Default Office of Professor Newton

Thank you Stefan

You’re more likely to meet Professor Newton inside the Student Lab, experimenting on his own lab bench, set up in the front. But if you wish to speak to him within his office, you need only knock on his door. He might be in there, he might not, but whilst you wait, just take a seat and read one of his magazines, both on muggle and magical subjects.

OOC: Please follow the link above to the Waiting Room, post your character knocking at the door, and we will reply ASAP. It make things easier for me to follow this way.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

The first thing that Yoongi had noticed when the door had opened was that this new Professor stuttered. Was he just nervous or did he suffer from stuttering? Instead of asking this though as he figured it would be incredibly rude for him to do so, Yoongi smiled instead which broadened when the man mentioned he had been a Gryffindor as well.

"I'd love a cup of tea" he said as he entered the office. He immediately looked around. He had never been in the office of the previous potions professor so he couldn't tell if it looked much different. "I uh.... i wanted to say welcome to Hogwarts" he said as he still looked around before he looked at the Professor again. "And" he sighed heavily, running a hand through his grey/silver dyed hair. "Also wanted to apologize about the start of term feast. That was probably not the kind of welcome you new Professors had wanted" He hadn't done anything except try to stop them but he felt that, as the Head Boy now, that the responsibility was part on his shoulder as well. "Is this your first time teaching, Professor....?" He suddenly stared at him. "I'm sorry i don't know your name, sir"

Austin walked into the room, and admired the decor. For someone who could admire a good potion, he felt that the decoration was a sight to behold. "I love what you've done with the place, professor." His eyes glazed over various potion ingredients as well as potions themselves. He was like a kid in a candy shop, and hoped to have a collection this grand.

When they were both in the room, he decided it was time to introduce himself. "I'm Austin. Uh, Austin Moore. I created a potion a few years back." Not bragging or anything, he just felt the need to put that in whenever he could. He was proud of his potion, and even more proud that it worked. "Anyways, I just wanted to come in and chat about potions, if you weren't busy. I have a few muggle notebooks for notes and recipes, but they can only take me so far." Aaaaand... he was rambling. Something that tended to happen when he got nervous. Hopefully the new professor wouldn't notice.

That the young man had agreed to have a cup of tea spoke wonders. He went to his little cupboard and pulled out another mug, fixed the tea strainer on top, and poured a cup of tea. "Milk? Sugar? Honey?" he asked.

Art let the young man finish saying everything he had wanted to say, before realising he should probably introduce himself. "Art. Arthur. Well, er.. I suppose Professor Newton, actually. It's my first time teaching Potions, but I-I used to-to teach Chemistry at a muggle school." He scratched his face, just above the eyebrow. "Thank you for coming to welcome... uh... welcome me, that's uhhh v-very nice." He nodded and stretched a smile across his face.

The feast had been a debacle, but not necessarily because of the shenanigans that had happened with the food, and the throwing, and the mess, and the Professor's reactions. The old hag. She had done it for him. His lungs were still recovering from that wretched spray she had sprayed. He shook his head and let out a chuckle. "I... I don't think you need another person to-to-to uhh... to tell you off. Any of you. Not you, just... the general sense of the term you." Uhhh... right, focus. "I think Professor Flamsteed has-has spoken to you all? It... well," he chuckled again, "It wasn't your doing." Besides, it was surely something he would have found himself doing when he was a young lad at school, so he couldn't very well be mad at the young Gryffindors for doing it.

"OOH and... and your name?" he asked. He knew he was the Head Boy, member of Gryffindor.

And the young man who had arrived, or at least been sitting with Paul Myers, had come in at last. His compliment got a big grin from Art, as he looked around, his hands on his hips. Yep. "Thank you," he said, with a nod.

"Austin Moore, it's-it's nice to meet you." Art raised his eyebrows in pleasant surprise, and rubbed at his chin. "You DID? Well how marvellous. What potion was it?" he asked. Of course he was interested in learning that other people had created their own potions. "Oh no, no not at all. Take a seat," he said, motioning to his desk. He always had time to talk about potions. Art went around the other side of the table, his side, and sat down. "Do you have them with you?" he was curious.

Austin sat down eagerly. He didn't get many chances these days to talk potions. And to talk with the new potions teacher, just boosted his spirits even more. And he wanted to know about what potion he made? This was chalking up to be a really great day. "Well, it's called the 'Dreamless Sleep' potion. I mainly made it to help with Nightmares. It's supposed to remove them, so one could get a good night's rest. The only downside is that it also takes away dreams." He originally made it to help with the nightmares that followed after his mother's death.

"I never leave the common room without them."Reaching into his messenger bag, that was still slung around his shoulder, he pulled out two notebooks. One had every page filled out with recipes from his first three years. It had everything from the Trust Me potion from his first year to his Dreamless Sleep potion. But no pages had been ripped out. Austin knew better. Important information could have been on a thrown away page, and he wasn't about to lose anything. The second book was similar to the other, but was a lot newer. He had rewritten the recipe for his own potion in the front, but it included spells from last year.

"I ran out of room in my first book, so I had to get a second one." He placed them both on the desk. "I think the most interesting thing I've encountered is in the Mutatio Animalia." A potion that had turned him into a wolf last term. "After adding the boomslang skin, and stirring one has to wait. Which is normal. But a copper takes longer to wait than a Pewter one. Which is strange because normally it's the other way around." Curiouser and Curiouser.

"OOH and... and your name?" he asked. He knew he was the Head Boy, member of Gryffindor.
Yoongi waited and watched as the Professor pulled out another mug and began making the tea. Out of all the hot beverages, tea was probably his favourite. “Oh, nothing Sir. I don’t like sugar very much” he usually gave away his candy as well. He was probably the only teenager in the world who did that….

When he thanked him for welcoming him, the Head Boy waved his hand. “It’s no problem, Professor Newton” he said. So far, the Professor seemed okay , maybe he could ask his question. But first he was distracted by the fact that this would be his first time teaching Potions. “It is?” he asked with a surprised tone before he frowned. “Wait, Chemistry….why do I know that…” He thought, trying to remember why it sounded so familiar. And then it hit him. “Muggle magic fire!” he suddenly shouted, probably scaring the man but hopefully not. “Sorry, I mean, I had a conversation with the Defence against the dark arts Professor last year about Chemistry ….” He frowned again as he thought , biting his lower lip as he tried to remember. “Oh! Something about shyentist or something… Were you a shyentist at school?” he asked, mispronouncing the word scientist.

“Since you worked in a muggle school, does that mean you’re muggle born as well Sir?” he asked curiously. Or was he just fascinated by muggles?

As the topic of the feast began, Yoongi sighed loudly and nodded his head. He got the general sense of the term comment. “He has, the Professor kept us Prefects up later than anyone else” Apparently he had been accused of threatening Blaise with a wand. Which was not true. “And we had a meeting in the morning again but then with the whole House” he thought it had went well.

“My name?” Yoongi repeated. “Oh right! I’m Yoongi Hyland, nice to meet you Sir” he beamed. “If it’s no trouble, I was wondering if I could ask a question about Potions?....well it's more a request actually...”

Dreamless sleep Potion! Art raised his eyebrows, leaning in a little more. He listened to Austin explain the potion, "That sounds like quite an accomplishment," he said, very impressed. "H-how long did it take you to-to uhh to complete it?" Creating potions was up there on Art's list of favourite things to do.

Art was secondly impressed with the notebooks Austin pulled out. Full of everything related to Potions. Art picked up the first one, the one which had been full of notes, and carefully flipped through it. He didn't read it, because it could have been personal to this young man, but he enjoyed looking at each page, full of writing, and all about Potions. He set it back down. "They're very good. I always find a notebook to-to write notes in is very handy." Art did it sometimes too! It was key to remembering things.

"Mutatio Animalia, I've-I've never made that one before." He listened to Austin describing it, and let out a slight chuckle at his last comment. "Yes... yes, sometimes the things we think are true end up being quite the opposite."

Art nodded and handed the Head Boy his cup of tea. He would easily remember that. Tea, nothing in it. Unlike other people who liked three quarters of a teaspoon of sugar, a drop of milk, and stirred seven times, clockwise.

Art listened as the young man spoke about what he knew about Chemistry. AND THEN A SHOUT! Art flinched slightly at the loud noise, but then let out a chuckle, realising that all was well, the young man merely seemed excited about something. Ahh... "Muggle magic fire?" he asked, "I'm not sure what that is." It sounded interesting though. And the words chemistry and science from within the Hogwarts Castle made him quite happy. "You... do you mean scientist?" he asked. What was a shyentist? Oh dear, he hoped the boy didn't have a speech impediment, otherwise he would have felt awful at corecting the young man. "I was, yes, Chemistry is-is-is a,a branch of science. My parents were scientists. My mother was a neurobiologist, and my father was a physisist," he said. But surely those words were mumbo jumbo to the young man. He nodded happily, "Yes, I'm a muggle born. My brothers are as well." He had had a very muggle upbringing, and still lived like a muggle, only using magic sparingly.

With the loud sigh, Art grabbed the teapot and topped up the young man's cup. He nodded when he said that Airey Flamsteed had spoken to his house. He wasn't about to give any discipline or words of warning to the young man. It wasn't his place. Rather, he would open his ears to listen if he wished to speak of it. "And... and everything got cleaned up?" he asked.

"Yoongi Highland. N-nice to meet you too, young man," Art said with a nod. He'd remember Yoongi's name.He was good with names. Sometimes. "Oooohhh, oh right, yes-yes of course! Ask away, ask away."

Austin thought back for a moment. "Um, a few months. It took long enough to figure out what ingredients to use." He mainly stuck with things that related to the moon, such as moonstone powder. His favorite part, though, was the fact that the potion glowed in the dark. Just getting that was an accomplishment in his book. Speaking of accomplishments, his face reddened when he was complimented. No one had said that about his potion before. "Thank you so much professor."

The Ravenclaw listened to the new professor talk about notebooks. "I find that it's better than parchment. Everything is in one place." His father had given him the notebook in his first year, thinking it would help. He had tried parchment for the first month or so, but eventually switched to notebooks. The boy kept losing all of the pages, and it was a hassle to study from. Now he only used them for letters and homework.

"I have found that to be true a lot of times in Potions." He also made a mental note to write down what the professor said in his notebook. That was a good thing to keep in mind. Especially during class. Austin had a tendency to get frustrated when things didn't go his way.

"It's quite an interesting potion. It gives the drinker the appearance of an animal. Although they still feel like a human. A very interesting feeling indeed." But once he got the feeling of it, he quite enjoyed being a wolf.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

"There small packages that you throw in a fire and the fire changes colors. Its really cool and i would show you but Professor Dakest, he was the previous defence teacher, left so now i cant" seeing as they had been his.

Taking the cup of tea, Yoongi did not drink from it immediately but held it in his hands. Scientists? He frowned and took a sip. "Yeah them, didn't i say that?" he thought he had.... Anyways, he listened and did not have a clue what the professor was talking about. Neuro what and a phys something? It sounded like they were muggle professions.

But when he mentioned that he was muggleborn , Yoongi smiled again. He understood that at least. "I'm muggle born as well" he said. " Well, both my parents are purebloods, im adopted you see" he explained. "at an early age so i know more about the magical world than the muggle but it still interests me, you know?" eh, he probably didnt but that did not matter.

At the topic of the feast, Yoongi sighed and then nodded his head. Yes, Professor Flamsteed had taken care of it. Had been pretty mellow about it after a nights sleep. "It did, the thing about Gryffindors is that we make a mess but always clean it up afterwards" he grinned as this time he meant it in the literal sense.

Alright, the question he had came here for apart from welcoming the man to Hogwarts. Yoongi looked around for a moment, trying to think of a way to asking. "i... Have a confession to make..." he said and ran a hand through his silver dyed hair. "Im a Troll at Potions, no really, i got a T for my OWL and most of the classes i just end up exploding the cauldron..." he laughed nervously. "But, the previous Professor, Professor Culloden had written something on my last homework paper but i was too proud to ask for help..." but now with a new Professor it would be different... "Anyway, he wrote that perhaps some kind of confident potion might help me focus more during Potions?" because apparently he could make potions but freaked out and messed up whenever he made a mistake. So my question is, can i have a vial or five....ten?"

There . He had askes it. It went surprisingly well, now he just hoped he would agree.

"Mmm, mmm, right," Art said, nodding his head in agreement. The researching of ingredients was quite time-consuming, Art would definitely agree. Art nodded again, "Well... that's... that's okay," he said. Of course the young man had done a good job. And a good job deserved praise.

"Mmm I agree completely, Austin. I uhh... sometimes find a pen works bet-better than a quill." He found the ink too messy and smudgy. Picking up a pen was sometimes quicker than picking up a quill, opening the bottle, and dipping it in.

Art let out a chuckle, happy to hear Austin had found that to be true too. "Most of my uhh my creations have been found by mistake. Mmm... It's often where the difference between the uhhh the uhhh... the curious and experimental creators, and the careful once. Both are... both are right in their methods, though," he added quickly, not wanting to make Austin feel like he needed to change his approach to potion making. "One potion can be brewed differently and... sometimes... not always, sometimes it has the same results."

"The appearance of an animal," Art exclaimed, hands going to his chin to stroke it. "I'll-I'll have to brew that one for myself." He rummaged in a desk for a pen and paper and wrote the potion down for future reference, as well as what Austin had said about the potion. He laughed, "I bet it was an interesting feeling! What did you turn into?" he asked, curious.

"Ahhh," Art said, "Yes, yes I think I've heard of that before, actually..." it sounded like something he wanted to look into a bit more, do some research into the properties of the powder.

"Oh... d-didn't you? I.. nevermind." He didn't want to tell the lad that he had mispronounced the word. As long as he remembered it in the future. Science was a serious subject. "Oh yo...you... huuuh," he said, trying to work it out. "Y-you were... adopted by purebloods, but born muggleborn?" he asked. Yoongi further added to what he was saying, and Art thought he understood, nodding some more. "Right, right, I think... I think I understand. Yes. Well, that-that's very interesting. So, do you uhh... do you do muggle studies?"

Art laughed, "Yes, we do." He nodded more. Lots of nodding.

Art raised his eyebrows in question, and Yoongi confessed he had received a T in his Potions Owl. Art didn't want to chuckle at the young man, but exploding a cauldron? He couldn't suppress the grin that spread across his face. He wiped the smile from his face at the question, wanting to show some respect. "Ahh," he said, understanding what he was asking. He went to the back wall, where he had a cabinet of potions, and pulled one out. "This is what he must have been talking about," Art muttered to himself, pulling a smaller vial from another shelf. He decanted a few sploshes into the spare vial, corked it, and put a label on it. "Elixir of Confidence, one drop under the tongue half an hour before you need an effect," Art said with a serious tone. "One drop. The side effects of too much are... not nice. You'd be in the hospital wing for the night." And Merlin, after what he saw at the feast... that woman would scare the naughtiness from Art. "I... I wish to uh.. to say that, ummm, that... well if you need help, please know that... that I'm always free to talk." He didn't want the young man to struggle through, though it appeared his problem was with confidence, rather than his ability. But he was a Professor, and he had to show his students that his door was always open.

Austin listened as the professor went on about potion making. "I've always found the ones made by mistake were more fun." Austin was young, and loved adventure, although his exploring the castle days were long gone. But he found wonder in finding new experiences with potions. It was like an adventure in itself. Speaking of adventures, he made a mental note to pick up a pen next time he was in Hogsmeade. He had seen a few on his father's desk, but he never actually used one.

His bright blue eyes lit up as the professor talked about the animal potion. "A wolf, actually. Which was odd that I chose that, to be honest, since my patronus is also a wolf." He did find it strange. He had only chosen the fur at chance, thinking a wolf would be a cool animal to become. To his surprise, his patronus had taken the same form when he learned the spell at the end of that year. Magic worked in strange ways.

"It was strange at first, since you only take the appearance of an animal. To me it felt like walking on my hands and feet. My back hurt for a few days after as well." He chuckled. It was fun prancing around as a wolf, once he got the hang of it of course, but it did leave him sore. "This girl I worked with turned into a parrot. It would have been nice to try and fly." Although he wasn't sure how it worked. It would have to be something he tried again. Once he acquired some bird feathers, of course. "Do you have any animal you would want to turn into?"

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

But he was a Professor, and he had to show his students that his door was always open.
He had said scientist right? The look on the Professor’s face made him question himself though but he quickly dropped the ‘yes I did’ that had been threatening to come out of his mouth before he said never mind.

As the professor was struggling figuring out what his heritage was, the Head Boy looked around the office. As much as he hated potions, more because he simply did not get it, he was still fascinated by the jars in the shelves. “Yup, I am” he said, looking back. Most people were confused as he tried to explain he was a muggle born in a pureblooded family. And if he took muggle studies? “I do actually, I like how Professor…I mean , Headmistress Moxley teaches it. It’s a combination of fun and educational” really good in his opinion. He had gotten a passing grade for his OWL so that was good right?

The same could not be said for his Potions OWL though. Yoongi had expected the Professor to laugh or grin at his failure but he still did not like it. And he showed it by clenching his jaw unconsciously. Was it that funny he failed a class he sucked at? But then he saw the smile fading away and he figured the professor thought it was more respectful this way. He was right.

As he watched him opening up a cabinet and pulling out a vial of potions, Yoongi sat upright and placed his tea cup down. “Elixir of Confidence?” he repeated, his eyes shining as he stared at the potion. “Can…can I have it , sir?” he asked, carefully holding out his hand but then took it back and frowned. “Its for free right? I don’t have to pay for it ?"

The Gryffindor smiled again, saying a quick thanks as he was offered help whenever he needed it. And that he was always free to talk. The last time he had asked a staff member for help he had actually scored a date with Norah. “So uh…two drops under the tongue right?” he was already making a mistake siiiigh.

“A wolf! Great Scott, that would have been quite an experience.” His mind wandered into thinking about what he might have turned into. “Oh! Are-are you quite talented in Defence against the Dark Arts?” he asked. It had taken Art a long time to be able to cast his patronus. Well after he had actually graduated from Hogwarts. Art listened intently as Austin spoke about his experiences during his time as a wolf. It sounded marvellous. He smiled at the thought of being a parrot, and flying, and nodded when Austin said it would have been nice to try and fly. He could agree with the young man on that. “Ohhh I-I’d like to be a rat.” He smiled. “It would be very interesting to see what Madame Curie’s life as a rat is like."

Art smiled, he had correctly made the links. What an extraordinary story. “Mmm, yes Headmistress Moxley is-is a fascinating woman, very funny,” he said with a little chuckle. It had been a pleasure to have met the woman, and now to be her colleague. He thought back to his days at Hogwarts, and tried to imagine being taught by someone like the Headmistress, Muggle Studies Professor. He couldn’t. He could hardly remember what it was like being there as a student.

Art looked down at the young man for a few moments, slightly confused. He opened his mouth and closed it, before nodding. “Of course! Of course it’s for free!” He chuckled and handed it to him, then went back to sit down. “NO! Just one. One drop under the tongue.” Great Scott, that woman would be chastising him for harming the students before he could say cauldron! "But… I hope you-you don’t feel nervous when you come to class. If you explode a cauldron, well…” Art shrugged, “That’s not a concern. Mess,” he waved his hand, “we have wands to clean up. Don’t-don’t worry. Mess, getting it wrong, explosions, minor burns, it’s all part of uhh… part of the fun of Potions.”

"I'd love to try some new recipes out." He'd have to look for new recipes, but that shouldn't be too hard. There was a definite need to try out harder ones. "Do you know of any intricate, or complicated recipes that I could try?" He wasn't expecting Restricted Section level potions. But something that was a bit more of a challenge would be great. Maybe in a few months, he would be able to access the Restricted Section. Baby steps Austin... Baby steps.

"Honestly I'm not all that great with DADA, and it did take me a while to get the spell down. But once I did it came as a surprise." He let out a chuckle. "Honestly I would prefer to be behind a cauldron than in front of a dummy." His first class of DADA was a great example of that. Hopefully he'll get better at it.

Austin pondered for a few minutes. "I think a rat would be quite interesting. I'm quite tall, so it would be nice to see things from a different perspective." He was so used to seeing things from an aerial point of view. It would be nice to see things from the ground. Get a different view of the world. Maybe even find hiding spots he'd never been able to find before.

Art grinned, "Good! Well we... we have a recipe book in the student lab you can.. you can look through and practice some of them. Anytime." He was all for encouraging students to get messy, safely, with potions. "Well... what's the most difficult potion you've brewed so far? If you can remember," he added. "There's a lot of books," he said, opening a draw and rummaging inside it to pull out a few leaflets. There was an OWL level potions leaflet, and a NEWT level leaflet. He slid them to Austin. "T-try these ones if you'd like. Though I daresay you'll find the OWL ones easy enough."

"Never fear, it wasn't my favourite subject." He did well enough at it, but those advanced spells, he wasn't so great at. Art listened to Austin speak of his experiences, and found himself smiling. "Well it's an achievement to be proud of." And then he found himself chuckling. "I agree with you there, behind a cauldron is a much better spot." He would have to keep an eye on Austin during classes. He had a feeling he would be one of the top students to look out for.

Art nodded, "Mmm, mmm, yes, I often wonder what the different animals see."

Art nodded, "Mmm, mmm, yes, I often wonder what the different animals see."
Austin made a mental note to head to the practice room in a few days. He couldn't wait to try out something new. Part of him wanted to get up and run there now. But he knew it would be rude, and he would have to head back to his common room soon anyways. So he stayed in his seat.

He pondered for a moment what the hardest one was. "That would probably have to be Amortentia. We brewed it last year, and although the amount of ingredients were always in 8's, the steps were the hardest part. When I tried practicing it from memory, it was hard to remember which ingredients I had to add right away, and which ones were added one at a time." He began creating potions from memory last term, in hopes of preparing himself for his exams, and everyday life in general. If he were in a situation that required him to make potions without instructions, he wanted to be ready for it. Although he wasn't sure what scenario would require that. Still he practiced.

He grabbed the pamphlets, and glanced through them. They definitely seemed up his ally. "I'd love to try these out soon." Maybe the teen could try out one of these when he visited the practice room.

Austin felt relief when the professor agreed about DADA. There were times, during the class, when he felt like he was the only one struggling. Or that he was roped in with the First and Second years, because he wasn't sure what to do. It made him feel young and childish, not something he enjoyed. "It's quite strange. Being behind a cauldron seems much safer." He let out a chuckle, but it was true. When he was behind his cauldron, he felt as safe as some feel behind their wand. Which was very strange indeed, since a wrong potion could explode, or burn. But to the Raven-haired boy, he felt that was half the fun. At least when the potion smells funny you know you've done something wrong. In DADA, unless the professor was watching you, it was hard to pinpoint what went wrong.

"Ahh Amortentia," Art said with a nod. "I remember the first time I brewed that one. I uhh... I think it might have exploded..." though it had been such a long, loooong time, it was hard to recall which ones had worked and which ones hadn't. "You... you try to practice y-your potions from memory?" he asked, impressed.

"W-well I have the ingredients in the supply cupboard, so if you don't have your own, l-let me know and I can get them out for you."

Art couldn't help but laugh happily at what Mr. Moore was saying. "I completely agree with you there, m'boy. I dare say you're much like me there. Being behind a cauldron really is a safe place."

It was always interesting to see the professors' offices for the first time, and this one was no exception. When Professor Newton allowed him in, the small boy ducked through the door and immediately started looking around, taking everything in. Every office was different, which wasn't surprising, but it meant that he had new things to look at with every professor he visited.

The small boy wandered closer to the professor's desk, eyes going this way and that, before he remembered that he was here for a purpose. He turned to look at the professor, arms crossed over his stomach as he gripped his elbows absently.

"I have some questions, professor..." just little ones.

Austin nodded, keeping this in mind. He'd love to try out some of the potions on the pamphlet. And with the help of the professor, he was sure to get them perfected.

"I've only got a few first year potions memorized," he flushed. "It's too hard to memorize everything. But if I were ever in a sticky situation, it would be good to know how to brew a quick cure for poisons." He didn't expect to need to know it any time soon. Nor did he know what situations required creating potions. But it was nice to have something stored away in his head for future problems.

He let out a chuckle. "It's very strange, though. Exploding potions don't seem that safe, but I would chose that over a duel any day." It was surprising, then, that Austin signed up for the dueling club that was happening in a few weeks. Although that was more for honing his DADA skills, rather than for fun. It really wasn't his idea of fun.

"So, professor, are you looking forward to teaching this term?" He never had to teach a whole class, so he didn't know what one would expect. But he assumed it was nerve wracking.

The small boy wandered closer to the professor's desk, eyes going this way and that, before he remembered that he was here for a purpose. He turned to look at the professor, arms crossed over his stomach as he gripped his elbows absently.

"I have some questions, professor..." just little ones.
Art closed the door behind the young man, and walked over to his desk. He noticed Mr. Song looking around his office, and gave him some time to do so.

And then the young man came out of his curious state and spoke. Art nodded and gestured to the chair "Sit down if you'd like," he said, whilst he did the same thing. Some questions. Art rested his elbows on the arm rests of his chair, and grasped his hands together. "Sure, sure... uhh Ask-ask away," he said with a smile.

"W-well even just a few potions memorised is very... very good." He nodded. It was a good quality of a potioneer, being able to remember methods and ingredients from mind. "The more you do a potion, the easier it will get. And before you know it your brain will be full of them! L-like a... a textbook."

Art chortled. "Well... n-no not that safe..." he scratched his cheek. "But much safer than a duel, anyhow. At least we potioneers can brew up a quick remedy for burns and such. Not as much we can do for duelling injuries, I'm sure."

Art's eyebrows raised up towards his hairline, his thinking face. "I am, very much so," he grinned. "I uhh... I used to teach chemistry in a muggle school, so... so it will be good to-to get back into a classroom."

Right. Sitting. Jaemin looked around the office again before sinking into the chair on the other side of the desk. The small Slytherin looked at the professor for a very, very long moment, sitting forward on the seat and gripping at the sides of it next to his skinny legs. He'd totally forgotten how to word the questions he had... and now he was sort of floundering, because the whole memory of the poison class was still too recent.

"I didn't get to try making the antidote in class... because of the um... the thing..." you know. The poison that wasn't poison. The small boy detached one hand from the chair and rubbed at the back of his head, frowning a little. The entire thing still bothered him quite a bit. Even if it had been destined to fail... if he had let Elliot drink the stuff first, he would have had a chance to try. But he hadn't, and by the time his turn had come around he'd been too out of focus to manage it. "I wanted to try."

That wasn't all he had come to ask about, but it was one of the things. He looked at Professor Newton, trying not to let his discomfort show, and squirmed a little in his seat. He wanted to try to make it, but he couldn't just go do it.

The staring was starting to make Art feel a little uncomfortable, and he was trying so very hard not to scratch his cheek, or rub his hair or even look away.

Art tried not to sigh at mention of his failed lesson. Instead, he removed his glasses briefly to rub his eyes. He nodded. He knew. Oh, he knew. He still hadn't found that blasted Peeves to question him. "Oh," Art said, not really thinking that was where the conversation was going. He was sure it would be the younger man wanting to withdraw from Potions class, or asking for him to leave Hogwarts so that a competent Professor would be able to teach them. But no, Mr. Song was wanting to brew the antidote. "W-well of... of course! Would uhh.. w-would you like to-to schedule a little... err," what was the word? "P-private lesson? We could brew the antidote in the-the student laboratory if you like?" he asked.
