The corridor just off the Grand Staircase leads to the Room of Requirement (should you know where it is); the Divination Tower; the Astronomy tower; the Gryffindor Common Room; and the Ravenclaw Common Room.
It has large windows that offer sweeping views of the Quad outside. If you'll look close enough at one of the windowsills, you'll note a little 80-year-old etching that says RIP FW.

Had Brady just heard her correctly? "You're a Gryffindor?" Now this was where the Scottish boy drew the line for most Gryffindor's. "Did you participate in the food fight?" There was the most important question of all. He didn't want to be friends with someone that threw food around for the heck of it.
"Did you say what you play?" Brady had met a few other people earlier in the day that had mentioned they play music as well but it was always piano. He knew how to play the piano too and there was nothing wrong with that was still, couldn't people just branch out a little?
Arista nodded it still sounded good, "Do you write your own songs?" She had tried once upon a blue moon and discovered she was terrible at lyrics, it was only at the egging on of her mum that she even attempted it. She didn't like writing as much as she enjoyed playing so it wasn't a surprise when she soon found herself putting the quill down.
She smiled proudly "Yes I am." Proud to be a lion no matter what happened a few nights ago. Gasping in shock like the dramatic princess she was, "NO I did not! I have you know someone ruined my robes with gravy being thrown at me. And then I lost points for apparently having a tone! Which I did not!" It wasn't her fault that Flamsteed's vein was popping out and she felt the need to comment on it. It was a scary look that thing was. "You're still going to be my friend right?" Just because she was a Gryffindor didn't mean anything.
"No I didn't." The redhead responded back to Brady. Realizing that was a cue for her to mention what she played she said "I can play several instruments but my favorite is the piano." She smiled, it seemed lots of people played the piano but it was still a favorite.
Abby looked at Linc and said "I think i have a map in my bag i made several during the holidays in case anybody got lost" Abby looked through her bag and found a map and handed it over to Linc "There you go hopefully you will be able to find your way about the castle now"
Lincoln's eyes got wide with excitement as he watched Abby go through her bag in search for the map. That would be sooooooooooooo awesoooooome! Linc called out, he laughed when he heard his voice bounce off the corridor walls.
Thank you so much Abby! Lincoln took the map from her and then jumped on her, giving her a hug. You're the best!

"all my shoes have mysteriously disappeared.
I suspect nargles are behind it."
Azura slowly nodded her head.. "I don't know why I haven't asked.. I guess I always assumed they would tell me if they knew.. But I'm totally going to ask now! She said with a decisive nod of her head! She could be part fairy!! Oh my goodness!! That would be so awesome!! A Fairy Princess!!
Literally!
She made a mental note to write home to her mother as soon as possible.
"Mmm, back to the tower.. I just had to stop and catch my breath before my lungs decided to burn up! She said with a smile and a nod.
"I should visit my owl Snowy sometime.." She said before backing up ever so slightly at the jar of beetles! "I'm sure he will love them! She said with a smile.
"You could always come with. Visit Snowy now," Haddie offered. I mean it was pretty much the same distance to the Owlery as it was the Ravenclaw tower. So it made some sense. "Then you can meet Wimple! And I can meet Snowy!"

"I would love to come with you actually, that sounds like fun, I would like to meet your owl! Azura said with a warm smile..

"No but my aunts and uncles have told me that I should learn how to write my own stuff." Brady didn't really know how he felt about writing his own stuff though. It would probably take a lot of time and a lot of practice.
"I haven't really met that many Gryffindors but I know they started the food fight." Brady felt it was wrong to throw food because food was meant to be eaten and not thrown at people for fun. How could that even be fun? "You...don't seem like you would have a tone." Bradson looked at her, maybe a little hot headed like himself but no tone. He, himself had a tone and he made it known. "I'll still be your friend."
"I play piano, drums, harmonica, banjo, guitar and bass guitar." He wanted to learn more but he didn't know what he wanted to learn next. "What kind of music do you play?"

Arista nodded and said "It's hard writing your own stuff you have to come up with the melody, tune, rhythm, notes, lyrics if you need them. And oi my mum once tried to get me to write my own music but I ended up throwing a basket of socks at her and yelling I'm a free elf..And dashing away from my piano." She laughed as she recalled her mum's furious face.
"Yeah it was some kid named Blaise and B...Bentley, maybe? I'm not sure I just know that I haven't talked to those two." Arista liked trouble but she hated trouble when you got caught and plus the food fight had not been as fun afterward as it had been during. "OH MY GOSH! I know right!! Ugh Professor Flamsteed was just taking his anger out on me.." She nodded yeah that was it. "Yay!" She loved friends.
"You could totally have a single man band." She chuckled remembering that man in Paris who was playing five different instruments at once. "I wish I could play any of those. I play the piano, flute, violin, bass, cello, and when I went to the violin." She dabbled in a few others but they weren't worth mentioning. "Any really I love playing music that you get lost into that at one point you're not even reading the music anymore your fingers just know exactly what to do and you can close your eyes and your transported to another place." She gave a small smile and then asked "What about you?

Haddie waved her wrist. "Don't worry about it. It's cool. Come on." Spinning on her heels, she started off toward the Owlery, waiting briefly for Azura to follow. "Yeah, Wimple is great! He's sooo expressive, it's hilarious! What's Snowy like? Maybe Wimple and Snowy will be friends and hang out when we're not with them."

Ohh hey look.. Haddie was running!
Azura couldn't do the running thing, she really didn't want to fall on her face in front of her new friend, so she took it a bit more moderate pace, and managing to keep her balance as she followed her up towards the Owlery.
She grinned as her fellow first year talked about her owl. "Snowy is, well he is quiet, but affectionate! I fell in love with him the first moment I saw him, and he seemed to like me as well. He's been a good friend." Her reply was thoughtful as she looked at the other girl.
"That would be super cool! Were owl's friends? Ehh.. It would be cool if they were though!

"My uncle Casper says that I might be too young to be able to write music yet. he says I should just stick to what I like playing right now before I get into what I want to write on my own." The first year thought his uncle was right and his uncles Jett and Julian had told him the same thing too.
Bradson shook his head. "I don't know who they are." The first year shrugged, he was pretty sure he might not want to meet them. "I haven't really formally met Professor Flamsteed yet. I was in his Astronomy class though, I suppose he a good professor but I'll have to go to some other classes to see what I really think about it." He seemed like an alright guy, a little weird but alright.
"But I don't think single man bands seem to be as fun, ya know?" Did she know? Would he have to try to explain it to her? Why would he have to explain it to her? She was older than him so he should know...or at least be able to figure out what he means. "So you play the fancy, snobby instruments? No offense." He always saw those instruments for the fancy rich people. The people that he really didn't like. "I'm really into classic rock and some of the hair bands. So basically bands like The Beatles, The Doors, Lynard Skynard, Twisted Sister, Poison. Those kinds of bands." Brady nodded with a big grin.

So, Gryffindor won. And Ravenclaw finished in third place, below Slytherin.
It was all that stupid boy's fault. But Katherine would enjoy telling him no. Clearly he was one of those toxic Slytherins who were used to hearing 'yes'. She wasn't the type to pick fights at all, but when someone CLEARLY had a problem with her, it had to be addressed. Therefore, upon leaving the class, she didn't hurry but took it slooooooooooowly to see if he had anything to say to her.

Ugh. Gryffindor.
Olly was a very competitive person, and he did not like to lose. But if it had to be anyone at least it was Gryffindor. That was Ellery's house so he would accept their win. And at least Slytherin was in second place. He had gathered up his things quickly, not that he had taken anything out of his bag in the first place, and left the classroom. He also took with him his blanket. As well as a second one that he'd seen lying along on the ground near a desk. If no one else wanted it there was no harm in Olly taking it.
As soon as he'd gotten out of the classroom, he fell into step behind a girl. Only to find that she was possibly the slowest moving person in all of Hogwarts. What was her problem? He tried to be polite and just go around, but ended up accidentally running into her. His blankets fell out of his hands, and his bag fell to the ground as well. Great.
"Sorry," he mumbled as he bent down to pick up his stuff. Even though it was kind of her fault for walking so slow in the first place.

She turned to his apology, and guess who!
She huffed, put her hands on her waist and coolly asked "What's your problem with me?" Spill the beans and get ready to be rejected, jerk.
Luckily Olly was only twelve. Which meant he was not very tall. Which meant his bag did not fall too far to the ground. Which meant only his Astronomy book slid out. It was easy enough to stuff it back in and grab both of his blankets. Those stayed in his arms though, because they were too big to fit in his bag.
Um, what? Olly stood up and started at the girl. "What's your problem?" Not the most mature response, but it was all he could think. "I don't even know you!" Wait, now that he actually got a good look at her, he did recognize her. He didn't really mean to, but he smiled.
"Are you mad because I kept stealing those balls from you? In case you forgot, it was a competition. I was trying to win." Not that it had worked, but anyway. There were no friends in competitions.
"Hah!" Katherine couldn't believe it! But - but, this was a game, of course. Another silly way of flirting on his side. She knew aaaaaaaaaaaall these tricks, yes she did (no she didn't, she was only eleven, BUT HER MUM DID AND SHE'D TAUGHT HER DAUGHTER WELL)! And she fell for none!
"Competition!?" she exclaimed, and snorted BIG TIME. "You mean, a competition to draw my attention? I know your type -" she was basically reprimanding him at this time and looked not like an eleven year old girl but much older, "and I am not interested!" Was that clear enough?!
not throwing away my shot | Slytherpuff | roll for initiative | woof you ❤
What? Um, what? Why did this keep happening to him? First Charlotte Kettleburn and now this girl. Why did they keep thinking he was trying to flirt with them or wanted to date them or whatever? It was not true. Internally, Olly was screaming. Continuously. But externally he just blinked, staring at the girl trying to figure out why this was happening to him. He was a good person. He didn't deserve this.
"No." That wasn't exactly what he had been planning to say, but it was all he could manage at the moment. "No, I-what? No. Why?" Perfect, he was definitely making sense. But it was hard to make sense when he had no idea what was going on.
"You're not my type either." There. That made sense. Whether or not it was true he didn't actually know (because he was only twelve for merlin's sake) but it seemed like a good thing to say.
Katherine rolled her eyes yet again. Was this boy real? Was he really asking for why? As for his answer, she would have laughed had she not been so angry. She was SO mad that she couldn't speak for a moment, and this was only the second time she was having such a moment!
"Because you'd followed me for the whole class?" she retorted, "stay away from me. I don't want your interest ever." Okay? Okay.
not throwing away my shot | Slytherpuff | roll for initiative | woof you ❤
"I did not," Olly protested. "I just happened to be near you, like twice. Twice." It was pretty clear that no matter what he said she would not believe him anyway. Why did it even matter so much? He wasn't even bothering her. Why would it even matter if he did have a crush on her? He definitely did not, but why did it matter? Huh? She seemed very irrationally angry about it.
"Okay," he called after her as she began to walk away. Hopefully faster this time. "That won't be hard, I'm not interested in you anyway." Wait, she was a Ravenclaw, wasn't she? What was it with that house? Why did they all hate him? When he hadn't even done anything?
Maybe he had been near her only twice, that still didn't change the fact that he had followed her. No, she was sure he had a crush on her! But she had already made her point, so the next time he tried to be funny, she was getting a professor.
It was cold outside, the stinging red cheeks of one Genny Tate grew even redder when her feet finally made it to the seventh floor. The moving staircases played an annoying little game with her where they wouldn't STOP for her. Finally they did, and now she dragged her feet across the stony floor with the backpack behind her. Visiting an owl was so boring, she was bringing another pet next year whether her dad liked it or not. Hmph.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

Torrance was headed along the Corridor. Just coming out of the Gryffinodor Tower. He had no plan of action yet, but surely (...this was Hogwarts after all...) there would be something to peek his interest and cause a spontaneous adventure to partake in.
As he hurried down the corridor someone passed him by. No taller than he was, and her cheek were as red as um Fruit Punch. Fruit Punch was great by the way!? Though he was NEVER allowed to have it since you usually got him bouncing off the walls. Even so, that was Genny Tate! He met her cousin recently. He was pretty cool too. The Tates were pretty dang cool that they were!! Maybe an adventure followed Genny!
So he turned and started following behind her a big smile on his Face.

Genny was raised up to be vigilant. And vigilant she was. Torry received a nod from her when he passed by her but now that he was behind her, she frowned her eyes and picked up the pace of her steps. He was headed in the opposite direction so WHY did he suddenly start following her? Even now that she was briskly walking down the corridor, the sound of his feet accompanied the sound of hers.
... "Why are you following me?" She spun around, her long pigtails probably hitting him in the face if he was as close to her as she thought he was.

He got hit in the face with pig tails as she spun around catching up to her.
He spat just a bit away from her to get any loose hairs that escaped from her scalp to his mouth. Gross gross. He picked at his tongue with his fingers as there was still one just lingering there and flicked it off to the side.
Wiping his hands on his pants. Tory smiled. "You looked like you were on a Mission. I'm bored so I thought I'd tag along." Yup, and if she said no he was still going to follow here because what else was there to do right now anyways?

Genny instinctively patted down her super CLEAN and shampoo-smelling pigtails when he seemed to be cleansing himself from the traces of that slap. She didn't mean it, and she would apologize if he wasn't getting rid of her hairs with an unpleasant expression.
Adventure? Huh. She liked the sound of that. "I was just going to the common room, but I can do an adventure for you." That could make up for the boring owl visitage she just had to endure. "We can walk side by side this time and look for one together." With the backpack hung on her back she returned his grin.
Do be careful, it appears that the seventh floor corridors floors have been... Over-waxed, perhaps? Tread carefully, lest you slip and break your remembrall...

The downside of living up in one of the towers was everyday having to trudge up all or most of the stairs of one staircase or another to get back up to the dorms. Today was no different. Olivia had made her way up to the final landing, thankfully her bookbag not as heavy as it could get some days. She was grateful to be so close and simply headed off towards the Ravenclaw Common Room, the first year unaware of anything special done to the floor of the corridor that greeted her on the way from stair to tower.
However her school shoes could be slippery at times and just now more than once she nearly slipped but managed to catch herself. But in the end the third time was not the charm for her as suddenly her two feet came out from under her and she landed with a thud on her skirted backside. Her bag hitting the floor and slipping along a few feet away with some of the items coming loose.
