popping around the castle?" she asked with a shiver. Azura had told her about some creepy looking dolls that supposedly have been appearing around the castle, scaring the wits out of everyone. |
SPOILER!!: Elsa! Running her fingers through Hagan's fur she lifted her hazel eyes onto Elsa once again. "Don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time." Plus if she ever had any questions about anything she had an entire house of snakes that would always be there to answer them for her. Aaww what a sweetie this girl was! "I'm nice to everyone and that's what house mates do. We make one another feel welcome, don't feel like you have to keep to yourself. Get out there and join in no one will push you away." Slytherin's were more welcoming then most would think. "Oh, we do. No other house gets to see the lake like we do." They easily had the best common room of them all! Plus the green and silver couldn't be beat! Dolls? Yeah she had heard of them but she had yet to see it. Didn't want to see it either. "Yeah but so far I have yet to see one. I'd rather not have to see it either, creepy thing can keep to itself." |
SPOILER!!: Hady :3 Elsa gaze wondered to Hady’s fingers, petting Hagan, and smiled. She missed her "pack of stray cats", the ones that drove her mother crazy every time it was dinner time and they gathered by the kitchen door meowing the songs of their people until Elsa came out to feed them dry food she had specially bought for them. Yep. Cat lady. Hady was nice and she felt a little bit more confident in her transfiguration skills and had a certain that if help was needed she could find it amongst her house fellows. Her smile spread wider. “Sometimes I just don’t want to bother people. I tend to be over affectionate, talk to much and most times I don’t know when to stop” she shrugged embarrassed “but thank you! Means a lot you saying that” She looked out to the lake again. Again, best view e-v-e-r. Her mother was completely right, she wouldn’t trade her house for anything. A shiver went up her spine thinking about the dolls. She hadn’t seen it either and the concept of creepy dolls traveling the corridors wasn’t one she was comfortable with so she quickly agreed with Hady “But what’s that about? I mean, is it normal to strange things like that happening here?” she scratched her nose “ my mum never talked to me about any strange things that happened when she was here...” but now that she thought about it, her uncles did try and scare her with a few tales the last time she met them, but her mother pushed them outside, claiming they were only trying to have a laugh. Maybe they were telling real stories! Intriguing... |
SPOILER!!: spoiler Overly affectionate? This got a small laugh out of Hady and she nodded her full understanding. "I used to get that way myself. A lot of the times around here you bugging someone will be the break from studying they need." Especially those fifth and seventh years that are doing nothing but preparing for their tests now. Herself included. Catching Else look out at the lake Hady swung her gaze that way too. "Have you seen the mermaids yet or the giant squid?" Most of the first years wanted to see those, right? Strange? Yes. Creepy? Yes. Down right incredibly horrible and totally wrong things? Yes. Yes. And yes. So many things happened around here the good and bad. "Uh that would depend on what your version of strange is but lots of things take place around here. Some really freaky and unexplainable while others are scary. It's really just the normal around here." Hopefully she wasn't scaring the younger girl but there was no sense in lying to her about any of it. |

"Hey Maggie." He considered getting up, but thought better of it. His protection, Gwenog, was sleeping, and he didn't want to disturb her just because he didn't like naps. |
SPOILER!!: Hady Elsa thought about Hady's question for a moment, still squinting her eyes to try and distinguish something in the lake, but gave up with a sigh "I think I saw a mermaid the other day, near those plants there" she pointed with her finger "but it was so fast I can't be sure." She thought back to the muggle stories about a mermaid her father had told her. What she saw didn't resemble a fair princess. It looked somewhat feral. "Are they humans that resemble fish with a scowl on their faces?" she asked, trying to describe what she thought she had seen "if they are, that's totally what I saw". SO COOL. She felt another shiver shot up her spine. She shouldn't like the notion that strange or scary things were common to happen at Hogwarts, but it made her wary and excited at the same time. Her eyes became wider and rounder with contained excitement and a trace of fear"That sounds... promising" she said, lacking a better word. She could understand that not all things were necessarily bad, just.. weird. |
SPOILER!!: Elsa The younger girls description of the mermaids made her laugh and she nearly toppled over off her beanbag. It shouldn't have been all that funny really but just the way ir was said and the fact that it was true made it worse. "Y-yeah," she nodded still laughing. "They're not exactly the nicest either from what I hear." They were cool to watch but not something/someone she would want to be in the water with. As she spoke to Elsa she watched the girls face to see how she reacted. Really she hadn't told her anything scary so when her fellow snake didn't seem at all fazed she wasn't surprised. "Just stay on your toes and if something really doesn't feel right, chances are it's not." Some sound advice right there. |
SPOILER!!: Hady! Elsa chuckled a little hard when Hady nearly fell over her beanbag “They did not look welcoming at all like on those Muggle stories” she nodded “You know which ones I’m talking about right? Red hair female mermaid with shells for a bra and a big fishtail for legs, falls in love with prince, brushes her hair with a fork..?” now that she thought about it, those movies were reeeeeeeally old. Like ancient. Plus she had a Muggle dad, Hady didn’t. So the chances she had watched those were near to zero. Again, Elsa nodded at her advise “Yes. I must certainly will.” She yawned and stretched her arms above her head. “I’m getting a little drowsy call it a night? Maybe we can hang out again tomorrow. I could try and help you with your studies. Or we could just study together” her smile was hopeful as she talked. She gathered her things in her hand and stretched her arm to Hagan, allowing him to smell her fingers before scratching his chin. |
SPOILER!!: Elsa! Clearly her almost toppling off her seat was funny! It was. Very much so. In fact so much so that when Elsa joined her in laughter it only made it harder for Hady to stop. Eventually though after several deep breaths the girl feel calm once again and was able to listen to what was being said to her. Muggle stories? About a red-haired mermaid. Hady grinned nodding her head. "The Little Mermaid. Her name is Ariel," she replied simply. She knew the story as well as the movie and many many others. Seeing the firstie yawning and stretching made Hady realize just how late it actually was getting. Calling it a night did sound like a nice idea. "Sure thing. You can study with me anytime." The more the merrier really just so some sort of studying was being done then she wouldn't mind one bit. Hagan seemed content with the chin scratching and leaned himself towards Elsa. "See you tomorrow then." It was time for a good nights rest. |
Cornelius! Hugo was sitting in the common room, perfectly comfortable in a couch staring at the fire and feeling sleepy. On one hand he had his books of spells, he had been reading about non-verbals and was trying to practice them but right now he was not feeling like doing it, so instead he took out from his robes a bag of sour gummy worms and started eating it. Good thing about having a friend who sold candy he could have his gummy worms everyday. Thanks Dante. He flipped through the book, just stopping to look at the pictures. |

Life was hard when life got hard. Cornelius dragged himself to the common room, along with his poor satchel that would need repairing if he kept doing that. He was probably coming down from his sugar high, which was always awful for the eleven year old because it made him feel sleepy and tired. He didn't like feeling either of those. He liked feeling all high and mighty that he could take on the world. Maybe he should lay off the sweets... HAHAHAHAHA. His mind was SUCH a comedian. That would NEVER EVER happen. Sugar was his happy sustenance. He wasn't usually this tired and the side of his mouth never hurt, except lately it has been bugging him. Cornelius knew what it was that bothered him and was denying it full strength. M'HM. He was a MACHO MAN and should be proud of his accomplishment but... FLOP went Cornelius on the couch next to an older lad he'd grown to look up to. SIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH, HUGO. SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH. |
He's so cute <33 Quote:
His thoughts were interrupted when he saw Cornelius entering the room, he looked tired and probably was going straight to his dorm but nope, he sat next to him. "What's up Cornelius?" Hugo didn't mind having company and besides he liked this kid. |
Quote:
Leh GASP. "I won my first-ever-real-magic duel today," he shared. Although for a winner he didn't sound so upbeat. Don't get him wrong, he was heck-a proud of himself. He had won fair and square and nobody could take that win from him, it was his. But the result had been a little downer. Maybe Hugo would have some advice if he asked. |
Quote:
He was starting to think he should change his greeting..... Yeah...no. Not going to happen. Oh well. He looked up at the ceiling very briefly and then back at Cornelius. "You did? That's brilliant! Congratulations" he patted the boy on the back "How was it? Were you nervous? Who was your opponent?" All VERY important questions. |
Quote:
Maybe Hugo, being the best Prefect and all, could help him with his homework. Cornelius would even be nice enough to lend him the new quill he got on Christmas...so Hugo could write with it...on his homework and hand it back when it was done. He'd make sure to slip this in later. ;) An effortless smile crossed the boy's face, his deep little dimples showing off. "Thanks! It was SO COOL like--I felt on top of the world and then..." his face fell a little, he sighed, "and then Azura--the girl I dueled--got upset. I think I hurt her feelings." Although he hadn't meant to, and it was still bugging him. |
Quote:
He grabbed another sour gummy from the bag and listened to Cornelius, "You want one?" offered. He considered for a few seconds, "Did you asked her after the duel?" asked "Well, it was her first duel so...I guess she could have felt a bit...I don't know...scared?" Hugo had been nervous but wasn't going to say that, right? And also, it was perfectly reasonable since he dueled Thornton, but Cornelius had to believe the Slytherin prefect had no fear. Mhm. He still wondered if the Ravenclaw prefect let him win easily and that's why he couldn't acknowledge his winning as something great. "Don't feel bad though. You have to get better for your next duel" he could help him. |
Quote:
Sour gummy worms. D R O O L. How had he not seen them? With a happy nod the boy reached in a took one, and wiggled it in front of his face, a small smirk on his mouth. He was going to eat you. Ruuun while you still can. AHAHAHAHA. Worms don't have legs! Ahem. Cornelius side-eyed Hugo. "Um, no. She sorta left in a hurry and I didn't want her to think I was stalking her." Y'know, the way some girls did. Just 'cause a dude thought they were pretty and stared a second longer than they should they suddenly went all, 'HE'S STALKING ME, HAAALP' and then tell their daddies and said daddies got all up in yo' face. Pffft. Sorry for thinking she's pretty, she's a troll, happy? He'll ask Hugo about girls later, too. He seemed like a cool and clever lad. "Should I look for her and ask?" Was it too late? "Scared? Guess I didn't consider that, but you should have seen her. She almost cut my head off starting the duel right away." An exaggeration, but that's how it had felt at the moment. Cornelius had feared he'd become the next Sir Nicholas Jr. "I DO have to get better. I think I could have done better but then she got upset and that threw me off my game. How'd you do? Did you kick bum like, really really hard?" Cornelius didn't expect any less from Hugo. He's seen his cousin Kennedy duel and he was the former, former, long-time-ago-former Slytherin Prefect, and so was his cousin Beverly. They ALLLLL had to be great, yeah? Yeah. And Hugo was already great in his standards. |
Anyone ? Elsa returned to the common room after another exhausting day at Hogwarts. Who would have guessed learning was such a draining activity ? She quickly slumped down on one of the couches, stretching her legs and covering her eyes with her arm with a deep sigh of contentment. If only she could do her homework horizontally.. |
