The dimly lit office of Paul Myers has a reddish glow tint on all the wood that he adores so much. Upon first entering the office, the vast of amount of books behind his desk draws the eye in, and the comfort of the wicker chairs welcomes you as warmly as the temperature in the office. Right now, the office is neat, but sometimes Professor Myers has a messy week of paperwork and greenery turmoil, and the office will...not look so neat.
The record player does not work anymore, and Professor Myers merely keeps it around for the aesthetic. There is a picture of his partner on his desk as well as various shrubs and plants scattered about the room. Magically stuck to the front of his desk is a homework drawing from a particular student with an artistic quality Paul could only wish to draw like someday. He has other various works hanging around his office, too. The faint smell of fresh flowers wafts across the room, and there is gentle, soothing music coming from somewhere. If you're lucky, Paul's mild mannered pooch will nuzzle his wet nose against your hand for pets and ear scratched. Charles Fluffington is as gentle and kind as his owner, if a bit more spoiled.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy a warm cup of tea(or whatever you prefer) as you chat with the mellow Professor Myers.

While the attention was on the frightened dog, the doll quickly made her escape.
Shutting the door behind her, she slipped out of the office before the humans could see.
Not a trace. She was gone.

If it was triggering that kind of response, did that mean there was something wrong with it? But how could something be wrong with a DOLL? She was so confused...
Suddenly Professor Myers was being lunged at and the doll was knocked to the floor before the dog scampered off. "Are you all right, Professor?" she asked feeling slightly concerned before looking back over to - "Hey! Where did it go?"

This was all so weird.
Dogs did have a sixth sense, Paul believed, and that was what worried his hear the most. He went to make sure Charles was okay...patting the top of his head in a soothing manner before...looking at the ground....
And...
It appeared to be gone. "Uh--it has to be around here somewhere--" he got on his hands and knees and even checked UNDER his desk. "It's not here--Merlin's pants!" he hopped up, unable to keep the fear from his face. "I have no idea what's going on--" and the girls looked just as freaked out. "It could be charmed, I suppose..."
MERLIN. Paul didn't even know what to do besides...PFFFT. It WAS Hogwarts. "Maybe it was charmed...to walk back to its owner if lost?" he cocked his head to the side. "That seems the most likely to me, at least."

"Please do! I love doggie pictures!" He bounced with excitement. "I'll have to show you pictures of my other dogs!" Did he have them here???? He stood up to go look...hmph. Digging through a cabinet where he kept many photos from home that he would pull out when he was feeling particularly homesick, he flipped through a photo album...he had an entire one of the dogs somewhere!
He sighed. "Not a bad idea, but it must be so sad for your canine friend...do you find he still has an attachment to you, or does he prefer your friend?"

Oh! Did he have pictures too? She watched him grab a stack of photos. She shifted in her seat trying not to be too anxious. But she was grabby hands. She loved dog pictures.
"He still loves me." she said with a firm nod. "And I get to see him all the time still. Mirrors are super convenient for that sort of thing." She smiled. She actually saw him more now. So that was good.

Yeaaaaaah.
She had NO idea what was going on here, and it was quite frankly freaking her out. Esme shared a look with Scarlett. They must be on the same page here because dolls didn't just wander off on their own and it wasn't as if anyone else was in the room to abscond with her.
Maybe... Professor Myers was on to something, going off of Scarlett's suggestion.
"That could be true. You know... it might explain the tiny footsteps I heard a few days ago." Up until now the only thing that she could explain was the giggling, but the other noises had been a total mystery. "Dolls can't be possessed, can they?" That was the more horrific alternative.
"HA!" he laughed a little at Leo's thought. "Well..not ALL of us like tea, Leo, just like not all librarians actually like to read, you know." Some were only in it for the peace and quiet and stability of the job. "Coffee is a plant, too, you know, and not everyone likes coffee. I don't like coffee--" BLEGH it was so harsh.
"We do go shopping together just...go our separate ways, typically. It would cause too many unnecessary arguments, mostly because Milton thinks he can dictate my STYLE." PFFFT. Paul wouldn't have any of that! He was still poking and prodding the plant, too, until it stopped moving and relaxed after Paul touched a very particular spot.
"I don't think it's dangerous, mostly because it was let into the school. So it can't be too bad." Right? "It looks like a harmless leaf eater of some sort...so harmless to us, but it does enjoy eating its own kind, meaning other plants." Cannibalistic plants, man.
Paul heard the tea finish and quickly went to pour them both a cup.
"Don't I know it." Leo sighed. "Some librarians I've encountered over the years sadly find no fun in reading or caring for books. They just do it since its required." Something he totally couldn't relate to. Leo enjoyed reading books and loved caring for them. Raising a brow in surprise he said. "You really don't like coffee? Not even with a lot of milk and sugar in it?" It was nice. He had already learned one thing about Paul that he didn't know before. He should venture out of the library more often.
Laughing at Paul's reaction Leo reassured. "I like your sense of style. Its uniquely you. I'm glad you aren't changing it for anyone not even Milton." Cassie influenced his style in small ways. The pink tie he tended to wear a lot was just to keep her very close when he couldn't see her each day like he wanted to but work prohibited.
Glancing over to the plant on Paul's desk he said letting out a small sigh of relief. "I'm glad it's not too dangerous but I don't like a plant that feeds on its friends." Visibly shuddering Leo added. "Sounds creepy to me. Do you let the students work with such plants that are cannibalistic in nature?"
Upon being invited in, Jaemin had grinned happily and bounced back to the chair to pick up the large, cloak-covered thing. It was still rather unwieldy to carry, and he was extremely careful coming through the door with it; he looked around once inside, to find a place to set it down so that it would be nice and safe.
The professor's office was so nice. Warm was a good contrast to outside, and it probably rendered the cloak over his tank unnecessary. Still... he waddled it over to a chair and set it down carefully, again making sure that it was well nestled into the seat. He looked at the professor rather quickly before looking around again, this time taking in everything properly. There was a distinct hint of dog around the room, and the small boy nosily peeked around the desk to see if there was a fluffy creature about.
"I brought a thing to show you!" he said, not looking at the professor as he continued to be a very nosy little eleven year old. "Dad said I should show it to you and see if you would help me with it."

You brought a thing to show me? Well--I love things, Mr. Song!" he smiled and chuckled to himself and sat behind his desk, nudging the dog with his foot. "Move over, Charles, Merlin--" he said in a mock-annoyed tone.
"Well. I am going to assume this THING is a plant, then," he rubbed his hands together excitedly. "Show me!"

Jaemin was extremely enamoured with fluffy creatures. Which meant that, at confirmation that the dog was indeed present, he lit up. He was soooooo going to pet this Charles. Soooo going to. But it could wait until after he had shown Paul his thing.
"I wrote him and told him that I told you what he was experimenting on... and I told him I missed the plants cause they're all at home and I'm here..." he moved over to the item on the chair and pulled the cloak carefully away.
The large glass tank was full of miniaturised plants, growing in carefully segmented patches in some places while in others the plants seemed to have decided they liked each others' company and had mixed themselves together in the soil.
"I think they're all regular plants. No grabby ones or bitey ones." He looked into the tank through the sliding glass top. "He said to take good care of them... but I don't have a good place to put them for sun and stuff."

Honestly, Jay wasn't sure what all the plants in the tank were. He knew a lot of them, though. There were only a few he hadn't seen before... maybe after a little more growth, he'd be able to tell what they were. His dad hadn't labeled them, because Jay was smart and he'd figure everything out!
"I know most of them are for potions, cause that's what dad experiments with..." he pointed to plants as he named them off. "That one's sneezewort... and dittany... and that one is arnica, I think... and that one is gurdyroot, but there's also some puffapods and I think that's a shrivelfig? I dunno what that is in that corner..."
He pointed at some vines wrapped around some upstanding twigs embedded in the soil. There were a few more things he didn't know either, like the one with shiny gold leaves and what looked like a few very tiny trees that were clumped up in another corner. For the most part, they were plants that Muggles could have too... so it was a mix. A big, pretty, planty mix.
"I tried really hard to take good care of them. Dad said to just be really careful when I water them so they don't get squished or anything, but I already knew that from taking care of them before I came to Hogwarts." The small boy smiled proudly and reached down to touch one of the very young trees, being as gentle as possible so it wouldn't bend. Upon the professor's mention of a space in the greenhouse, he started to bounce a bit excitedly. "Can we?! They'd get lots of light and stay warm and everything then, I wouldn't have to worry about finding places to put them in the sun in the castle."
That would be sooooo great. The greenhouse was nice and warm and bright and he could come down to see them every single day to make sure they were growing right and to water them and take notes and stuff!
"I wrote him back to say thank you right after I got them... he hasn't gotten to write back yet, though." He patted the sides of the tank lightly, considering all the tiny plant life inside. "I think it's better if they stay in there. Some of them are really small, they might get stepped on or lost or something."
That would be a tragedy. If he came down to visit his plants and the gurdyroots had disappeared, he'd be absolutely crushed.
"Maybe after some of them get bigger and stuff, they can be transplanted? The trees might need it after a while..."
