Rula had lost the previous duel, but she was actually pretty okay with that. Handsome Hirsch had looked impressed and even COMPLIMENTED her on her Diffindo spell, and that completely made up for the losing.
And now there was another duel, and she was determined to impress him again. And win too, hopefully, but MOSTLY to impress the professor. Hehehe.
She took her place in the dueling arena and bowed to Rooney as required. What spell to start off with? The one she'd used last time hadn't hit, but it still seemed like a good one to start off with again anyway, because why not.

It was official. Rooney Bronwyn would not be continuing his dueling career into his fourth year. He was going to give it up then and find a new thing to try do with his extra time at school. Planting bulbs or reading to the giant squid or... y'know.. kissing Miss Charlotte in secret places in the school? He'd sure find something to do to get rid of this activity that only made him question his ability to think on his feet and be better than others. BECAUSE RIGHT NOW ALL HE DID WAS FAIL. He hadn't come anywhere close to having a decent duel ever in his life and last time...he'd pretty much caught death.
"Protego!" A quick shield charm to keep his wand with him, and they were in action. The Ravenclaw bounced on the balls of his feet, side to side, eager and eager and BLAM. "Anetoculatia!" He was always keeping things fresh. Maybe that was his problem... Trying new things...

So he'd shielded against her spell, but that was okay, she'd figured he'd probably be able to. Most first spells could be avoided probably.
Rula got a tiny bit distracted as Rooney bounced from one foot to the other, so she didn't react fast enough when he shot a spell at her. The spell hit before she could cast a shield, and instantly she felt her hair morphing up on top of her head, getting stiff and feeling a little heavier in the process. What the...
She resisted the urge to check what was on her head for a moment, instead casting a quick "Colloshoo," followed by "Calavrio" at Rooney. Then she quickly reached up with her free hand and felt...antlers?!?!?!

Rooney was having one of the best times bouncing from one foot to the other, and it hadn't been intended to distract his opponent but ALRIIIIGHT if it had. But all of a sudden it was gone and he was rooted to the spot and it was not ALRIIIIGHT. What was it with people and sticking his feet to the darn floor? He was quick to act, casting "finite!" towards his feet, distracted by the freedom or stepping so much that he wasn't quick enough to get out of the way of another spell shot his way. HIS GREAT HEAD OF HAIR. HIS GREAT WONDERFUL HEAD OF HAIR THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FEATURE IN HIS NEW HEADSHOTS TAKEN THIS SUMMER. RUINED. The Ravenclaw clutched at a clump that fell, and he WAILED.
Sticking with his wail, though, he racked his brain for the next spell... and shot it. Whilst utterly still loud and infuriated and most definitely MEANING every single part of it. "LANGLOCK!!"
Take that, you hair-removing BUTTHEAD.

ONE finite would be required to get rid of the attacking and the birds. If it was say, Rope and Ice, however, these are two separate spells that would need separate Finite's to cancel)

Well THAT wasn't quite the reaction she expected.
Rula's eyes widened when Rooney just started wailing after the Calavrio spell. Which...kinda made her feel bad? A little bit? She'd technically lost her hair too though, since it'd been turned into antlers of all things, so she didn't feel TOTALLY bad. Plus the spell was probably easily reversible once the duel was over, sooo that was a comforting thought.
The wailing was also kinda distracting though, and she had to quickly jump to the side to avoid the spell he'd cast. Phew.
Maybe this would've been a good time to keep shooting multiple spells at her opponent, but...instead she went with a simple "Locomotor Wibbly," for now.

DANGFLABBIT. Why was this HIS life?! Brushing away hair from his shoulders, Rooney found himself starting to scowl at the dueling talent of his opponent and in extension...every dueller in this school. This was definitely not his day, because he had lost his hair and potentially his entire theatre career today. He cast "Protego!" milliseconds after Rula sent a spell his way, and decided to stick with what he had seen work for other people. Namely, Miss Charlotte. The one-two approach. Whilst Rula was dealing with the fact she had NOT turned his legs into jelly (which she would then only need ice cream to turn it into a party), he sent his secret weapon her way. The one he'd been working on since his last duel. Since it had struck him dreadfully and left him crying for an hour.......or two........maybe three.
A defiant Stinging Hex hurtled it's way towards the Slytherin and he stood ready to RUN if he needed to.

Merlin, this duel was close!
It was almost as if the man couldn't watch but couldn't tear his eyes away from the scene either. Spells were shot, dodges were made and shields were cast up. He had to admit, it was an improvement from the quality of duels at the beginning of the year.
And was it just him or did the two have a personal vendetta against the other's hair?
Maybe it was a good thing that the duel was coming to a close? Before some other kind of damage happened to the other's hair. The shield went up, right as the Stinging Hex had been cast, making it redundant. Stepping out, he headed towards the two, trying to be careful of the hair because, uh, no. Poor Mr Bronwyn.
"That was an excellent duel. Both of you. Pity there was a lot of hair targeting going on." And yet, it was still interesting, so thanks duellers. "That was actually a very very close duel. But the winner," Even by the tiniest of margins. "is Miss Botros! Congratulations. And well done, Mr Bronwyn."
And he should do something about the hair, yes? The man gave his wand a wave and got rid of any lasting effects of the spells in place. Better?
