Way back behind the many bookshelves and bookcases a cozy area has been created for any Hogwarts student interested in his or her reading. It's a big comfy area with clusters of armchairs and tables surrounding magical reading lamps which give off different levels of light all appropriate for reading. The clusters are perfect for study groups or group projects.
Here and there a few lone armchairs and tables can be found for a student to enjoy some solitary reading, and a number of comfy sofas for any who wants to stretch out and put their feet up. Just, make sure they aren't muddy!
A soft glow of light is present throughout the area with more magical reading lamps in each possible reading space. Be sure to keep your voices down and respect those students who wish to read in quiet.
... no? So she got to have BOTH sandwiches to herself? Sweeee-eet. But she wasn't so rude as to show this to Daxie, so she nodded politely and put her backpack to the side while he picked up his notebook. It was a nice change to talk to someone through notes and enjoy the quietness for a while...
... that was until Peeves showed up and SCREAMED a quite interesting thing. Genny giggled before slapping her hands on her mouth. Her face went red from the effort and it wasn't until she turned to see Daxie's reaction that she noticed he'd written something for her.
A challenge? She was up for it! Nodding vigorously, "Yes! What is it? I'm not sure I can help with your homework...." Because they were in a library? And that must be it? Awkward...
The one place, the one place in this entire castle that was supposed to be quiet, and it was full of infernal screeching. The sudden noise had Daxton wincing in pain, dropping his notebook and slamming his hands over his ears in an attempt to block out out, very much unamused. Fortunately, he was so preoccupied in such an action that he did not notice Genny Tate's giggling at the whole affair, otherwise he would have cut their interaction short at once. People who found loud noises funny were generally not to be trusted.
Only when he was sure that the noise had stopped and the culprits were gone did Daxton hesitantly uncover his ears again. He glanced around the study area, frowning, alert, ready to cover his ears again at the slightest hint that the screeching would start again - it was stupid to assume he would ever be safe from loud noises, especially in this place.
Genny Tate captured his attention again, and Daxton turned to look at her, nonplussed at first, because of the comment she had made about homework. Gradually, his blank stare turned to one just short of annoyance and disbelief, not quite able to get across the irked feeling that Genny Tate thought him so stupid that he would need a first year's help with his homework (the fact that he ignored his homework the majority of the time was, in this instance, irrelevant). The look - whatever it was - lingered for a few moments longer, until Daxton gave a frustrated shake of his head and reached into his pocket for a folded piece of parchment bearing a new pre-written statement. This one was written on parchment so that he would be able to safely destroy the incriminating evidence without sacrificing a page of his notebook.
'We are going to try and look in the Restricted Section for the books on Legilimency and Occlumency.'
Of course, by 'we', Daxton actually meant 'you', but had decided it would be smarter to include himself in case Genny Tate somehow realised he was using her for her first year status (or simply as a scapegoat) and tried to back out. Perhaps he would enter too, but only under a very specific set of circumstances. The chances they would even be able to get inside were slim, but even just being moderately close to the Restricted Section might warrant some kind of excuse, and maybe, just maybe, they would be able to get a good look at some of the titles of the books inside, if nothing else. There were rules against being inside, however, which made Daxton think that perhaps there was a way to get inside without the Librarian's permission.
Daxton looked at Genny Tate, avoiding her eyes and trying to manufacture his best 'expectant' expression, though he found it near impossible. More likely it just came across as his regular blank stare, but it would have to do. He was hoping he would not have to do much persuading, that her Gryffindor-ness would take over and make her just as willing as when she had searched her father's study for the books, but at the same time he knew not to push the issue too much or too soon.

"Yeah I tackled mine to the ground, I play flag football so I know how to tackle things." No need to brag or anything right? "Aaahh that sucks. Hey it happens, don't fret. It wasn't too embarrassing as saying ripping your pants right?" It could be worse kid. He was going to ask why her partner abandoned her but he didn't really care to know.
"Ohhooo I brought my broom here but I know you don't have yours. First years can't have brooms. Maybe next term we can have a match on the courtyard or something.." He would be so down for it! "I am pretty agressive in the air, not really graceful." he added and smirked. He nodded when she accepted his offer and he kept on reading. He heard her explaining her family. It was cool she had purple eyes. That was a trait that wasn't too common. Now he began to think of his family.
"Well.." he began to get his thoughts together. "My dad's side has no magic on their part whatsoever. My mom's side of the family is the part where the magic comes in. It started with the last name Lecium and then it just spread. My grandmother and grandfather met in Hogwarts and started dating and yadda yadda. Then she had my aunt Hailey and her three sisters. My aunt Shannon and my mom are related and yeah. It all intertwined. We are all half bloods basically which is kind of cool. I love doing the muggle aspects and the magic aspects." He kept rambling but he remembered how far back they go.
"I honestly don't know how far my family goes back, but I know my cousin Annabelle left a legacy and was prefect for a while which is cool. The name is still in Hogwarts." Kudos to her. He knew he would never get Prefect that is for sure.
Azura's purple eyes were wide as she looked at Colt and nodded at him seriously. "I honestly thought you were super mad at me, but I'm glad you aren't." She said with a smile as she looked at him. "Well, I hope I'll get to know you well." That.. wasn't a weird thing to say was it? Let's hope not!
She shook her head at him, "Well, I am glad you were able to subdue it.. I on the other hand.. barely managed to kick it before I fell over.." She giggled a little.. "Ripping my pants WOULD have been more embarrassing." She said with a nod. "Though I still wished I could fall through the floor, it's a shame that all the floors around here are so solid.." She said with a shake of her head.. It really was!
She nodded at him. "Next year it is then." She said with a warm smile, it would be fun to face off against him in Quidditch, play someone she knew.. and hang out as well! She would be a mighty second year! And 13 as well! She wouldn't be so young then!
She adjusted the ice on her nose and leaned her head on the couch, so she could look at him as he spoke and she nodded here and there as he told his story.
Aww his grandparents met at Hogwarts, that was so cute! Her parents sort of knew each other when they went to the school, but didn't meet for real until years later..
She nodded. "That is super cool actually, you have the best of both worlds." She said with a nod.
"Ohh a Prefect? My Aunt was one, but not my mom.. I'm not sure why.. I think because she was really shy and so she never talked to many people.." That HAD to be it.. cause her mom was the smartest person in the whole world. Yup..
You thought you were the only one in this part of the library, but that can't be.. The slight rustle of pages on the shelf nearby indicates that someone - or something - is lurking nearby. A doll lays on the shelf at eye level. How did it manage to get there, you may wonder...

Colt shook his head and said, "Nah I am not mad at you, don't worry about that. You would know it I was mad." He would make sure of that. He felt like Azura would know him well. She will soon enough probably by the end of this term. Colt heard her comment and said, "Well I could imagine if the floors were like a bouncy house or you know like a trampoline park! Imagine being able to have a trampoline park for floors. I would get to classes so much quicker.." He was imagining it and yeah it would be cool plus he would get so much exercise. "We would get so much more exercise!" he told Azura. Come on ravenclaw see through his plan here.
The slytherin was kind of pumped for his quidditch match next year. I mean he could kick her butt, he would go easy on her though. He should invite her to his house next year then she would see how his cousins wouldn't go easy on anyone especially if they were a girl. As he was looking in the distance, he saw a creepy doll that just popped out of nowhere.
He did a double take and asked Azura...."Ermm Azura, did you see that doll there before?" Man that thing was creepy. Colt didn't really do well with dolls that creepy looking.

Azura relaxed more as Colt said that he wasn't mad at her. She didn't want him to be mad at her, she wasn't sure why, but it seemed like it would be the worst thing in the world! "Well, I'll do my best not to make you mad." She said with a warm smile at him, as she took the ice off her face and snuggled into the couch, leaning on the side of it so she could look at him better. She giggled though as he spoke of the floors being trampolines!!
"Merlin Colt! Not only would we get exercise, we would bounce right off the stairs.. and the halls.. and into the walls and ceilings.. Uhh.. do you WANT me to be killed, cause right now... it sorta sounds like it!" She said with a grin at him..
She slowly turned to look at the doll behind him and she blinked.. "Fwoopers! That's Rachel's doll! That's my dorm mates doll, she lost it near the beginning of term." She stood up and blinked.. "But why in the name of oh holy night.. is it here?" She asked as she looked at Colt.
Colt heard Azura's comment and he laughed. "Well I didn't think that far into it actually. I mean I don't think I would be killed. The ceilings seem high enough to handle all the jumping.." he said and looked up at the ceiling and thought yeah they seemed high enough. "I mean if we do get injuries that is what the hospital wing is for.." he shrugged. "Come on you know the idea is brilliant! You are being a debby downer about it!" Come on ravenclaw have a little fun. Then he saw Azura look at that creepy doll. Man why was it here?
"Rachel? Who is Rachel? What is her last name?" So many questions burning at him right now. "Wait she lost it? How did she loose it?" Man he should shut up now with all the questions. He got up from his seat and went over to look and it vanished. "Woaaahhh did you see that!? It just disappeared!" Then he looked over again after telling Azura and he saw a note. He gave a confused look and went to go read it. "It says come play with me..." he rasied an eyebrows in suspicion and showed it to Azura. "Something weird is going on with your roommate that is for sure.." he told her. He never experienced something like this before.

Azura was about to argue that she wasn't being a Debbie Downer about the whole trampolines for floors thing, she was just being practical! When..
The.Doll.Disappeard!
EEEKKKK!!!
The little Ravenclaw was on her feet and next to Colt in a matter of seconds and she looked at the note and shivered a little at it.. Come play with me?
Merlin!!! This was so creepy and now Azura was looking around warily and biting her lip. A small noise spooked her and without any thought, she turned, squeaked and hugged Colt!
Probably wasn't the wisest of ideas.. but at the moment she was scared and he was the closest person to her..
Her tendency to randomly hug people had gotten her into trouble with Jazzy and she hoped Colt took it all right! "I'm scared." She whispered to explain the fact that he now had a Ravvie attached to him.

Wait a minute this was getting weirder and weirder. He went to go investigate being the dude he was. There had to be a logical explanation to this. "How could a doll just disappear..?" he muttered out loud. He walked around the shelf when he noticed Azura was right behind him. He jumped a little bit because she frightened him a little bit. "Bloody merlin Azura I didn't even see you there.." Then he saw Azura's reaction about the missing doll and he felt a soft tap on his right side. He looked down and saw her hugging him. He didn't expect that. He stood there still as a statue not knowing how to handle this.
He shrugged and tried to get out of her hug. He wasn't much of a hugger. "You know what is creepier is you knew the doll. Do you think the doll could be up in your common room?" He had to find this doll.

Well, this was just getting worse and worse! A creepy disappearing doll, she had just scared him and now.. He was trying to get out of her hug! She pulled back sheepishly and bit her lip a little.. "Sorry." She whispered out as she chanced a look up at his face..
Well at least he didn't look like Jazzy did when she had accidentally told him she loved him.. So that was a plus.. But it wasn't a smile and he didn't hug her back.. Yeah.. He took it badly.
Scared and spiraling Ravenclaw! Party of one!
She bit her lip and sort of crossed her arms over herself as she took a few steps back from him and hovered near the bookcase..
Her purple eyes went wide! "Merlin! It might know me!! And I hope it's not up in my common room!" Why couldn't he be a hugger! She was freaked out right now!

Okay.. Deep breaths Azura! Deep breaths!
Colt saw Azura look up at his face. He didn't see a reaction other than fear. He shrugged and let it slide. She didn't have to apologize for everything she did. Jeez what is with girls doing that anyways? When he realized he asked the wrong question, he didn't mean to scare the poor girl. "Do you want to go check?" he asked. "I mean I could go with you if you prefer.." He knew he wouldn't be allowed in the common room but he could wait outside the door.

Genny really didn't see the fuss about them, but if Daxie thought they were worth pursuing, she would definitely help him. In fact, the fact that no grown-up agreed to help them pushed her to explore the subject more (but she failed).
"We're not allowed in there," she dropped her voice. "But I assume you already have a plan?" Leaning in, her face was closer to Daxton than before but not as close as she would usually put it.

Dropped... dropped what? Daxton blinked, utterly confused. He even took a moment to check the floor, though that did not really make sense as Genny Tate had told him he had not dropped... something. Did she mean the note? Daxton shook his head, snatched the note back, and inspected the parchment it had been written on, looking for whatever had prompted Genny Tate to make a comment about him having not dropped it. The fact that she had been referring to his not dropping the subject - that is, of Occlumency and Legilimency - did not at all occur to him.
When he looked up again, Genny Tate's face was closer than it had been before. Daxton gave a minuscule jolt of surprise and leaned back to make up for it the sudden decreased space between them, however small, and squinted suspiciously at her. A moment passed, and then another, and Daxton only peered at the Gryffindor, considering her. Finally, he gave a simple nod of his head and showed her the other side of the note.
'We are going to see if we can get in first. If we can, we go in, if we cannot, we look from the entrance or find another way in.
If we get caught, I will do the explaining. Do not say anything.'
Sliding off the table and to his still bare feet, Daxton gathered his things and gestured at Genny Tate to come with him. First, though, he would need to get rid of the incriminating parchment. Just in case.
